Here are some photos of Amanda Bynes wandering around New York on Monday. Fame/Flynet asked, “What is Amanda Bynes smoking?” and they claim she’s got a “very suspicious looking hand-rolled cigarette.” But really look at it… doesn’t it look like she’s smoking a band-aid?! Which would explain a lot. I asked Bedhead and CB to look at the pics, and Bedhead thinks she’s smoking a wood chip, and CB thinks it might actually be the drug “spice” which is like synthetic marijuana and it looks like potpourri. Whatever is going on in these photos, it’s not good.
A lot has been written (on other sites) about the state of Amanda Bynes, about whether we’re seeing a C-list celebrity have a complete breakdown in real time, in real life, or whether this is all some sort of somewhat crazy but mostly famewhore-y excursion which Amanda has designed to get herself some press. My take? I think she has legit mental health issues AND she’s a famewhore. Like, those two issues are not mutually exclusive. She keeps tweeting random nonsense, threatening to sue people for reporting on her antics, she keeps insisting that she’s not mentally ill and she keeps posting selfies and the stories of her antics just keep getting worse. Page Six had a doozy a few days ago:
Amanda Bynes was asked to leave a gymnastics class after further episodes of bizarre behavior, witnesses exclusively tell Page Six. The former Nickelodeon child star stunned fellow athletes at the Adult Gymnastics class at Chelsea Piers when she “showed up in fishnets and a leotard that looked like lingerie.”
Onlookers said the staff became concerned about Bynes, who was “muttering to herself” and then “burst into tears when she attempted a cartwheel and her dark-colored wig fell off.”
One witness told us Bynes first turned up at the class alone about a month ago.
“She immediately started acting strangely,” our source said. “She lined up with the other gymnasts, and each took their turn to perform a roll. But Amanda just walked out on the mat, was spinning around in circles and mumbling to herself.”
Later, when the others were performing cartwheels, Amanda “did a cartwheel, but her wig fell off, and she sat down and cried.” The source added that after a number of other incidents where she was heard mumbling to herself or walking in front of others performing exercises, she was asked to leave.
The source said, “She went two weeks in a row, but the second time, she was escorted out. Staff were concerned about her manner and worried she might be a hazard to other people in the class.”
Bynes has been exhibiting some odd behavior recently, including writing some unusual things on Twitter.
“I have an eating disorder, so I have a hard time staying thin,” she posted on her Twitter feed Thursday.
Bynes appears to have a serious desire to lose weight. Last month, the retired 27-year-old actress called herself “pudgy” in a self-portrait.
She also told Us Weekly in February, “I moved to New York City, and I love it! I lost four pounds since I moved. I’m 121 pounds — my goal is 100 pounds.”
That would be unhealthy for Bynes, who stands 5-foot-7.
Amanda responded to this story on Twitter, writing: “I’m suing every blog saying I was kicked out of gymnastics. What is wrong w/ u people? What would u do if u found fake stories about u?” She also threatened to sue anyone who wrote that she had a mental illness too. So… famewhore it is.
Something nice: I’m glad she’s no longer in LA, where it seemed like she was living out of her deathtrap car and she kept getting pulled over for driving recklessly. I feel like pedestrians in LA are better off with Amanda in NYC. And now that she’s in NYC, we’ve gotten into the realm where the argument can be made that she’s mostly just a danger to herself. Weren’t her parents more involved in her situation when she was in LA? Is anyone trying to look after her at all while she’s in New York?
Oh, as for the situation with wig… Amanda claimed that she had like an evil twin with red hair who was going around and making her look bad. Seriously, she tweeted that.

Looks like a roach to me. Marijuana is good for many illnesses and is lovely for recreation. However, it is NOT good for those suffering with certain mental illnesses. I have a bipolar friend who was advised to give it up and is doing much better (less paranoia and anxiety) since doing so. I am a supporter of legalization, but this girl should not be smoking. It’s very sad.

Can I also say that I hate when crackheads get sympathy for their mental illness? She probably has drug induced psychosis, which can usually be relieved by discontinuing recreational drugs.
I’m sure I’ll get jumped on by posters who sympathize with “the poor addicts who need help because addiction is a mental illness,” but get back to me when you’re a victim of the cracked out behavior. I realize mental illness is exacerbated by drugs and that this girl may have an underlying issue, but plenty of people address those issues with the help of therapy and the appropriate pharmaceuticals.
This makes me kinda sad 🙁 I used to love the amanda show.
same here. I also really dug “What I Like About you”. She was the disney star I rooted for the most. In her interviews she always seemed funny, sane, grounded with a healthy self image. Her parents were very active with her management and seemed to have their shit together and her best interests in mind…it seemed all very genuine. What/who happened to this girl? Management? Drugs? Bad boyfriend/friends? She doesn’t seem to hang out with anyone ever.

I think she was a Nickelodeon kid. Anyway, one thing I usually remember from her older interviews is how much she was bullied in school. She would talk about the comments, from bullies, about her weight and even stated they would physically assault her. I’m not this is why she’s behaving like this today, but I think things were a little rougher when she was younger.

I agree. Britney should thank the Lord she has a family that loves her and stepped in. Her dad gave up his business to step up and take care of her and her affairs.

My kids used to watch the Amanda Show. I always thought she was such a sweet girl. I hope her story ends well and not tragically.

After I saw how dilated Bynes’ pupils were in a recent selfie she took of herself, I am 100% convinced she does coke or meth somewhat regularly. I’m leaning more towards meth because it is one of the only drugs that can make a person susceptible to experiencing permanent psychosis similar to schizophrenia. (This is why Meth scares me, like whoa.)
Extascy makes the pupils dialate like crazy too. It usually has a mix of all the hard stuff…
My husband’s a former prosecutor and he said one day on the docket there was a familiar name from high school, but he figured it probably wasn’t the same person. When the woman was called, it was the same person. She was a married nurse with 3 kids who got hooked on Meth and was arrested for prostitution (she needed to pay for her habit). My husband said he would never have recognized her she looked so horrible and old.
I hope that’s not what Amanda is on.
Ugh, yes, my best friend is a state prosecutor, and she says the Meth cases she sees are just awful because of the physical deterioration of the addicts. I also took a college course on behavioral effects of psychoactive drugs–meth was the one drug our drug-friendly teacher discouraged. Nasty stuff.
I had an employee who got hooked on meth and the change in her personality was shocking. She went from being sweet and vivacious to argumentative, dishonest and completely entitled.
She was young (20) and I suspect a large part of why she started using was because she wanted to lose weight. Addiction set in real fast. Too sad. Meth is a destroyer.
My brother is a parole officer and said that when someone is addicted to meth, you can basically write them off because they’re gone for good. People can and do come back from alcohol, Rx drugs, and coke addiction, but rarely meth. It’s awful.

Even at 121 she’s only bmi 19, which is underweight
True, but I tend to think ALL celebrities fudge their weight by a good 10-15 pounds. So in reality she may be closer to 130-135, which seems fine for her height.
18.5 is the cut off for healthy weight with bmi, under is underweight. I’ve lived most of my twenties at 19 and looked normal, thin but not underweight at all. bmi is a terrible indicator of health though.
Its sad that she says she doesn’t have a metal disorder but claims an eating disorder. They are mental disorders. I had one I’m my teens from like 12-19 so I’m not saying it maliciously.

I used to think she was going to become a really good comedic actress when my daughter would watch her show growing up. Now she looks like she’s losing her mind, and rapidly at that. Is there no one to help this girl at all? Sad.

Yeah her being in NYC is good for the pedestrians of LA, but its really bad for Amanda as a pedestrian in NYC….I think while everyone is waiting for her to overdose on something she will die being hit by a cab while wandering around in the road with a shirt on her head.

Ugh, this is sad. I liked her as a comedic actress, her films/tv shows were entertaining. Which is all I ask for in sitcoms and romantic comedies.
I think it’s too easy to blame the parents, it’s next to impossible to intervene in someone’s life when they’re over 18 and have enough money. If she’s ill, they can’t be blamed at all and if she’s simply an addict or an a**hole, they might have a part in this but that doesn’t mean they can just step in and stop her. I hope someone’s at least trying though. She looks rough.

I agree that drug abuse can mimic mental illness. Some people use drugs to cope with stress, then find themselves addicted, then their erratic, drug-induced behavior looks like mental illness. Because of this, they are often put on psycho-tropic meds that keep them perpetually off-kilter, albeit in a better state than when actively abusing recreational drugs.I think this is what happened to Britney. I think if she got off ALL medication & detoxed completely, mentally as well as physically, she’d be better than ever.

I hope she gets better…and actually, pot really helped me get over my eating disorder (10 years and counting!!! woohoo!!!).
