Elton John: ‘Madonna is such a nightmare, she looks like a f–king fairground stripper’

These are some photos of Elton John, David Furnish and their son Zachary on vacation with Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka and their kids last week. I never got around to covering these photos for whatever reason…? I guess I just forgot. The two families went on vacation last year too, and the photos are really similar (except for the size of the babies). But that’s not the point of this post – the point is that Elton John is still a raging bitch. And I love him. Remember this year’s Golden Globes? Madonna won “Best Song” and she was up against Elton John and Mary J. Blige, and both Mary and Elton were PISSED. Mary didn’t say anything, but Elton and David Furnish basically told everyone who would listen that Madonna is a selfish, narcissistic, talentless POS. Madonna was surprisingly gracious about the criticism, telling reporters that she loved Elton and David, etc. Still, Elton seethed. And now Elton is bitching about Madonna in a new interview:

Sir Elton John has reignited his feud with Madonna by labelling her a ‘f***ing fairground stripper’ in an extraordinary new interview.

The 65-year-old singer didn’t hold back with his criticism of Madonna, with his outburst triggered as he claimed the singer had been ‘horrible’ to Lady Gaga, who is godmother to his and husband David Furnish’s 19-month-old son Zachary.

Elton added that Madonna, 53, had no right to criticise other artists because her ‘career is over’ and her recent MDNA world-tour was less than well received.

Speaking on Australian news and current affairs programme Sunday Night, Elton said: ‘She’s such a nightmare. Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger ****. If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to go and prove … she looks like a f***ing fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga.’

Elton’s comments come after Madonna hit out at Gaga for her track Born This Way having too many similarities to her own 1989 hit Express Yourself.

She said: ‘I thought, “What a wonderful way to redo my song.” I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was … interesting.’

Earlier this year, Elton reignited his long-running feud with Madonna by implying she wouldn’t sing live at the Super Bowl half-time show, saying she should “lip-synch good” in her performance.

The 65-year-old musician’s comments came after David had branded Madonna ’embarrassing’ and ‘desperate’ after her song Masterpiece – from her directorial debut movie W.E. – beat Elton’s efforts on animated film Gnomeo and Juliet to win a Golden Globe award.

He wrote on Facebook: ‘Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!! Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit.

‘Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is. (sic)’

[From The Mail]

Is all of this about Lady Gaga? I doubt it. I mean, I think the Gaga thing is an interesting sidenote, of course, and I don’t doubt that Elton and David want to defend their friend. But let’s be real: Elton and David just have a hate-on for Madonna. You don’t get this worked up about Madonna JUST because she points out that your friend Lady Gaga is a copycat. Something else is going on – maybe it’s just Elton’s completely normal, temperamental, bitchy behavior. Or maybe it’s something else.

Also… “fairground stripper”?? Do fairs have strippers now? I haven’t been to a fair in ages.

Sir Elton you have just won a new fan!

    • autumndaze says:

      Me, too.

Maybe he is frustrated with the recent award acknowledgement she receives for essentially little talent.
Elton has oodles of talent for performing, songwriting and singing. Madonna, on the other hand, has talent for shock value and self-promotion.

      • gee says:

He’s such a diva but I’m totally on his side here too! He has talent coming out of his pores and the media gives Madonna all this credit she does not deserve.

      • only1shmoo says:

Me too! I just read the headline and thought, ‘you go, girl!’ and by girl, I mean Elton. He’s still 10x the lady Madge will ever be.

      • KAI says:

As talented as Elton John is as a performer and singer, let’s not forget the massive contribution Bernie Taupin made to John’s success as a songwriter.

    • gg says:

I agree with is comment about how Madonna should graduate to less dancing and just try and write a few actually good songs. She seems so fixated on trying to project youthfulness that she’s lost focus.

That said, Elton would serve himself better by toning down the public bitchiness. I love him, but he’s not doing anybody any favors by getting so worked up and fuming so much.

      • Tiffany says:

I agree with Elton for the most part, but the way he said it was so bitchy. I think he just makes himself look bad…and it gives more attention to Madonna, when really would be better off if he didn’t give her a reason to respond.

      • Dhavy says:

I love his music and I agree she might want to stick to something more pop. That said, Elton’s music lately makes me want to crawl to a dark place and think about taking antidepressants
He’s starting to sound like Donald Trump and my 85 year old grumpy neighbor….take it easy Sir Elton, love your bitchy diva attitude but you have to draw the line somewhere. Why not throw some hateful words towards a pee-on-me woman who I refuse to mention by name, now that will be something!!

    • corny says:

yet his mirror doesn’t show Angela Lansbury? hmmm…meow!

  2. Cam S says:

I love this rivalry! Team Elton, I adore that bitchy old queen.

  3. GiGi says:

I just love this story so, so much.

And I just have to add that I recently saw Elton in concert and, no joke, it was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Three hours long, singing his heart out the entire time, interacting with the audience. It was really remarkable especially given his age and how king he’s been doing this. He just seemed to really enjoy the entire thing.

    • Hausfrau says:

Totally agreed. I’ve seen him three times in the last 10 years, and each concert was exceptional. He sounds unbelievable live, and seems genuinely joyful and gracious about performing.

    • Raven says:

I can’t remember the show, it may have even been the Actor’s Studio, but Elton was a guest. He was so brilliant that the he picked someone from the audience who came up with a lyric (it was from a book or a poem) and Elton wrote a song at the piano on the spot for the lyric. It was remarkable to watch.

      OK-here it is
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB3MwB2F-wU&feature=related

      It’s worth watching

      • Blannie says:

I got goosebumps watching the clip; thanks for sharing it.

Elton is just the best at what he does. And he STILL sounds so great, unlike so many his age and younger.

        Team Elton!

      • Kiyoshigirl says:

Thanks for that link. I totally enjoyed it, and yes, it does prove that Elton can school Madonna any time he wants to. THAT is talent. No wonder he gets so peeved about auto tune talents like Madonna.

      • EscapedConvent says:

I think Elton has sounded even better with age. No one can bash his musical talent. If he says bitchy things about Madonna, I don’t mind, because he is real & she is fake fake fake fake.

      • the other mel says:

Thanks for that, it WAS remarkable.

      • Jaxx says:

Wow, thanks for sharing that remarkable clip. Elton is one of the true geniuses in music. So many today are packaged by the studios and can barely carry a tune in a bucket.

  4. Helen says:

The video of the interview is here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Elton-John-Rips-Into-Madonna-Again-Her-Career-Is-Over-285199.shtml

Elton sounds awfully bitchy but he’s actually making a point: Madonna made a poor choice with her latest album, by trying to be “hip” and whatnot.

And yes, Team Elton all the way!

  5. Jen34 says:

To be fair, he does say she makes brilliant pop records. I can’t disagree with what he says. Nobody wants to see a granny flashing her boobs.

    Team Elton.

    • IzzyB says:

Agree with you. He’s basically telling her to cover up which, lets face it, we’ve all been thinking.

    • bubbles says:

Newsflash!!! Madonna makes gazillions of dollars flashing her old titties and stankbox and with those gazillions sh rents herself a stable of barely legal hotties for entertainment. can you argue with that?

      • Sabrine says:

Madonna has gone over the top lately although her fans seem to love her. Granted, her last CD basically tanked. But regardless of that snafoo and whatever you say about her, she is talented and has made hundreds of millions of dollars with her records and performing.

Elton really should close his trap. He sounds jealous and petty.

  6. Sloane Wyatt says:

Madge DOES look like a desperate hoochie coochie dancer at the the old timey fairgrounds.

Although today, I don’t think we’re seeing the tired worn out dancers and dog faced boys at the fair. It’s in the past. Maybe that is Queen Elton’s point.

  7. Hanna says:

I doubt that it is about Gaga too, it’s something deeper than that. Madonna is a narcissistic bitch. And wtf is a fairground stripper!??!

  8. Ellie66 says:

Both of them are bitchy old queens lol! I loves me some Elton but he really needs to get his nose up outa Gagas ass! Madonna does need to mellow out and stop competing with the younger crowd it’s not pretty. No sir not pretty at all….

  9. jc126 says:

Funny stuff. I love when Elton John slams Madonna!

  10. some bitch says:

Oh Elton, you whiny bitch, why don’t you go produce a decent record for once in fifteen years?

Elton’s just pissed because Madonna’s tour has only sprung more holes in Lady Gaga’s sinking career.

    • Kayla says:

I know! And he said Madonna’s tour has been a disaster. Maybe for Lady Gaga, lol.

      • Dref22 says:

I watched her in stage recently and it was disastrous. I read that it has been like this on other venues too.

  11. Intercontinental says:

Madonna’s latest escapades prove him right in every sense! When you have to lower yourself to showing breasts as part of your dance routine its time to give up – at any age!!

    Team Elton!

  12. Ainsley says:

Is Elton calling Madge a carny? A sideshow freak? LMAO! Normally I don’t like it when celebs attack each other because it ends up seeming like a PR stunt, but people can attack Madonna if they want to because she’s been dishing it out for years. I don’t feel bad for her.

    • Minty says:

Exactly. There have been many occasions where Madonna publicly dissed other celebrities who took the spotlight away from her antics. And those celebrities deserved the attention because they are way more talented than this cold pretentious bitch.

      Team Elton!!!

  13. Tanya says:

what is it with the British hating on Madonna so much?.. Piers Morgan continually brings her up when there isn’t even a reason to. There is ‘more’ going on than meets the eye. and, IMO, speaking badly of anyone only makes you look bad..whether or not you’re right or not. It shows immaturity and anger inside. Good people don’t speak badly of anyone..especially so publically.

    • Leticia says:

I think they hate her pretension. But I’m not British, so can’t say for certain.

      • Cel says:

When Madonna married Guy Richie and moved to the UK she almost instantly started speaking in what she clearly thought sounded like an English accent and took a house in the country, horse-riding and shooting etc. When she left the UK these activities were dropped as quickly as she had taken them up, making her look like an idiot. Madge has also made the odd rude comment about English life. Whilst Brits will happily take the piss out of themselves, they (like most of us) don’t like foreigners doing the same.

I do however think Elton’s hate for her goes beyond this and his friendship with Gaga.

    • Ava says:

Well here’s the thing. I’m British and I find Madonna desperate and insincere not because of my nationality but because of her actions. Where she does better is that she is subtle in the case of Lady Gaga unlike Elton.

    • Jayna says:

Piers hates her because back in the day in 93 he gave a scathing review of her tour, The Girlie Show, in whatever newspaper or gossip rag he worked for. There was one little problem, he never went to the concert. He was caught being a fraud. She has never acknowledged him. When he got the CNN gig, when they were asking who he wanted to interview, he said Madonna was banned from his show (like she would ever give an interview to him). It got him press, so he has pulled that stunt over and over. What is funny, the last time he went after Madonna and then said this is why she is banned from the show. Madonna’s manager humiliated him. In a statement or on twitter or somewhere Guy O’Seary said Madonna doesn’t even know him. He keeps saying she is banned from his CNN show. So why is it we have been contacted for Madonna to be interviewed by him in England. I guess he has some gig o er there, too. it was too funny. He was made to look like the blubbering fool he is. He then responds that he bands her from there, too.

  14. RHONYC says:

hehehehehe!!!! fuggin’ happy Monday to me, i love this sh*T!!!
Sir Elton is so hilarious with his hate.

i also love that he really is a regular ‘Joe’ despite having more dough $ than Oprah & God. i saw him in a Vicki Becks doc shopping for CDs, i thought he was adorable & so down to earth. 😉

  15. lola says:

Elton is like that cranky grand-auntie who just calls a spade and spade. Everything he said was point on about madonna, she is a great pop singer, and ray of light seemed like this promising start of madonna having a more mature take on her music career. Instead, she’s gone mid-life crisis mode flashing her gristle and it’s just embarrassing.

Elton can’t stand her, but at least he’s being constructively critical, pointing out she could continue her career successfully if she could get past her vanity and age-issues.

    • Tiffany says:

I am with you Lola. Ray of Light was just a great album and I would love to hear more stuff like that from her. Elton is just pointing out the obvious.
If touring is all she wants to do, then stop making music. You would think that the lack of sales from her last few albums would be a good indication that something is not right and to work on it, but her tours are selling out hand over fist so that is her only priority.

  16. Birdie says:

    Team Elton

  17. tru tru says:

heehee, he tickles me when he gets pissy!!

call em like you see em Elton!

  18. lola says:

and a fairground stripper seems like a low-rent type of stripper who’s past her prime.

  19. marie says:

meh, it’s funny and what he says is true but pot : kettle.. he still seems a bit angry that Madonna got that award that she didn’t deserve..

  20. Skins says:

You tell it like is is Elton! She is nothing but a old skank

  21. LittleDeadGirl says:

He really needs to let this whole stupid feud with Madonna go. It just looks poorly for someone his age to be acting so childlish.

  22. tracking says:

Eh, he’s just jealous. Since he looks like a fairground stripper’s grandpa.

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

I think Elton is jealous that someone besides himself, someone he considers beneath his enormous girth…oops, I mean giant ego, can beat him at awards.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

Yuck, I didn’t mean to get sizist. My correction is Elton’s a huge narcissist himself, and it’s the pot calling out the kettle. I’m sure if Sir John thought it would sell tickets, he’d be waving his willy with as much abandon as Madonna’s breast twirls and vadge flashes.

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

Yeppers–peas in a pod, those two. It’s always been Madonna’s schtick though: the crazy behavior and constant reinvention of herself. She’s made a career out of being an obnoxious egomaniac.
Does Elton not see that her latest incarnation is just a continuation of that? OF COURSE the old whore is gonna start flashing her bits at 50. What should annoy him is how predictable she is.

  23. dorothy says:

Agree. Her constant attempt to be 25 again is sad. She just comes off as cheap and desperate.

  24. Leticia says:

    Team Elton.

  25. ladybert62 says:

I dont like Elton but for once he hit the nail on the head. Cant wait to see how the “fairground stripper” responds! ha ha

  26. neelyo says:

I hate him now. All he does is complain about other people. And his opinion on anything is worthless. Lest we forget, he performed at Rush Limbaugh’s most recent wedding!!!!

He’s a fat old crab with a cheap rug who should just shutup and enjoy the royalties. All he’s got left to sell is sour grapes.

  27. mewmow says:

Their feud goes wwaayy back, but I can’t for the life of me remember what started it. I’ll have to look it up now, bugging me… 🙂

    • Hautie says:

I can’t recall which concert. But Elton publicly humiliated Madonna… for lip-syncing a very public concert of hers. Elton was insulted that she would charge all that money and not sing live.

Then Madonna got pissy that Elton would have the nerve to say it in the press.

She insisted that she NEVER EVER lipped synced. And things have been ugly between them since. But I am sure there is more to Elton screwing with her than what has been reported.

But it is time for Madonna to find a new angle of shocking the public. Besides getting naked. She just reeks of desperation.

      • Jayna says:

Actually you’re wrong. Madonna won that year for best live show or tour. He wasn’t even up for the award. But he came on the stage later for something and was disgusting, showing his hatred for her and saying why did she get an award for lipsynching? It was bizarre behavior and he looked like an idiot and mean. Guess what, I went to that tour, and she wasn’t lipsynching. Madonna’s vocals are far from perfect all the time. The only song she sang over a backing track and doesn’t try to hide it was Vogue, which she always does, because it’s more about the performance and one vocodor song. You can see for yourself she sings live. She’s not always perfect live but gives a lot of heart in her performances. He had to go to People Magazine and issue an apology and admit he was drunk. Madonna never said a mean word back to him.

        Like a Prayer – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msHwO0cTiLw

She sang this for the audience towards the end of the show.

  28. mzthirtyeight says:

I don’t see the humor in this that many others do. He doesn’t sound clever or wry, he seems like a bitter narcissist himself that needs to focus on other things and get over it. I certainly would never want to hang with this crank*if given the chance). It’d be straight-up gossipy bitchery with none of the chuckling. This is NOT to say I’m Team Madonna-Madge-Esther whatever! That very small ship sailed long ago.

  29. Chatcat says:

Says one Diva of another Diva.

  30. mia girl says:

There must be years of backstory and drama we don’t even know about between Elton and Madonna. If we could harness the energy these two must use to hate eachother, we could probably light up a small country.

If I had to pick a side, it’s gonna be bitchy Elton, because current day Madonna flashing us her day-old yeast bread biscuits is just gross and pathetic.

  31. Christina says:

Why is everyone saying Madonna shouldn’t have made a dance album bc she’s just trying to “compete” with the younger crowd. If you knew anything about music you’d realize that Madonna has been making this kind of music for over a decade and she’s one of the first, if not The first, mainstream artist to incorporate techno beats into her music. Every other pop star is following HER lead, as always.

    • flan says:

      Sing it, Christina!

I find the hatred of Madonna excessive. There are lots of other older people performing and still doing crazy things, but they don’t get flack.

Oh, wait, of course. It’s because they’re all MEN, and we should therefore be banned from critizising them.

    • Nev says:

      word.

      elton sit down.

  32. Christina says:

Eww he’s so bitter he has no friends. That’s why he picked someone he just met to be the godmother of his kids. I feel sorry for his children that they have to grow up around so much negativity. I may not like some of Madonna’s crazy antics but her song was better than Elton’s. That’s why she won. He needs to get over it.

  33. DANDILION says:

Cruel compliments she was hoping for.. she gorges.. richly feeds on negativity..

  34. logan says:

From his lips to Gods ears. I remember fairground strippers, except we called them hoochie coochie shows. Older overweight women shakin their bits and pieces. lol

  35. mln89 says:

    elton john is effen hilarious.

  36. Jackie O says:

she is a nightmare, but she still makes hit records. he doesn’t. seems like old fashioned jealousy to me.

i guess that’s what happened when he was relegated to making music for disney soundtracks.

  37. NM6804 says:

Elton John is being immature and crude and whether or not it’s “endearing” or funny because he’s gay (“oh what a queen” *eyeroll*) is debatable. Using sexist slurs to one woman to defend another who is copying Madonna no less is disgusting and pathetic.

It seems as if he’s using lame excuses (his friendship with Gaga) as a means to justify his relentless hate on for Madonna. We get it, he doesn’t like her but between him inserting her in conversations that have nothing to do with her and Madonna herself reacting more than forgiving on this matter, I say John is making a fool of himself.

You would think that wisdom comes with the years but in his 60+ years on this world, he still hasn’t learn to let certain things go and carry himself with some decency. This fued consumes him and I wonder if that’s what he wants to learn to his children.

My “love” for Madonna is waning fast (also thanks to some CB’ers who continue to out her hypocrisies) but when men try to degrade a woman with slurs like that, that’s where I draw the line.

Like Madonna or not, John’s behaviour is less than respectful towards a woman and no amount of “yay, let’s hate Madonna” justifies some of the words he chooses to describe Madonna.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

THIS exactly. Not particularly a fan of either one of them but a bit baffled as to why everyone is applauding his behavior.

      • Tiffany says:

I think people are applauding his behavior because everyone has seen Madonna “mean girl” others for decades. People have no sympathy for her because she has treated others so cruelly for so long, so they see this as more of entertainment. They know that she won’t be hurt by this, she will just come back with an equally bitchy remark and revel in the attention. The whole thing is so absurd, it is comical. At least that is what I get from reading most of the comments.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I know this saying is annoyingly trite but I think it’s pretty applicable in this scenario: “two wrongs don’t make a right.”
If everyone thinks Madonna was rude by making off-color remarks in the past, then I don’t see how Elton would be perceived as anything other than rude for doing the same thing.
Meh. As I said, not a fan of either but this is some childish sh*t, don’t you think?

      • Tiffany says:

I completely agree that it is childish. There is no dignity in Elton’s behavior, at all. At the same time, it doesn’t make me feel bad for Madonna because she does it too. No winners here!

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

ITA-they both come out of it looking badly.

  38. tmbg says:

I don’t like any of their personalities, but I still enjoy some of Madge’s music. Elton’s greatest hits are on my playlist too. As for Gaga, she’s only been around for a few years and already feels like a has-been. When I hear her songs (which I used to think were catchy), I just get incredibly bored.

All three of them are bitchy!

  39. Dap says:

The only thing as disturbing as seing Mamaw trying to be sexy on stage is watching Papaw pushing this stroller. Learn how to live your age, people!

  40. bagladey says:

EJ is hysterical, that comment was one of the highlights of my weekend.

  41. Elj says:

Oh Elton honey, you seriously aren’t one to talk.

  42. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

Agree with most everyone Gigi saw him way back in the day 3 hours live music nothings changed;amazing these pop stars give maybe a total of 1 hour of music with lip synching and backing tracks and many today consider that a concert, Back in the day bands played 2 hours min, sometimes 3 hours, hell the Allman brothers could do 4 hours. Real music by real musicians.
    One reason to dislike madge, and it was stated on prior threads, was that unlike EJ, madge has no real interest and love of music for it’s own sake, it’s just allowed her to become a fake pathetic narcissistic one per center;
A lot of people say she should concentrate on writing good songs, but has it occurred to you that she doesn’t have the depth or talent to do that, she just isn’t that creative on her own without her management team battlion.

    • TracyK says:

This, this, this and an up arrow!

      “One reason to dislike madge, and it was stated on prior threads, was that unlike EJ, madge has no real interest and love of music for it’s own sake, it’s just allowed her to become a fake pathetic narcissistic one per center;

  43. bns says:

I’ll never forget his face at the Golden Globes during her acceptance speech when he said she didn’t have “a fucking chance” of winning.

    It was priceless.

  44. EllaDee says:

I had no idea he’s so close to Gaga… you have to be pretty close to a person to choose her to be their kids godmother!

  45. Patricia says:

Elton, I’ve always loved you …

    but now I ADORE you!

  46. Christian says:

Sorry, I will never get tired of this feud. Bitchy old queen vs. bitchy old queen. They were friends at one point so I wonder what happened, I’m surprised Elton doesn’t come out and say it. Madonna is wise to take the high road (publicly).

  47. Sarah says:

Maybe he meant to call her a lot lizard? Which….yes.

  48. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

I think Elton is being a pig.
It’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

  49. Jayna says:

Wow, if Kanye West called her a c – n t, he would be bashed everywhere. When is it acceptable to call a woman that by a man? She isn’t the first woman he did it to either. I am shocked by women on here accepting that word as funny. Madonna’s song was better than his easily, and his was like a poor knockoff of a Beatles song anyway. All actors, singers, TV shows and actors lose when they think they should have won. Who goes around acting like an old bitchy queen with his Twinkie husband bashing her before on the red carpet and immediately after posting to the Internet from the show?
Madonna was actually classy and said backstage when asked about his behavior regarding her win that she adored him, he was brilliant, and he will still be winning awards. Her writing partner on the song, the brilliant Ray of Light William Orbit, couldn’t
believe the crap Elton’s husband was writing and tried to respond to him on his post that this wasn’t the way to act and handle someone winning, but ever the getleman he
is refused to get into an ugly back and forth and signed off. Yet past some coverage, no bashing, it’s ignored. Again, if that was Kanye West would have been blasted. Elton
hates Madonna for her huge After Oscars annual party that takes celebs away from his.

Madonna would not criticize some of his crappy output over the last eight years, but he’s allowed to? I have no problem with him saying that, if it wasn’t done with hate and viciousness and a disgusting misogynist slur. And calling her career over and the tour a disaster? I can’t tell you the people who have raved about her show, which is on a scale far more than a pop show. It’s actual theatre in parts. Who is he to go there, just like who was he to go after Billy Joel’s career making uncalled for remarks publically and now Billy
won’t talk to him. Elton needs to worry about his own disgusting behavior and musical output.

    • Dani says:

Thank goodness! Another person that can’t understand the support Elton is getting. As you said, anyone else who called a woman a C would be hounded and ostracised. WHY is it suddenly acceptable because the recipient of the term is Madonna? Sure, she is tacky and her stage antics don’t impress me. But, WHO IS SHE HURTING? She isn’t hurting anyone (except her self-respect). So why abuse her with such a nasty and hateful and sexually hateful name? Like you said, imagine if Kanye West, or even Chris Brown abused a woman and called them that. Would the women on here support Kanye West or Chris brown? A man calling a woman a C is something that, despite the recipient, NO ONE on here should applaud. Frankly I’m shocked and absolutely disgusted at the people supporting him, especially the women. I’m so disgusted. 🙁

      • flan says:

        ITA with both of you.

There’s a lot of misogynism interwoven with Madonna hatred.

Elton and his husband’s anger towards her seems ridiculous. What has she ever personally done to them? Win an award they wanted?

Can you imagine Nicole Kidman slamming Natalie Portman like this after she won the Oscar? Everyone would be talking about it to this day. But when a man swears at a woman, it’s all fine, eh? Disgusting.

  50. DuBarry says:

I’m pretty sure people have been saying Madonna’s “career is over” since 1983.

  51. Kiyoshigirl says:

Sadly, I think this time around on tour Madonna looks really pathetic in chosen costumes. I know it’s unfair to peg her as “done” just because she’s reached a certain age, but there’s nothing more pathetic than an aging rocker who doesn’t adapt. She’s always been known for her ability to adapt over the years, but she’s apparently lost the knack. If I were her (big laughs here)I’d tone down the attempts at looking young and push the message that one can hip at any age. She has the best of the best around her and certainly her costume designers can lead her into a more age appropriate style. I’ll probably get bashed for being an ageist here, but even Madonna can’t continue to pull this off when she’s 60.

    • Jayna says:

I have to say i don’t see the problems with the costumes. Her first one in tight black pants and a long-sleeved shirt low-cut and high boots she looked amazing. For such a little thing it made her legs look so long while dancing. Next her men’s dress slacks with a tailored shirt and long gloves was so Marlene Dietrich. I loved it, and the amazingly constructed Vogue homage cone bra in some type of hard mesh over the blouse was gorgeous for that one song. Taking off her blouse at the end of Human Nature for the slow waltz like Like a Virgin was all theatrical. She is performing the song as an older woman broken from the baggage of divorce wanting to feel fresh and new again. Reviews have called that performance a return to brilliance for Madonna. If Sigourney Weaver took off her shirt playing a scene in a bra and dress slacks who would say a word. The scene with Madonna was theatrical. Before at the end of Human nature when she flashed for a few seconds part of her rear in fishnets and thong or part of her breast I get. She is addressing all the remarks about her and saying she can still be sexual. It is to provoke, but done to make a point in the context of the song Human Nature leading into her fragile performance of Lije a Virgin. From there she is in a beautiful leather skirt to her knees, stunning boots, nice top and furlike vest over that and a beret. After that Madonna is in shiny leggings with a Joan of Arc type tunic covering her from her neck to her ankles with splits on the sides for her slow choreography in one song and for her Like a Prayer performance. Her majorette outfit is technically too young for her age. I agree. But it’s not very short and actually that is a massive showstopper, drummers suspended from the ceiling, drummers and majorettes dancing. So somehow in the context of the spectale of the show Madonna’s outfit doesn’t look too stupid, but I would have preferred something different for sure.

Madonna’s best costumes were in The Confessions tour. She was so sophisticated and gorgeous, even regal in the beginning with the riding outfit. And the ending set when she put on a retro Danskin, I dare anyone to say she looked too old in that at 47. Her body was amazing. Of
course she was six years younger, so that makes a difference as she looked like she was only 40 in that show.

  52. Dani says:

I don’t like Madonna’s ego or personality but I’ve heard she really does go that extra mile to put on a great show for her fans, when all Elton does is sit down on his ample backside, and play a piano. Like, can’t he afford to pay anyone to do the instrumentals for him? He seems lazy and unwilling to even try for his fans. As for Gaga, is he telling us that if someone blatantly ripped off/stole his songs that HE would be HAPPY about it? What Madonna says about Gaga is fair and I think if the shoe was on the other foot Elton would be crying foul too, far more aggressively than Madonna. Elton John is a geriatric singer from a hundred years ago slamming a still modern and very popular singer who does more than sit on her behind and sing, she sings and dances and entertains. Perhaps if he was healthier he too could sing standing up and dance a little. Maybe then he wouldn’t be so OBVIOUSLY *jealous* of her.

  53. Team Madge says:

Team Madonna forever. Elton is an old jealous bitch. He can’t stand that Queen Madonna is all the time relevant and makes tons of $$$.

  54. Dani says:

Further, I don’t understand how people can applaud him for this attack on a woman. What sort of a man calls a woman a ‘c'(u next tuesday)? Its bad enough if its done by a woman, but for a male to call a woman a ‘c’ and people are saying they are Team Elton? Wtf? Calling a woman a stripper, insinuating she is a whore, and calling her a ‘c’ are acceptable things for a man to do to a woman now, is it? The applause he is getting from this, especially from other women on here, absolutely disgusts me! Someone who holds that view of a woman and think its acceptable to call a woman a whore and a c, is a male chauvanist pig and possibly an abuser of women too, due to the obvious hate for women. A man should NEVER call a woman the c word, EVER. With so much disdain and objectification and hate for women, lets hope his next child is not a female, because heaven help them if they are with that woman-hater. Team MADONNA purely for the sexist abuse, alone!

  55. F5 says:

Oh John, unclutch your pearls and go raise those 3 kids you adopted.

  56. TXCinderella says:

Elton John has always been awesome. He is a true talent, of which there are not many of those around today. I agree with him, Madonna tries too hard. She should stick to what she is best at and quit trying to prove that she is still relevant to the younger crowd.

  57. Lisa says:

I will agree with one thing: Best Song is questionable. I think her last strong album was Ray Of Light. After that, she just coasted on the name she earned for herself, and it does feel like her stage antics are getting more desperate. By this point, the expectation of controversy from Madonna pretty much cancels out any ~shocking~ thing she does.

“saying she should “lip-synch good” in her performance.”

You should learn how to talk gooder, Elton.

  58. Emperor's New Clothes says:

    It’s misogyny, pure and simple.

Some gay men detest strong women and some gay women have a real hate for men.

If you go back and look at his comments over the years he seems to be peeved that Madonna is “queen of gays” when he believes he should be.

    • RHONYC says:

i think the REAL reason Madge is jealous is that Gaga penned a gay anthem/hit, when after 2 decades she never did.

Madonna was supposed to be this big gay rights activist, but how come she never wrote any songs for ‘the kids’ if she’s so down with the gay community, huh?

Gaga beat her to the punch and now she’s swole, & Sir Elton has called her out on it. haha 😆

      • Crystal says:

Umm no. She wasn’t even pissed at Gaga or she would have said something when that song came out. She only said something a year later bc everyone noticed how Gaga’s song sounded just like Express Yourself and people asked her about it. If anything she was probably pissed at Gaga for lying by saying that Madonna emailed her and said she approved the song when she didn’t. Then Gaga tries to make up some lame excuse saying Whitney Houston inspired her for that song when it didn’t sound anything like a Whitney Houston song.

    • Selena Castle says:

So very true! Madge has always been a supporter of the gay community whereas dear old Elton famously refuted gay rumors and even tricked some poor cow into marrying him! Only later did he “come out” when it was acceptable to do so. I don’t like either of them as artists. As people Elton has always grated on me as the sort of person that would jump on any band wagon to appear “cool”. I mean how long has he known “Gaga”? 5 minutes? And she is the godmother to his child??? Give me a break!!!

  59. Tansey says:

Never been a Madonna fan, but have always been an Elton fan. EJ is right, Madonna is trying way to hard to be “young” and it’s just embarrassing. Plus, EJ’s music is way better.

  60. mytwocents says:

I have loved Elton from the first time I heard Your Song on the radio in the 1970s. He is an exceptional talent and as stated wonderful in concert. I own many albums and cds. When Madonna came on the scene in the 1980s, she started off being over the top with her writhing on the stage during Like a Virgin, because she was a no-talent hack from the beginning and had to do something to hide that she couldn’t sing worth a darn, and she has rode that controverial horse through her entire career. Talent be damned.

As far as him calling her a c+nt, its not very nice of him, but I’ve always felt there is nothing wrong with calling a woman a deragatory term IF that is what she truly is. And Madonna’s picture is in the dictionary next to that word because it defines her better than any word out there.

    Team Elton

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

“there is nothing wrong with calling a woman a deragatory term IF that is what she truly is.”

Um, excuse me? And who exactly determines whether a woman is a “c*nt” or not? You? For every person that thinks Madonna is a “c*nt” there is a person who thinks she’s not. What if I think you’re a “c*nt” and you think you’re not, well I guess by your logic I’m entitled to call you that because I think it’s true. The problem (one of several actually) with your comment is that who is/is not a sh*tty human being is a matter of perception-it’s not hard-line, indisputable fact.

In short, please stop defending the use of this term, it really makes you look unintelligent. If you’re an Elton fan, that’s fine but don’t pretend that it’s EVER ok to use terms like that in reference to a woman.

      • Aotearovian says:

+ eleventy jillion. mytwocents’ attitude is repellent.

@mytwocents: Note that I’m not calling YOU repellent. That would be indefensible – even if that’s what you truly are.

  61. Christian says:

I for one have never witnessed Lady Gaga dressed as a fairground stripper. Always a modest dresser, that Gaga.

    • Chris says:

Lol. I know, he’s such a hypocrite. This lady tweets naked pictures of herself to her 12 yr old fans!

  62. BW says:

“Sir Elton John has reignited his feud with Madonna by labelling her a ‘f***ing fairground stripper’”

This from the man who spent his career looking like the pole.

That said, I’m team Sir Elton.

  63. barb says:

Elton John is a true legend. Have always loved him, and now I love him even more! Madonna has always been a class A narcissist….have you ever seen her on a talk show, or that dating show that was on for a while where she was one of the judges? She usually disses the host, and puts others down to make herself look good. That’s actually clinical narcissism..called NPD. Her to a T. She takes mean girl to a whole new level.

    • Str8Shooter says:

While I could NOT agree with you more about that botoxed old bag being a See Ya Next Tuesday to anyone she feels is beneath her, it makes me laugh that this equally pretentious, bitchy queen is going to dish anyone on their looks…or career for that matter. Look in the mirror much, Queen Elton?

They’re BOTH equally obnoxious, VILE people who will stop at nothing to stay relevant. Lest anyone forget he sang a duet with a guy who used to sing about stabbing gay people!

  64. Me Too says:

Let me preface this by saying I’ve never been a Madonna fan but…I find it interesting that when a woman continues to perform the way she has always performed, she’s laughed at and comments are made about her age etc. Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones, even my hero Bruce S AND Elton are all showing their age but we don’t seem to laugh at men who age and continue to do their thing. Really tired of the double standard and the way women seem to be the worst participants in denigrating other women. I agree with Elton that Madonna would be better served to stick with pop music but kudos to her for taking a risk with dance music. And, lets face it, Gaga is this generation’s Madonna. And Born this Way is a knock off, pure and simple. That said, Madonna should lay off talking about another artist.

As for Elton and his comments: Pot Meet Kettle!

    • flan says:

      This.

I can just imagine the angry mantears of some dudes if you would talk smack about the Rolling Stones. The same kind of fanboys who slam Madonna for being too old.

    • Minty says:

Do Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, and Rod Stewart grind their crotches onstage? Do they wear skimpy underwear or flash their body parts now? Big fat NO. When Tina Turner performs, she doesn’t feel the need to flash her nipple. That’s because all these performers have great talent. They don’t need to rely on shock tactics because their abilities carry them through.

Madonna’s whole career relied on throwing blatant sex in people’s faces. Rarely did she try subtle sensuality. She regularly used fake controversy and stripper dancing to distract people from her mediocre singing.

You can get away with those antics when you’re young and immature. But she’s still doing the same tired shtick with little growth in her music. When you’re an older performer, people expect you to show signs of maturity in your work.

      • flan says:

One of the Rolling Stones just claimed to have snorted his father’s ashes. Guess that’s not a shock tactic too, ey?

      • Minty says:

        @flan:

Let’s make an important distinction here. Did he snort the ashes while he was performing onstage? Oh, let’s see…nope. I didn’t think so. Keith Richards was a notorious drug addict, so I can’t say I’m surprised he did such a stupid thing. But it was done in his private life, not as part of his musical act in front of an audience. Big difference. He didn’t “just claim” to have done this. He mentioned it during a magazine interview in 2007. The interviewer asked him what was the strangest thing he ever snorted. interviewer, “

      • Minty says:

        interviewer, “

(I wish there was more time given to edit a comment.)

  65. Jayna says:

Elton, Madonna has a message for you:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msHwO0cTiLw

    • RHONYC says:

wtf is up with her band?
they sound like the busted band in ‘The Wedding Singer’.
      they totally suck. womp. 🙁

  66. apsutter says:

Elton is freakin hilarious! I used to love Madonna but I am so over her. He is so right about her and I’ve been saying for years that it’s a shame that Madge stopped evolving after Ray of Light. Her new album was absolute trash and it just makes me wish that she would have continued to make music about things from her life. Not trying to re-live her teens and 20’s. It’ll be very interesting to see where she goes from here.

    • Jayna says:

I think Confessions on a Dance Floor was fantastic, mature dance music that sounds amazing. Music had some great songs and was very interesting and age appropriate. American Life had about five good songs. But her folk songs showed Madonna evoking. I adore Nothing Fails.

  67. Carolyn says:

Elton’s outbust reminds me of an elderly family member some families have who sit in the corner at gatherings and suddenly spring to life, going off their nut and everyone just looks at them and thinks “where the hell did that come from?”

Agree with all commenting that Madonna’s last best album was Ray of Light.

  68. Jennifer12 says:

Elton is correct. I mean, I don’t care for Lady Gaga, and I’m not much of an Elton fan, but Madonna is a talentless hack who accuses other people of what she herself does. She does pretty much anything for attention and calls it art.

  69. Angie says:

Dont care much for either of them, narcissistic old divas arent my thing. However, anyone wins out over madge, she says what she wants, when she wants, about whomever she wants, so this is fair play. Besides, not like he was lying!

  70. erika says:

i think elton should market his own brand of ‘geriatric obnox-xiousness’ but this once die hard madonna fan thinks she should join the AARP as well…

i’m pissed at her for foaming at her mouth about using guns in her show right after the colorado massacre…

i couldn’t give two s***ts right now about free speech (sorry, i am MAJOR cranky right now…UTI infection) but the massacre of 100+ innocent people TRUMPS toting your toy gun around.

put down your fire arms madge, you have no class

  71. Lushus L. says:

Maybe Elton John should concentrate on moob-feeding his infant and leave Madonna alone.

  72. Jill says:

    LOL @ Elton

  73. Shy says:

Madonna is a brilliant manager. And no matter what did Gaga, but we’ll see where she will be in 30 years. In fact, she has become boring and uninteresting, and it looks that the peak of her career was 2 years ago. She is still dressed in her silly clothes, just no one cares anymore.

Why everyone loved Gaga? For her great songs. As soon as she released her last album, where there was not a single hit – she became uninteresting. Madoonna understands that she released a failed album. And to raise interest in the concerts she need scandals. She arranged them. All of this is written in press. Madonna is still relevant. Mission accomplished.

  74. Colin Sullivan says:

They have strippers at fairs? I must be going to the wrong fairs.

  75. skuddles says:

I can’t help but love Elton. In fact, I’ve loved him since I was a kid – decided around 13 that I was going to marry him 🙂 He may have been pretty harsh in his wording here but the fact is, he’s completely right in his insights . Madge is making a big fool out of herself these days. She does look cheap and slutty on stage and her tour is pretty much a disaster. When was the last time Elton had to pull “it” out on stage to get people interested in his shows? Madonna seriously needs to stop flashing us her bits and pieces and quit trying to convince us she’s still a sexy young babe. And make better music!! Everything since Ray of Light has been total crap.

  76. Ramona Q says:

The phrasing Madonna used to say that “Born This Way” sounds just about exactly like “Express Yourself” was pretty tactful, I think. And she’s right, Gaga’s song is very similar. Whether intentional or not – the law does not differentiate – I think Madonna could have sued Gaga for infringement and won. If that puts Elton’s panties in a twist, well, that’s being really stupid. He sounds like an a**hole.

    • Minty says:

And Express Yourself copied some of the melody from Respect Yourself. Another telling bit of info: Madonna has been sued several times for plagiarism and lost. All the imagery in her Hollywood video ripped off the work of photographer Guy Bourdin. Frozen is banned in Belgium. Her Erotica album is banned in Lebanon. She paid undisclosed settlements for those cases. It’s no surprise Madonna hasn’t sued because that would make her a hypocrite. She’s the last person who can complain.

  77. George "Springbok" says:

    Miss Detroit; Fairground stripper……priceless. LOL!

  78. Lushus L. says:

Forget about Elton John, I want to know what Doogie Howser thinks!

  79. NeNe says:

    Team Elton, all the way!!!!

  80. midnightmoon says:

it’s just sad he gets so little press unless he attacks madonna.

  81. SFRowGuy says:

    What’s gotten Elton’s panties in a bunch?

  82. Brianna says:

I love Elton and Madonna. But I do agree that Madonna needs to tone it down with her antics. She’s 50+ and she has 4 children, she should set an example and lead by responsibility.

Elton does come across as bitter though and the best thing he should do as this point is keep Madonna’s name out of his mouth and keep moving. I also find it funny that he calls out Madonna for her sleezy behavior but praises Gaga who rocks the stripper look on and off stage. Hmm…?

  83. alexis says:

    Oh you queens, you.

  84. JessSaysNo says:

Umm they are BOTH old has-beens, clinging to fame in such pathetic ways…

  85. Ravensdaughter says:

Ha-ha-ha!-dead on from one queen to another!

  86. Melissa says:

The hair. Why does she have that hair? And that majorette costume? Give it up, Madonna. Not only are you not British, but you’re also not young anymore.

  87. Asha says:

As much as I hate to say it, Elton is totally right. He makes some really good points there.
