What are Christina Hendricks’ chances for winning an Emmy this year?

These are photos of Christina Hendricks from a few days ago – she was at the LA Outfest premiere of her new film, Struck By Lightning, then she attended the closing night ceremony of the film festival. I don’t know who designed her outfit, but I don’t hate it. You know I feel for Christina – she’s so pretty, and she’s got that crazy body. Speaking as a fellow big-busted girl, I can say that personally, I am loathe to wear boob ruffles. They make me feel even more top-heavy. I understand that Christina is a lot more girly and frilly, so maybe she just felt like wearing ruffles and she didn’t care. Anyway, the film – it’s the high school dramedy that was written by and stars Chris Colfer, who plays a boy who blackmails his classmates into contributing to the school’s literary magazine. Christina plays Colfer’s character’s step-mother (I think). It actually looks like a somewhat cute movie.

Anyway, getting back to Christina. She’s up for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and personally, I think she’s the frontrunner. After the Emmy noms came out last week, Christina issued a statement: “I’m so honored to be nominated in this category of truly awe inspiring actresses . And thrilled Mad Men is recognized for the fifth time.” Christina is up against The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi and Christine Baranski, Downton Abbey’s Joanna Froggatt and Maggie Smith, and Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn. Now, I love Maggie Smith, Archie and Christine Baranski, but I really, really, REALLY want Hendricks to win. She did amazing work this year on Mad Men, and I would love to see the Emmys single out her performance.

The Hollywood Reporter is also on Hendricks-Emmy Watch – they had a nice story about how far Christina has come from the first time she came to the Emmys, in which no major designer would send her a dress because she wasn’t a size 0, to now where she’s already being wooed by major houses like Vivienne Westwood (she has a contract with Westwood’s jewelry line) and Versace – Versace even invited Christina to the Spring show in Paris and put her up in a hotel (all expenses paid), and Christina got a front-row seat at the show too. I think that’s great – it’s past time for major designers to really WANT to dress a celebrity who is bigger than a size 0.

Christina’s body is crazy – I mean, her rack and hips are huge, while her face and arms are really really thin.

If I gain weight to attain her figure, my face would bloat up!

Yeah she is very well proportioned. I’m rooting for her to win.And Jared Harris, Lane Price deserves a real achievement!!!

She was really great in Mad Men’s last season, i love Joan’s character. A strong hard-working woman in 60’s, though i like Peggy even more. I hope she’ll be back next season

I agree. I love the women of Downton Abby, but Joan’s arc on this season of Mad Men was devastating. We all know which episode was “the one” (don’t want to reveal any spoilers) and it was just heart-breaking.

I’m so out of the loop. We have limited cable cause we’re on a budget after just getting married.
I didn’t know what Downtown Abbey was! I found it on Hulu. Do you guys recommend it? What channel does it normally air?

Im late in the game with Mad Men. I just started watching the series from the beginning a few months ago. Im now on Season 4 but Im real curious what you mean by “the one’ episode? Please tell, I dont care if spoiler, Im still going to watch all of them.
and I just LOVE Christina on there. also love Peggy but I admit knowing she is a Scientologist makes her a little less appealing to me.

Mad Men is on AMC. It just finished its fifth season, but each season is only around 12 episodes…and there’s about 12 months between each season, so you have plenty of time to catch up. Sometimes the plot is eh, but the clothing and other aspects of the period are amazing.

Macey – the episode was incredible because it was so shocking, but if you really want to know, follow this link (SPOILER! SPOILER!): http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/mad-men-s5-ep10-peggy-joan-don-pete/

Shoot, I hope someone finally dresses her properly for the awards show! It’s one thing to be “wooed” by designers and quite another to receive flattering clothing. Here’s hoping.

True. I despise her character but wouldn’t be upset at all if she won–she does a good job with it. I almost get the sense that with her rising profile, someone told the writers to write some Emmy-hunting material, but that just seems weird. Guess it all came together for her this year, so congratulations on that.

I’d be thrilled if she won. Her character is so complex and unexpected. Christina always impresses me with the amount of emotion she is able to convey through her facial expressions.

Such a talented and beautiful actress-go Christina!!

  7. Talie says:

It looks like te Downton Abbey actors may upset…they have the Mo.

Even if she doesn’t win an Emmy, she already has two trophies!

  9. lucy2 says:

I think this is probably her best shot, her storyline this season was so good and she was great.
I’m kind of rooting for Anna Gunn for Breaking Bad though, but I’d be happy if Christina won.

    • Stellax2 says:

I’d be happy with either one. Both did excellent work in their respective seasons.
Joan had a heavy duty storyline as did Gunn. I commend both on their hard work.

I like the other actresses but I think these two stand above the rest in the episodes which they are nominated.

  10. B says:

I’m rooting for Anna Gunn, personally!
