These are photos of Kate Beckinsale and her director husband Len Wiseman at last night’s LA premiere of Underworld: Awakening. Something is bugging me about Kate in these photos, and I can’t really put my finger on what. I think she looks lovely, as she almost always does. I like the cut of her Jenny Packham dress, and while the color doesn’t do much for Kate, it’s not bad or offensive in any way. Kate’s makeup is usually the same too – flawless. And considering Kate is wearing one of Duchess Kate’s new favorite designers (it’s amazing how Jenny Packham’s profile has grown in Hollywood since Duchess Kate started wearing her last year), I think Beckinsale is even trying to style herself after the Duchess of Cambridge. Look at Beckinsale’s waves – it’s like she rolled her hair (Waity-style) and then brushed it out. And Beckinsale’s hair look more red-carpet ready than Waity’s, honestly. Duchess Kate’s curly ‘do always look so “sorority girl on her first job interview.”
So maybe my problem is that Beckinsale has styled herself in the Waity style, and that Beckinsale might have even exceeded Waity’s “look”? I don’t think that’s it. I think my problem is that Kate doesn’t look “special” for her own premiere. Seeing Kate in a beautiful gown is normal – she throws on a gown for ANYTHING. It just seems like another day for her, so she doesn’t look “special” for one of the few events she has where she is The Star.
Also – I’d love to see this dress in red. Wouldn’t it be gorgeous in red? I would wear it.

That was my first thought exactly. Waity wouldn’t to a weave. Too trashy.

Althought the dress is beautiful, and Kate is beautiful as well. Maybe the dress is too much for a movie premiere? I rather see her in that dress but shorter and less poofy at the bottom. No flare, just straight lined
I agree. Since the top of the dress is looser, the bottom needs to be more fitted or shorter. Right now it just looks like too much dress-the proportions are off.

I’ve really been enjoying her Underworld press tour – she’s surprisingly good on chatshows. I may go watch her film now.

The direction of the curved embellishments on the lower front portion of the dress make her look pregnant. It’s just an optical illusion, but I had to do a double-take.
The problem for me is that she looks really stiff and wooden. Maybe her shoes were really uncomfortable or something? She’s just holding herself strangely, I don’t know. It is a beautiful dress, though.

She looks like she’s list weight, her face looks thinner and her cheekbones more pronounced. I think. Love the dress, but it WOULD be awesome in cranberry red. Or very dark navy?

That color is bad on her. The cut of the “skirt” part of that dress seems extra large.

Wow, she’s getting smokers lips already (b*tchy comment I know. And don’t get me started on her bolt-ons, they wreck the dress.) I just don’t get her, how does she turn up at every premier/awards show when she never works overdressed to the nines? It’s embarassing. She bugs me. She could totally do t.v. or theater and re-gain some interest but she acts like a movie star without anything to back it up, it’s annoying.

She’s in the just released movie Contraband with Mark ‘Douche’ Wahlberg and Ben Foster. She plays his wife.
I like the bottom of the dress but not the top.
Also, her hair color looks horrible. It looks like they didn’t match her extensions to her natural hair color. Why would anyone want to have their hair look like that?
I’ve never been a fan of this style of dress — the top billowy and kind of hanging over the waist a bit. It always strikes me as something an older lady would wear in the 70s.

She ALWAYS looks the same. You are right. I think her makeup is part of the problem. She seems to always wear makeup and it’s always the same. And her propensity to always overdress. She’s very pretty but seriously boring. But guys love that. They love chicks that don’t leave the house without makeup and are pretty and boring.

Bad extensions, bad makeup, bad dress. This is not her norm.
The dress is great, and I’d say she would look good even in a potato sack, but Jessica Biel keeps wearing them, so we know that isn’t true.
Kate is so pretty…her bone structure is to die for! But I’m not digging this look on her. I also thought this dress would be something Angie would wear. And the extensions are WAY too obvious. I’m surprised because in the past I have always envied her hair but then it looked much more natural. I used to love watching her act when she was much younger and starred in British films. She was a perfect English rose. Since she’s moved to the U.S. I don’t know…blah. I wish she would do some more complicated roles.
I don’t know what it is about her. Although she is okay in the Underworld series and very attractive, she is very mediocre as an actress because this Underworld series is mediocre in terms of its script.
Hopefully she’ll be in other films.
Love the makeup she tries to use to hide that Frankenforehead of hers. If she reproduced with Edward Cullen, the poor child’s head would be in a different time zone from the rest of its body.
The colour and cut of the dress doesn’t suit her but her face and hair are still flawless.
