You know I’m not Zoe Saldana’s biggest fan, but I really do try to give her a break sometimes. But I will never understand how Zoe became some kind of “Fashion Girl”. Yes, she’s made a few good choices over the years, and I applaud her for consistently trying new looks, even if they rarely work out. But for the most part, Zoe is on my permanent “Worst Dressed” List. And this dress is a perfect example of that. These are photos from last night’s Star Trek Into Darkness premiere in LA. This post is just for the ladies of the premiere, I’ll do a separate post for the dudes.
Zoe’s dress is Rodarte, and believe it or not, it was totally worse on the runway. This red carpet version is actually an improvement!! And that’s sad, because this dress is completely terrible. The ruffles, the netting, the complete design failure. It’s the wrong color for Zoe too – who puts a dark-skinned woman in this fleshy-nude color?! But really, the whole thing just looks impossibly cheap, like someone repurposed some old stockings and some glitter. And OMG that white cardigan?! Jesus take the wheel.
Here’s something shocking – I love this Zuhair Murad on Alice Eve. The design seems futuristic, which is perfect for this particular premiere, it’s a nice, clean, modern look, and it’s tailored beautifully. Well done, Alice. My one complaint: her makeup seems “off”.
Here’s Kate Beckinsale in Alberta Ferretti. She’s not in the movie, it’s not her premiere or anything, so she doesn’t need to steal focus. So she just chose a flattering and cute little black dress. She looks nice. I like the jazzy Jimmy Choos too – the yellow detailing is nice pop of color.
Jennifer Morrison in an Editions by Georges Chakra Spring 2013 jumpsuit. She’s not in the movie either, but she’s been doing a lot of red carpets lately. Anyway, I’m not crazy about this look but I don’t flat-out hate it either.

Zoe looks ephemeral, vintage, and very sexy all at once. I have such a crush on her. She needs to practice soft face smiles/poses in the mirror tho before red carpet events….
For someone so very outspoken about what suits her and forever talking about what an expert she is fashion wise it looks to me like she has crap fashion sense. Having a nice body doesn’t mean you can wear anything. She has collected so many bad ensembles that she has enough material for a couple of books.
Why do women believe that photo’s with their mouths hanging open looks good?
Because its not a fashion shoot. They’re literally walking into a building and are surrounded by thousands of cameras all going off at the same time from different directions.
I am a dark skinned woman, and I know that there are shades of tan & taupe, that can make my skin look blah. Anything resembling nude pantyhose have never been my best look. As for what Zoe’s got here? Not the worst, but not the best…I think the sheerness of the dress, combined with the lack of construction in it make it feel like elaborate lingerie. She’s still a gorgeous girl, though!
I’ve just thought I like this colour on her skin.

I wrote this in response to a post ( I think it’s since been deleted) that seem to take offense that Kaiser made a point about nude colors on dark skin — I didn’t think there was any need for offense to be taken!
Morrison at least has a connection, she played Kirk’s mom in the 2009 reboot
She looks like one of the American Gladiators in that outfit, though. Everyone else tried to wear their pretty clothes (side eye at Zoe) but Morrison showed up to wrestle.

A few comments… I like Zoe Saldana simply because she doesn’t play it safe. But you’re right. Her outfits rarely work and she is in need of a new stylist. With regards to Alice Eve’s make up, I feel that in the same way that many make up artists need to work on the way they do women of colour, the same can be said of women with very little colour. You still need to brighten and warm up the face. She looks like a corpse.
And why is Kate Beckinsale at every event? What has she done of value since Serendipity? Lastly, Jennifer Morrison’s outfit is fug, fuggity fug.
I think Zoe is gorgeous, but the dress…it makes her look like she’s covered in stretch marks. I understand it’s how the dress is made, but it’s just…it’s NOT good.
I LOVE Alice Eve’s look. I think she is stunning, I love her hair, makeup, everything. She is *flawless* in my opinion.

J.Mor…the outfit is awful. She looks like she’s doing a drag version of an ice skater. Her shoulders look wide, you can’t tell she has a waist. It’s just not a good look for her. I don’t even like the color!
I like Zoe’s hair??? that’s it. I hate the dress, its doing alot of things at once…her face looks pretty though, she doesn’t need alot of makeup and crap on her face to look pretty.

Zoe needs color. She’s not pretty in the face, but she has a long, lean body and a beautiful skin tone that looks great in vibrant colors.
I think Zoe is a very beautiful woman with zero sense of style.
She rarely gets it right.
She has gorgeous hair, yet, she never beautify her assets. She often has too red of a lipstick and rarely smile which would have made her head radiates.
She has the type of body a la Aaliyah, very leanly cut with long legs and yet she rarelly puts the kinda of gowns that would flatter her classical dancer type of figure.
What’s up with Zoe’s face? Has she had work done?
Her bottom nose~upper mouth area looks very flappy like a very obese person lose weight and the skin becomes flappy and droopy.
I think there is a name for it actually.

Based on previous premiere photos, I thought Alice Eve was average-looking for a starlet. (More beautiful than your average person, but not someone who stood out in comparison to the rest of Hollywood.)

Alice Eve’s body is crazy, she looks great and any dress that makes a body look like that is good, funny how women forget that a dress should flatter and enhance your figure .

Hm, usually I detest ruffles on anything but I actually really love this dress on Zoe, even the colour. The red lips are a nice touch but I would have liked her hair loose and wavy and I don’t much care for the shoes.

Zoe looks terrible. All around the look is awful. She always looks so harsh and like she’s just trying so hard to be fashionable.
Alice however is stunning in her dress. In fact everytim I’ve seen her at a premiere she’s the best dressed person there. Gorgeous.
On a daily basis, Zoe does her part to disprove the notion that skinny girls look good in everything.
