Taylor Swift pitched a fit about John Mayer’s appearance at the ACM Awards

I have never found John Mayer attractive. At all. He ALWAYS reminded me of the try-hard poseur boys in college who try to act like they’re sensitive poets but really they were just standard-issue date-rapey bros. My knee-jerk revulsion towards Mayer always made me harshly judge the women that dated him too. How could they kiss that face without vomiting? That’s a real question. What was wrong with Katy Perry that she could let THAT on top of her? What was wrong with Jennifer Aniston that she took THAT back after he publicly dumped her? GROSS.

And don’t get me started on Taylor Swift. I think I gave her more sympathy initially about Mayer just because she was SO young when they were fooling around. He was in his 30s, and I think Swifty was all of 18 or 19. But in the years that followed, I kind of think Swifty might have played Mayer a little bit. She got the last laugh – she wrote a song about how he’s a gigantic douche, after all, and John was so irritated that he whined about it to Rolling Stone. Whatever happened between them, God only knows, but I’m sure it involved tea parties, crochet, cuddlefesting, douchebaggery and LIES. So Mayer and Swifty ended years ago… I think, like, 2010. Is she still pissed off about it? Us Weekly says yes.

Sunday, April 7, should have been a great night for Taylor Swift. She was nominated in five categories at the Academy of Country Music Awards, she had a gorgeous scene-stealing gold dress for the red carpet, and she was scheduled to perform with Keith Urban and Tim McGraw — a star she once sang about in her first-ever single, “Tim McGraw.”

But things took a turn when the “22” singer discovered that John Mayer was slated to take the stage first at the Las Vegas event, sources reveal in the April 29 issue of Us Weekly, on stands now.

One insider says Swift, 23, put on “a stink” about her ex-boyfriend’s performance. “She said she had to go on earlier than him,” the source tells Us of the songwriter, who had a brief romance with Mayer in 2010 and later wrote the song “Dear John” about him.

The country star got her way in the end, but a second insider says Swift “was just really bitter that night” — especially after she didn’t win anything.

“After she didn’t win anything, she bailed on a postshow dinner party,” explains a second insider. While Swift’s rep calls the story “absolutely false,” the insider adds that “John just being there irked her.”

What I find more interesting than the Mayer stuff (which is admittedly fascinating to me for some reason) is that Swifty truly gets bummed out when she doesn’t win anything. Swifty’s been on a losing streak all of this year. My favorite was when Adele won Best Song at the Golden Globes and the camera panned to Swifty’s sad little bitchface, which is totally better/more preferable than her OMIGOSH I WON surprise-face. Anyway, as for the Mayer stuff… it kind of sounds reasonable to me that Swifty would have demanded to go on before Mayer…? That doesn’t sound like a breakup-angst thing, it sounds like a young artist who can pull strings and make demands at an awards show, and like she wanted to go on before a “minor” artist like Mayer.

so i guess all of her”omg I’m so surprised I won” speaches are fake. She clearly expects to win, otherwise she would be more gracious.

    • Hakura says:

I’m a little surprised the winners aren’t informed ahead of time for the sake of being prepared. Not as interesting to see them fake surprise, opposed to real surprise, but they could avoid looking like a sore loser for the cameras, already knowing.

He has the stellar complexion of a junkie.

  3. NerdMomma says:

Your description of John Mayer is spot-on, and I am totally with you in thinking less of women who date him. He is nasty, there is no excuse.

    • Lemony says:

      +1

    • Lemony says:

I agree wholeheartedly with the description! I knew too many of those fake sensitive musician types too, & knew too many girls who ended up in their douche-y bed with them. Yuck.

I’ve enjoyed listening to some of his music a few random times, but cannot bear the sight of him.

      • Becky1 says:

+2! It’s funny-I was just saying the same thing about John Mayer to my husband. He came up in conversation because we were out at dinner and “Your Body is a Wonderland” came on. That song in particular makes me cringe.

      • Hakura says:

@Lemony – “I’ve enjoyed listening to some of his music a few random times, but cannot bear the sight of him.“.

Same here. After seeing & reading about what a disgusting person he is, I was torn about just deleting his albums from my ipod. I really like both, so it’s like… do I deprive myself of music I like based on my opinion of the artist’s attitude/lifestyle/idiocy, or just keep it & not tell anyone?

How anyone has ever found him attractive is totally beyond me. I can only assume he has some sort of ‘dark magic’ that makes him come across as ‘charming’ when hitting on someone. *shudder* If he ever ‘hit on’ me, I’d hit him.

    LOL. Amazing.

      Yes!!

    • Lemony says:

      LOL!!!!!
Also, is just my screen or does her hair look gray?

      • whipmyhair says:

In her early days she had cute blonde curly hair. Now she has flat ash blonde hair. Which to me is like a non colour.

The question I have is why is her hair in a ponytail? And how much did she pay to get a hair dresser to do it? A ponytail isn’t a red carpet look in my book

Kaiser, I agree with everything you said about John Mayer. I wouldn’t let him sit next to me in a public place, much less get anywhere near the vicinity of my biscuit.

  7. Joiq says:

Love John’s music, but maybe now he realizes that he just shouldn’t date girls way too young for him. Taylor has the classic case of being very bitter, but who knows. If I were in her position who’s to say I wouldn’t pull strings and do what she did. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!

  8. Ms.Smurf says:

I’m right with you, Kaiser. Every time I look at his face, I’m reminded of the fact that he said his c*ck was a David Duke c*ck and that it was racist……I can unsee and unhear some douchebaggery from a male/female celebrity to like their work, but not this. I’m guessing because his high point of fame was with JA that it wasn’t really reported. I only know about it because I was reading this site when he said it. Idiot.

  9. LAK says:

Or She’s on stage first, she can skip the rest of the award show including camera panning to her throughout HIS performance to see her reactions.

  10. Emily says:

There were all sorts of blind items about how she got pregnant or he pressured her into some back door action but really how would anyone know such things…..

  11. flutters says:

But John Mayer wasn’t even in the same venue as Swifty. He was playing with Brad Paisley in the Orleans Arena which was the 2nd site for the ACM Awards, and Swifty performed at the MGM Grand which was the main site for the ACMs. Why would she care about performing before John Mayer? They weren’t going to be able to show her reaction shots anyway.

I can see where Swifty may have demanded John Mayer’s performance be in the other venue but if he was performing with Brad Paisley that was probably going to happen anyway. So I don’t know if I believe this story.

I do totally believe Swifty was bummed she didn’t win any awards. But how she feels entitled to country awards when her music is pop is beyond me. She and her team definitely pulled out the stops as usual for their awards campaign. They sent voters free vinyl copies of her album, as if that was supposed to make people forget it’s not a country album.

  12. Dawn says:

This goes to show how immature she is. You don’t get to be the boss of everything! He is no prize and a male ho for sure but he does make some good music. Grow up Taylor you are going to have to be around lots of people you don’t like, it is just the way of the world, you just smile girl and move on. It is not like they asked you to eat dinner with him.

    • TheOneAndOnly says:

Everything about swifty is completely fake and manufactured, including her awful toy music. She’s a marketing creation. Despite his douchiness Mayer is actually a respected guitarist; check out his cover of Bold as Love by Jimi Hendrix on youtube pretty good; Swifty could never play it, if she has even heard of Hendrix or understands his influence.

    • Diana says:

@Dawn: Right! When I read this I thought, ‘well I don’t think that’s very mature of little swifty’. It doesn’t matter if she’s the bigger star you don’t do tantrums just cuz you wanna go first than someone. Grow up already!

  13. MissMoody says:

Well if you’re going to date every John, Jake and Harry in Hollywood, be prepared to run into them from time to time. It happens

  14. carebearvancouver says:

There is nothing better than describing John Mayer as rapey lol. This is why I am sure Jennifer Aniston has a drinking problem! As much as Swifty is annoying Id always insist on being on stage first too, less likely to be infected..

    • Ms.Smurf says:

She didn’t have a problem being infected w/ his David Duke. Honestly, Swifty, though very calculating and manipulative is very immature. That’s something I’d expect my thirteen year old sister to do….she’s an adult. It’s not like they’re working together. They’d be allegedly playing at the same venue. All she’d have to do is wait in her room or whatever, until he’s done playing. Easy.

  15. Thiajoka says:

If you don’t want to run into exes in the office, don’t date within the office. Golden rule for everyone.

  16. Amy says:

Am I the only one who gets a Mean Girl vibe from this show? I have never really bought her Nice Girl act–especially when she wouldn’t shut up about how Joe Jonas dumped her via a 30 second phone call (which was a few years ago when people were still fawning over her and I just didn’t get why people loved her so much). I thought it was tacky of Jonas to do that, but even more tacky for Taylor to publicize it and to just go on and on about it. I do not think I would get along with Taylor in real life, she just seems so catty! I do enjoy a few of her songs but that’s it.

  17. Vixenella says:

Why was Mayer at a country awards show??

  18. mebee says:

Ugh he is such a tool. Both of those suits are repugnant, particularly the purple one.
