Aretha Franklin shades Beyonce: ‘She did a beautiful job with the pre-record’

OH THE SHADE!!! I have to praise the hell out of ABC News for this spectacular get – seriously, their producers deserve a medal. I would have never thought to score an interview with Aretha Franklin to get her to say something hilarious about Beyonce’s alleged lip-synch of the National Anthem during the inauguration. But ABC News got Aretha, and Aretha brought it home for us, delivering a world-class side-eye at Bey. ARETHA 4 EVA.

She has yet to comment on reports that she lip-synched when performing the Star Spangled Banner at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony. But one person not holding back with her crticism of Beyoncé’s reported miming is Aretha Franklin, who admitted she ‘cracked up’ when she heard the news. However, Aretha, who performed at Obama’s first inauguration ceremony back in 2009, told ABC News that the singer had ‘done a beautiful job with the pre-record’.

She said: ‘When I heard the news this evening that she was pre-recorded I really laughed. I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather. When I heard that I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record.’

And Aretha said that she had never even thought of miming when she performed My Country ‘Tis of Thee four years ago. She added: ‘I wanted to give people the real thing and pre-recording never crossed my mind.’

Jennifer Lopez also addressed the rumours during an interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Tuesday night.

Asked her opinion on pre-recording the track for such a public event, Jennifer said: ‘Sometimes it happens when you are in certain stadiums and certain venues and things, they do prerecord stuff because you’re going to have that terrible slapback.’

She added: ‘If I remember rightly, Whitney Houston was also recorded when she performed at the Super Bowl. And it was an amazing rendition – everyone loved it and it became a huge hit.’

This is not the only time that Beyonce has been haunted by claims that she did not actually sing when she claimed to: in the 2009 Academy Awards, she starred in a musical number with the show’s host, Hugh Jackman, and many believed that she did not actually sing.

The event’s organisers did not clarify, either, saying only: ‘As is the case with any live event of this scale and scope, there are always elements of the show that are pre-recorded. But I will not go into detail about which elements were on this show.’

Calls to Beyonce’s press representatives from MailOnline were not immediately answered.

The singer’s next major live performance will be at the Superbowl in New Orleans on February 3.

[From The Mail]

I think at this point, everyone is going to be throwing shade at Beyonce, and what shocks me is that The Mail didn’t end the story with this line: “The singer’s next major ‘LIVE’ performance will be at the Superbowl in New Orleans on February 3.” I think we’re all entitled to some sarcastic air-quotes, don’t you? Beyonce sings “live”. She’s going to sing “live” at the Super Bowl. She’s going to rip out her earpiece and bring it home because she’s singing “live”.

Beyonce just released a ton of new photos on her Tumblr too, and all of them are from the inauguration or her “rehearsal” (meaning when she recorded her vocals). And it’s clear that Beyonce is convinced that inauguration was totally ALL ABOUT HER. Here are some of the photos (you can see more here):

Hahaha~Don’t mess with the Queen of Soul!!

  2. Riana says:

…Aretha Franklin shaded herself with that face, wow.

    Nightmare fuel.

  3. OhDear says:

Damn, that is some shade! Does Aretha Franklin have beef with Beyonce?

Personally, I don’t see how the pre-recording’s such a big deal. Isn’t it pretty standard (PSY did it during some of his concerts, for example. But to be fair, he’s dancing during them).

    • Lucinda says:

It’s not. Her pretending that it was live the way she did is what’s a big deal.

      • RocketMerry says:

Agreed. The way she mimed, the theatrics… and when she took ou the earpiece, as if the music in her ear was just too distracting when she was making such an extreme effort to sing beautifully and passionately!

Just have some dignity and spare us, Bey-bey.

      • Rikki says:

Singers still need to wear the earpiece to hear the song even if it’s lip synced. She still had to hear herself. I think she started singing live with the backing track half way through the song.

    • Kay says:

I don’t think she has beef but she’s always been a hard one to please. If you wanna break into that club (Aretha, Patti, Gladys) you gotta get her approval.

      • Samra1116 says:

Aretha has EARNED the right to say whatever she pleases. She is a true singer and artist. No auto tune —-LIVE concerts. She is the Queen
Of Soul. She earned that title. IMO

      • Kay says:

        @Samra1116
Oh I totally agree! I guess that was just my round about way of saying she’s the Queen! I like that she’s a bit hard on the younger generations, people throw out acclaim so quick but she keeps things in proper prospective. It’s never personal, she’s just hard to impress.

      • Lindsay says:

“Aretha earned the right to say whatever she pleases”. Really? I thought everyone was entitled to free speech, not just people who have “earned” it (by being singers, no less).

    • Garvels says:

I agree with the others that the big deal was her presenting the performance as a live performance when it wasn’t. Kelly sang live,Beyonce did not sing..she did theatrics. I think why people like me, get irritated when singers who utilize modern technologies,is the fact that Beyonce earns hundreds of millions of dollars for her image as a singer. Aretha and Gladys never made that kind of money and they could actually sing live with no technical intervention.

    • BeesKnees says:

If a recall, a few years ago Beyonce called Tina Turner the queen at the Grammy Awards which angered Aretha since she is the only “queen of soul” there is. So that may be where a little of the beef comes from.

  4. dd says:

The shade. U go Aretha. I like her “that was good for her but I would neva!!” comment.

    • Cazzie says:

First of all, I think it’s totally fine that B lip-synched her way through the song.

Second of all, I LOVE the comment from Aretha about the weather being cold and that ‘most singers’ couldn’t handle it…but she could! Go Aretha! The Queen of Soul, the one and only! She could handle it no problem. Pre-recording never even crossed her mind. 🙂

      • su says:

i dont understand the shade because aretha admitted that SHE also mimed at the NBA finals in 2005….

  5. brin says:

Bey has been served by the best. Go Aretha!

  6. Jules says:

I am so over her. Doesn’t poor Bray have the ‘power’ to sing live?

    • Liv says:

Yeah, I’m over her too. Why is she acting like she would sing live and it would be a great effort to do so, when she just didn’t? What a fake bitch.

    • NYC_girl says:

I like Beyonce’s music (probably because of its production) but I don’t think she has a powerful voice. I was never a fan of Whitney Houston but THAT is a voice which which could pull off a live performance.

  7. Lizzie K says:

Somewhere in heaven, Etta James is laughing her ass off!

  8. Eleonor says:

    Queen Aretha always.
Now I’ll say something nice: the Pucci dress is beautiful, and Beyonce looks good in it.

  9. Launicaangelina says:

Ugh… I can’t stand her. It’s funny to me because she works so hard to manufacture this image and then the cracks show. She’s so fake.

    • Troubadour says:

This. It just strikes me as being somewhat cowardly too. She’s afraid she’s going to screw it up and break apart that perfectly crafted image. God forbid anyone see her for who she actually is, whatever that might be.

Funny thing is (as Launica points out) it’s going to happen one way or another.

  10. Lem says:

Does Beyonce ever actually sing live? I thought not.
It would be hard not to be so cocky when the world licks your feet. Look at the military faces in that last photo. Shine on

    • TG says:

Too funny. I think the difference between Beyonce and Britney is Bey believes her own BS whereas Britney is a mess because she knows she is a fraud. I couldn’t imagine walking around like a queen if I knew my voice wasn’t that great. But, you can’t really blame her though because the fans want a good show, they don’t care about your actual voice.

    • Rikki says:

Beyonce is not Britney. She does sings live most of the time. To me it sounds like she sang live and lip synced.

  11. lilred1 says:

Aretha has earned the right to throw all the shade she wants…she is ALL that.
And Beyonce just thinks she is.

  12. Lem says:

WTF, the power to back off the marines in the media, well played Bey, well played

  13. renee says:

I think that Aretha is still pissed about the time that Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as the Queen. I do like how Aretha got her jab in….

  14. Agnes says:

Oh, Aretha. Exquisite, as always. I love it, “for most singers, it’s not good weather to sing in”. I was at the 2009 Inauguration, it was freezing as hell, and Aretha had no problems singing (or, if she did, it wasn’t noticeable). Then again, Aretha isn’t “most singers”. Beyonce is.

  15. V4Real says:

Love the side-eye to Bey from Franklin.

But seriously people need to stop comparing Bey lip-synching “The National Anthem at the inauguration to Whitney’s lip-synching it at the Superbowl, it’s two different entities.

Let’s not forget Whitney performed it live for the troops and it was released as a single. Most people said that was the best rendition of the Anthem they had ever heard. Whitney brought tears to the troops eyes with her version.

Bey had probably planned on faking it at the superbowl as well; Madonna did it last year.

If she does lip-synch at the SB I hope she doesn’t blame it on the weather b/c it will be cold there too.

    • skippy says:

Actually, it won’t be cold at the Super Bowl. It is in the Superdome in New Orleans. No wind or temperature excuses for her.

    • Sisi says:

other differences between Whitney and Bey are that Whitney was wearing simple clothing (a tracksuit) and had hardly any miming gimmicks, making it seem like she was straining herself. She kept it simple in every sense of the word.

    • holly hobby says:

I think the NFL also released info to the media that Whitney will be singing through a prerecorded track. No surprises there folks.

What is getting people’s goat is that Bey wanted to pass it off as genuine. She should have just told the press it will be prerecorded.

I heard on the radio this am that Bey did not rehearse with the military band like Kelly and the other performers so when she was about to go on, she requested the prerecorded track. That just sounds lazy to me. You were asked to do something and it involves practice. Go to practice!

  16. d b says:

Love it! Bey is a very disciplined, competent vocalist. She has a voice that blends beautifully in a group *because* it is not very individual sounding. She’s lovely looking, competent dancer, good writer, but just not thrilling as a performer (to me). You can see all that hard work, working hard (she reminds me of Madonna in this respect), but somehow never lifts off into that realm of truly great artists.

Aretha is a whole ‘nother story, the one and only, truly the queen.

  17. FassDaActor says:

I’m not a fan of B but Aretha is a mess. She’s known for her cattiness. She had her shine. She looks like she’s channeling B with her new ‘do. Smh

    • Eleonor says:

Aretha isn’t a mess, Aretha is a legend, and she is in the position to criticize whoever she wants: she isn’t an autotuned poptart with fake boobs. She is the one and only Queen of soul

      • FassDaActor says:

Like I said, her attitude is a MESS. I’m not speaking on her career. Aretha is a very strong singer. Not a lot of singers are as skilled as Aretha. Aretha can performed under harsh conditions. B is not on her level. We don’t need to be reminded of that. It’s arrogant. Aretha got the crown. I can’t believe I’m defending B but was it necessary? Her career is not an excuse for nastiness. She still keeps her title 😉

    • Sef says:

Aretha had someone in her face asking her about it, she didn’t call up the tv to slam Bey. Truth is her comments were pretty gracious, we are just nitpicking them for our pleasure. ‘Cos sorry, Bey does open herself up to it.

  18. c'est la vie says:

    God, I love Aretha.

She can throw shade whenever she pleases.

  19. Kolby says:

Is she standing in front of a mirror perfecting her lip syncing in that one photo? I’m laughing so hard.

  20. Faye says:

I am amused by Aretha, but I have to correct her on something — no way was it in the 40’s. I live in Baltimore and it was just barely close to 30 on Monday, and people I know in D.C. said it was around that.

That being said, Beyonce lip-syncing is kind of a WTF moment. Why not just get someone, like a professional singer who isn’t a celebrity, who could sing live?

    • taxi says:

Maybe Bey or J asked for the gig? J gave tons of $$$$$ to Obama’s campaign.

      • Chatcat says:

I love Michael K’s Bey is “the First Lady of the Illuminati” remark. I understand that Hollyweird and celeb’s are about 99% fake, but Bey is 99.9% and so I am not sure why she is even relevant in life in general. I guess because Jay Z has risen from drug dealer/rapper to one of the world’s wealthiest and most influential people (UGH) that we have to tolerate Bey’s Fake everything!

Oh and Aretha is the real deal. Long Live the Queen!

      • littlestar says:

Hey chatcat, why do people keep saying Beyonce and Jay-Z are part of the Illuminati (not just in here, have seen it on Dlisted etc)? I’ve seen people make comments about it several times over the past year or so. Is it because Beyonce always makes that Illuminati triangle symbol in pictures? Any kind of proof of this? Very curious about this now.

      • Chatcat says:

little…you’d have to read up about Illuminati a bit and if you believe it to be so, then you’d see where Jay Z and her could “fit the mold”. Jay Z is awful rich and awful powerful in an awful short period of time.

The Illuminati makes the CO$ look like child play in the sandbox…if it is to be believed…or if you just believe a fraction of it.

  21. Lia says:

Now that I listen to it at an higher volume I can hear her singing on the recorded track… I actually don’t see the great deal in this, probably her nerves got her and she wanted to be sure i guess… Anyway while I appreciate more live singing, we can’t deny that beyonce’ can sing live and anyone who’s ever seen her live performances can state that!

  22. Lola says:

It was the affectation of ripping out the earwig that makes this a riot

    • FirstTimer says:

Totally… Some say that she “removed” her earpiece because she was “hearing an echo” as she was singing along the prerecorded performance. I saw the WSJ video and yes, she was singing live, WITH THE RECORD, then again, I watched Kelly’s performance on WSJ and she only had music that she sang along with.

    • bagladey says:

      Really!

  23. Alarmjaguar says:

I just don’t get it — how are people ok w/ the pre-record. Either you can do it (which makes you the star) or you can’t and that makes you ordinary. If we are going to pre-record (with the opportunity to edit autotune whatever) then I could have sung the anthaem. Not to mention why do we even need her there, let’s just play the recording.

Garh, this irritates me to no end. There’s no authenticity anymore. Especially with her pretending to have done it. To me, that’s just lying.

    • Manny says:

Your points are right but the fact that she was singing, like sound was coming out of her mouth! I agree on the authenticity : she should have had the guts of singing without the safety of a backing track!!!

    • Tommy says:

Beyonce has sung live (beautifully) many times. One act of miming doesn’t discredit all of her other wonderful live performances.

      • Lou says:

But it’s the presidential inauguration. A bigger deal than your average stadium concert. I don’t understand why someone would lip sync there. It’s an historic occasion.

So weird. If she can’t handle it, they should’ve gotten someone who could. She’s not up to the task.

  24. Skins says:

I’m shocked that “the power of being a woman” didn’t help her sing the song live. Kelly Clarkson must have felt the power, she had no problems. Hope she doesn’t pull this crap at the Super Bowl. Then again, I hope she does, the backlash will be hysterical

  25. Cam S says:

This has made my day! If you are a singer by profession, then sing live when performing. Otherwise, pop in a CD/mp3 and everyone stand for the national anthem and be done with it, no need to pay these “stars” for any appearances.

  26. Starlight says:

All I can say is that I have respect for Aretha.

  27. gg says:

Girlene needs to lay off the Cirque du Soleil styleee opera makeup.

  28. Patrice says:

That’s why Aretha’s The Queen! Love it 😀

  29. skuddles says:

Hee hee, you gotta love Aretha! Should be funny to see how Bey handles this. She’s pretty much screwed since even the tiniest bit of negativity towards AF will only result in a public backlash – not to mention it will just further publicize the fact she only pretended to sing live.

  30. Melissa says:

No wonder Beyonce’s performance was so understated. She couldn’t go louder because the vocals weren’t recorded louder. When you rewatch the tape there’s a spot at the end of the song where the mouth and vocals don’t sync up.

  31. tabasco says:

omg, Aretha Shade plus FLOTUS Shade in one day! it’s like it’s my birthday.

  32. Annie says:

Told you she’s a fraud! This is her: acting regal, like she’s a living legend, wearing emmeralds, “look I’m not cold!!”, everything is a big deal but wait, it’s not real. Why is she making dramatic faces when singing and removing her ear piece to ~concentrate~ if she was lip-synching?! She loves to bullsh*t people, I don’t get why they build her up like this. She’s not that big of a deal. Everyone outsells her.

Then Kelly clarkson comes out, not wearing millions of dollars in jewerly, not taking herself so seriously and just does her thing, LIVE, knocks it out of the park. She’s down to earth but with an incredible voice. No acts, just a girl and her mic, like Adele. That’s a real star.

Beyonce is so manufactured. She’s a big lie.

    • TableMenu says:

      ^^ 100%.

    • bluhare says:

And apparently, Beyonce never learnt that dressing more extravagantly than the host(s) is tacky.

    • lrm says:

I agree, and Beyonce is so overexposed as well; i cannot stomach even hearing about her-uugh. BUT, her pop songs are GREAt compared to katy perry, kesha, rhianna, etc.

If only Beyonce would know her place-there is a place for ‘entertainers’ like madonna, etc. who do not have great vocals, but still put on a theatrical, elaborate show….which is why it’s okay that she’s performing for SB, lip synching or not…i mean, paul mccartney was at the SB and everone thought he was boring….so a good musician is not always the goal of the SB….

Anyway, Beyonce needs to learn her place….MJ was one of the few if not hte only who could be categorized as both a great entertainer in a theatrical sense, AND a great vocalist.

And why was bey performing at the inauguration, anyway? so many other, better choices for a straight up vocalist.

      • LAK says:

        And Freddie Mercury.

      • Mira says:

Amen to MJ and Freddie Mercury. Madonna is a stunt queen. Her theatrics is supported by lots of talented men and women as backup dancers. She can’t dance or sing. She’s a good studio artist and made some very good videos for MTV. MJ and FM are in a league of their own.

    • Marc C says:

      @Annie

You have such great insight. I’m so sick of Beyonce. She is not a Whitney Houston, a Mariah Carey nor a, ah hum, Aretha Franklin, yet they blow her up like the is the Queen of England. Her last album 4 sucked and compared to even Rihanna, an artist on her level, Beyonce doesn’t sell nearly as many albums. Yet, for some reason, they promote her on a whole ‘nother level. And I’ve heard more than one celebrity come to her defense with the statement, “She’s Beyonce. She can lip-sync if she wants. She can do whatever she wants.” Appalling! I can understand if one celebrity doesn’t want to diss another celebrity, but don’t say dumb sh#t that makes you look clueless. Just don’t say anything at all. And who is Jennifer Lopez to jump to Beyonce’s defense? She’s no real singer. Just a backup dancer with a pretty face and nice body that got lucky! Sit down, shut up!

  33. HK9 says:

When I grow up, I want to be Aretha Franklin.:-) (that woman just made my day!)

  34. NerdMomma says:

I have a question. What was Beyonce doing pulling out her ear piece? What was that supposed to signify? And if she was lip-syncing then how did she do it without hearing that backing track?

I thought singers wore ear pieces so they could hear themselves and stay on-key. Or hear themselves to lip-sync, whichever.

  35. BLOGAHOLIC says:

Something is not quite right with bouncy, can’t put my finger on it, she just doesn’t seem real at all, everything she does is so calculated.

  36. Muffy says:

Beyonce is a studio artist. I don’t believe she has the chops or confidence to sing live. Aretha does, close the library, the read is over!

    • MsAubra says:

I think Bey is more than a studio artist, she just overdoes it at times. When I think of studio artists, I think Rihanna…

  37. Ms Kay says:

Well…. To me the lip-synch wasn’t a big deal, I guess it’s the whole act around it as if it were live? Anyway, let’s just say that Obama #1 fan girl is lucky there isn’t a 3rd term of presidency because I wonder which other Soul Diva would’ve smacked her, first Etta, second Aretha… Means may be she needs to take a seat and re-evaluate the way she does things?

  38. good_as_gold says:

    haha Bey must be fuming.

No way she can get her back on this. Not when it comes from the Queen of soul. Can never have imagined Aretha ever dreaming of doing that. Just goes to show how molly-coddled and supremely into herself Beyonce really actually is, to think that this wouldn’t be mocked?

The Queen got out-Queened this time!

  39. Grace says:

Aretha can give shade all she wants. She was alive and singing when racist people didn’t want her singing in small White churches much less a presidential inauguration. Beyonce cheapens everything she has been honored to represent.

Beyonce makes a big issue of being a “perfectionist” but as usual she’d rather look good than actually be good. She and Jay-Z are so tired. When is the next musical power couple coming?

  40. lucy2 says:

    Gotta love Aretha.

I think there’s a big difference between singing live at an open air event like this, vs. in a stadium where the sound probably bounces all over and there’s 50,000 not so quiet football fans. So sorry, Whitney’s as example doesn’t convince me, especially when the other singers like Kelly had no problems performing live.

  41. Madriani's Girl says:

    1. If she was lip synching, she shouldn’t have tried to make it look “realz” by pulling out her ear piece. Ask any musician why those are worn to begin with: if you are lip synching, you have no reason to have them in in the first place.

    2. People need to remember that lip-synching or not, it was still her voice and at the end of the day she nailed it, pre-recorded or not.

    3. Aretha looks like sh*t.

    • Marc C says:

Why would a person wear the earpiece even though they’re lip-syncing? Um, because we’re talking about Beyonce here… If she didn’t wear the ear piece (initially) wouldn’t it be obvious she was lip-syncing? And this is the same person that unbuttoned her vest and flashed her “supposed” pregnant belly at the end of her performance at the VMAs in 2011 to gain attention, instead of putting out a PR statement like other A-list celebrities do.

Also, those of you who keeps saying that even though she lip-synced, it was still her voice. You all are forgetting one thing about studio recorded vocals. They can be greatly altered to make even Rosanne Bar sound like Whitney Houston. So while we know Beyonce “used to” be able to sing, with her pulling all these lip-syncing performances as of late, that begs the question as to whether or not she still has the chops. And BTW, her inauguration performance was not that great, live or per-recorded. Check out her performance during the Superbowl back in 2004. Now that was a great performance of the National Anthem.

  42. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

Comments are spot on as usual alarmjaguar and annie you’ve got it right; She’s a manufactured fake and the Queen of Soul can say anything she wants; BTw, when did it become common for today’s so-called stars to wear earpieces – this is going back but watch the Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana at WOodstock dvds; stoned, without lap tops scrolling lyrics and no ear pieces and they jammed and made beautiful live authentic music – today’s so-called stars are junior high school amateurs by comparison

  43. judyjudy says:

    Aw, snap!

  44. Cameron says:

I think if Kelly or James Taylor lip synced no one would be ragging on Beyonce. But, with the theatrics, removing the ear piece she deserves the criticism.
And jlo dont compare Whitney’s rendition at the Superbowl. We all know Whitney could sing live before her drug addictions.
Beyonce pre-recorded version was good, but no Whitney. I listened to it again recently and it still gives me chills.. I didn’t feel the same about Beyonce.

  45. KellyinSeattle says:

    The Queen has spoken.

  46. lady X says:

I think also the big deal with the pre recorded is “How much effects were added” ? “How much auto tune was used?” I mean there is no doubt she is a good singer… I would not say great but good… and she did sing over herself at some points … the mike was on…. but to me it was a Inauguration … a Country event … it was not her concert so there was no need to be perfect …
I mean Queen Bey is a hard image to live up to … the thing with her is she gives herself these titles… James Brown never gave himself the hardest working man in show business title the people did …. Aretha was named the Queen of Soul she didn’t name herself that … But Bey gives herself all these titles and says ” She works harder than anyone she knows ” … yeah hard to be perfect and it shows… Just get up there sing for your country and sit down … Honestly it was not that good … at all it was just ok .. I mean if you can not top Whitney … you I could careless anyway ….
The fact that she let Kelly Clarkson and the Black sista in the choir out sing her live is what was hilarious

  47. anne_000 says:

Here’s Whitney singing the anthem live in front of the troops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L_23XC3uCY

Notice, no plucking the ear-piece out of her ear. And she sang it better live than Beyoncé did pre-recorded at the inauguration.

    • celine says:

whitney prerecorded too. just because of the fact that it would have been impossible for her to hear herself with so many people and noises in the stadium.

      it’s a documented fact, sorry.

      • cs says:

However, the difference Whitney was still fierce whether it was pre-recorded or not.. Beyonce was good, no tingles here.

  48. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Aretha’ed in the morning, huh? Funny.

  49. Emma says:

Those photos are so completely indulgent. Yes, it was an awesome moment in her life that should be captured, but it looks like a freaking photo shoot.

  50. celine says:

    wow she looks horrid.

Love the photo of Beyonce rehearsing in front of the mirror. Proof that it’s all about image. I think more than the lip-synching, we are all annoyed because of how rehearsed her theatrics were.

  52. ViktoryGin says:

Singers who have been hired for a gig should….sing.

Call me old fashioned, but that is the job description.

If yor’re going to lipsync, do yourself a favor next time and phone it in. Becuase it amounts to about the same.

I was spared all of it because I didn’t watch any footage of the inaugeration.

Look I find comedy in everything …. The funny thing about this BEYONCE LIP-SYNCING thing is …. She declares herself KING BEY … she comes out in a Pucci Gown and thousands of dollars worth of emerald earrings and all the lace front wigs Washington D.C could muster up Looking like she was headed to the Golden Globes and she was just “GOOD” not “GREAT” not “AMAZING” just”Good” …. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir came out in good old church robes and KILLED …(even the unnamed sista slayed) … Kelly Clarkson looked like she was going for a walk in Central Park and she was AMAZING …. … James Taylor was genius as always and played the mess out that acoustic guitar … I could care less that she pre recorded the track … blah blah blah …She was not trying to protect her voice coming out in 30 below weather with her chest and throat out … save it …. LOL
But all in all I had a great laugh as always

    B just doesn’t have a clue .

  58. Ava says:

Maybe bey is convinced that she is perfect and has to sing perfectly . What she failed to understand was the importance of that moment , we were all suppose to be sharing together as a nation . She took that away by deciding to go with a studio processed recording . Then she had the nerve to over-act and pretend that she was singing with her contrived faces and arm movements . This solidified for me that she cared more about how she looked than the spirit of the moment , she’s pretty dim witted if she doesn’t get why people are upset .

She actually just bores the crap out of me now. I wish she, and her big ego would just fade away.

Aretha, on the other hand – long live the legend!!!
