Is Mel Gibson getting a $900 Million divorce?

Last week we told you about a mystery brunette seen hanging around the set of Mel Gibson’s new movie. Sources say the woman is Gibson’s mistress and that his marriage to wife Robyn is just about over. Mel and Robyn are one of Hollywood’s longest lasting couples, but insiders say she’s had enough of Mel and his destructive behavior-and the mistress is the last straw. However, don’t expect Robyn to go quietly. According to the latest issue of The National Enquirer, she’s looking to take a significant chunk of Mel’s nearly billion-dollar fortune with her when she goes.

Mel Gibson is facing Hollywood’s most costly divorce battle ever – a vicious battle over his whopping $900 million fortune!

Shocking new photographs of the rough-and-tumble Oscar winner with a sexy young Russian singer could be the final straw for the actor’s long-suffering wife Robyn, sources told The Enquirer.

The exotic beauty – a leggy 28-year-old brunette named Oksana – was first spotted with Gibson, 52, in September. She popped up again on the set of his latest movie a few weeks later – and for Robyn it will be the final nail in the couple’s turbulent 28-year marriage, insiders say.

“Robyn has had enough,” a close family friend told The Enquirer. “She’s been to hell and back with Mel over the years. The drinking, the cheating, the temper tantrums. The last time Robyn took him back she told him, ‘This is your last chance. If you embarrass me again, we’re done.’ And now she intends to keep her word.”

When asked about an impending divorce, Gibson’s spokesman told The Enquirer: “I have no reason to believe that there are problems in Mel’s marriage.”

[From The National Enquirer print version, Dec. 1, 2008]

Wow, what an affirmative denial by Mel’s PR guy. Doesn’t it just make you think everything’s fine? This could be a disaster for Gibson, who likes to tout himself as a devout Traditionalist Catholic – a religion where divorce is grounds for being excommunicated. He famously said this about his wife: “My wife is a saint. She’s a much better person than I am. Honestly. She’s, like, Episcopalian, Church of England. She prays, she believes in God, she knows Jesus, she believes in that stuff. And it’s just not fair if she doesn’t make it [to heaven], she’s better than I am. But that is a pronouncement from the chair. I go with it.”

Well, it looks like he’ll be “going with it” right to divorce court. I would be very surprised if Mel and Robyn have a prenup. She’s been with him for 28 years- before he got rich and famous – and they have seven children together. If the reports of a mistress are true, I don’t blame her one bit for going for the jugular. Half of $900 million can buy you a very well-appointed new life as a divorcee.

I seriously think the divorce is a rumor. He may very well be having an affair, but Robin is just as Catholic as Mel, she will stay put and be the classic Catholic long suffering wife.

  2. Lore says:

The only church sanctioned reason for divorce (Matthew 19:9) is adultery.

  3. Melodie says:

Traditional Catholics also believe it’s a sin to have sex for any reason except to conceive a child. I tell you, it’s hell being Mel.

  4. what is ever. says:

all this exotic beauty talk… I’ve seen more exotic beauties in line for the toilet at my neighborhood Office Depot. It looks like she needs to set a date with a hairbrush.

  5. Baholicious says:

A lot of Eastern European women are often referred to as exotic because of their cat-like eyes. That’s just a genetic remnant from Genghis Khan and his Mongol hordes. So, we could say instead “Mel Gibson and his remnant-featured beauty Oksana” and we’d be entirely correct

  6. snapnhiss says:

Off topic, but I remember seeing Mel Gibson for the first time back in the 80s in Mad Max and I thought he was one of the most beautiful men ever born. I realize everyone ages, but dear god, he looks rough! 😯

  7. Mel is leaving his wife for Amy Fisher?

  8. miss_kitteh says:

That’s the best-looking mistress a billionaire can pull? It looks like she brushes her hair with a Brillo pad.

  9. Feebee says:

Well if it’s true it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. I don’t think this is his first mistress. I’ve heard Catholics are supposed to be the most fun of all ‘religions’ but he is taking the mickey big time. No-one likes a hypocrite.

  10. geronimo says:

    Worst mistress hair ever. 😯

How come it’s always the ultra shouty religious ones who turn out to be the worst hypocrites when it comes to walking the walk?

  11. Jewssip.com says:

Damn, Mel better get his war paint. Don’t think he’s seen a battle this bloody since Braveheart.

  12. Ron says:

he’s 52??!! He looks like my grandpa right before he died. Holy hell.

  13. Codzilla says:

The smokes and the booze get their revenge in the end. He looks like hell. 😯

  14. Perla says:

@Feebee: Where did you hear that little pearler? 😉

  15. Rosebudd says:

Mel owns so much of Malibu, he could start his own country. The Vatican is the smallest country in the world, and Mel could be hand-hand w/ the Pope. I wish him physical sobriety, but most of all EMOTIONAL sobriety. Mel, think, reflect on your life, make manly decisions and shut your mouth about everything. Think first….

  16. Legend says:

I thought his wife wasn’t Catholic. Regardless, I’ll believe this one when the papers are signed.

  17. kat says:

Mel’s Awesome…. love Em. Love his Movies.

  18. rottenkitty says:

    Ex-communication, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy…

  19. Feebee says:

@Pearler… from the BigBrother (US) forums! Ha ha, as a (semi-lapsed) Catholic myself, I’m going to run with it. 😆

  20. DD says:

i hope this isn’t true, but if it is she deserves a whole lot…

  21. RaraAvis says:

True or not, this sucks for their kids.

  22. frewt says:

I think she’s waaaay too attractive for the misogynistic old bigot.

  23. MizLiz says:

Of course Catholics can get divorced! And they do, quite often. Excommunicated? How silly. The thing is: Don’t expect to get remarried in the church. Not unless you have a lot of pull with the local cardinal and can get a speedy annulment. That can take years for the average person.

  24. Tj Wayne says:

I admit I once thought he was a talented guy but some of stuff he has said and done has to make you wonder. Do these so-called “stars” never realize that EVERYTHING they say or do is being reported. After the DUI, which is bad enough, he then open’s his mouth with an anti-Semitic tirade punctuated by obscenities, threats and sexually abusive language. Come on, did he think that would not get out? Or that is was WRONG to even say it? Or that he could just walk away because he is famous?

You can’t blame everything on booze. People under the influence don’t say or do anything that’s not in them sober. However, he does fit the catholic profile. Say what you want, do what you want, then go to church on Sunday, make a big donation and all is forgiven. Your place in heaven is secure once again.

My father once told me never make a business deal with anyone who sits in the first three rows at church because you will get f**ked every time. Seems Mel likes to sit up front with his wife and their 52 kids, then he tackles the important stuff…nailing some young fan(or Russian singer), drinking some good scotch on the rocks, chain smoking and making arrangements for the next meeting of the Aryan nation.

***** Does anyone else think it’s outrageous that an actor is worth 900 million?? He didn’t find a cure for cancer, he painted his face blue and put on a kilt. No wonder our society is so screwed up, look at what we value. A drunk, womanizing, racist become an icon, an a very, very, rich one at that.*****

  25. Shane says:

I thought Brittany Spears and he were hanging out?

  26. Dubdub2000 says:

    One word: FINALLY!

  27. vdantev says:

Damn, he used to be such a nice looking man. He could even turn my hetero-head.

  28. mojoman says:

TJ Wayne, I 2nd that bro!

  29. gracie says:

    “Worst mistress hair ever.

How come it’s always the ultra shouty religious ones who turn out to be the worst hypocrites when it comes to walking the walk?”

Hahahaha on the hair thing, Geronimo!

I couldn’t agree more on your comments about the loudest being the biggest “sinners”. We see it time and again with ultra super religious people who can’t seem to grasp the concept of doing what they preach.

I personally think that Mel has so many demons inside him. The drinking brings it out full force, but I bet it’s there all the time anyway. He comes across as publically “nice” …. but privately very mean.

I think after 28 years of living with him she’s certainly entitled to 450 mil.

  30. geronimo says:

@gracie – yeah, he’s come across as pretty troubled for quite a while now. Shame, I really liked him, very good actor & director, he had so much going for himself career-wise.

  31. 88modesty88 says:

Man, he used to be so hot as Mad Max… I wanna curl up in a Mel Gibson time capsule with that first Mad Max movie and pretend the most recent stuff never happened!

    🙄

  32. Kelly says:

Give the guy a break – He’s denied this and I, for one, want to believe him.

  33. debbie says:

Well isn’t it sinful to gossip?
Give the guy a break. And just because he is very religious doesn’t mean he isn’t human. We all have vices. I applaud him for being “out there” with his beliefs. And being Catholic myself, I know for a fact it is not say what you want and do what you want, then make a big donation and all is forgiven. Really. You need to read the
    Catechism.

  34. melancholybaby says:

I see photos of a famous man and a pretty woman. Of course, I also see a photo of the same young woman with another man (the guy wearing the ball cap). Is this Oksana having an affair with him too?

  35. anne says:

they have matching rings, they must be going steady

  36. Jody McMahon says:

Mel comes along and has a dream. He is talented. No one prepares you for the life thrust into the glare of Hollywood lights. He just wanted to create. If he could do that without the glare and keep his addiction under control perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad. Our mistakes aren’t published. Who can cast the first stone? //This is all conjecture. How about some compassion? Jody

  37. Scottishgirl says:

I’m sorry to hear of Mel’s marital woes, but not surprised. Robyn has been through 28 years of his drinking, womanizing and bad temper. Surely she loves him and is devoted to the marriage, but a woman can only take so much. They are both religious people, however, divorce is not forbidden in the Bible. It is allowed when there is ongoing adultery. Mel has been cheating on Robyn for most of their marriage. No one would blame her if she divorced him.

  38. Bernadette-Marie says:

Such a hypocrite Gibson – he does the Passion of Christ and then destroys his marriage to a beautiful, lovely girl who bore him all those children – some Catholic – better to have stayed a poor, poor man than get involved with the Hollywood scene – there is very little morality with those people. I don’t agree with divorce when children are involved but Gibson is a disgrace.

  39. Barbara says:

Wayne…Mel made his big bucks on Passion of the Christ. That film was responsible for many conversions to the Catholic Church. He (Mel) may just make it to Heaven because of that alone. Who can throw the first stone around here? 🙂

  40. nick jones says:

    yeah.
    she looks a disgrace.
but how does she get that,
“oh, i’m looking like im peeking around a corner and something is coming, but nothing is actually coming and there is no corner, it is just a look that i have perfected, see, over there, oh you missed it don’t worry”

  41. errol says:

“Let whoever have no sin throw the first stone”

  42. philip george says:

lots of anti-Catholic bigots still out there after reading these comments.

  43. Anna says:

Wow, if you listen to his most recent audio tape he sounds like a fine upstanding Christian man. Yes, Jesus would be proud of him.

If his wife chooses to she has scriptural grounds to divorce the piece of crap. Being Catholic or not doesn’t mean anything. He cheated and that means scriptural grounds to divorce.
