Dr. Drew tries 6 year-old Toddlers and Tiaras star’s “Go Go Juice,” feels funny

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
Earlier this month, footage came out on Toddlers and Tiaras of six year-old pageant contestant, Alana Holler, aka “Honey Boo Boo Child,” sipping an unknown beverage that her mom called “Go Go Juice” to rev up for competition. (A video of that is below.) The mom explained that she tried to use Pixy Stix, known as “pageant crack,” with Alana but that it didn’t work to give her enough energy to perform. The situation looked more abusive than typical pageant prep in that a child was potentially drinking something spiked. Later the mom defended herself by using the old “it could be worse” argument. Mom June Holler said “I didn’t do anything to hurt her. There are far worse things that I can do to my kid.” She went on to say she basically didn’t care what people said about her, which is obviously true if she’s pushing her child into pageants in the first place.

Well June and little Alana went on the Dr. Drew show, and discussed the controversial issue of the “Go Go Juice.” They brought some along for Dr. Drew to try and he acted like he was affected by it, but he was obviously playing it up. He claimed that his tongue felt thick, he felt hot, and said he was “starting to lose it.”

Little Alana and her mom explained that the Go Go Juice was “energy drink and a caffeine drink.” When I first saw the clip from Toddlers & Tiaras I thought the girl was just drinking Mountain Dew, but it’s really Mountain Dew and Red Bull. Can you imagine giving that to your kid? I saw an episode of Dr. Oz where they talked about the dangers of drinking too much Red Bull, which can be addicting and harmful to your health. This lady is giving Red Bull to her kid all the time. Mom of the freaking year.

    It’s abuse, pure and simple.

    • gg says:

This constitutes “drugging” your child! And between some of the moms, and they way they treat their kids with pixie stix and caffeine, acting like it’s perfectly okay to drug their kid to get some lame beauty pageant prize, the whole pageant goings-on look like they are trying to foster Diabetes. Paula Deen would be proud.

      • Sarah says:

gg…eating sugar does not cause diabetes. That is truly one of the biggest myths in America.

      • jmed says:

        really sarah….what causes diabetes then?

      • Sarah says:

jmed, you could go to WebMD and look, but I will help you out.

Obesity, genetics, inactivty and comorbidities are the usual culprits in type 2. Type 1 is generally, though not always, genetic. You cannot have a lot of sugar/carbs when you are diabetic because while your body releases insulin, your body’s insulin is unable to use sugar properly. In type 1, you have no insulin. But that doesnt mean that sugar is what caused it.

When my daughter was tested as prediabetic, but not full blown diabetic, her amazing pediatric doctor told me to go ahead and let her eat all the sugar she wants, because eventually she will not be able to enjoy it so much. She is type 1.

    • Deb says:

It is potentially dangerous as well. Energy drinks were never really meant to be consumed by kids. Even adults who consume too many can experience heart palpitations. Imagine how it could affect a small child.

      • bettyrose says:

Giving a young child that much caffeine on a regular basis is abuse. Pure and simple. Heck, why not just have her on a diet of cigarettes and methamphetamines?

    • jmed says:

thanks for the update sarah. no one was arguing that she would get “type 1” diabetes from eating sugar. shes on the road to islet cell burnout aka type 2 diabetes by consuming lots of sugar and having insulin spikes. the fact that she is overweight is a sign she is overfed and clearly running elevated sugars.

  2. Mimi says:

I’m sorry, but that mother is a complete cretin. I mean, just look at her….she’s truly revolting and I feel so bad for the little girl who has no choice in the matter. And Dr. Drew should be ashamed of himself, too.

    • someone says:

parenting licenses. this is why we need them.

    • Meanchick says:

I completely agree! That mother is a gross pig (did she really burp or am I losing my mind?). It looks as thought the mother is living vicariously through lil honey boo boo child (utterly stupid)and who seems to be picking up her Grossburger mom’s character traits. I cannot believe this is a show where no one from CPS intervenes! It creates unrealistic expectations for these little girls. Walking around in wigs/hairpieces, makeup, expensive costumes and strutting across the stage like mini-strippers is beyond ridiculous!

  3. Quinn says:

Proving once again..you should have to pass some sort of psych eval prior to breeding.

  4. jip says:

why are pageant moms always so fat?

    • Kelly says:

They’re not. If you watch the show, you’ll see that many are what I can only describe as “former cheerleader types,” blonde, all done up, trying to relive their glory days in spangly little outfits and heavy makeup by putting their little daughters in spangly little outfits and heavy makeup. The scariest part is when they show the moms “coaching” from the audience, acting out the routine in a completely demented way.

ETA: This woman is ugly beyond belief. And in the extended clip from the show, it shows that she’s obsessive-compulsive – their entire kitchen is lined with metal shelving filled with stuff she’s gotten through her “extreme couponing” – like enough dishwashing liquid to last a lifetime. Supposedly the amount of money she “saves” through the coupons enables them to finance the pageant stuff. I will never understand how buying more stuff actually saves money.

      • bros says:

Yes, I was watching on Sunday, this horrifying mother of Carly, who had encouraged her daughter, who hated pageants, highlighting her hair and wearing fake eyelashes, so cultivate an alter ego of Darly when she is performing. the kid would literally curl up into a ball and try to coax her Darly character out so that she could cope with the pressure her mom was putting on her to do these things that she didnt enjoy. it was heartbreaking. the mother was awful. criticizing her relentlessly after she went too fast on stage and took one of her eyelashes off as she exited after her performance. her mom gave her no hugs, no encouragement, and was obviously living some fantasy through her daughter and admitted thats what she was doing. I felt like screaming at her, bitch ,if you love this so much, go enter some contest of some kind, but your little girl is miserable!

      • the original bellaluna says:

It’s called “living vicariously” through their daughters. They’re either living the lives they wanted or the lives they used to have.

        And it is DISGUSTING!

      • ccoop says:

It’s not just her kitchen that’s lined with shelves. In one scene you can clearly see a faux chandelier which means she’s also turned her dining room into storage.

I am sure the bedrooms are the same. Yep, this is hoarding, even if it’s new merchandise and not trash and garbage.

      • lilred says:

@Bros:I watched that one too the mother was vile…whispering they were on national television and her daughter would not say no again…she needed a good swift kick.

    • Marc says:

Because they don’t see that they are fat and ugly. They are living life of their children. Damn this is sick.

    • Zelda says:

I was just going to say.
It like a chicken/egg thing–did they let themselves go because they were living through their daughters anyway? Or are they living through their daughter because they have let themselves go?

But there are also other, non-obese pageant moms who wear enough makeup to compete with Kim Kardashian in a “betcha don’t know what my real face looks like” pageant.

      So we shouldn’t stereotype.

  5. Common Sense says:

Just a fat mom trying to live vicariously through her child. Sick, mom needs some go go to the gym juice!

  6. dorothy#1 says:

wow! I won’t even let my kids drink sprite more than once a month, I can’t imagine them on MT and Red Bull!!!

    • Gradstudenteatinghotpockets says:

Sprite doesn’t have caffeine in it…so your children would probably be jittery if they a red bull and mt dew mixture. And their stomaches would probably be upset.

  7. Bubbling says:

This whole mess of a show is disturbing on so many levels and should be banned. That child is wearing 3 pounds of trowel appliance make up since her own birth I guess and drinks red bull regularly. And that’s just the top of the ice berg, imagine the horrors that we don’t see.

  8. Zelda says:

That kid is annoying as shit.

    • QQ says:

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT, sh-t, i dont care if its offside but that kid was as revolting as her mom and her 3 chins, with the ghettofab sexy affectations REVOLTING

    • Lisa says:

Most of the kids are annoying and, sorry, ugly as sin. They all slur their words, too. Inbreeding!

  9. normades says:

    That is just really disturbing.

  10. Franny says:

Its kind of sad that some 6 year old out there doesn’t “have the energy” to jump around on a stage for a few minutes. She’s 6! Thats like the pinnacle of having energy.

    • Delta Juliet says:

Good God I’d like to steal some of my 8 year olds energy! No way in hell I need to supplement it! lol

      • JoLene says:

Indeed! I have to take my kids for serious exercise (bike rides, swimming, etc) EVERY DAY or they won’t sleep. Sometimes my husband makes them run laps. They are little bundles of energy, and they’ve never had a soda or Happy Meal — it’s all whole grain / organic dairy / veggie energy around here.

      • Isa says:

Right? I’ve been threatening to make my 3 year old run laps but the weather has been horrible!
If I give her an energy drink and mountain dew she’d be hanging from the ceiling.

  11. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Mountain dew = appalachian apple juice.

“Central Appalachia is the number one spot in America for tooth decay to due to their poor diet, lack of access to dental care, and widespread addiction to Mountain Dew. They say it’s used as a kind of anti-depressant, thanks to its high-caffeine and sugar levels. Good Morning America visited and found they even put it in baby bottles (hence the term Appalachian Apple Juice ).”

Good job pageant mom. Way to promote tooth decay, obesity and diabetes, and ignorance!

    • someone says:

      oh god that was disturbing…

    • hillbilly in the corner says:

pulled that one out of a 1970’s OSCA report didn’t they……”why they actually have Pepsi and Dr Pepper now son…and even gots us some of that Hot Bull stuff you’re talking about or is ie Red Bull can’t never get my critters straight.”..I love the way media grabs the most catchy phause in a report and runs it for years and years till people buy it as the gospel true..the true is the tooth decay in the Appaclachion area is from lack of vitimums and minerals that promote strong teeth not over drinking of Mountian Dew..

      • hillbilly in the corner says:

One last thing and I will cry Pax on this subjectt

it not the caffine that would rot your teeth out any way its the sugar in the drink just like every other drink on the supermarket shelf… the caffine now will speed the heart up and cause liver damage and they way that kid is slurrping that stuff down she has all ready did some damage…..

    • Sunshine says:

Wow. That poor child. Soda is poison and energy drinks are even worse! That kid’s kidneys are going to be shot by the time she’s 15, and I bet she’ll be pushing 300lbs just like Jabba, I mean MOMMA there. I have never understood how something like this ISN’T child abuse but people act like I’m locking my kid in a dungeon and beating her because she doesn’t eat sugar. But crap like this is A-OK for most of America. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??

(sorry but this really bothers me!)

      • hillbilly in the corner says:

Ain’t nothing wrong with you sweetie except that your being a good mother…

these shows are coming from the same kind of people who use to bring you the medicince shows and the freak shows to town for all the folks to pay their money to stare at the freaks…

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@hillbilly, no. This isn’t from an outdated study. It’s from 2009. PepsiCo won’t admit that mountain dew contributes to tooth decay and toothlessness in Appalachia (but the dentists who work with those kids sure seem to think it does).

“PepsiCo, the makers of Mountain Dew soda, says it has reached out to a dentist working to save children’s teeth in eastern Kentucky, after ABC News reports on the problem of tooth decay, or “Mountain Dew mouth,” in the region.

Dr. Edwin Smith, a dentist in Barbourville, Ky., invested $150,000 of his own money to build a mobile dental clinic, Kids First Dental Care, inside an 18-wheel truck.

It’s a stereotype rooted in a terrible fact. Central Appalachia is No. 1 in the nation in toothlessness. According to dentists, one of the main culprits is Mountain Dew soda. With 50 percent more caffeine than Coke or Pepsi, Mountain Dew seems to be used as a kind of anti-depressant for children in the hills. Kids drink the soda in school, at football games and before going to bed at night. And drinking the sugary soda loaded with caffeine often starts early. Dentists speak about families who put soda in baby bottles.

“Other sodas, too,” said Smith, “but Mountain Dew is unique because it has a lot of sugar and a lot of acid. If you’re taking a drink every 20 minutes, that’s like bathing the teeth in it all day.”

“It’s just rampant decay,” adds Dr. Stacie Moore-Martin of the Mud Creek Clinic in Grethel, Ky. “People are addicted to Mountain Dew. It’s terrible.”

      • Sunshine says:

Hillbilly, if you don’t mind my asking, where are you from? And thanks, I try my best to be a good mother, it’s actually quite entertaining when we go out. Our waiter last night couldn’t believe my kid was eating oysters and salad, but that’s just how it is. I always liked “gross” stuff as a kid too I guess it’s genetic lol.

      • hillbilly in the corner says:

        Mort
I was born and raised in the worst part of Eastern Kentucky sweetie Bloody Harlan Co , and I have a boat load of cousins and relatives and friends still living their in the old coal camp where I was raised and in that area and let me tell you not one of them are running around with rotten teeth from two much Mountain Dew. and these are some of the poorest people in the USA.. Yes they have dental problems becaise they lack the money to take the kids to the dentist. no insurance, no jobs, its not from Mountain Dew and that Mountain Dew phrase is a play of words on that dam report…..Godd for that Dentist in Barberville maybe he will bring his wagon over the mountain and down into the hollers were the really poor live but they arn’t in Barberville though they are poor there… Since the 1960’s and Kennedy sending in the first aid workers they have used that region as a dam drumbeat for their programs to raise moeny for this and that and that money never makes it back to the people it is supposed to be helping…very few and far between .
Why do you think so many of us had to leave our homes in the moutains that we loved….so we could make a living

      • Sunshine says:

Oh Hillbilly, I am from southern WV and I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about. My family has a lot of miners in it too, I know all about the whole Appalachian experience and, you know, I miss it every day. Well, not in winter lol. I’ve never been to KY though I have heard of Harlan County, it’s quite notorious…isn’t that show “Justified” set there? My husband watches that show (I generally don’t as I don’t like how they always make us look like ignorant cousin-f**king retards) what do you think of it?

    • the original bellaluna says:

Mort, have you seen the recent Mountain Dew hullabaloo about the guy who claimed to have found a mouse inside his can of Mountain Dew? Do you know what Pepsi’s defence was? “If there HAD been a mouse in his can of Mountain Dew, it would have been dissolved by the Mountain Dew, so he never would have known it.”

That is a TRUTH FACT, friend.

      • Fatkid says:

THAT is the most disgusting thing I have ever read!!!

First the never-changing McD’s fries in Supersize Me, now this…why do people put stuff that can’t decompose (be broken down) or stuff that can dissolve living flesh in their bodies?!? What happened to real food?

      • Lady D says:

It was in the papers in BC too ‘Belle. Couldn’t believe that was Pepsi’s defense.

    • Bodhi says:

It may well be true in Appalachia, but this family lives in Mcintyre, GA, which is south of Atlanta & no where near Appalachia.

But bad parenting isn’t confined to Appalachia, or the South, for that matter.

    • Charlotte says:

I’m going to Hell for it, but the term Appalachian Apple Juice made me laugh. Too bad it’s cheaper than real apple juice that they could get a teeny bit of nutrition from…

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@the original bells, omg! That is disturbing. I think I’m going to google it after I’m done posting!

@hillbilly, I am in no way implying that EVERYONE in that area is toothless or lacks the good sense to know that mountain dew is not a replacement for water. I’m from New Jersey and, many times, I think people are of the mind that we’re all jersey shore rejects with big hair, tight clothes and orange skin (and that we pronounce our home state “new joisey”). I’m definitely sensitive to regional steriotypes. The term “go-go juice” just brought to mind that study and the repercussions of dosing children with sugar and acids that eat away the enamel of your teeth. No doubt socioeconomics also come into play and I’m certainly aware that mountain dew (or any soda ) isn’t the only reason these kids have poor dental health.

@Bodhi, the term go-go juice just brought to mind Appalachian apple juice (since the contents of the drink seem to be similar). I was in no way implying that this woman lived “next door” to KY. I was merely trying to point out the effects of dosing children with sugary soda drinks, and that “study” just happened to come to mind because it was so shocking. I absolutely agree that bad parenting is not limited to certain regions.

  12. kit says:

This story reminded me of why i don’t watch this show. What kind of mother is this?

  13. Azurea says:

This poor kid doesn’t stand a chance.

  14. dorothy says:

Have you ever noticed most of these mom’s are uneducated and usually are in the lower income bracket?

    • JoLene says:

Yep. I’ve always wondered how the heck they afford all that pageant gear…guess my money’s going to good groceries and swimming lessons instead of kiddie crack and sequins.

    • crazycatlady says:

Yep. Most of them are from the rural south.

The show is a sad statement – on so many levels – about the current state of this country.

  15. Floridaseaturtle says:

Negligence that borders on abuse. This is obviously a parent that spends massive time prepping and training this child. In aproximately one half hour, simple google searches would show this mother that energy drinks can be very dangerous, especially for small children. It is not juice, they contain Taurine and Guarana, in addition to the caffiene and other ingredients that already exist. They have been documented to cause death in ATHLETES, grown men in competitive physical form. Does she also give the child Benadryl, during a long trip?…one might wonder. IMO, there is zero excuse for forcing this choice on her child. The info is too readily available. Someone, somewhere has to have warned her before now, I personally would believe no less.

  16. corny says:

This child will be a star soon, poster child in the war against diabetes, heaven help her cause her mom isn’t.

  17. Cathy says:

I watched the show once and was disgusted by it. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to have children.

  18. Lindy says:

You know, I’m all for calling a cease-fire in the mommy wars, and for promoting a more generous, gracious, live-and-let-live attitude toward parents, since most of us are trying our damnedest to the best we can for our kids, whether we work or stay home, home-school or send to public school, breast-feed or formula feed.

This sh!t is where I draw a line, though. This is not about letting someone make individual parenting choices, this whole pageant crap is about creating self-esteem monsters who believe they are only valuable if they are pretty and made up and sexy. And to give your kids energy drinks mixed with Mountain Dew? I freak out when my husband drinks that crap, and I can’t imagine what that’s doing to this kid’s kidneys at this age. espcially if she is drinking it regularly. Gross.

    • Floridaseaturtle says:

Lindy, ITA with the mommy war comment, and was thinking the same exact thing. I hardly ever, ever comment on another mom, besides the deplorable Kris Kardashian, but those girls are also grown adults, very, very conscious and in agreement with their choices. This mother’s admissions, backed by the comment that she does not care what other people ‘think’, is disgusting. Of course she cares what people think, who is she lying to? Herself at the very least. And, it can make you wonder, how far, and what else goes on in the quest to ‘win’. Is it money? I am going to go spit on the ground in that mother’s honor. I never thought of doing that before, but it seems appropriate.

      • gg says:

It’s not the money prize. The application fees and 3k dresses are far more expensive than any $250. or even $500 prize. Doesn’t even come close to reimbursing the parents for the costs. It’s just the winning.

  19. hillbilly in the corner says:

Doesn’t matter what size this woman is she is a fool, and a idoit, just like the Cherry Cheerleaders and the Debbie Doers how also make up the women how abuse their little girls in these pageants….and yes those pageants is a form of child abuse…and should be banned …They promote the sexual stereotyping of a female as a Sex object . What woman in her right mine wants her little girl looking like some of the little girl does and acting like they do…

  20. Delta Juliet says:

“There are far worse things that I can do to my kid.”

    Seriously?!?!?!?! That’s your argument?

  21. a nony mouse says:

well that was supremely f—ed up. and she is going to put that kid on a road to type 2 diabetes with all that sugar. despicable.

  22. RocketMerry says:

Red bull contains caffeine, inositolo, glucuronolactone, taurine and glucose. These ingredients not only give more energy and prevent from feeling tired, but also are known as bland (for friggin’ adults) ANTIDEPRESSANTS. That “mother” is actually drugging her own daughter.

What, it’s Red Bull when she’s six, cocaine when she’ll be fourteen and meth when she’ll be in her 20’s?! Who does that to their own kids?! And the “everybody in our business does it” excuse is sick and perverted.

  23. dena says:

    Dumb yokels.

For god’s sake, that woman is ugly. And her daughter is an ugly-acting brat whose beauty queen status is firmly stamped with an expiration date.

  24. Esmom says:

Omg, horrific on every level. As for the drink, my 10-year-old drank a Coke at a birthday party recently and was a crazed motormouth all afternoon then couldn’t fall asleep that night. Now he knows why I have discouraged caffeine until now. I cannot imagine what this go-go-juice would have done to him.

And seriously, like someone said above, why does a 6-year-old need an energy boost at that age anyway?

  25. Maritza says:

In a few years the kid will be just as obese and obnoxious as her mother, poor kid she doesn’t stand a chance.

  26. some bitch says:

We need breeding permits and fast.

  27. Michele says:

Where are the dads in all of this and why aren’t they taking responsibility and being blamed too?

    • Kelly says:

In the case of “Honey Boo Boo Chile,” the father is shown on the show, and what a pathetic case he is. His teeth are a complete disaster (confirming Morticians’ comments above). On another message board, someone commented that the money spent on the pageants could’ve been spent getting Daddy some new teeth to replace his rotted stumps.

He also seems to be “slow,” and speaks so poorly that he has to be subtitled… And yes, he is a “native” English speaker. So depressing.

      • Bodhi says:

Ok, whoa. Many Southerners speak slowly & that has NOTHING to do with intelligence. He is probably mush mouthed due to his lack of teeth. How knows why he is missing teeth, but it probably isn’t due to Appalachian Apple Juice as the family lives in Mcintyre, GA which is now where near Appalachia.

I think this particular family is quite vile, but there is no need to speculate more bad things about them. They do enough on their own

      • Kelly says:

I certainly did not say anything about Southerners in general. The way HE speaks has a lot to do with his lack of intelligence, but his accent certainly does not help. (He’d also have to be mentally deficient in order to have sex with that woman, no?)

Also, if the child drinks Mountain Dew all the time, it’s not a stretch to think that they ALL drink Mountain Dew all the time. It matters not a whit whether they live in Appalachia or in Georgia – their behavior is documented on TV.

      • Gradstudenteatinghotpockets says:

So quick story before I get to my point:
My friends and I were watching “The Help” a month or so ago. There was a total of 5 of us. 3 of the people had never been south of DC…ever. My other friend and I are both southern and so are our families (but we don’t have really thick accents, just a little hint of one).

One (of the three that had not been south of DC ever) BEGGED for people to turn subtitles on during the movie because she couldn’t understand anything “the help” were saying. The other 2 were having difficulties but they could still get most of the dialogue.

I’m not sure where you’re from or what your experience is with the different accents of the South (and then within that there are obviously many, many differences) but if you’re not used to hearing the very thick accents then you know…you need subtitles.

I know you’re not intending to say anything mean about Southerners in general it’s just that people hear “The Southern Accent” and generally perceive those people with the accent as “dumb” or having lower intelligence. I think a better way to describe this guy as a man that probably lacked a full 16 years of formal education and is from a lower socio economic status with a wife that is nothing short of horrendous and a child that will probably need therapy later in life…ha.

  28. Cletus says:

these pageants need to be outlawed. i’m not even kidding. i’m thinking it ought to be a capitol offense.

  29. Agnes says:

Good god. What awful, abusive parents (mostly mothers, I assume). YES to patenting licenses!!!

  30. missanne says:

The mother sounded exactly like I thought she would. Thats the saddest thing Ive seen (today). She’ll have diabetes by age 10 and have to push her double amputee mother around in a wheelchair to her dialysis appointments…

  31. Lio says:

That “mother” is the disgusting pig that burped during her interview on the show and they didn’t edit it out, gah, horrible people.

  32. maggie grace says:

Look at the Dad – he seriously has no teeth.

  33. Sienna says:

The mother and the kid are beyond disgusting. The kid is only 6 and already has more belly fat than me, I’m 23. That mother is one of the ugliest creatures I have ever seen. And the way they act, like pure trash, makes them even more revolting.

  34. Scarlet Vixen says:

What about the cardiac implications of that much caffeine in a young child? I drank a pot of coffee once in college when pulling an all-nighter, and I seriously thought my heart was going to explode. As another poster mentioned, healthy athletes have died from ingesting the chemicals they put in this crap.

  35. kay says:

I had no idea about mountain dew. baby bottles?? that’s horrible.

    Reality TV- Idiocracy.

If you have not seen the movie, please watch.

    • Desidarius says:

Yes this is straight out of “Idiocracy”

    • Lindy says:

I have used the movie Idiocracy for my college students (i’m a professor) when I’m teaching classic (19th c.) forms of economic theory dealing with the problems of capitalism. That movie is quite effective in demonstrating what can happen when we allow ourselves to be bought by a “bread and circuses” culture! It’s also funny as hell, in a terrifying way. “But it has electrolytes!!”

  36. I.want.shoes says:

I foresee a terrible future for Honey Boo Boo Child. As in obese-Courtney-Stodden terrible.

  37. the original bellaluna says:

My daughter was a dancer (before a knee injury – not dance-related); prior to, and during recitals and performances, there were meticulously planned meals and snacks.

No “crap” foods or beverages. The older girls could have coffee if they wanted (those start awfully early) but nothing obscenely sweet or fatty; nothing carbonated; no “heavy” foods, etc…

The mothers on this show are insane and/or ignorant to the nth degree.

    • Sunshine says:

Nothing wrong with coffee! I drink it all the time and it’s super good for you as long as it’s black. I give my toddler tea all the time, she loves oolong and lemongrass green tea, unsweetened of course. Caffeine is fine as long as you don’t overdo it but I know you probably already know this 🙂

      • Boots says:

You give your TODDLER caffeine? This is satire right?

      • Sunshine says:

No…plenty of people give their kids soda which is loaded with caffeine, HFCS and phosphoric acid and nobody bats an eye but for some reason tea is a problem? I do water it down a lot but it is a drink that she likes, that isn’t full of sugar or dangerous chemicals or GMOs, so what’s the problem? I also give her oysters, and basically anything she wants as long as it is real food, not processed. And she loves it all. The only thing she has ever turned down is Gatorade, would you consider that an appropriate drink for a kid? How about the foods that are marketed to kids? Do you read the labels on the things you give to your children? Believe me, caffeine is probably one of the LEAST horrible things you can feed a kid. Food safety is my former profession and healthful eating is my passion. I’d give my kid 50 bottles of espresso before I gave her one McDonald’s nugget.

      • Lisa says:

Haha, are you Italian? I started drinking coffee when I was a kid, too. Lots of milk, though, so it was more like a latte. Strangely enough, I can’t drink it now!

    • guilty pleasures says:

Bellaluna, too true, I have two kids in high level sports (one of them dance, coincidentally) and I spent more time than I can tell you preparing meals and snacks at home to bring with us. I invented (in my head) the mini-van micro-wave and fridge. I see now that some mini-vans do have a fridge or cooler in them.
I am of the belief that having kids means actually taking care of them….not abusing them as so many of these pageant parents do.
that mom is vile, ugly inside and out, the daughter is horrid, and her extreme couponing just brings more horrible non-foods into the house.

  38. morgfunk says:

I like having freedom of expression, free speech and not having censorship. That being said, this should not be on television. And the mother’s should all, well most, be put in jail for child abuse. This kind of tomfoolery only encourages people. And it’s exploitative – I’m hoping the cast of T &T’s is cut from the cloth of the most ignorant people in the US, but still, it’s pretty terrible that our culture not only tolerates this type of behavior for young girls, but glorifies it and the fact that is passes for entertainment? No words. This is reason #25 why America is going down the toilet. That little girl and her mom can barely formulate a grammatically correct sentence. Disgusting! Bring back art, science, culture, and intelligence programming.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

It wouldn’t be on television if people didn’t watch BOYCOTT. I normally don’t even click on the links to T&T b/c I’m trying to do my part, but this just seemed so awful. DON’T EVEN WATCH FOR THE TRAIN WRECK, MAKE IT GO AWAY!

  39. Kim says:

Sickening! This mother is abusing her child. caffeine is a drug of sorts esp for kids. Kids should not have caffeine at all. Be it in in soda, coffee or any other form. Disgusting parenting. Poor kid!

  40. Fue McCormick says:

My God … that woman looks like a giant turd …

  41. Sam says:

Who watches this show? Why do we keep giving these horrible “mom-pimps” the time of day? Nip this crap in the bud now and stop watching the freak show. There are literally thousands of other things to watch, let this one finally die. WORST freaking show on television. Disgusting on so many levels. Poor kids. All the insults these children get from grown ups are being directed at the wrong people. The parents are the trash here, and the kids have live in it.

  42. Jeannified says:

What a lunatic…both of them! Ugh! What a way to bring up a child. Dispicible!

  43. Jackie says:

these pageants need to be banned. to promote the drugging and sexualization of little girls is obscene. this is abuse, pure and simple.

  44. Feebee says:

This woman’s a poster child for those who support the arguments that we need more laws because people are STUPID.

Because for most of us it’s not necessary but the only way she might stop if it’s illegal. I would suggest a warning label against giving it to kids under 12 but I don’t know if she can read.

  45. Stubbylove says:

Hideous – she looks like Jabba the Hut. Why does everyone in this family have a nickname? Beyond the obvious child abuse going on with that ridiculus drink – why the hell does she have 100 bottles laundry soap??? B’cuz she’s the coupon queen?? Waste of space and that child is growing up to be just like her. Ugh – population freeze – STAT.

  46. Bluebear says:

Yes, this drink is upsetting. Clearly we are all on the same page here. Let me point out what made me the most upset. It was the comments that this little girl made such as,”I want to win MONEY!” and “A dolla will make me holla honey boo boo!”. Most six year olds don’t understand money really. Sure, they know that mommy and daddy use it at the store, but do they really know what a dollar buys? Not usually. The second comment, that is a joke about a stripper that I believe was in a movie years ago. I know, the little girl doesn’t know that, but these comments are much more telling of the life she is living than just the drink. Immediately after saying the second comment she looked off camera and laughed then got a little shy. She is performing for her mother, or someone. Here is what appears to be taught to her from what I am seeing and hearing (no I do not watch the show): I need to be pretty and sexy in order to make money to make my parent happy. I need to use artificial stimuli to be good enough to make money. People don’t think I am entertaining without my artificial stimuli and thus will not watch me, and I will not make money, and this will make mommy upset. That sounds like a setup for a child who abuses medications such as Ritalin that are used in colleges and high schools freely by children to improve testing scores. How many of you know a drunk who drinks to be the life of a party? Now I could be wrong, but this is what appears to be going on in my eyes. I fear that if my daughter grows up believing that her worth lies in being merely decorative, then one day she will believe that is all she is. Beauty fades, and who will she be then? It is only her mind that does not fade, and that is where I will focus her self esteem. On the things she is capable of with her intelligence, not her face or body. Beauty is from within and can not be substituted with mass quantities of make-up or short dresses. Don’t sell your children short, they are the future, and I am not trying to be glib.

    • Gradstudenteatinghotpockets says:

Ha, the best part of watching people from my undergrad try to use ritalin or adderall to study for finals or do projects and stuff.

The kids would take it and decide to do something else until the medicine kicked in (obviously it isn’t instant since it’s a medicine…but you know, people can feel it after about 20 minutes or so). The guys would start playing COD or whatever and 8 hours go by……and they’re still playing COD. They wasted all the time/focus/energy on the game instead of the papers. But hey, it catches up.

Also, if you don’t need those drugs and they are not prescribed for you they have AWFUL side effects that can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. hahaha (another thing that is funny to see).

    • crazycatlady says:

Like I said above, it’s a sad statement about the state of this country. These people’s only “education” is what they see on TV or in magazine pictures (because I doubt many of them can read). Our educational system is in shambles, especially in poor, rural areas. The only concept of “success” for them is to become famous. And yes, since the mother has no chance in hell of achieving it herself, she’s going to pimp her child in these pageants or whatever.

I hope TLC does a reality show in the future called “Toddlers & Tiaras: Where Are They Now.”

This child is already on her way to looking like her mother. I’m sure she lives on a diet of that juice and chicken McNuggets.

    • Lisa says:

“A dolla will make me holla honey boo boo!” Does she really?! F-ck me flying a kite, I’d like to punch that mother.

  47. Lauren says:

The mother of the Honey Boo Boo Child should be in a rubber room. Mommy is a controlling coupon clipping Mommie Dearest.

  48. Aurelia says:

I saw the episode where honey boo boo drank her juice. Her eyes were glazed afterwards leading me to believe something alcoholic was also in the mix. You know, red bull for energy, booze to loosen honey boo boo up.

  49. HappyJoyJoy says:

She is right, There are far worse things she could do to the kid, like letting her dress as a hooker from pretty woman… oh wait…. In all seriousness, this show makes me sick to my stomach, the only thing I know from it is from the soup and that is already enough. Children have a right to be children. They’re taking everything away from them in hopes they’ll turn out to be “the next” whoever. It is not only neglectful & abusive, but the fact that TLC profits from it makes my insides churn.

  50. Jeannie says:

Why are the mothers of these contestants usually fat?!

  51. GT says:

Good Lord. I’m still trying to erase the image of that grossly overweight mother burping on camera and jiggling her massive belly fat, not to mention the grotesque faces she was making for the camera. I need an eye wash. And as for the whole pagaent thing and this “go go juice”, it’s all freakin bizarre. This was something out of deliverance country, something you would find in some inbread backwoods remote area. uggghhh….

    • JD says:

Yeah, it’s going to take a long time (and lots of mind bleach) to get the image of that woman out of my head.

She is as gross as Bombshell McGee.

  52. Boobookitty says:

    Oh, America.

  53. AquaticMusings says:

This child is seriously obese. Show her tummy? My gosh. I am thinner than her and I am a 24-year-old woman. Wow.

  54. Franny says:

okay, I just watched the video for the first time (work blocks youtube) and I just have to say…

are you f-ing kidding me with these people.

first of all, that child does not need any more energy. if anything, it needs a run around the block and to chill.

second of all, young children like that should not be that over weight. and on top of that, they should not be proud of being overweight. her metabolism will never be as high as it is now, so for the love of god, lay off the sugar drinks, drink some skim milk and do more than just walk across a stage rubbing your belly.

third of all, someone please make a gif of that mother dancing along. holy. christ.

  55. mollination says:

I can’t understand how people can actually watch this show. Even if there’s an entertainment value present or you find it revolting/hilarious/etc. how can you watch it? It seems just as bad as the moms allowing this stuff to happen. Almost like an accessory after the fact. I couldn’t even finsih that clip on the bottom I was so horrified.

    • Lisa says:

It’s disgusting. Sometimes I think I’ll watch it for entertainment, but within five seconds, I’m swearing at the TV. I can’t believe these people are real. Even if they’re asked to play it up, it’s still sick to glorify that kind of behavior.

  56. bored says:

These pageant people are surreal. How awful is the child gonig to feel when she gets out in the real world and discovers her family are freaks and that she is not actually… uh… attractive. Particularly since mama seems to be a window into her future.

  57. Brenda says:

That mom should really be in jail. We have a friend who keeps insisting that we put my niece in pageants but my sister n I keep saying no. Who in their right mind would want to do that to their child? Children are children and should be allowed to have a great childhood.

  58. Lisa says:

So tired of these fatty cornfed idiots and their little brats.

  59. Diane says:

If we were talking about dogs being abused and drugged at the Westminster Dog Show, people would be up in arms.

  60. pintaLOL says:

this is so inappropriate! this mom is setting her kid up to be an e-child when she grows up.
