Did Jennifer Aniston go to the Ivy to do charity work?

Last week’s soon-to-be-replaced tabloids are still pushing the “Jennifer Aniston is pregnant” story, with In Touch running a “Jen’s Bump Gets Bigger” story and Star laughably featuring her in a very misleading cover story that screams “She’s having John’s babies – TWINS for Jen!”

MSNBC’s The Scoop has some insider information on why the tabloids run false Aniston stories – it’s easier to get information about her than about her ex, Brad Pitt, and is subsequently easier to spin that into a sensational angle that only slightly resembles the truth. Case in point: Star calling Aniston’s acupuncture sessions “fertility treatments.”

When Aniston showed up at paparazzi hot spot the Ivy on Friday, a lot of people assumed that she did it to show off her perfectly flat non-pregnant stomach. With all the magazines in the grocery stores declaring her pregnant, who can blame her really?

Just Jared says that Aniston went to the Ivy on Friday because she had to do some charity work there, though.

Also, here’s the real story behind on-again girlfriend Jennifer Aniston’s “photo op” at The Ivy. An insider tells JustJared.com that the restaurant’s back entrance was blocked, so Aniston had no choice but to enter through the front. The 39-year-old actress was there to sign a contract with a chef and some big-time caterers for a health and nutrition school program she is working on to help overweight children. Aniston, who is funding the program, was in the kitchen for the entire time and didn’t enter the dining room at all.

[From JustJared]

I don’t get the extreme feelings toward Aniston, and even if she did go to the Ivy as a tactical move to deny pregnancy rumors there’s no reason to bash her for it. The tabloids have been calling her pregnant for a couple of weeks and that’s got to be annoying.

It could be true that she was there to work on a charity program for schools. She was seen out at an elementary school in LA in October. It’s worth noting that if Aniston has been arranging charity work behind the scenes she hasn’t said anything to the press about it, and the news is only barely eking out.

Thanks Karen for the heads up on the JustJared story.

Here’s a video from Hollywood.tv via ET showing the paparazzi swarm surrounding Aniston’s visit to The Ivy on Friday:

If she was just going to sign contracts why not just courier them over? Personally I wouldn’t wear a vest to a business meeting, but at least it’s not a strapless number I suppose.

If the rest of the story is true (which it could be – herself and Brad were/are friends with chef Jamie Oliver who led a similar crusade in the UK and perhaps is taking a leaf out of his book) then well done her – and well done the owners of the Ivy for signing their name to it and allowing their chefs to get involved.

It’s a route which is different from the political sphere, but could certainly have a positive benefit on children’s lives.

It’s certainly a vast improvement on the idea of her talking about “water nutrition” (wha?) which could lead to her mentioning the fact that Smart Water has lots of vitamins and minerals to a classroom of children.

Well, if the story is true..Kudos to Jen! Obesity in america (and most sadly in children) is reaching epic proportions, this is such a worthy cause to jump behind. Even when a person has nothing else, they should at least be able to say they have their health! Learning to take care of ones body at a young age with healthy habits is paramount!

So it was all for the kids? Even the tweaked nipples? Sounds like damage control to me.

Just like when she went to an elementary school to do “Charity work” by talking about the benefits of smart water, a company she is paid to promote.

I am pretty sure a courier could have brought the papers to sign or she could have waited until the back door was free, because it certainly was when she left. This is damage control by her publicist because only d-list celebs like Paris Hilton go to the Ivy because they are desperate for attention.

I don’t know why, but I actually believe this story! I know some of you are going to think I’m an idiot for it, but I just hate how this woman becomes the human pinata every time the tabs get bored and have nothing better to write about… or, per the above, if they can’t get any dirt on her counterpart(s). I hope she is doing this because I, too, think it is so sad when obesity affects children.

  6. geronimo says:

Why is she shielding herself from the paps? Isn’t she used to being photographed all the time? And if this story is true, wouldn’t it be something she’d publicise herself, rather than have it bouncing around as rumour, since it’s such a good cause?

Meanwhile in war-torn Afghanistan, AJ huddled in a bomb crater with some children to bring awareness to true suffering in the world. While American kids are pigging out and blowing up like balloons- they are starving to death.

Lack of self-control is NOT a disease, regardless of what you’ve been told.

  8. Jeanne says:

I hope not, you can see her nips thru that T-shirt. Whenever I chaperone at my kid’s school I have to follow a dress code too. I don’t show my nips and they’re almost as nice as JA’s.

  9. RAN says:

    1-she isn’t at a school
2-maybe she’s shielding herself because she was casually dressed and didn’t want her photo taken
3-Dante – you’re better than that..I don’t recall AJ EVER being in the line of fire – perhaps you weren’t inferring that, but that’s how I took it. Besides that, charity is charity
4-If she’s doing charity without publicly BLARING it to the world, then I have a ton of respect for her
5-And the reason I commented on this thread – any good business person knows that the way to bring people in and get them to do things for you, is to show up in person. Sending items by courier makes it seem as if she thinks she’s better than the working man/woman.
6-Had she sent the items by courier, you people would have jumped on her and accused her of thinking she’s better than the average working man/woman – geez 🙄

  10. vdantev says:

    @Ran

Point taken; but being Afghanistan- there’s nowhere truly safe for anyone in that country, so I stand by my statement. 😉

I pretty much agree with the rest of your post, but as I’d brought up the courier I just thought I’d clarify my position on this.

The way it was phrased in the article sounded like she was dropping them off as other sources had her not remaining there very long. Perhaps there’s a cultural difference at work here, because here contracts are often sent and returned by post or courier. But perhaps you’re right, the documents were sent on ahead and she was there for a group meeting and to finalise the contracts. Time will tell when we see this fantastic initiative being rolled out. 😉

I still think that a vest-top is an odd choice for a business meeting though 😛 , and I come from a working background where people have “good” fleeces and anoraks! 😆

Ahh… Mairead, I wasn’t taking you to task, although I guess my comment sounded like it. That’s what I get for hurrying through my comment. Alas, I don’t have access to the site at work and was on my way out the door, so I was trying to jot stuff down quickly. Obviously I would NEVER intend to insult one of the wisest people who post here (and one of my favorites). Apologies to you 😳

For the record, I HATE the shirt – completely unnecessary – but I have no idea how she thinks so I can’t understand why she would wear it for that type of meeting. Questionable taste. I can see why she would show up in person though.

@ Dante – now you’ve helped me see where you were going with your comment. Makes perfect sense – although I also stick by my ‘charity is charity’ comment also.
