Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson want to be just like Brangelina

This sounds like one of those wishful thinking stories from Star Magazine, but it’s too amusing to pass up: Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are said to be huge fans of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to the point where they copy their fashion and even named their son with an “X” at the end of his name because they wanted a boy’s name like Maddox, Pax and Knox.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have two more admirers: Pete Wentz and his wife, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz! The Fall Out Boy rocker “has a man crush no Brad,” says a source close to the couple. “He practically gets googly-eyed when talking about how much he admires Brad.” Ashlee is just as enamored of the mom of six. “She wore black maxi dresses throughout her pregnancy, copying Angie. And privately, she gushes about how she wants to follow Angie’s lead and do more philanthropic work.” The new parents are such huge fans that they copied the superstar couple’s practice of ending their sons’ names with an X – Maddox, Pax, Knox and now Bronx. “Ashlee worried about being perceived as a copycat, so Pete labored over a name that was similar but unique.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, December 15, 2008]

Ashlee Simpson made her first post-baby appearance last night at a private Fall Out Boy show at the Troubador club in west Hollywood. She attended along with her mother and father. Ashlee looks amazing and I hope she doesn’t lose the small amount of baby weight all at once – or at all.

As for this story that Ashlee and Pete are obsessed with Brangelin, Ashlee did wear a lot of black dresses during her pregnancy, and you can imagine Pete and Ashlee naming their son with an “X” at the end of his name because it’s the style now. I would bet that they’re just following the general trends in Hollywood, which are often set by high profile couples like Brad and Angelina.

They should have labored a lot more over a name, because the one they chose will have that poor kid on the ground every day, before ,during and after school, getting the crap beat out of him.

  2. Len says:

Know Wentz has to be the worst name to pronounce easily. Try saying it quickly…it sucks! How can they not have tried it out with the last name to see if it’s easy to say??

  3. Len says:

    I meant Knox ofcourse

  4. Alexa says:

Holy WOW! Ashlee looks deliciously breath-taking in these photos. GORGEOUS! And critics, you’ve got to admit – these guys seem sincere and genuinely in love with one another. Rock on Ashlee & Pete!

  5. meme says:

    what assholes.

  6. meme says:

asslee can do all the philanthropic work she wants. it’s not like she has a career or talent.

  7. Kaiser says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a hint of truth to this. Anyhoo, they could do a lot worse as far as role models go.

  8. Codzilla says:

Has the whole world gone mad?

  9. Syko says:

Wanting to emulate Brangelina in philanthropy is a good thing, I’d think. They could find worse role models.

  10. Frenchie says:

yeah, my role models are OJ Simpson (another Simpson), Mickael jackson and Anna Nicole.
Amy Winehouse still has to confirm the good job she is doing with her philosophy of life
What are your personnal role model ?

  11. Because I Say So says:

Frenchie– my role model is Madonna. I am impressed by her ability to squeeze balls with the power of her mind. What talent!

OT: I find it lame that they need to hitch their star (such as it is) onto people more famous and more relevant than these two will ever be. If you want to be philanthropic, DO IT, don’t talk about it.

  12. xiaoecho says:

Len………..they named their baby Bronx Mowgli. how could you forget that. You’re right though, Bronx Wentz it sounds like 2 hammer blows

Knox is one of the Jolie Pitt twins

    Codzilla……….yes

  13. Aren’t their 15 minutes up yet?

Teehee! Wentz with a “man crush” on Brad Pitt. I bet he gets “googly-eyed” thinking of Pitt in his “alone time”.

  14. JH says:

Ugh… Wasn´t there a time when she tried to copy Linsay Lohan and another few months when she copied MK Olsen?? How hard is it to find clothes and make up that you actually like without trying to be a clone of another person?

  15. A.J. says:

Ashlee looks better post-baby than she ever did before, imo. She could stand to keep a few of the pounds she gained

  16. Trillion says:

I used to ride in a car-share with a bunch of kiddies, one of whom was named “Greer”. There is no sound more irritating to me than a child trying to pronounce that name. Just imagine it. “Gweeew!” (high pitched, high volume, over and over). “Bronx” just might be worse. It’s something to consider when naming your kid.

  17. vdantev says:

GET SOME ACTUAL DAMN TALENT GOING THEN !

  18. Trillion says:

Nice to see them aiming so high but the fall’s gonna hurt.

  19. Ter says:

The name sounds like a sneeze attack. Ashlee like to “copy”. She also has ripped off Nicole Ritchie. She’s young yet, maybe she’ll find her own identity soon.

  20. Tina says:

You can always change an idiotic name. Idiotic parents however…

  21. Christina X says:

Ooooh, Pete Wentz has a “man crush” on Brad Pitt! 🙄

Yeah, f-ing right. If he was alone in a room with Brad Pitt for 3 days, he wouldn’t do anything. If anything, he’d go yack up that Flintstone vitamin he ate for dinner and whine to his buddies about his inferiority complex.

Just because you find a person of the same gender intriguing or beautiful does not mean you have a crush on something. I have serious issues with the word “man crush/girl crush” because it’s normally abused by (self-proclaimed) heterosexual kids who don’t want to be gay or bisexual so they resort to flattery in a sexualized manner, because it garners attention.

Maybe I’m weird because I think a lot of my fellow women are pretty kickass and good looking, but never felt anything in my pants.

  22. Codzilla says:

    Tina: So true.

    xiao: 2 hammer blows. 😆

  23. aleach says:

aw i didnt know that angie copyrighted the wearing of black maxi dresses.
