Bobbi Kristina talks to Oprah about her mom: “I can always feel her with me.”

Just reading some of these quotes from Bobbi Kristina on Oprah’s show honestly made me cry a little. I cannot imagine losing my mom like that and my heart goes out to her. Still, I do feel like it’s too soon for her to be giving interviews about her mom’s death. Oprah scored an interview with Whitney Houston’s 19 year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. (Update: DListed has the video, and it’s below now.) From the little I could see on the video, Bobbi Kristina seems in good spirits. She finds a lot of comfort in her fond memories of her mom, and belief that she’s with her in spirit. Here’s some of what she said:

In her first interview since Whitney Houston’s death, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown said she’s “doing as good as I possibly can” and recalled the tender last moments she shared with her superstar mother before her sudden death last month.

“She’s always with me,” said the 19-year-old, Houston’s only child and sole heir. “Her spirit is strong, it’s a strong spirit. I feel her pass through me all the time.”

“I can hear her voice in spirit talking to me, ‘Keep talking to me. I got you,'” says Brown. “She’s always with me. I can always feel her. I can always feel her with me. She always asked me,’Do you need me?’ And I caught myself, out of nowhere, I didn’t even know I said it, I said, ‘I’ll always need you.’ ”

Brown made the comments in a Sunday interview with Oprah Winfrey on Winfrey’s network, OWN, that also featured Pat Houston, the singer’s manager and sister-in-law, and Gary Houston, the brother of Whitney Houston.

Brown credited her family and God for helping her cope since her mother’s death on Feb. 11 at the age of 48.

“It comes in waves. One moment I can be happy and laughing, but then it comes over me. It’s my mom,” she said.

Houston, who had struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past but according to family had been apparently clean, was found in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on the eve of the Grammys. She was to attend a pre-Grammy party the night she died.

Brown said the night before her mother’s death, she asked Houston to spend the night with her.

“I slept in her arms all day, all night long,” said Brown, whose father is singer Bobby Brown.

Pat Houston said in the days before Houston died, the singer had not been abusing drugs, despite reports that she had been acting erratically.

[From Huffington Post, with additional quotes from People.com]

Bobbi Kristina also said that she just automatically wakes up at 5:00 am every day and starts praying for her mom. She said that she believes her mom turns on and off lights in the house. She added “I can still laugh. I can still sit there and I can still talk to her.” She also thinks that Whitney’s spirit told her that it was ok for her to “come home.”

As for the other interview on Oprah’s show last night, it’s worth noting that Pat Houston is not the sister-in-law who sold Whitney out to the National Enquirer years ago, nor is she the sister-in-law who was wasted out of her mind on Access Hollywood recently. Those two in-laws are on Bobby Brown’s side, predictably. Like the wasted sister-in-law we just heard from, Pat Houston seems to think there’s some kind of conspiracy surrounding Whitney’s death. She told Oprah she “didn’t know how” Whitney got in the tub where she was found dead. Pat didn’t say outright that Whitney was murdered, though, she just hinted that there was something fishy about it.

I’m glad to know that Bobbi is ok, and that she seems sober. She’s going to launch some kind of singing career, which she was reportedly aiming for prior to her mother’s death. She told Oprah “I have to carry on the legacy. We’re going to do the singing thing. Some acting, some dancing.” I just hope she has good people around her.

There’s also news that Bobbi Kristina wants to change her last name from “Brown” to “Houston,” probably more in memory of her mom than necessarily to cut ties with her dad. At least I hope that’s the case.

I was waiting for this story; I heard it on the radio on the way to the train station this morning. She really seemed like she was doing all right, given the circumstances. She seems bright and together, and I hope all the rumors about her aren’t true.

  2. mln76 says:

Shame on Oprah for talking to her just for a ratings grab. Having lost a parent I’d say the grace period SHOULD have been at least 6 months, probably a year, maybe longer. I’m disgusted.

    • marlee says:

I agree, but I can’t say I’m surprised. OWN is tanking. Who cares if it’s too soon? Ratings are ratings. Stay classy, Oprah.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

I agree with you and find this disturbing, like Oprah is taking advantage of Bobbi at a very vulnerable time. Oprah seems to have a way of making any situation about her, reminding me abit of Tom Cruise with this behaviour.

    • brasileira says:

I didn’t see a gun pointed to her head, did you?

      • Meanchick says:

I agree. No one MADE BK do this interview. People grieve in different ways. Maybe they wanted to do this interview to clear up a lot of nonsense floating around? Why bash Oprah? She’s not a “famewhore” like someone called her, Oprah IS famous, so she doesn’t have to do whore-ish things to BECOME famous. How many others tried to get his interview I wonder? Whitney and Oprah were close friends, so this interview does not surprise or offend me, nor should it you, unless you just want to hate on Oprah, which is not what this thread is all about.

    • Deloise says:

Oprah is such a fame-whore, really terrible to do the interview so soon after her mothers untimely death. All she cares about is ratings. Whitney’s mother should also have stepped in and advised against it.

  3. Agnes says:

i feel awful for bobbi kristina. and it feels rather exploitative and sleazy of oprah to interview her so soon after her mom’s death. i mean, give it some time, let her heal.

  4. Jazzmin says:

Bobbi C is one ugly girl! Don’t know why with all that money she does not fix that hideous gap in her teeth. She looks just like Bobby Brown with a wig. Bobby’s looks translate best on a man, not on a woman. She is lucky she has all that money, because that face is so unfortunate. And yes I said what some of you might be thinking but will never say.

    • What a grotesque individual you are. Are you so base to comment on looks? My what depth of character you must have.

      • Jazzmin says:

Grotesque me? why? because I stated the truth? she is ugly! maybe she has a great heart and all that blah blah, but the fact remains she is unfortunate looking. She did not inherit her mother’s pretty looks. Bobby Brown’s looks took over in this case, and that is unfortunate for a young woman.

    • Jazzmin says:

Pointing out the obvious does not make me a hater. I don’t hate Bobbi C, she is ugly! You are the one lying by saying she is beautiful. Like I said before, she is lucky her mother left her all that money. Maybe she’ll fix that gap and get a nose job. I also think KimK is a whore that is a fact! that does not make me a hater *rme*

    • SamiHami says:

Wow! What a hateful thing to say! She’s not a great beauty, but she is certainly cute. Please don’t presume to speak for everyone else by posting what you assume we are thinking. You speak for yourself only.

Why don’t you post a photo of yourself so that we can all judge your level of beauty?

      • Jazzmin says:

“She’s not a great beauty, but she is certainly cute.” ….so you admit she is not a beautiful girl, you go to the next best thing and call her “cute” LMAO!!! “cute” is what some use when referring to ugly kids. There is nothing “Cute” about Bobbi C..sorry, but is true.

    • Jaded says:

@Jazzmin: You’re an utterly shallow tw*t. Shame on you.

      • Jazzmin says:

Not shallow just pointing out a fact that is very obvious! she is not pretty or cute or beautiful or attractive in any way shape or form. I am just stating what I see, that does not make me shallow. There is no shame in pointing something that can be seen; she is one unfortunate looking girl is the truth! Have a great day. 🙂

    • truetalk says:

I don’t think you’re familiar with true ugliness. Meanwhile, that gap is greatly sought after in some cultures; no they are not cave people.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

      • Jazzmin says:

Yes, because people are tripping over each other running to their dentist to have that exact same huge gap between their teeth, is all the rage in Hollywood. *rme*

      • Lady D says:

I’m sure she is more than familiar with true ugliness.

    • Onyx XV says:

Jazzmin, I agree with you. I’ll admit it. You did say all the things I was thinking about Bobbi Kristina’s unfortunate looks. (Although I probably wouldn’t have said it…lol).

      • Jazzmin says:

At least you are honest, I was not trying to be mean! I know it comes out as such and I don’t care. I am sure others have thought about how unfortunate looking she is. Society is obsessed with looks. Just look at how nuts people go over Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt and their biological kids. Even though Angelina looks like a skeleton her face and features drive some to hold her like this gorgeous goddess of beauty and sex. Sad but true.

      • WVtrish says:

      • Dana says:

I’ll say it too. From the time Whitney first showed Bobbi Kris off as a baby, I was flabbergasted that with such a beautiful mother, the girl unfortunately inherited Bobby Brown’s homeliness. What a shame.

    • truetalk says:

not everybody allows hollyweird to decide the standard of beauty for them.

      • Jazzmin says:

Agree, not everyone holds Hollywood to their standard of beauty. But…..unfortunately; Hollywood has a lot of influence when it comes to what beauty is. It is up to the individual to make that choice. Whether we agree, like it or not Hollywood influences a lot of people. If this were not true, plastic surgery would be on the decline and not on the rise.

    • Seymour Butts says:

No, it just makes you a friggin’ nutbar. Who cares about the gap in her teeth? It’s affecting your lifestyle how??

    • Naye in VA says:

i think the problem here is that you went what is referred to as “ham”. you stated she was an ugly girl and then you elaborated in hideous detail about it. Its not what you said, but how you said it, and whether it really needed to be said.

Also, since you don’t know why with “all that money” she hasnt “fixed” her looks, it’s probably because she isn’t as shallow as a puddle, and doesn’t see anything that needs to be “fixed”

      • Jazzmin says:

If I would’ve just said “she is ugly” and not elaborate on her looks, others here would still have a problem with my opinions, because I called her ugly. You are probably, right maybe she is not shallow and was fed a good dose of self-esteem growing up.

    • SS says:

Lol, what money? She had a few thousand in a bank account and was millions of dollars in debt.
It’s a good thing Bobbi agreed to the interview….i’m sure she got some cash for that.
I do agree that she is quit unfortunate in the looks department.

      • SS says:

        *quite

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@SS, from what I’ve heard, Oprah is one of the few who doesn’t offer appearance fees. Those being interviewed are just supposed to be greatful that such a visionary is willing to take time out of her busy schedule to sit down and talk to them.

    • Jill says:

Bobbi is not ugly. Your comment was.

      • You are all idiots says:

I find it funny how everyone jumps all over a person who was only stating the obvious. That gap in Bobbis teeth is hideous. She has plenty of money – more than most people do. If regular middle class families could afford braces for their kids than bobbi certainly can. Also, bobbi can not inheret the debt of her mother – that is unlawful. A persons debt is their own – when they pass away it leaves with them. Anyone who believes that bobbi is beautiful or a good actress is worthless and idiotic. She is inly famous because of her parents. If my mom was kate hudson and my dad vincent vangogh id be famous too. You all suck – except jazzmin. Btw all of tyler perrys tv shows and movies suck so bad. The acting is terrrrrible. You are stupi if you think otherwise. You probably voted for obama. A president who has do e nothig but golf, vacation, and hang out w celebrities. Learn2think.

    • Jaye says:

No…it may not make you a hater, but spouting such ugly comments about this girl on THIS type of article is just gross. And THAT’S what you are…a mean, gross human being.

    • Amy says:

I agree that Bobbi isn’t the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen, especially in comparison to her mother.

But I take offense to the hideous gap comment. I’ve got a gap. I didn’t always like it, but over time I’ve come to appreciate it as a part of my individuality. It certainly doesn’t make me any more attractive, but I embrace it. Like Lauren Hutton, Madonna, Anna Paquin, and David Letterman, etc, I hope that Bobbi Kirstina continues to rock that gap.

  5. Hautie says:

I watched the interview last night. And Krissy came off pretty grounded. As did Whitney’s brother (Gary) and sister in law, Pat.

Pat did explain what happen that night in the club (thursday before Whitney died)… and it was pretty interesting.

And Pat also made it clear, that she was no fan of Ray J.

Pat did it in a decent way. She didn’t out right called him a douchebag. But I got the impression, it is exactly what she thought of him. 🙂

Pat and Gary did have nice things to say about Bobby Brown. And made it clear Whitney’s drug use started before him.

But sadly, Bobby and Whitney brought out the worst in each other when it came to drug use.

    • Hautie says:

I wanted to add… that Bobbi Kristina – Krissy…. wanted to talk. It is clear that she was wanting to chat about her Mother. And did.

And Oprah let her talk. She did not get remotely invasive with her. At all.

And had Oprah wanted to talk to Krissy for 2 hours. I bet money Krissy would have done it. Without thinking twice about it.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Ray-J is an insufferable a**hole! He’s become “famous” by exploiting his “relationships” with women (Kim K, Whitney, his dating show and a book where he discusses his sexual exploits and advises women how to keep their man). He’s done a few interviews about Whitney and he clearly wants us all to believe she was head over heels for him. He is the worst of the worst!

    • skuddles says:

Another thing about this Ray J character – he told people that as soon as he heard about Whitney passing he raced to the hotel where he said he spent the whole night comforting Bobbi Kristina. So does this mean he’s also the POS who offered BK a sedative(s) after she’d been drinking alcohol… which in turn, landed her in the hospital?? He seems like enough of a douchebag to do something like that to a devastated 18 year old girl.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@skuddles, I think that’s definitely possible. Also brings to mind the blind about the “boyfriend” of a recently deseased singer who was also her dealer. Hmmmmm.

      • skuddles says:

Yep Mort … I’ve flat out read that somewhere – that he was supplying Whitney with drugs, but can’t recall where now. But I don’t think it was a big secret, and seems to be what the family is getting at here too.

  6. Sue L. says:

Oprah can ask all she wants… the family could have politely declined to do the interviews. I can’t blame Oprah for trying, even though I can’t stand her.

    • mln76 says:

Have you ever lost a family member? When someone close to you dies you are literally in a fog for several months. This is why in general therapists recommend that you don’t make any major decisions or life changes. Oprah with all of her self-help speak should know this and should have said look I’d like to talk to you but let’s wait 6 months OK. That would have been the classy thing to do but we all know OWN needs some help right now.

      • Sue L. says:

You’re preaching to the choir. I completely agree that Oprah should have left her alone… but it’s Oprah. She needs the ratings. I doubt that she really cares about how the family is feeling as long as she gets the first interview. I also doubt she was the only person to approach the family. It’s sad that these vultures can’t leave the grieving family alone. I have lost family members and there is no way I would have talked to any reporter.

  7. Gimmeabreak says:

Heart breaking:(. Losing your mother at any age is hard but 19….that’s tough. I hope she stays close to her family that can help guide her and protect her.

  8. Ravensdaughter says:

Oprah is such an emotion-whore. Isn’t it a bit soon to be tapping BK about her feelings about her mom? It’s been less than a month.
@ Sue-you have a point, but I don’t think “the family” has ever protected this Bobbi Kristina-hey, I thought she was 17, still a minor…

    • Talk can be cathartive. There have also been so many rumors that she probably wanted to assist in setting the record straight about her mom. People find healing in different ways, and this might have been Bobbi Kristina’s.

      • mln76 says:

talk can be cathartic sure but when you lost someone 2 or 3 weeks ago there is no way catharsis can happen. It’s like walking around with an open gashing wound there is nothing to do but let it heal.

      • truetalk says:

talking does help. her mother was a public figure and maybe she just wanted the public to get a good feeling about her Mum’s last days. You know, an anxiety to sort of set records straight.

      • catharsis doesn’t have a timetable. The Kubler-Ross Model of grief can take anywhere from a few days to a lifetime. I doubt I could be anywhere near comprehensible less than a month out of the death of a loved one (never had a mom that I can remember, so I can’t relate to the loss of a mother). But some people are. Some people talk to heal, and some people internalize it. I’ve seen both ends of the spectrum in my practice.

    • Sue L. says:

I thought she was a minor as well at first.

  9. couldn'thelpit says:

I lost my mom when I was 20 due to cancer. I honestly can’t imagine giving a public interview about her 1 month later. So I’m quite surprised how emotional collected she is… It might be cathartic for her to discuss it, to each his own.

    • sarah says:

I’m thinking maybe they coached her in some way to get her prepared for it, as harsh as that sounds. Or maybe this was just one of her “better” days. Idk.

  10. Minnie says:

Let’s be honest for one second. She is fucked up like her parents. There is no medication for that.

    • bella says:

I’m with you, Minnie. This poor child has no chance. She talks in the scripted, “spiritual” riddles her mother did. Anyone see the old Whitney interview prior to the family interview? Whitney was NEVER able to answer a question directly. She’d always revert to praising the Lord, her faith, blah blah. Her daughter did the same thing last night…She spoke of being “humbled” – a word used out of context repeatedly, which she obviously learned from her mother…Out of context rhetoric. With this said, I think that it’s a shame and waste that Whitney’s life has been lost. I feel for her daughter, too…But talking rhetoric won’t erase the fact that Whitney was an addict who never accepted responsibility for her actions. A true gifted star lost to addiction.

      • sarah says:

Whitney’s dead. There is nothing she can “take responsibilty” for anymore.Let her rest in peace, former drug adduct or not.

  11. Hautie says:

Bossip has the interview loaded if anyone cares to watch it… before they comment.

  12. Stella says:

Found a better video of Bobbi Kristina interview here:
    http://thatgrapejuice.net/2012/03/watch-houstons-sitdown-oprah-full/#more-69412

  13. poppycarew says:

The Houston/Brown family are in total denial about Whitney’s disease. They’re all happy she was “clean” from drugs, but she was drinking alcohol excessively prior to her death (according to witnesses). So, it’s OK to drink and kill yourself, as long as she was off drugs. Too bad Whitney’s prior stint(s) in rehab didn’t work. RIP Whitney.

  14. dena says:

What about Whitney’s adopted son? He’s never to be mentioned again?

And how come he didn’t inherit anything?

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

He was never formally adopted, but it would have been nice of her to leave him something (if she had anything left).

    • skuddles says:

Speaking of the adopted son, there’s a story circulating that him and BK are involved romantically, and how Whitney may have known about it before her death. Apparently some of their tweets seem to point to this too. Don’t know what to say about that except I hope it’s not true…

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Strange. Although they aren’t related biologically, so ok? 😒

      • skuddles says:

Ummmmm, yeah… I think? I dunno Mort…. it freaks me out to be honest, but then again, I guess it depends on how they were raised – what age they were brought together and what sort of relationship they had over the years. I suppose it mostly just falls into the “weird” category but certainly not the worst thing that could ever happen. Although strikes me as a bit of a slippery spot for a vulnerable BK, and maybe explains why Cissy is so keen to get him out of the picture?

  15. frothy says:

i found oprah giving whitney all the answers, an interview tactic i despise. whitney seemed like a 65 year old woman that looked 48. the lord talk was mind numbing. didn’t catch the kristina part. bobby wasn’t the reason for EVERYThing. she drank, smoked and liked cooch before him. her not being able to be openly gay is what drove her to bobby as payback to her family. and the smoking wasn’t weed, it was crack – as whack as she claimed it to be, she was an addict. with an amazing voice.

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I don’t believe she was a closeted lesbian. I don’t recall one woman coming forward while she was alive and claiming they were intimate. I do, however, believe she had a relationship with Jermaine Jackson while he was still married.

      • Cerulean says:

That was the hot rumor and reportedly there were women who claimed it. It was said she had a steady girlfriend. But back in the 80s it would have killed her career. This is what I was told by someone else who is up on African american celeb gossip.

      • Whatever says:

Those rumors are not true Cerulean.

I do however, recall Jermain Jackson’s wife naming Whitney as the woman Jermain was having an affair with.

      • mln76 says:

The ‘Whitney is a lesbian’ rumor was always around I heard it growing up. The rumor was that she had an affair with her assistant Robyn who she dedicated several albums to and who dressed up in the same tuxedo as Bobby Brown at their wedding.
Whitney was asked about it several times even way back when (she denied it of course). There was also a rumor that she had an affair with Kelly Mcguiness that was out there before Mcguiness ever came out. My feeling is she was probably bisexual.
EDIT: Robyn wrote a very loving tribute to Whitney in Esquire but did not address the rumors.

        http://gawker.com/5886563/meet-whitney-houstons-rumored-lesbian-lover-robyn-crawford

      • Whatever says:

Kelly says she’s never even met Whitney before. So That’s a lie. The rumor is a lie. I’ve seen their wedding pics, and her best friend was Robyn. She thanked her on several cds, but never dedicated cd’s to her. They had a very sweet friendship, and people alway sensationalized it.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@min76, I shop at the same grocery store as Kelly Mcgillis and her wife. If I ever caught Kelly alone, I would certainly be tempted to ask her about Whitney. Highly inappropriate, but VERY tempting!

      • mln76 says:

@whatever of course these are just rumors which may or may not be true. But this is a gossip website so I thought to share my info. I personally find the rumors plausible. I used to live not far from her in NJ and before Bobby Brown I’d heard that she liked to do drugs and that she was a lesbian at the time I didn’t believe either but since one half of those rumors turned out to be accurate the other seems likely to me. Still I’m willing to admit I could be wrong. Oh and I think it would have been completely inappropriate to ask Bobbi K those kinds of questions.

@morticians I WOULD NOT mention Whitney to her LOL!!!They were rumored to have had a vicious fight on set the set of the Accused because Kelly and Jodi were having an affair.

      • Whatever says:

MorticiansDoItDeader: Someone already asked Kelly. She’s never even Met Whitney before.Don’t bother the poor woman and her wife. Lol.Rumors are made up.

Mln..pretty sure those rumors came about because her best friend in the world was gay. And they were close, even After she married Bobby. But they both say, they were only friends. But you know how the tabloids do. Sensationalized it the death.

      • skuddles says:

Hey Mort, just a reply to your comment above about Kelly McGillis, I think you should just come right out and ask her! I met her once – she and two fellow actresses were staying at the hotel I worked at (food and beverage manager). They were filming a movie in my city… Anyway, she was so down to earth and easy going, unbelievably so! Our bartender was pretty intimidated by the ladies (they could be a bit ribald and raucous at times but all in a good way) so I ended up serving them most of their drinks. I actually experimented on them endlessly with various martinis throughout that week, and wow, could they hold their booze! On their final night there I comped their dinner in our formal dining room and they invited me to join them. I was a bit taken aback at how Kelly had changed over the years (this was back in…. late 90’s?). She wore very mannish clothes (plaid workshirt stands out in my mind) with a mannish hairstyle and zero makeup – she looked nothing like she did in the Jody Foster movie. And she did not give off a celeb vibe at all – I think she just wanted to be another face in the crowd. But a funny, lovely human being and meeting her remains one of my favorite celebrity encounters of all time. So g’on ask her.. and tell me what she says! 😀

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@min76, @Whatever, I wouldn’t dream of asking her! I’m definitely not THAT crass. I can’t imagine what I’d do if a stranger approached me in the grocery store and asked me about my sexual exploits! LOL. I will, however, think about it every time I see her from now on!

@skuddles, great story. She definitely seems very approachable! Whenever I see her I give her a nod and a quick “hello,” just to acknowledge that I know who she is. I really don’t want to bother her as she goes about her daily business. I think she moved to suburban NJ to get away from it all and be her authentic self. BTW, who were the other two actresses?

      • skuddles says:

Ha ha Mort, I knew you’d ask and I’d have to google it (wracked my brain, drew a blank on the movie when I wrote that post). Movie they were filming was called Painted Angels:
        http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0130928/

I distinctly remember Bronagh Gallagher, she was a total hoot, plus I recognized her from The Commitments, but I did not recognize the third actress at the time. Looking at IMDB I still can’t say for sure who she was but maybe Brenda Fricker? Which actually impresses the hell out of me now 🙂

I totally know what you mean about never being able to invade a celeb’s privacy. I could never do that either, but believe me, there have been times I’ve wanted to. I was in awe of Kelly at first… I loved Witness and the very gut wrenching Accused, so to have her sitting in front of me night after night like that, was a bit mind boggling. But I just kept my cool and remained professional – mixed their drinks, laughed at their jokes, made a few of my own, and just completely respected their private down time. But oh, how I wanted to tell Kelly how much I admired her acting and her movies!

ps got into a fight with Robocop dude Peter Weller at that same hotel… but thankfully his co-star Robert Patrick made up for it by being a total sweetheart 🙂

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@skuddles, awesome. Just spent some time checking out their IMDB pages and both ladies have appeared in some pretty great movies! I’m sure they were able to let loose because you treated them like everyone else.

And I don’t blame you a bit for getting into it with Peter Weller. I hope you told him how much Robocop sucked 😜

      • skuddles says:

LOL Mort! Actually I kinda liked Robocob in the day so was disappointed to find out what a total CREEP he was in real life! He has the coldest eyes I’ve ever seen – honestly if looks could kill I’d have been a goner. Won’t go into the story but suffice to say, he was shocked I didn’t happily kowtow to the “big” celebrity. A funny little aside… he was such an arrogant “I’m SO famous” jerk that he had his people send out a memo in advance – do not address Mr Weller as Mr Weller. Do not speak to Mr Weller unless necessary. But if you MUST address him, address him as Mose Hambrick (that name is burned into my brain). Anyway, one by one I altered those memos as I came across them – in the service elevator, staff areas, kitchen, etc. I changed his alias to Moby Dick 😀 As for Robert Patrick, he was the peacemaker – he told Peter Weller to lay off and then he sort of ran interference between us the rest of the week. So I loved the evil cop from Terminator and loathed the good guy from Robocop…. go figure 🙂

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Hehehe. Great Story! And what an a**hole. The irony of it all is that he’s probably dying to be recognized now, yet no one has any idea who he is! Now that’s karma. Choke on that Moby Dick!😜

  16. Onyx XV says:

This poor girl really doesn’t stand much of a chance with that family. They thought Whitney was “clean” in her final days? Wonder what their idea of clean is. Clean and sober does not involve alcohol in any amount, nor does it involve sedatives, both of which were found in Whitney’s hotel room. She was not “clean” at all, and that was obvious from the photos and video clips of her acting erratically in the days immediately prior to her passing. RIP to Whitney and good luck to Bobbi Kristina – she’s going to need it with that heritage.

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I know plenty of addicts in denial because their drug of choice is legal (i.e. adderall, oxys, etc). Her family obviously subscribes to a similar way of thinking. Classic enabling. No wonder she was never able to get truly clean.

  17. velourazure says:

that was a really bizarre interview with bobbi. why did they have to stand in the kitchen like that? why didn’t they sit down?

and the level of denial in that family about what whitney’s life was really like was fascinating.

    • dena says:

Funny you noticed that, velourazure. I remember an old interview Whitney did with Arsenio via satellite and she spent most, if not all of it, standing up in her kitchen.

Maybe the kitchen is a comforting room for BK.

  18. kells-bells says:

I lost my mom almost 6 months ago and it’s a horrific thing to deal with. So at first I wasn’t happy that Oprah was going to interview BC so soon after her mother’s death. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought: Hey, at least Whitney’s daughter and family can gain control about what’s being said in the press about their loved one – And that’s so important!
Bobbi Christina was collected and articulate and handled the interview very well. Oprah is a family friend and has known BC her whole life, I think it was good choice when all was said and done. A tough choice, but a good one none the less.

    • Jayna says:

I lost my mom, too. And I felt the need to talk about her a lot those first few months especially. Somehow I needed to shout to the world how amazing my mom was. Maybe this was good for Chrissy, honoring her mom expressing her love. There is a lot of numbness in the beginning stages anyway. I found it more painful five months in when the shock wore off and the true emptiness I felt and couldn’t hide from.

      • Becca says:

I had the same reaction to my mother’s death. She had a very difficult death and I could talk to anyone about it in the first couple of months after she died. I was very calm.

But after the shock started to wear off, I couldn’t even think about it without bawling and the last thing I wanted to do was talk about it.

Watching BK last night (and her brother and sister in law), I just thought, “Well, they’re all still in shock.” They may not be, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were.

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@kells, so sorry for your loss. Be well.

  19. Skinnybetch says:

I think it’s good she’s talking about it. At least she’s greiving properly. I lost my mom when I was 14. I feel and hear my mom all the time so I know she’s not lying about that. My heart breaks for this poor girl.

  20. Lynnie says:

I lost my Mom when I was 19, so I completely understand where Bobbi K is coming from…..

HOWEVER, I personally got the feeling she was just telling Oprah what she thought Oprah, and the rest of the world, what she wanted to hear. She’s 19…I said the same shit to people when I was asked how I was doing. Maybe she is doing well, but I highly doubt it. Sorry, but I think she’s going to have a very rough road ahead of her.

And 2 things really stood out to me: How many times did Bobby K touch her hair??? 400? I mean, jeepers, it was distracting! And was it at all possible for Pat to NOT repeat everything Oprah asked her. She barely answered a question w/a ‘yes or no’, she would just repeat the question back. It was bizarre as hell. I think she was being extremely careful in what she said….

    Sad all around.

    • Whatever says:

Watched it. Thought she was still numb to her mom’s death. The hair touching is probably a nervous tick, but in a few months or years, it’ll hit her. I can’t imagine what she’s going to go through.

      • mln76 says:

Yes exactly she’s numb and in a state of shock not really capable of articulating any feelings. I think a therapist would be the person she should be talking to not Oprah in front of millions of people Just My opinion.

  21. Cerulean says:

I am sorry for those who have lot their mothers. I love my mum with all my heart and I could not imagine life without her.
    You have my deepest sympathies.

    • Jill says:

Life goes on. I lost my mom to advanced Alzheimer’s. Actually I lost her several months prior to her actual death because her disease was so bad she didn’t recognize anybody any more. But she had a good life before the disease took hold of her and I know she is in a better place now.

    • skuddles says:

You have my most heartfelt sympathies too. The stories here brought tears to my eyes. I live in dread and fear of the day I will lose my beloved Mom…. I know I will never get over it.

    • i can’t imagine feeling such loss. I was very young when I lost my parents and don’t remember them at all.

  22. jenfem says:

Her speech is jumpy and repetitive, she sounds like she might be on drugs, and a great deal of the things she says are fairly out to lunch.

  23. Amanda G says:

It’s funny that some people are coming down on Oprah for interviewing the family “so soon” yet they still watched the video. Can’t blame Oprah for putting the offer out there. They could have declined as Cissy did.

I feel bad for BK for having such rotten parents. I hope she won’t follow the path of addiction. I wish her the best of luck. Unfortunately she does not have an exceptional voice (or looks) like her mother so I wonder how successful her singing career will be.

  24. Jackie says:

this whole family seems highly dysfunctional to me. this kid seems really ungrounded to me. gonna be a hard future for her.

they never should have let her do this interview. shame on oprah.

  25. sam says:

Is it me or does Oprah always seems to talk over the people she is interviewing? Something about her interview style just gets on my nerves lately.

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

      YESSSSS!!

It would’ve bugged me more if OW were a stranger to those involved and if the girl weren’t so young, I would have a bigger problem with the way it was handled. Stil, I kept thinking, ‘quit interrupting and ‘mmm’-ing, if you’re only interested in having an interview with yourself why disturb the poor girl?’ A slice of me wanted BK to bellow ‘Hey, I’ve got something to say!’ Jerri Blank-style.

Was her inverviewing style always like this? Poor kid. Poor anyone who has to lose a mother so young.

  26. Hypocricy says:

I don’t think trying to carry the legacy through singing is a good thing.

So many sons/daughters of bigger stars have lost their battle through depression and drugs because of the massive pressure they have to endure being compared to their star of a father/mother.

The comparision to her mum is already underway physically wise and not at her advanatge, she shouldn’t try to sing because heer voice has nothinbg on her mum. She is her father’s daughter and should opt instead for a different form of art to limit comparisons to her mums that would ultimately hurt her.

If i was her,i would chose something to study at college, right now, just to take a break of the Hollywood machine, to grieve in pieace without the camera on her, to have people her age from other type of environments around her and have a taste of ‘other’ opportunities out there that may be saner. It can only be beneficial to her…

    • original sandy says:

yes,yes i agree, go to school bk, for awhile at least, i am also thinking that Oprah should have waited, they are all in shock, at the time of filming this, it had only been what? 2-3 weeks? shame on oprah for exploiting them in their grief, too, too soon, i have lost all respect for Oprah, she is desperate, and it shows.

  27. original sandy says:

i also wanted to add, at first i didn’t think b.k. was attractive, in stills, photos, but i thought she was really pretty in the interview, not that looks are that important, if it were your kid, you would not even see her looks, it’s subjective.

  28. JoanCrawfordHangers says:

I was terribly disappointed by the interview and felt it raised more questions than answers.

I also felt the product placement (C/U of candle on white baby grand) was incredibly tacky… along w/ the revelation that on the same day as Clive Davis’s party– a day charged with tension for all performers participating, not just Whitney–they were going to film an infomercial for Marion P. Candles, Pat’s company. Whitney Houston, the superstar, was going to be pushing scented candles on cable TV? All very weird and not explored by Oprah at all. Btw: The candle site is INCREDIBLY TACKY AS WELL with an incredibly silly ABOUT section complete w/grammar issues throughout. http://www.marionpcandles.com/

I was also interested in Pat Houston’s reaction to the National Enquirer photograph. She’s not mad at the photographer, just the publication? She doesn’t feel violated that a member of their close circle sold a picture of their beloved Whitney in her coffin and made hundreds of thousands of dollars? Something’s not right there.

Finally, Pat Houston at least made the reference to Whitney’s troubles having something to do with her sometime boyfriend Ray J. She didn’t use his name. But what is she talking about? Is she saying Whitney died of a broken heart?

  29. apsutter says:

Bobbi K was so sweet in this interview. I was surprised by the way she spoke because she seems very mature and older than her years. But Oprah is just the worst interviewer!! She’d ask a question and wouldn’t even give her seconds to finish it but either asking another question or trying to infer to Bobbi what she was feeling. Dear God woman, let the girl speak!

  30. Newmrs says:

I can’t stand oprah. Can you give the family time to grieve before you use the death for ratings. I hope your network.continues to tank…

  31. ezra says:

Oprah is all about exploitation and her massive ego.
    Awful.

  32. Meanchick says:

Wow. I like to throw insults from time to time, who doesn’t, but this girl’s mother just died and it was a very public tragedy with people making nasty comments about WH, BB and some even made nasty racist comments, but talking about her looks? Really? The one thing people shouldn’t do is want us all to run to the cosmetic surgeon to change our looks because “they have the money” or because they don’t measure up to the standards set by WHO? Exactly.

  33. pat says:

i dont like what bobbi is being put through what nasty comments from a lot of people .she is a beautiful young lady who just lost her mom and best friend.whitney was always loved and always be loved and missed by her true fans my heart goes out to the family for there loss . god bless them all

  34. La says:

Bobbi your very pretty ! Keep ur head up we all loved ur mom and always will!
