Hilary Duff had her teeth shortened

Everyone’s been making fun of Hilary Duff’s too-long veneers since she got them installed last year, and Gallery of the Absurd even did a an hilarious illustration of her as a horse. (Thanks Farkers for correctly my crap grammar.) Now Life and Style cites a cosmetic dentist who claims that she had her teeth shortened recently:

“The length of each veneer was a little too long, and the width of the smile was too wide,” Dr. Michael Apa, dentist to the stars and Elite Model Management consultant, says of Hil’s smile, which cost the star at least $15,000.

The work was meant to improve her smile, but “it made her look goofy, like she was bucktoothed,” Apa says.

That was until Nov. 5, when the star flashed a more familiar smile, which made her look as if she’d had a visit from the tooth fairy!

“She probably had her teeth recontoured or reshaped to fit her smile,” says Apa of Hil’s smaller, narrower smile. “Now you look at her cute smile rather than focusing on her large teeth. She looks much prettier!”

Good for Hilary. She looks a lot younger with the smaller teeth and darker hair, but that could also be due to the cute cap she’s wearing.

Thanks to Faded Youth for the story.

It looks to me that the picture is at a slightly different angle and that the smile in the after is not nearly as big or real a smile as the one in the before picture. I think that only more pictures will tell.

  2. Jane says:

She’s the goldie locks of teeth by the third time she’ll get it just right.

  3. Margaux says:

she looks creepy as hell in the first picture..

  4. AC says:

I attribute her looking better in the second pic to her gaining weight. She was a little nicole ricci in that first pic. yeesh. She is still very thin but doesn’t look as scary in the second pic.

  5. millie says:

No, the teeth on the second pic are smaller and narrower, MUCH better.

  6. spark says:

i agree with ac, she was much thinner then giving her jaw a more prominent appearance. oh and btw, did you hear she and joel madden broke up??

  7. Fleegle says:

I think she looks better, but enough with the globbed-on black eyemakeup already. It looks cried/slept in.

  8. Smartie says:

She’s tucked the big ears behind the hair too – that makes a difference.

  9. elisha says:

She a little bit reminds me of Kylie Minogue in those pics.

I prefer her smile in the first pic. Her smile is brilliant and v eye catching. She’s just a bit thin in that first photo hence it accentuating her teeth. I think she looks common as muck in that second photo, dark hair doesnt suit her at all, and its a revolting shade of brunette.

I agree Elisha! She looks very Kylie!!! Im glad she has put on a bit of weight too. She is beautiful! Gawd I cant stand people always putting others down! Get a life.

Your grammar was actually correct in the first place. It’s only “an” with a word starting with h if the h is silent like honor or hour. If you hear the h like like “there’s a height difference” you use a.

Just thought you should know you were right [and apparently having English as a second major during undergrad was useful for a few things] ^_^

So glad someone else said something… Thanks fionnmhaith, I was about to write the same thing. 😉

    teeth,teeth,teeth!!!

I didn’t think the veneers looked bad- she was just too thin. I do think that with the big teeth and being too skinny she looked like kylie- but I think gaining weight was all that was really needed. The smaller teeth do make her look younger and more “cute” but I don’t think she really looks better- just different.

Oh, and with the a or an either can be correct depending on how you say hilarious. Was the person who corrected you from England or Australia? If you say the H you use a if you don’t say the H you would use an.

I think she is very beautiful. Since, she has a new teeth and a little longer jaw. It makes her looks like a women! The second pic, she looked like a kid and cute
