Anna Wintour banned Kris Jenner, Real Housewives from Met Gala

This ^^ is the now-infamous Anna Wintour BURN on Kim Kardashian. Anna Wintour dislikes Kim Kardashian and everything Kardashian stands for. Wintour has snubbed Kim time and time again. But Wintour LOVES Kanye West and when Kanye asked Anna’s permission to bring Kim along as his Met Gala date, Anna allowed it to happen begrudgingly. But Anna will not allow Kim Kardashian to even appear on Vogue.com, so Kim was thoughtfully cropped out of the photo on Vogue’s Met Gala slideshow. Which is still amazing to me, that Wintour would carry the grudge that far. According to Radar, however, Wintour is still trying to hold the Met Gala invite list to some kind of high standard. And that involves NO Kardashian-Jenners (except for Kim) and NO Real Housewives:

“One Kardashian is enough!”

That was the blunt edict Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour delivered after learning Kim Kardashian‘s momager, Kris Jenner, enquired about attending last week’s A-List Met Costume Institute Gala, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“Anna approves every star who enters and although she finally relented on Kim, she drew the line at Kris, who was desperate to attend,” a source said. “Anna wants a parade of stars at the gala, not a parade of reality stars!”

This is not the first time Wintour, 63, has nixed a member of the Kardashian clan attending the event: as RadarOnline.com previously revealed, she had banned the 32-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star from the 2012 event.

But tensions between the pair have soothed, thanks to Kardashian’s relationship with rapper West, who is a favorite of the magazine queen. Wintour even invited the expectant couple over for dinner at her New York City home the night before the Gala and hand-picked Kardashian’s floral Givenchy dress that was widely criticized, prompting a side-by-side photo comparison of Kardashian and Robin Williams, the source said.

The insider also revealed the famed editrix rebuffed an approach by the The Real Housewives of New York stars Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, LuAnn de Lesseps, Heather Thomson, Sonja Morgan and Aviva Drescher, who wanted to buy a table at fashion’s biggest night.

“Anna would never, ever allow a group of Real Housewives to rub shoulders with fashion’s elite,” the source said.

[From Radar]

I can see banning almost all of those Real Housewives… except for Carole Radziwill…? She’s the widow of John Kennedy Jr.’s first cousin! I thought Conde Nast was all about the Kennedy legacy in any and every form? But yeah, the rest of the RHONYs can suck it for all Wintour cares. As for Kris Jenner… did Kris Jenner realistically think she had a shot at coming to the Met Gala? The only way any of those Kardashian-Jenner girls will get to go the Met Gala is if they are the plus-one of someone Anna actually likes. Like, if Grace Coddington invited Kylie Jenner, then sure. That might happen. But why would Grace do that?

I went to Vogue .com the day after the Mett Ball was held and their feature inside the Met Gala had huge ass picture of Kim, it looked she was staring up when Kanye when he performed.

Anna doesn’t give a shit about Kanye when he went in 2012 he couldn’t bring a plus one which would have been Kim, unless he wanted to pay for a table over 250 thousand

The only reason he was allowed this year with Kim is because he performed and his lover the designer of Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci was a co chair for Costume Institute benefit, the Met Gala and convicted everyone that Kanye was a good chioce to perform, once it was agreed Anna couldn’t unilaterally decide he couldn’t bring a date.

    • manya says:

Im sorry.. but even if Kim will attend the MET only once.. the MET just lost its exclusiveness .. so yea, bad part from Anna

      • Isabella says:

I agree! The Met no longer seems cool or the place to aspire to be at.
Gosh, Goop doesn’t like it, and as elitist as she may be, I can see why she wouldn’t enjoy it.

    • Liv says:

Please! She just cut her out! Never thought Anna Wintour would crack me up! 😀

    • Viv says:

I wish she HAD cropped her out of every pic! Unfortunately there are three galleries of the Met Gala on Vogue and she is in a picture with Kanye in one of them, so she wasn’t totally eliminated, but including the above one of Kanye alone was a sweet move.
So Anna wasn’t all that ruthless as we wish she would have been.

  2. Faye says:

I did laugh at Kim being Kropped out of the photo on the Vogue site, but Anna Wintour’s being a little closing the barn door after the horse has already fled-ish, isn’t she? She let Kim Kardashian in; the whole thing has turned into celeb fast; the Met Ball just isn’t what it used to be. Once Kim is in, you can’t really pretend to have standards anymore.

    • lady mary. says:

exactly , no point in exorcisng Met Gala once you let the devil in ,it makes no differrence if she chopped kim off or she might have zoommed on her ass for laughs in the pics ,u let one kardashian in ,the rest will infiltrate withh or without your approval Anna, srsly why does she favour man baby Kanye ?is he the next “puff diddy” of fashion or smthn ?

      • Kay says:

She never invited Kim she allowed her to come as Kanye’s plus one. If kris was to attend she would have had to be invited and I think that the difference. She isn’t inviting any of them

    • bluhare says:

The Met Gala has been a celeb fest for a few years now, hasn’t it? Up until the last couple of years, the exclusivity level was high, but my guess is publicity (and the accompanying revenue) may have had something to do with Anna loosening the reins. But that photo of Kimye is the best burn ever!

      • Faye says:

Yes, the Met Ball has been slowly degenerating for years, IMO. The inclusion of KK was just the nail on the Koffin :).

  3. Gossip Garl says:

The KUTKanye pic is epic..Finally smiling like he KNEW she would get cut out of the pic,WHAHAHAHHA

    • Miffy says:

I know!!! The ONLY shot of them ‘together’ where he doesn’t look like he wants to punch her… so you think the photographer let him in on the editing plans?

  4. booger says:

Christ, Wintour. Be the bigger person. Allow whoever can pay to attend and donate the proceeds to charity.

The Met Ball isn’t some blue blood, aristocratic haven. Plenty of other people there- male and female alike- who used sex to get where they needed to be. The only difference between them and KK is she’s open about it. And no, I’m not a KK fan or apologist (I have no opinion of her) but she’s still human. Why do people encourage Wintour’s sense of elitism?

    • Lamb says:

Kim is not open about the fact that she’s famous because she has a sex tape. She thinks she’s famous because she “works so hard.” I don’t necessarily like Anna Wintour and her elitism, but I support anyone willing to try and knock the Kardashians down. In that case, Anna is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

      • teehee says:

I have to agree with this— it may be less for a charity but it will be more for humanity as a whole to not have the kardashians all over the place. I can;t believe they are being recognized at all, but at this point its for jousting only. Unfortunately they still profit off of our hate of them, so… the less publicity the better!

      • booger says:

Tha Kardashians are hardly the first people who are famous for being famous. People Vogue celebrated in its prime- Babe Paley and other socialites- hardly “worked hard” for their status. They slept with the right people and married rich.

      • duncecap says:

thank you. I feel this obvious truth is not as obvious as it should be.

    • lucy says:

Wintour curated the guest list, as is her prerogative, and showed grace allowing her pal Kanye to bring a guest of his choosing.

But guests of invitees do not have dibs on being included in official photos! Perhaps being cropped out of an official shot may have been intended as an insult by Wintour (or not) may (or may not) have been taken as an insult by Kim or Kanye, is appropriate editing, and is definitely not a bullying move — just a territorial one.

Wintour’s makeup looks great here, but her attire and her very very very tired helmet bob n’ bangs need an overhaul (as does the magazine!). If she was KK’s stylist for the Ball, it was a cunning move effectively showcasing several of the reasons why KK is not a model or a fashionplate.

That said, I disagree with Wintour’s choices of including clowns like Beyonce, Kanye, Miley, and more, and am not impressed with Anna’s style sense either.

As for Kim, I don’t think someone without shame or scruples can feel humiliation. And I don’t think she’s bright enough to understand her very limited useless place in society, nor that she and her disgusting family are laughing stocks, and not admired.

  5. crab says:

Anna Wintour actually hand picked that dress for Kim to wear?? OMG that is hysterical! She knew it was ugly and it was another way of burning Kim! Haha way to go Anna!!

    • Lia says:

I think she picked that dress for her as a way to say f u. And Kim and kanye couldn’t do anything except accept it an wear it. They had to see if was horrific

    • gogoGorilla says:

I hated Kim’s dress, but I also hate Anna’s dress. FUG.

Still, the whole kropping thing made me snicker for an hour.

    • jaye says:

I thought the same thing! I laughed out loud when I read that. If she had to invite Kardashian she was going to get a dig in while doing so. I think Anna Wintour is vile, but I’ll give her a slow hand clap for that one.

    • Miffy says:

Anna Wintour is the deity that every mean girl prays to.
Wouldn’t you die to see the K&K’s faces when she suggested the dress? Cue Kanye kicking the ever-loving sh*t out of Kim’s swollen ankles under the tables as she tried to suggest that looking like an 80’s couch wasn’t that great.

      • Sassy says:

If Anna suggested the dress that Kim wore she may have been exacting her revenge in a subtle way, knowing that Kim would lap up the attention. Anna then suggested the most hideous creation possible.

    • bluhare says:

      I think so too. Whoa.

      Nuclear Wintour indeed!!

      • HK9 says:

Anna picked that frock??!!!????? OMG. Now it allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll makes sense. She will always be Nuclear Wintour in my heart. Ahhhhhhhhhhhahaaaaaaaaaaaaagaaaaaaaaaagaaaaaaaaaamooohooohooohaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(Vincent Price laugh 🙂 )

    • jwoolman says:

If Wintour really did pick out that couch for Kim to wear – I actually feel sorry for Kim. That was really mean. Of course, if Kim had any sense of style, she would have politely thanked Wintour for her help and then worn something that actually looked good on her. But she doesn’t and didn’t. It’s still mean.

    • Reece says:

She picks the designers to go with the celebrities. Which is why Kim got a dress from Kanye’s friend because she wasn’t actually invited. She’s a +1.
I’m guessing, also, why Kate Upton ended up in a Von Furstenberg wrapped tent dress.

    • Sarah says:

I didn’t know that Wintour picked KK’s hideously ugly dress. Now it’s all clear to me. Like the Emperor’s new clothes, AW picked an outfit that would make people point at KK and laugh. Well played, Ms. Wintour, well played!

    • MsTaken says:

IKR? I LOVE that AW chose KK’s dress! It was hideous!

  6. janie says:

    Good grief!

  7. Newsgirl628 says:

“I can see banning almost all of those Real Housewives… except for Carole Radziwill…? She’s the widow of John Kennedy Jr.’s first cousin!”

A TRUE Kennedy wouldn’t be caught dead on a reality show. I read somewhere that Caroline Kennedy wasn’t too thrilled when Carole joined RHONY.

    • hadleyb says:

The Kennedy’s really have no room to talk with their shady ways, corruption, getting away with murder, and what they did to the daughter many years ago — giving her a lobotomy at age under 25 ?

      Disgusting.

      • Amy says:

What happened with Rosemary was undeniably tragic, but it was a different time. Thank goodness.

I was also surprised that Radziwill was left off the list.

It may be Anna’s show, and I guess she has the right, but it seems mean to me to go to such lengths as to kut out Kim

      • Isabella says:

        Omg!

    • Sassy says:

Carole also wrote a book a few years back. She was from nowhere, wrong side of the tracks, etc. Her only claim to fame is that she married a Kennedy cousin, the son of Lee Radziwill. She didn’t have positive thoughts toward Lee. I think she is cashing in on her Kennedy Konnection!

      • tmbg says:

I don’t know – she had a successful career at ABC and even won an Emmy. Diane Sawyer is/was a friend. She’s legit and she wouldn’t have to rely on her Kennedy connection if she wanted to get back into journalism.

She was dealt a horrid blow when her best friend (Carolyn, John’s wife), John and Anthony all died within weeks of each other. If she enjoys doing this show, more power to her.

PS – From everything I’ve read, Lee is one frigid woman. I would not have wanted her as my MIL! :-O

  8. TheyPromisedMeBeer says:

Just because it’s Kim Kardashian doesn’t make Anna Wintour any less of a mean girl.

    • booger says:

Word. If she has so many parties willing to spring tens of thousands (and even hundreds of thousands) for tickets and tables, why wouldn’t she take advantage of it and, as I posted prior, donate the proceeds to charity?

These aren’t world leaders Anna is picking and choosing to be ambassadors for her gala- they’re actors, singers, and models. She needs to get over herself.

    • Erinn says:

AGREED! I was just about to comment on how Wintour is such a mean girl.

Why do we celebrate this kind of woman? Just because she doesn’t like the Kardashian’s? She’s probably a talented lady, but her attitude really sucks.

      • hoya_chick says:

Erinn, not to thread hijack or anything but Happy Endings was canceled. I wept and will now get all the DVDs. How are you holding up with the news? Ha.

I love that the photo isn’t completely cropped. You can still see her creepy floral hands hahahaha. It’s mean but also very funny.

    • bluhare says:

As a poster said a while back “The Devil Wears Prada” wasn’t exactly fiction.

Anna Wintour rules fashion, and whether she’s mean girl or not, it’s her deal and she can handle it her way. Besides, she’s always been that way; Kim isn’t exactly getting special treatment.

  9. paola says:

I am on Anna Wintour’s side on this one. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and let people know where they stand. The Kardashian klan may think they own everyone and everything but becoming famous for having a trashy reality show and releasing adult movies doesn’t make you worthy of being on Vogue. If Wintour allowed that..well than anybody could end up on Vogue and it would become just a magazine like all the others. Kardashians represents the fame and the glory of being famous without having a talent. Vogue in my opinion is still a magazine that portraits people you can dream of for their beauty or talents. Fake tan, tacky clothes, porn movies, plastic surgery is not something you can allow on the cover of Vogue, or at least not all at the same time.

    • booger says:

It has become a magazine like every other- courtesy of Anna herself- who has all but homogenized it into any other tabloidy, aspiring movie star glutted “fashion” magazine. She’s no Diana Vreeland or Grace Mirabella.

      • paola says:

I am italian and i used to read Vogue Italia and the editor in chief (Franca Sozzani) wouldn’t put reality stars on Vogue ever.

      • booger says:

We’re talking about American Vogue and Anna Wintour here.

Still, re: Vogue Italia, people made a stink when Toccara from America’s Next Top Model (a reality show) was featured in an editorial. Not the cover, but prominently featured in the magazine all the same.

      • Dana says:

        Amen to that.

    • DT says:

But being a former wrestler, paid escort to George Clooney is OK?

      • Dawn says:

Yes because the former wrestler has something KK will never have have and that is class. I’ve never seen a sex video of Stacy but I have Kim (well seconds of it) and you can’t compare the two because of it. Kim works “hard” alright.

      • bluhare says:

Not sure Stacy has “class”, but she isn’t a laughing stock.

      • BRE says:

agreed, like Miley is A list?

      • Guest says:

Yes, nothing says class like Stacy Miss Hancock Keibler. My favorite classy videos of Stacy Hancock Keibler’s are so hard to choose — what with all the overwhelming classiness of her numerous Bra and Panties Matches and Schoolgirl Spanking Matches.

And of course it was pretty classy straddling guys and women in the ring for the whole Stacy Keibler WWE cheesy porn experience. And what may be classiest of all was when Stacy Hancock Keibler got into the wrestling ring and rubbed herself slowly back and forth against the wrestling ropes – her signature move for the better part of a decade.

Yep, Nothing screams class like Stacy Miss Hancock Keibler, WWE cheesy porn ‘wrestler’. LOL!

  10. lem says:

seriously this just makes me think wintour is such a b*tch. i’m not fan of the kardashians but this is ridiculous. you’re mean-girling a pregnant woman. it seems wintour’s problem with the kardashians is that they’re low class, but wintour’s actions show she’s the least classy of them all. grow the f*ck up.

    • Hubbahun says:

      ^^This^^

Wintour is a bitch, end of story. Cutting out Kim in the picture is nothing short of bullying, no matter what you think of the Kardashians – for the record, I’m not a huge fan of Kim but this was beyond petty.

      • hadleyb says:

Bullying? I hardly think so. She isn’t facing Anna every day at work or school.

I will not put a cropped out picture in the same category as someone who wants to commit suicide over the abuse of bullying.

      • Hubbahun says:

@hadleyb I take your point certainly, but there are degrees of bullying and this definitely on the scale – very schoolgirlish and petty. And as someone who has experienced the worst kind of bullying, both as a child and as an adult, I know that it often starts with something small like this which then escalates. But I’m sure Kim can look after herself I’m just saying that this particular thing was extraordinarily petty. 😀 xx

      • lem says:

to me it is “light” bullying. she apparently invited K&K to dinner the night before, dressed KK, allowed to her to attend, only to then crop her out of all the pictures. to me that is just malicious. if wintour hates her that much, then just don’t allow her to come. if that means Kanye won’t come, then live with that decision.

      • MonicaQ says:

@lem There been plenty of times though myself and my husband have had to “suck it up” and deal with spouses of good friends. His best friend is married to someone that would make Kim Kardashian look like Stephen Hawking and I get a brain cramp thinking about her. In any case, we invite him specifically but inevitably comes the question, “Can (spouse) come too?”. Saying “no” once resulted in a year worth of fall out when she pitched a fit any time he was around us and it became less of a hassle to just invite them both, stick her in the corner with a TV (conveniently turned to Keeping up with the Kardashians) and moving on with the main part of why we gathered up in the first place.

Long rambling aside, I think that’s what Wintour did though I’m not sure *how* good of a friend she is to Kanye or of the situation is an exact mirror.

      • Erinn says:

        @HadleyB
Facing someone every day at work or school is not a staple to whether or not something is actually bullying. That was an extremely ignorant thing to say.

At the end of the day, Wintour was being a bitch. She kisses so many asses some of which are hardly better than Kim. Kim is harmless. She’s not some puppy kicking menace. She purposely cropped her out and picked out that horrid dress for her. She set her up for embarrassment.

I’m getting so sick of the ripping on Kim. Rip on Kris, the one who masterminds most of the idiocy. Kim is a pawn for the most part.

      • goddesslove says:

You are right it is bullying and she is facing her everyday through the media and everyone who constantly cyber hate Kim. If she’s so horrible why do you all spend any time writing hateful messages. Indifference would actually be the opposite of love. This hate you all claim takes the same energy as love. Get off her d*ck already. The bitching and complaining about her is getting so old. Kim Kardashian and the Met Gala…really?

      • bluhare says:

Bullying is becoming a much too overused word, and takes away the true meaning of what it really is. Being cropped out of a photo is an insult, not being bullied.

I was bullied. And it was nothing like this.

      • eileen says:

Bully?? In WHAT universe is this bullying?
KimK knows Anna can’t stand her-has known for years. She had to be a +1 to get in and went willingly knowing Anna can’t stand her.
If KimK was being bullied she’d be in a situation that she can’t choose to be in and around people she has no choice to be around.
Sorry but I have way more dignity and self-respect than to go hang with someone who has outright said to millions she hates me and thinks my family isn’t good enough to attend. But we’re talking about a Kardashian so this is a moot point.

      • MonicaQ says:

@bluhare Right on. It’s become a buzzword like “Extreme” in the 90s. There’s being a bitch and then there’s bullying and one can be mutually exclusive from the other.

    • Michelle says:

I agree. Especially since Anna picked Kim’s dress and invited K & K to dinner the night before. What was that about???

The picture also looks bad cropped.

    • honey says:

So they should put kim k on their best dressed list just to be kind because she is pregnant. You must be kidding me. I doubt anna makes that list anyway. The whole world was laughing at kims dress so there was no way she would appear in vogue. Come on, its not a charity.

      • lem says:

I’m not suggesting that she put her on the best dressed list (that dress was pretty awful although it had potential). I’m just saying that cropping her out of the Met Gala photos that were posted on Vogue is about as classless and b*tchy as one can be.

      • bluhare says:

It was. And it sent a pretty strong message too, no?

    • Mia 4S says:

Oh please. Since when does pregnancy equal suddenly fragile and saintly? This is high fashion, they’re bitches, end of story. The poor, delicate glorified porn star will be fine.

      • booger says:

People who star in porn movies aren’t hurting anyone, for crying out loud. There’s no reason to refrain from being the better person and act civil towards them, unless you just like being mean for the sake of being mean (and likely have serious problems).

Think about the people who attended the Met gala. Taylor Swift. That girl from Twilight whose name I can’t remember. That other girl from Twilight whose name I can’t remember. Wintour’s ball isn’t high fashion- it’s lamewad celebrity PR. As I said, I could understand Wintour’s apprehension if she was entertaining Nobel Prize winners, philanthropists, and people who actually do real work for a living.

      • Mia 4S says:

I mean no offense to porn stars at all, but it’s undeniable that they occupy a certain level of media. You won’t see them at the Oscars for example. She got famous on the back of a sex tape, so I’d put her at that level. She’s done nothing that would raise my opinion beyond that.

      • paola says:

Team Anna….it takes a bitch to put a famewhore in her place.

      • MCraw says:

^^ Thank you! You know what’s weird? The motherhood-whitewashing. Don’t criticize her fashion because she’s pregnant. She’s a porn-star, but she deserves RESPECT because now she’s a mom. Since when do we not draw certain conclusions about people based on their life choices and act accordingly? Kim Kardashian learned REAL QUICK from that photo that the ONLY reason for her presence was Kanye West. Her sexual status with a random man is why she is where she is. And even though that can be said for most of the people in that room, it isn’t made knowledge to the world for profit.

We need more Wintour’s in the world. Maybe things wouldn’t be so bad nowadays if more people got the stone-cold bitch-stare from someone they desperately sought attention from because of their bad behavior lol. I became a woman because of “judgmental bitches” drawing a line at immature behavior.

      • booger says:

Think about the fashion houses who Wintour fosters. It’s no secret that a good many of them are tied to organized crime (Dolce and Gabbana, Versace).

I don’t draw conclusions about people who release sex tapes, become reality stars and sleep their way to the top- even if I’d attended that gala it would be easy for me to ignore them. On the other hand, it is ridiculous that Wintour elevates organizations who aid and abet murder and racketeering as “elite” and “high fashion”, while turning her nose up at “famewhores” for polluting her gala.

    • PinkG says:

Mean-girling a pregnant woman? K-Trash should get a special pass because she is pregnant? NOPE!

      • MCraw says:

So what if they do. No one gets to the top of the mountain without getting their hands dirty. But when those people air out their dirty ways for profit… I can ignore them while being disgusted with their behavior. And so can Wintour.

    • Carolyn says:

The Kartrashians are bullies to each other and other people. Karma’s come back to Kim.

      Team Anna.

Don’t use the pregnancy card. Kim deserves all the backlash that is now coming back at her. That family has been laughing at us all the way to the bank for believing and buying their rubbish for years now. No sympathy for Kim at all.

    • Dana says:

I absolutely agree w/ you. But letting Kimmy drape herself in something horrible would have been even sweeter. And you know Kartrashian taste is beyond hideous. Wintour must have been planning that read for sometime if she had that monstrosity at the ready.

  11. Dawn says:

But she still bent down to Kanye West and because of that she lost my respect. Although she was right none of those so-called “Housewives” belonged there nor did PMK or any of her tricks. Met Gala is supposed to be about class and giving back which none of the above have or do. I am still banning Vogue from my house for a year! Kimmode was there and that was too much for me.

  12. honey says:

Is its a “grudge” as much as Kim K isnt what Anna Wintour wants Vogue or Met Ball to be about. Considering how Kim K when she turned up looked i dont blame Anna Wintour. And Anna is the editor so its her job after all. No one attacks Hugh Hefner for not putting say Amy Poehler or Tina Fey on the cover. I dont know why blogs think Kim is being snubbed. She simply isnt right. Get over it.

    • MonicaQ says:

Thank. You. Anytime you don’t like someone, you’re mean, you’re a bully. People have been not liking people since the beginning of time because–and here’s the most important part–of who they are and their actions. Not everyone is going to poop out rabbits and rainbows to everyone else.

Now if she went up to Kim and said something like, “How many times a day does Kanye have to milk you?” then yeah. Bully basic bitch move and I would not even bat an eye if Kim in a fit backhanded her.

      • jaye says:

“How many times a day does Kanye have to milk you?”

I know this wasn’t the take away of your comment, but I laughed out loud when I read it. I kinda feel bad about it now, because I have defended Kim regarding attacks on her about her weight (I know you weren’t doing that) but it did make me laugh.

    • Dal says:

I couldn’t agree more with this!!

    • pk says:

I agree with honey! They shouldn’t have to lower their standards for the likes of Kim Kardashian.

  13. DanaG says:

So she picked the dress for Kim. Well that explains why is was so ugly. LOL She knew she would be laughed she probably even “suggested” the gloves and shoes. I do agree about the Kardashians they downgrade every event and I can’t see Kim every going again unless she is still with Kanye. Which I have my doubts she will be this time next year.

  14. Micki says:

…”is still trying to hold the Met Gala invite list to some kind of high standard.”

If she had tried harder the likes of Kardashian would have never had hope at all.

  15. Jaded says:

I wonder if Goop will ever appear in Vogue again after her snarky comments about how badly this year’s ball sucked? Anyhoo, it’s just another opportunity for rich famewhores to show off – meh.

  16. Maya Memsaab says:

Am by NO means a Kardashian apologist but the MET Gala in itself seemed nothing more than a glorified E! Party. Hardly any of the celebs came across as bright or imaginative enough to do anything with the theme. I mean, Punk! Think of all the possibilities. Plus the red carpet coverage was cringeworthy (“So, what’s you favourite Punk album?” Ugh). Most of the high profile ones associated with it came across as a dim, poorly-read bunch.

My point is, having KJ or the Real Housewives wouldn’t have lowered the standards. They weren’t high to begin with.

  17. kat says:

Wow, Just Wow!!!…Any way you look at it Anna is just a nasty…Inviting someone to a party and then humiliating them like that, just vile…And Anna really must think much of Kanye as everyone keeps trying to say, Anna just bullied and humiliated the mother of his child…If I was Kanye, I’d be PISSED!!!

  18. TG says:

After readi g the movi g Jolie piece it is nice to know we can all still get our b*tch on! I love love love that Wintour cut Kim out of the best dressed list. You know she was practically forced to allow Kim into the event by Kanye so she got her revenge and it is awesome. I also think Kanye was on on the joke. People keep writing that Kim and Kanye were invited to Anna’s house the night before like it was some I tomato dinner with the 3 of them and that is not true. Fromm understanding she invited a lot of people and very likely Kanye or rather Kim forced her way in. Notice no one else was tweeting and being photographed on their way to Anna Wintour’s house? Kim and Kanye are so tacky and classless.

  19. Baskingshark says:

I really love that cropped pic. They left in just enough of Kim so she (and everyone else) would KNOW she was there originally but got cut out of it.

  20. Deb says:

Hahahaha I just love it that someone said “NO” to a Kartrashian

  21. truthful says:

I’m with Anna all the way, the list needs to be tightened up and revamped.

    no kanye or Kim’s

they said his performance was one angry rant and not the songs that they requested.

    what a waste

  22. Adrien says:

That cropping out of Kim and just showing partially her now infamous ‘sofa’ gown out was intentionally mean. They could have featured a solo Kanye West.

  23. LAK says:

Wait….Edna Mode HAND PICKED KK’s dress that burns all our eyes??? And after she’s burned all our eyes cuts her out of ALL the pictures???!!! Edna Mode is very, very good. *evil laugh*

  24. Dedrie says:

You really really wanna come Kim..? Okay.. enjoy our making it easy for you to be properly dressed, to mix and mingle and appropriately fit right in with our crowd, make deals with an exclusive, extensive list of personal contacts as well..; we are often asked to achieve the impossible and we did, by allowing your attendance, please .. clipped out in official photos, thus.. dead to me, we never want to hear from or speak to this awful person or her nasty family again

  25. Nibbi says:

picture cropping to show exclusion = harsh and nasty !

anna wintour might be all-powerful and kinda mean, but damn, she looks amazing for 63…

  26. dorothy says:

Let’s hope this was the only year she allowed K.K. to come.

    • Miffy says:

Oh no, I hope they bring her back every year. I love the public flexing of Wintour’s uber-bitch-muscle!

I hear next year she’s going to dump a bucket of cow’s blood on her…

  27. Joanna says:

Don’t you think it’s kind of ironic that posters on here support feminism, equality, etc. But it’s ok to pick on someone because they started out laying on their back? seems kind of hypocritical to me. If you’re going to support equality in treatment of women, men, gays and lesbians, you should support equal treatment of people you like and don’t like. Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean it’s okay to be snobby and elitist and consider yourself above them, to the level that you think it’s ok to snub them. you wouldn’t think it was okay to snub someone b/c they are gay, but it’s ok to treat kim like s*it because she rose to infamy via her sex tape? hell, didn’t denise richards work as a an escort at one time? and look at her now, sainted mother! we allowed her to white wash her image. why not kim?

and i don’t even care for Kim, but the level of hate for her is just ridiculous and hypocritical.

    • Miffy says:

What part of feminism means you have to love, like and support every woman?

There’s nothing chauvenistic about disliking someone, especially someone who forces herself into the public eye and leaves herself open to scrutiny.

What I WOULD consider a feminist setback is the rise and admiration of women suck as KK who have made a very privileged living from opening your legs and accomplishing nothing for the rest of your life (besides attention). It’s not even her promiscuity that’s the issue, it’s the portrayal of women as sex objects and nothing more.

So, you want to talk feminism? Let’s talk about why this woman is even discussion worthy to begin with. I find it easier (and quicker) to laugh at her expense than to scrutinise the very real, very sinister message she and her family portray to young women.

      • bluhare says:

I agree, and unfortunately using porn as a method of gaining or maintaining fame is now acceptable (Example A: Farrah Abraham). That’s not about feminism and being proud of being a woman. It’s about making a quick buck (and probably spending it as fast).

      • lem says:

except there are veins of feminism that say it’s empowering for a woman to use her sexuality to her advantage. which is EXACTLY what KK has done. feminism is more fluid and flexible than one hard definition.

edit: i’m not saying that KK is a feminist. far from it. but to attack the use of one’s sexuality to gain power/fame/money as somehow anti-feminist is a misplaced attack in my opinion.

      • bluhare says:

lem: I think we actually think the same, but I don’t think Kim did that tape for empowerment. She did it to get over Paris Hilton. Who of course is the Pioneer of Sex Tapes.

And Farrah Abraham did full on porn with a hired co star, production team, the whole nine yards. For the money. NOT empowerment.

      • lem says:

i agree that neither of them did it for empowerment. however, KK sure as shit used it to her benefit. the girl is worth $40 million and she did one sex tape. i think she’s completely useless but i give her a slowclap for being able to parlay that into such a lucrative career of doing nothing (but by no means would i encourage anyone to emulate her– i think her success is an anomoly).

i just get annoyed with the whole “she’s a porn star therefore she’s so below everyone else” bullshit. she’s a talentless famewhore but i think that can be said for more than half of hollywood and the music industry.

      • bluhare says:

        lem: Again we agree!

What I think is sick is if Kim’s mother got a commission off it.

      • pk says:

        Well said Miffy!

      • pk says:

You can give Kim credit for making a lucrative career out of a sex tape but she paid a price sacrificing her dignity and self respect and that is why people think so low of her. There is a big difference between releasing a crappy movie or song for the paycheck than a sex tape.

    • Nina W says:

You assume she is disliked for her porn star status but there are so many reasons to dislike her beyond her questionable sexcapades. Feminism and supporting equality doesn’t mean blinding supporting all women regardless of their behavior. And People who thrust themselves into the public eye will always be judged for it.

  28. Amy says:

P.S. Anna, the 1990s called and wants your floral dress back. Also this joke back.

  29. Mya says:

Has anyone stopped to think that Kimmy Kim was in on this? I for one like to believe that the dinner they had the night before was Anna just prepping Kanye and Kim for the expected ridicule and giving Kim the option of backing out. Anna more than likely already explained to Kanye and Kim that she would be kropped out because she isn’t an A-list celeb or an invited guest but rather a +1. Anna isn’t a mean girl, she just has a reputation to uphold regardless of far down the gutter her reputation is she is still editor of what is considered to be (by some) a high fashion magazine.

    • bluhare says:

No, no I don’t. I don’t think Kim would willingly let herself be downgraded. Staying home’s a better option than that.

      • Mich says:

Yeah. No way she was in on some kind of planned joke. No one signs up to be humiliated.

Kanye must have been okay with this – otherwise why risk making him so mad? He really comes off like an ass.

  30. Mya says:

  31. Malificent says:

Hmmm… I think I used to have a jumper with the same floral print as Anna’s when I was in kindergarten. In 1972.

  32. EscapedConvent says:

That is a really dumbass-looking dress on Anna Wintour. She is supposed to be the Head Chick of All Fashion, *and* it was their big gala event, &…she wears this thing? I’m puzzled.

But I’ll say something positive about her—her skin looks really good in these pics & I would love to know what she uses.

    • gogoGorilla says:

I know, right??? That dress is totally fug and looks like a partial housecoat/apron that can’t make up its mind what it wants to be. Very bizarre. Also not very punk, so I guess she can’t complain that no one else complied with the theme, either.

  33. Palermo says:

OK. I totally get that she doesn’t like any Kardashian, but what is her great love for Kanye about? Does he have some fabulous quality that I clearly don’t see? He is an illiterate rapper that dresses like an idiot. Anyone?

    • EscapedConvent says:

I agree, Palermo. Why would Wintour even want him there?

I wonder if any photos were taken of Wintour’s face when Kanye didn’t do the agreed-upon set, & instead threw a little hissy fit, dropped his mic, & walked off.

Was she a Wintour of discontent? Sorry.

    • LAK says:

Kanye has spent years and his millions in Paris sucking up to the fashion elite. Anne adores Riccardo Tisci, Kanye’s BFF. Kanye now shows at Paris fashion week which trumps all fashion weeks, irrespective of personal fashion preferences or actual sales. Kanye, whether you like his fashion or music or not, is firmly in with the Parisian fashion crowd.

As for his temper tantrums, that’s nothing compared to the fashion diva tantrums.

    • Sassy says:

Kanye West is not illiterate. He was an English major in college, and his late Mother was an English Professor.

      • Palermo says:

So he just talks that way in his “music” and when he speaks?

      • bridget says:

Anna Wintour goes on kicks where she just loves people, and it’s usually someone that the rest of us just don’t get (Sean Avert, Blakelively)

      • Nibbi says:

if you listen closely to his lyrics, they’re actually pretty witty and intelligent and funny.

people speak with different accents and sometimes affect different styles of speech… it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ‘illiterate.’

it’s an ugly thing to say, really…

  34. The Original G says:

In fact, this Gala was a FLOP. It was ill-planned and had what appeared to be a theme, unachieveable and incomprehensible to not only the attendees but the organizers. When you hear that Wintour selected many of these outfits, the failure here is epic fashion-wise.

I see that it’s a private event, so Anna can do as she wishes. So, can I. I don’t need to support either Wintour’s despicable treatment of someone who after all is a guest OR KK’s famewhoring.

I hate to say this, but, maybe there’s more to Goop’s public dissing of this event than meets the eye.

    • LAK says:

Based on the guest list, i thought this was a flop. There were so many reality stars and minor celebs, KK was hardly the stand out though her dress was particularly atrocious. i mean what was George Clooney’s latest fling doing there? even as someone’s plus one?

  35. honey says:

All the Kim K apologists on this post and kanyes posts just shows that Kris Jenner did a good job in rehabilitating Kim image. Everyone is now like mean anna and kanye and poor Kim. Smh.

    • Mich says:

‘Poor Kim’ has nothing to do with it. What Wintour did was mean and designed to humiliate. I don’t have to have any respect for Kardashian to see that and find it tacky.

      • honey says:

Look everyone knows she is tough old bitch ( if you dont watch the september issue) why all the crying over kardashians in particular, sure makes you seem like you are all particularly invested in Kims well being. And to be honest i am not sure what Wintour did? Control the guest list of the met ball or choosing who is in a magazine she is editor of. You know that is actually her JOB. Unless you think she actually crops the photos in Vogue personally i dont see the big injustice…

      • Mich says:

I don’t care who Wintour invites to the Gala and I find Kim to be a whiny, self-absorbed, narcissistic, horribly-dressed, bitch (and I got all of that from watching her show three times).

My only issue (for lack of a better word) is the photo cropping. I’m in publishing and that is a hack job clearly done on purpose. It demonstrates a level of malicious spite that is really immature and unattractive.

    • booger says:

Not an apologist. I just think Kardashian is really, really easy to ignore. I’m not bothered by all the publicity she receives. Meh, it’s not like it’s going to last.

As I said earlier, I also think it’s dumb and hypocritical for Wintour to posture that the Met (and even the Vogue brand) is “elite” when it’s anything but.

    • booger says:

      PS
All the Wintour apologists in this thread congratulating her for having “class” by turning her nose up at the Kardashians just shows that the Camorra mafia has done a good job maintaining its stronghold on the Italian fashion houses, Vogue Magazine, and the slums of Italy. Everyone is now like ‘good on Anna for putting trashy Kim in her place’ instead of “why does that woman promote crooks as the ‘high fashion elite'”. Smh.

This is the kind of world we live in. Where people like Anna Wintour put more effort into preventing reality tv stars from showing up to their events instead of ceasing the promotion of fashion houses linked to organized crime.

  36. Madriani's Girl says:

Why is this woman considered such a fashion maven? That outfit and hairstyle are just boring and not sylish at all. Or maybe she thinks she’s above having to be stylish??

  37. Jade says:

Anna knows she’s a bitch, she doesn’t care. Kim knows Anna doesn’t like her. But she still
wants to go as a plus one? Why would you do that if you know the celeb-host doesn’t like you? You could be happily eating ice cream somewhere. But she still goes anyway, why wouldn’t she, when it’s one of the biggest fashion and publicized parties. And pls, ppl don’t go because it’s for charity. If Kim or others wanted to contribute to charity, there are other ways! This is just showing you can get past the velvet rope that’s all. So yeah Kim I’m sorry but why did you attend ?

    • booger says:

      You’re totally right.

Can we all just agree that everyone involved in this story is lame?

    • lem says:

I know Wintour (via Vogue) organized the event. But technically weren’t the hosts Beyonce and Rooney Mara? (I could be wrong, I’m legitimately asking).

  38. Nudgie says:

The shot of Kanye without Kartrashian is the GREATEST picture in the history of Vogue.

    QUEEN ANNA!!!

  39. TXCinderella says:

Hollywood is “fashion’s elite”? That is hilarious. Most of these celebs dress terrible. Not a Kardashian fan, but that was pretty mean of Anna Wintour to cut Kim out of the pics. Who does she think she is? Mean bitch.

  40. Amy says:

A well-mannered person is seldom unintentionally rude.

I am sure Ms. Wintour has perfect manners.

    • LAK says:

And no one can insult like a well mannered person!!

It’s an art. it should be studied.

  41. HH says:

LOL……. LOL…… L…O…L. Well done Wintour. Was this done with malicious intent? Most likely. But hey, I don’t care because Kim and Kris have given Anna the power by begging to be invited.

  42. Payal says:

I’m not apologising for this but I love anna wintour and I always will.

The a list was low at the met gala this year, i fact i thought the only a listers really were Cameron Diaz, gisele, heidi klum, Linda evangelista.

  43. Emily says:

Low move, but Anna Wintour’s always been an obnoxious twit who lives up her own ass. It’s not like she spends her life dedicated to worthy causes and is therefore entitled to act oh so above anyone else — and I mean anyone at all, so long as they’re not dangerous criminals. If she were really the kind of person she’d like us to think she is, she’d never lower herself to attack a Kardashian.

Also, that is a really poor crop job. The whole thing smacks of middle school. Utterly pathetic.

    • Blenheim says:

No Kim fan and I have never watched the Kardashian show, but methinks Anna Winour, who IMO has a ridiculous lampshade haircut, is clearly too hungry to be nice to anyone and probably hasn’t been nice to anyone in the last quarter century (or had a square meal). Of course she’s up her (colonic irrigated) ass. And that never changing haircut is as much of a statement as Donald Trump’s combover.

  44. Jennifer says:

Since KK is the original famewhore, it wouldn’t surprise me if she dated Kanye for the express purpose to FINALLY make it to the Met Gala.

  45. Jane says:

If only AW had the ablility to ban Kim from the earth all together…I’d be a very happy camper.

  46. Ron says:

Kim is pretty and rich, if she wants to run with that crowd she could remake her image. Rule: Someone can think of you what they want, it is up to you weather or not to buy into their thinking.

    BTW. I am a female

  47. VioletCrumble says:

“She’s a porn-star, but she deserves RESPECT because now she’s a mom. Since when do we not draw certain conclusions about people based on their life choices …..”

I got royally slammed for pointing out the very same regarding that Holly Madison person….

And I did notice that there was certainly a lot of other trash all over the carpet at Madame Wintour’s little soirée.

  48. DIANE says:

Maybe Anna told West that KK could come, but she had to blend in with the drapes. Hence, the get-up.
