Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony request four nannies for the twins

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are having a quick weekend away with their twins when he performs in Cartagena, Columbia. They are traveling together as family supposedly because they love each other and not because the publicity would help dispel divorce rumors.

Given their extremely over the top lifestyle, they need a large staff for the three days they’ll be in Columbia to help them feel at home. Their entourage requires 10 armored cars and includes four nannies and four bilingual assistants to the nannies:

On their list of needs? 10 armored cars, 4 nannies, 4 assistants to the nannies (who, upon request, have to be bilingual and college educated), one enormous security detail that has already been staking out Cartagena since last week, one chef “de su confianza” (in case someone tries to poison them?) who will be required to collaborate with the hotel’s staff chef in order to come up with tasty treats for the family, and one entire floor of the Hotel Caribe in Cartagena.

One might ask how long Marc and Jenny are planning on staying in Colombia, since it looks like they’ll be traveling with a small army. You’ll all be very happy to know that they will be spending a grand total of…3 days in Cartagena.

Jennifer Lopez seems to come from the Mariah Carey School of Divadom that dictates that the more people she has to do every small thing for her the better. Maybe this happy couple needs four nannies and 10 armored cars so they don’t have to travel together though. They might have separate staff so that they don’t have to deal with each other except for photo ops and don’t even have to talk to the same people. Can you believe these two have been together four and a half years? How much longer do you think they’ll last? Then again, maybe spoiled spendaholics stick together. It’s doubtful anyone else would put up with them.

the country Colombia is spelled with an “o”, not a “u” like the university.

Hilarious and ridiculous all at the same time. I understand security of course but the rest of it is selfish. I think J Lo being out of the spotlight needs some attention and she feels this is her wierd way to get it… they should just go away like spencer and heidi and do us all a favor.. REALLY!! what a bunch of wierdos

  3. Larissa says:

I was confused at first, but then I realized that you were talking about Colombia! And…
Colombia being Colombia I do agree that a higher level of security is required, not that I think they would be a target for the FARC but Kylie Minogue had loads of things stolen during her stay there, so we never know!
Four nannies? Ok, maybe they will be working in shifts, so it´s still reasonable! But four bilingual assistants?
I don´t think that would be necessary, just one to each pair of nannies would do the job! I don´t think it would be that difficult to find bilingual nannies in first place, but that´s just me! But aren´t these two supposedely bilingual? so why they need bilingual assistants?
    lol
But why bring the babies if they are not even spending time with them? It is just 3 days ffs! If this is just a publicity stunt to reinsure their marriage to the public eye, at least do not involve the babies in it! Is just wrong!

Unless both of these parents must be away from the children for any given time, I can see having someone there to care for the twins but only if they BOTH HAVE to be away. Otherwise, it’s just parents putting themselves before their children. I don’t like to judge because I am not in their shoes but if average joes can function without all this excess baggage, so can they.

    Jenny from the block indeed.

what’s wrong with four bilingual nannies? That would cut 4 translators off the payroll.

Agreed that seems like a lot of hassle to put everyone through. From the maid who has to pack/unpack. To the stylist who’ll need to prepare a dozen outfits x4. To the make-up valet. To the 10 armored cars drivers who’ll mostly stand around, I would imagine. Most of all, that is alot of unnecessary for whomever will be taking care of those young babies. Traveling that far with two young children will be worth it for no one. If putting up a front is the reason; i suspect a trip like this will only nail another nail…

I have wealthy friends in Columbia who fear kidnapping constantly. Everyone of any means whatsoever are targets of terrorists who kidnap and hide people for ransom all the time. It is a lot like the wild wild west so I am not at all surprised that these two are traveling with a large crew. Safety in numbers. To do less would be irresponsible, really, so highly doubt this is a publicity ploy or a “Diva Demand.” Trust me on this one. Have a good day, everybody!

    It’s COLOMBIA.

  9. Sue D. Nimm says:

@RReedy and Baholicious: true, but for THREE DAYS?! Not counting, make-up people etc. that’s at least 22 people, who fly over and drive around. I’m not an expert but that can’t be good for the enviroment.

  10. czarina says:

If it is that risky, why take the children in the first place?

  11. Codzilla says:

They look like the picture of happiness in that header pic.

  12. Baholicious says:

Sorry Sue for the misunderstanding, I was just reinforcing the correct spelling of the place, not its danger as a destination. It is a dangerous place but I wouldn’t think bilingual assistants are really going to be much of a help in terms of personal security.

Lopez has vanity furs up the wazoo so I expect consideration of the environment is not a priority of hers.

  13. Pam says:

Do you really need a degree to be a babysitter? Do either of the parents have a degree? Really?

  14. Finally!! I’ve found my calling!

I’ve spent four years earning my degrees at a top University. . . only to find out I’m now qualified to change poopy diapers and be berated by JLo, in English and Spanish! Huzzah! (Honestly, I think my six years of Spanish will go a lot farther than hers.)

  15. Baholicious says:

Pam, it seems nowadays one needs a degree for a paper route.

i spent a month in Bogota some years ago. guests of the hotel were discouraged from leaving the hotel after sundown. the front door was literally locked for our protection. hence i understand the need for security.

lovely country and lovely people though. y la comida…ay! que rica.

  18. kate says:

she reminds me of the cowardly lion in these photos.

  19. Alison says:

    what losers. sad, sorry losers.

  20. FromColombia says:

I live in Colombia, more specifically in Cartagena and people here dont fear of “being kidnapped”. Not because there isnt such a problem in our country but in Cartagena that is not a common issue. Its located in the coast and I can assure you one of the safest cities in the country (unlike the capital, Bogota). Plus in the area where theyll be staying its is very very safe. I understand why you would think that and given that is Colombia (and you probably just know its bad history) and they are celebrities I understand their high level security.

Columbian press reporting Marc came alone. Maybe the babies have colds (better not to fly). They said Marc just asked for a very warm room, a vaporizer, and lots of fruits and veggies. They like traveling with relatives like Jen’s sister; they watch each other’s babies. In Europe last year, they didn’t have to hire anyone.
