Granted, I don’t like Natalie (at all!) and she does look a lot younger than her age. But still, isn’t a 31 year old mother a bit ‘mature’ to be the face of Miss Dior Cherie, which is marketed at girls in their teens or early 20s? And yes, these photos are naff. Then again, a company which would hire Mila Kunis – who looks like she sleeps in her make-up and doesn’t shower as often as she should – has maybe lost its touch in the PR game.

There is something about Portman that makes me want to run out and eat steak and fois gras. I find her insufferable. I am also wondering if I am too much of a bitch for my own good. Everyone is making me groan these days. Well, everyone but Emanuelle Riva….

      • Agnes says:

I also find her absolutely insufferable. don’t know why, I always have .

      • bella says:

I can’t stand her either, but for me it’s the same reason I hate Lea Michele. Both loud, in your face vegans who represent cosmetics companies that test on animals. So hypocritical but I guess they think their fans (and everyone else) will look the other way while the rake in the cash like everyone else in Hollywood.

    • Apsutter says:

I don’t think she’s too old for the campaign. Teenagers aren’t typically buying Chanel perfume, not any teens that I know. It’s totally a perfume for 20 something’s or even women in their 30s

Whoops meant to say Dior. But I would lump the two together because both are pricey

      • Christina says:

I disagree. I think all the big fashion houses are wooing the late teens/early 20s market (look at Emma Watson for Lancome), and Miss Dior Cherie has always been aimed at that age group. I suppose the idea is once you’ve got customers at an early age, you’ve got them for life. And young women do buy expensive perfume, or have it given to them as gifts. And remember Dior is not as pricey or snooty as Chanel.

So yeah, I do think Natalie is too old for Cherie. Though given that she hasn’t got the sex appeal or fashion kudos to market any of their more ‘grown-up’ lines, it’s probably the least bad option if Dior insist on having such a bland and unlikable ‘spokesmodel’ (am I the only one who sniggers at that silly word)?

      • apsutter says:

Can I agree but also still say she is a good spokesperson? lol She still looks very young and young women love her so I dont think she’s a bad pick. Now that I accidentally said Chanel I feel like she should be repping for them!

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

I really hate when fashion designers try to age limit scents – sure, some scents are more “youthful” but it is such a taste driven thing. I personally would rather wear Miss Dior Cherie than Opium, and my favourite, discontinued perfume was Par Amour Toujours by Clarins, which was aimed at younger women than me. Which probably failed because it smelled nice and not like candy and so the teen market didn’t look twice at it. So no, I don’t have a problem with a 31 year old advertising this scent, seeing as 18 year olds advertise most perfumes aimed at me it’s all nonsense anyway! I think the second picture is beautiful, not a huge Natalie fan but I love the way they used the light in that shot; she looks stunning.

      • Runaway says:

@Apsutter I agree with you! When my 20-and 24- year-old sisters in law said they were interested in Lancome I was really shocked. When I was growing up it was only moms and grandmas who bought Lancome, and now girls in that age range love it? I was so shocked. Makes sense that they’re reaching for younger markets to get them started early.

  2. Amelia says:

Call me strange, but I’d genuinely love an oversized perfume bottle like the ones you see in these advert spreads.
I love Miss Cherie Dior, but I still prefer Chanel Coco Mademoiselle 🙂

  3. mia says:

How can you be so pretty and have so little appeal?

    • Christina says:

      Good question.

Natalie has a perfect face but all the charm and charisma of a loaf of white sliced bread. Maybe it’s her obnoxious personality coming through? Or maybe she just hasn’t got ‘it’?

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Took the words right out of my mouth. She really is beautiful but so…meh at the same time. There is something really cold about her…no charisma at all.

      • Christina says:

Yes, cold as ice. And not in a sexy Hitchcock heroine sort of way.

That’s why I really cringed at her being cast as Anne Boleyn in ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’. Firstly, she’s a crap actress, but then, so is Scarlet Johansen who played alongside her, so it’s not just that. It’s the fact that Anne Boleyn is famous as a woman who was not beautiful, but was extremely sexy and alluring. Natalie, by contrast, is very beautiful but has NO sex appeal whatsoever. Talk about miscasting!

      • ViktoryGin says:

        @Christina

Thank you. Girl really is a very mediocre actress, but apparently has everyone drinking her kool-aid. But that’s what Hollywood goes for. A pretty face that is just barely skilled enough to be cast in decent projects and be considered “one of the best of her generation”.

    • Kris says:

Yeah. She doesn’t have the “it” factor. Pretty face nothing more.

    • OhDear says:

I think she tries too hard to maintain a perfect image, so she seems practically two-dimensional.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree – I think she’s very pretty, and a good actress, but I don’t think I’d like hanging out with her.

    • Cazzie says:

I’ll join you for the beefsteak and foie gras.

Maybe we can drink a couple of bottles of wine together as well…NON VEGAN wine. Bwahahahaha!

Seriously, Natalie Portman lacks that certain glow (I am thinking about friendly, slightly goofy vibe that the beautifil Jennifer Lawrence has, and how appealing it is).

Natalie Portman is so busy being uptight and snooty and holier-than-thou, it’s a drag. She’ll fit in great in Paris!

    • mystified says:

Agree. She has always seemed stiff to me like she’s pretending to be grownup. She can’t play a convincing adult despite her age. So I guess the fragrance is right for her.

  4. Jenna says:

Some of those Disney pics are just…bad. Oy.

P.S. This 22 year old LOVES that perfume. 😛

  5. Tiffany says:

To Dana White. Water is wet.

    From Tiffany.

  6. La Calabaza says:

I’m not a Portman fan but she’s very pretty and photographed really well. I prefer this ads than Sofia Coppola’s previous monstrosity. Being said that, I think Portman is old for being Miss Dior. She should be doing J’adore or Hypnotic Poison ads instead. I think Jen Law or the girl from True Grit (?) would make a perfect Miss Dior.

  7. Faye says:

They just make her look so mean in these pics. Something about that side-eyed glance and the eyebrows. . .

I think Kiernan Shipka would make a great Miss Cherie Dior spokesperson.

  8. sam says:

Portman looks gorgeous in those pics. I am not sure why everyone is calling her “mature”. If she looks so young why does it matter? It’s not like she’s 40. Jennifer Lawrence looks much older for her age & if Natalie stands next to her I doubt anyone would know the difference.

  9. Sue says:

Not a very creative ad campaign

  10. KellyinSeattle says:

I thought she was good in Star Wars, and very pretty, but her personality is flat. That sized perfume could last me an entire lifetime!

  11. BooBooLaRue says:

    Bland as potato soup.

  12. Launicaangelina says:

Yes, I’m surprised Josh Duhamel and Fergie are still together. I noticed he has a new movie coming out and that’s exactly the thought that crossed my mind when I saw the preview.

  13. LL says:

Kim Kardashian will show up to the opening of an envelope so long as there’s a paycheck involved, so I’m not buying her story of volunteering for anything, let alone at an African orphanage.

  14. Lux says:

Snoozefest! I agree with everyone, quite pretty but with absolutely no allure.

  15. Lexi says:

I used to be a huge fan of Natalie Portman until her Oscar campaign… But I disagree with everyone else, I think this campaign makes her look quite pretty. In fact, I think she’s gorgeous and has plenty of charisma on-screen as well. However, I do tend to avoid her interviews since she’s bound to say something pretentious.

  16. littlestar says:

I thought it was beyond tasteless when I saw that Kim Kardashain posted pictures of her expensive bracelets online for the world to see. Sure, lots of people like to show off their nice new things, but when those nice new things cost approximately $100,000, that’s just plain ignorant. Does she not realize that most of her so-called fans will never be able to afford Cartier? Does she realize it will make her haters hate her even more?

Seriously though, why the need to brag and show off like that??? When I think of other young extremely rich celebrities, most have the class not to post pictures like Kim K did.

  17. Ms Kay says:

Aaahhh Sam Rockwell… So in love with his dancing and acting chops hmmmm

    Joseph Gordon-Levitt… MAH Prince <3 <3

  18. mimi says:

Natalie Portman is so beautiful that she can pull off and even shine with her hair slick-back that way.

Not many women can look so pretty with such hairdo. She does. That’s because of her gorgeous face and the fact that she looks so young.

    I love these pictures.

  19. Jonx says:

    Hypocrite and fake as sh*t

  20. Timse says:

Natalie does look young for 31. She can still pass off as a girl in her 20s. Amazing and talented actress. But I agree that she isn’t very charming in interviews. I used to like her alot but she changed after her Oscar campaigning(People here complain about Anne Hatheway but Portmans was the worst) and I was quite suprised how she decided to be with that Milliped guy. I dunno why but there is something off about him. Something that doesn’t seem genuine. Like how did he become the face of a brand like Yves Saint Laurent? Hes a nobody in reality! Not a star or a model worthy of a brand like that.

  21. Lynda B says:

Though she is lovely, Natalie looks like a little girl. Trying to convince consumers that she has sexual allure almost make me feel embarrassed for her.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

And she has mean eyes which makes the photo look a little creepy – being an educated vegan and all I wonder if NP even has a clue what ingredients are in this perfume she is promoting.

  22. Trashaddict says:

HAHAHA, Kartrashian shows herself signing a BIG check for $1 million CFA francs in Abidjan.
Look up the conversion rate: a grand total of $2,000!

  23. Thiajoka says:

If anyone wants my opinion of “Rapunzel” then I agree with Tina and Amy that she should keep her golden hair up in the tower for a while in order to have some “Me Time”.

  24. Abs says:

AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO LOVES NATALIE? I fit into their target market and I think the ads are fine. Heh, fine. Certainly not exciting, but she’s really not a ~terrible~ choice.

And yeh, I wear Cherie every now and then…

  25. Mandy says:

This is the best ad ever for Miss Dior Cherie.
