Brandi Glanville: ‘It’s hard to grow older, especially in this town. I’ll cop to Botox, fillers’

“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'” Brandi Glanville has long been the subject of plastic surgery rumors. She’s a lovely woman, although you can tell by looking at her that she’s had Botox and fillers. I’m currently in a rural-ish area on the east coast, but I have friends in more urban ares that have had injectables, and I’ve written here about considering it. It does seem much more common in California. I think if I was living in a city again and a girlfriend recommended a dermatologist that there are times when I would have gotten it done. Now that I’ve been writing about celebrities for a while, and watching their frozen faces try to emote, I’m cautiously staying away. That’s just to say that I understand how it’s easier to get those procedures when all your friends are doing it, it’s accessible, and has somehow become the new “normal.” Looking in from the outside, it does look bizarre and unnatural.

In a new interview in Shape, Brandi explains that she has had Botox and fillers, and admits that it’s difficult to get older. I especially like what she says about how she’s in the dating pool with much younger women and feels the pressure to look younger. Here’s part of what Brandi said, thanks to Radar:

The gorgeous Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opens up to SHAPE in an exclusive new interview, revealing all of her plastic surgery secrets, as well as how she copes with all of the criticism.

“Having grown up modeling, I’m very self-aware of my physical appearance,” explains the mother of Eddie Cibrian’s children. “It’s hard to grow older, especially in this town where everyone is perfect! They’re all 20 years old and gorgeous, and I’m now in the same dating pool as them, yikes, it’s really hard! This town makes you insecure.”

In addition to lasers and photo facials to deal with her issue of adult acne and Melasma, the 39-year-old beauty dmits that she gets a little more help looking fabulous.

“And yes, I’ll cop to a few plastic surgery procedures like Botox and fillers,” she admits. “I think everyone should do what makes them feel good but remember: Less is more!”

Although she is enjoying her life in the public eye, Brandi admits that not everyone is a fan of hers.

“People have said horrible things like I’m ‘plastic’ and I’m a bad mom. I think after three years of hearing it I have just developed a thick skin,” she says. “I think it’s human nature, and I know what they say isn’t true so I’ve learned to not take it to heart.”

There’s more with Brandi at Shape.com, including Brandi’s diet and exercise plan. She just says she tries to achieve balance with her diet, and that she has had the same Pilates trainer for the past nine years, whom she sees three times a week. She also always takes the stairs instead of using elevators, which is great advice that I never seem to follow.

As far as the Botox and fillers stuff, it’s nice that Brandi is admitting it and not trying to fudge like she hasn’t done it or has only had facials or something. I think Brandi should lay off for a while. Too much of that can result in a very unnatural look that doesn’t look “normal” outside of certain pockets of the US where everyone does it. She’s only 39 and the Botox has the effect of making women look older than they are.

This week’s Enquirer has the news that Bruce Willis’ very pregnant wife, Emma Hemming, is considering joining RHOBH at the insistence of her good friend, Sylvester Stallone’s wife Jennifer Flavin. Hemming is also close friends with Brandi Glanville from their modeling days. The Enquirer quotes a source show says “Jen [Flavin] thinks the two of them together can ‘take over’ the show – and she loves that their hubbies are friends too.” Stallone is supposedly supportive while Bruce Willis is the hold out. Bruce is “wary because Emma is about to become a first-time mom. He’s also not thrilled about having a reality TV crew following them everywhere.” I can’t imagine Bruce greenlighting this in any way, and I hope it’s not true. If it is, it’s a surefire way to muck up his marriage.

Brandi is shown in August at a TAO beach house event. She’s also shown on 2/21/12 at a spray tan place. Credit: WENN.com

    Brandi’s COOL!

  2. Cerulean says:

No big surprise but she needs to stop for a while. She has been looking overworked for awhile and those cheeks are just horrible. She’s getting a cat face with a touch of Wildenstein. Just a little and if she continues she will go too far.

    • Jayna says:

I agree. She was looking fantastic, but lately a little overdone. I have a friend who is just gorgeous, always had envious looks from women and men fawning over her. She is in her late 30s and says it is hard being single with all the young 20 somethings out there. I hope Brandi doesn’t waste time on pretty boys younger and finds a man of substance while she is still young enough to pick and choose. She lives in a shallow town where beauty and youth abound and why 40 somethings go overboard trying to compete and instead look fake.

      • Vesper says:

Brandi has mentioned that she is or was casually dating a surfer. Does she really strike u as someone who is looking for a man of substance? Every thing about her screams superficial. Any conversation she initiates is about physical appearance, sex, drinking or partying.

  3. Marjalane says:

Too much botox and fillers gives you sideways face. Brandi’s definitely got that left forhead, right chin, look going on.

  4. Dibba says:

I used to think she was pretty

    • Jess says:

She would be pretty as a brunette and minus the fake-bake. Bottle blonde is WAY over-rated in H-wood…

  5. QQ says:

Bwahahaha like what? She thought it was fooling anyone!?! Of Course she has fillers an god knows what else her face is kinda like her worst feature all plasticky made of lies and botox! She has a good body and i guess nice hair but come on that face?. No Bueno

    • Johanna says:

My thoughts exactly. What part of that was supposed to shock us Brandi?

    • OriginalTiffany says:

I agree. I kind of gasped when I heard she was 39. She looks 10 years older, which is the norm for these ladies. I think it ages you 10 years AND looks like you are trying to hide your real age. They all morph into 49yo’s. Like LL, KK they all start looking waxy, jacked and old.
Why would a woman around this age need this? I’d maybe do some light resurfacing, but nothing else. My mom and SIL had full peels and it was quite a process that looked REALLY painful.

      • Pia says:

I agree, I just assumed she was in her early 40s or so. I feel that when women in their 30s and 40s are already trying to turn back the clock on their face, they end up looking “older trying to look younger” instead of actually looking younger. It’s a great way to look like a woman in her 50s trying to go back to her 20s. I think the problem is the obsession with being as wrinkle-free as possible, instead of just looking “better” for your age.

  6. Kimbob says:

Celebitchy, I’d just like to comment on what you said about Emma Hemming possibly joining RHOBH. I agree wholeheartedly!

Reading that Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin is trying to make this a possibility for Emma makes me think that alot of these women married to high-profile stars don’t have much to do other than go to lunch together in Beverly Hills/Hollywood & discuss “possibilities” for each other.

I know it’s not really my business, but they seem to have vacuous lives. I wonder if any of them have any real substance. Do they do any charity work or something along those lines that is more character building and grounding?

If not, they’re all doomed IMO, & I’d also like to add Jenn Flavin has always seemed to me to be dim-witted, for sure. Yes, that’s the kiss of death for Emma’s marriage, for sure!

    • Jayna says:

I don’t buy for a second the Emma story. Bruce is an A-lister, and Emma is extremely classy and carries herself with grace. If anything, she seems to shy away from the limelight, save her modeling gigs.

I can believe Jennifer. She has her massive skin care line and probably thinks being on the show will help her business and she is sweet but more low budget.

    • the original bellaluna says:

There is no way on God’s green I would be on one of those “RHO insert-city-here” shows.

ESPECIALLY with a new baby; a husband with an ex who just got out of rehab and is going through an ugly divorce, with whom he has 3 adult children!

JUST SAY NO, EMMA! She’s neither in the position where she needs the money to support her children *coughdeadbeateddiecough* nor does she need to promote her “product.”

  7. HadleyB says:

I think she’s gorgeous! But she doesn’t need anything more done. No more fillers. Good laser work, just up keep on Botox as it wears off and that’s it!

No wonder they hate her on Real Housewives.. instead they should ask her who her Dr is!

  8. Talie says:

She has no choice but to admit it because it’s pretty damn obvious she tweaked her face.

  9. Heidi says:

These pix don’t do her justice and orange is NOT her color. She tweeted she never did print article because she doesn’t come off at her best. In interviews and live, she’s stunning. In the still, not.
Waiting impatiently to see whether she will return to RH.

    • beclove says:

Co-sign, Brandi looks really great on RHOBH. Hope she comes back!

      • Vesper says:

I read a couple of weeks ago that Lisa, Kyle, Adrianne, Taylor and Brandi are returning. Camilia is on the fence. Not sure if anything is signed.

  10. Seymour Butts says:

How about copping to the two nose jobs, the boob job and the cheek implants (which aren’t good at all). Cheek implants SO obvious. I never thought she was attractive, but she’s a step up from Mr. Ed, that’s for sure 🙂

    • Eileen says:

“two noase jobs” ?? How exactly do you know she’s had two nose jobs? lol

    • Heidi says:

No cheek implants but has Huron Indian blood~~~from her father’s side. Don’t believe any nose jobs either. Breast aug she admitted to.
Look at her childhood pix on her Twitter and she looks pretty much the same now as then. Always been a cutie

    • Jezi says:

No nose job. Eddie broke her nose not too long ago when they were riding their motorcycles but that’s about it. Cheeks are as someone else said, she’s Huron Indian. Had the same cheeks since she was small. She admits to everything so she would not have a problem stating any work she had done.

      • thetruthhurts says:

How did Eddie “break her nose” when they were riding their bikes? That sounds worse than I am sure it was (it sounds like he hit her) so can you clarify? If they are each on a motorcycle, how does a nose get broken? Thanks!

      • thetruthhurts says:

Nevermind the question Jezi, I didn’t read the comment right below with the answer! 🙂

  11. lisa d says:

She said she got a nose job because her nose got broke in motorcycle wreck.

  12. Sumodo1 says:

Brandi is my kind of gal–the “If you don’t have anything nice to say…come here and sit by me!” type. Seriously, I’m 55 and dating, and honey, if you want to see competition, COME TO FLORIDA!

  13. the original bellaluna says:

At least she cops to it. Unlike SOME people. (YOU know who you are.)

  14. Lucy says:

Well she needs to get her money back , it is still lopsided.

  15. The Truth Fairy says:

I was on the fence about Brandi before, but I will begrudgingly admit that I’m starting to like her.

  16. Cirque28 says:

I bet Brandi would make a good talk show host. She’s funny and laid back and seems to have no filter. I could see her doing something light, like on the E channel.

IDK about botox. When you first get it, it’s like… you made the lines disappear! Awesome! But when you pull back and look at the whole face, is it really an improvement?

Maybe it’s like when guys go bald. Plugs and rugs and combovers are very odd and distracting to the eye. It’s so much sexier to just be bald. And (unfortunately, because it IS hard to grow older), I think botox and fillers might be in the same category.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

Great analogy! Sexier to be natural than to get jacked and unnatural, guys with plugs and rugs seem really desperate.

      • Cirque28 says:

Thank you. I was kinda thinking aloud. I’ve totally had botox and fillers, but, like Brandi, I’m trying to find my way on these issues.

One thing is that we can’t see ourselves in 3 dimensions, so maybe what looks good in the mirror looks weird to someone who is face to face with us in an animated conversation. IDK.

    • Jennifer12 says:

I’d like to see her have a blog or advice column. She’s a strong woman with a great attitude. I feel the same way about plastic surgery; it just doesn’t work and you become cat faced. There ARE women out there who don’t do anything to their faces and accept things the way they are and I admire those women. Wish Brandi felt the same way, but I admire her honesty and willingness to talk about it.

  17. marisa says:

Love her. She is gorgeous. Now will yoou retire the first picture. Show one in a bikini.

  18. dena says:

Botox and fillers? No. Say it’s not true, Brandi. [eye roll]

  19. bruno says:

New pictures please. Looking forward to seeing her as a housewife on Season 3

  20. littlestar says:

She needs to lay off the tanning. Also, what the hell is she holding? A blow dryer with a long hose?

  21. Holden says:

In California, that’s par for the course. My ex had botox and never told me and I couldn’t even tell, and my current GF has fake shake and has had botox and fillers. It’s sad, but that’s what all the magazines and web sites are telling women they need to keep up right now…

    • janie says:

It’s true. I’m 20 and some of my friends are ALREADY getting Botox–because they’re afraid of getting wrinkles!! It’s insane how we’ve become so scared of getting old that we spend hundreds of dollars trying to hide wrinkles that don’t exist yet. And I’m living in Vancouver, a very non-superficial place. I can’t image what it’s like to live in Hollywood.

  22. Rita says:

I wish Brandi and all women would embrace the aging process with much more confidence and grace. I, for one think a naturally seasoned woman is much prettier and more attractive than one who has even a small amount of work done.

Brandi, just be you and stop comparing yourself to younger women. Vanity is a dangerous thing and a beautiful woman is a terrible thing to waste.

    • brin says:

Well said. I wish she would stop saying that she’s old because she’s not.

      • Sapphire says:

Hear you, Brin. I’m 54 and refuse to admit I am old. Middle-aged, thank you. And dating though I really don’t have to worry about 20 something competition in my age bracket.

    • NancyMan says:

Rita — well said. A voice of reason..

  23. HappyMom says:

I think Kimberly Quaid, Dennis’ soon to be ex-wife, looks like perfect RHOBH material!

  24. skuddles says:

Clearly she uses botox and fillers so better she just admit it… Drives me nuts when people insist they haven’t had work done when it’s just as obvious as the nose job on their face.

  25. bitta83 says:

She’s a very pretty lady who takes good care of her body, but yeah she’s gotta start thinking about taking it easy with the fillers. Don’t want her to turn into Taylor Armstrong, who I’m convinced has mercury posioning or some shit from her disgusting back alley plastic surgery. Thankfully Brandi also has a great on-screen personality, so if she really does end up messing up her face, she’s got that to fall back on. Love watching her on RHOBH, hopefully things will go well for her both on the show and in her dating life.

  26. Danny says:

She almost looks like Melora Hardin.

  27. charity says:

Take a look at pictures of brandis boys and you can see they both have her cheeks and lips. really gorgeous boys, and seriously doubt that they have had anything done.

  28. djork says:

Her head sort of looks like a waxed potato.

  29. TheOriginalKitten says:

I can’t fully get behind any chick that contributes to the gross-ness that is reality TV, but yeah, everything I’ve read about Brandi makes me like her. She just seems really honest and personally, I think she looks damn good.

  30. Dimebox says:

Can anyone tell me why her skin is always so shiny. It doesn’t look oily, just very shiny. Is that from laser? And are women doing Botox, fillers etc. to look good to men or to other women? My husband hates the lifted, filled, taut look and says most men do. Maybe not in California.

    • Vesper says:

Apparently, botox can make skin look shiny.

      • labyrinth says:

can someone enlighten me, is the shiny skin, oily look a sign of botox?

      • hunter says:

The smoothness Botox creates can reflect more light as a solid uncreased expanse of skin but Botox DOES NOT make you oily.

Oily-ness would be from make-up or natural skin type.

  31. beclove says:

Glad to see Shape mag redeeming itself. Maybe its time to give it another try.

  32. sean says:

I can’t believe she is 39 with two sons & has that killer bod. That is some good genes. Really like this woman. She’s very honest.

  33. original sandy says:

she does look good, but please no more enhancement, stop now, it’s obvious now, later it will be over done and too late.everyone in hollywood looks so fake, it’s hard, i know, try to grow old gracefully, unless it gets really bad, guys notice that, some look more older even with surgery.

  34. tom says:

    Her body is sick. Wow

  35. cbear says:

i think she’s super pretty, but too much lasering and botox might age her quicker than she wants.

she looks super pretty in that cute pink dress in all the new smooching photos of her and the mystery man. i hope he’s a nice guy!!

  36. bgirl says:

Her body is ridiculous. She really doesn’t need so many fillers and less BOTOX would give her some facial expressions…softer would be prettier on her.

  37. C.Lynn says:

Brandi’s body looks like it should belong to the crypt keeper.
This woman is skin and bones with plastic bolt-ons just like Leann Rimes.
Eddie has a type. He likes shapeless boys with implants.
But carry on Brandi Bunch! You keep drinking that cool-aid and telling yourself that she’s attractive. The rest of us will continue to laugh! 😀

    • bruno says:

Who is us. Just speak for yourself & don’t make believe you have followers.

    • Snowflake says:

      I agree, I don’t think she’s attractive. and she’s too skinny, imo.

    • opinion8edx2 says:

…women always resort to the physical feature slams…then they bitch about society being too focused on a woman’s physical features…

  38. Lorif says:

I’m sorry but I thought she was already well into her forties. She looks way overdone.

  39. Stephanie says:

She is a naturally beautiful woman who needs to lay off the injections.

  40. Jennifer12 says:

Fascinated by how everyone acts like being near 40 or in your 40s qualifies you for the grave. Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek, and Sofia Vergara are all 40 and over. I hope I’m half as attractive as they are when I’m over 40. Helen Mirren is my personal ideal of how to age gracefully and graciously. I don’t like the fillers and Botox, but Brandi is an attractive woman who seems to have a fun, cool personality that appeals to lots of people. I think she’s too thin, but I know people that are very tall often are naturally thin. And I think she’d do better as a brunette, but most people who dye their hair blond would. It washes people out. I don’t know; she just seems like a cool, normal person trying to live her life and deal with the hand given her and who clearly adores her sons. Would love to see Shape give her an advice column or blog.

  41. Alti says:

pic3: She looks a little bit like an older version of Katherine Heigl, or?

  42. Moi says:

There’s nothing wrong with getting a little tweaked. But you have to know how to do it so minimally that no one notices except to say that you look rested and great. If it’s noticeable that you had something done whatsoever….it’s a fail.
