Sometimes there are those couples where you just know – that guy is going to leave her, or wow, she could really trade up. The Winehouse-Fielder-Civil marriage was always one of those, or so I thought. It seemed like one day Winehouse would wake up and realize that she could find a better man. That she would be the one to dump Blake Incarcerated/Parolled. Not so much, as it turns out. After getting her hooked on God knows what, Blake is the one who’s leaving, officially.
The jailed husband of singer Amy Winehouse has started divorce proceedings against her, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Blake Fielder-Civil has instructed a lawyer to file papers. “I can confirm that I have been instructed to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Amy’s adultery,” Henri Brandman told PEOPLE, confirming a statement he made to a Sunday tabloid in the U.K.
And Fielder-Civil’s mother Georgette adds that it was she who contacted Brandman on her son’s behalf last week. She says, “I am just so relieved it’s going to be all over.”
The couple have been through many ups and downs and it is the second time in six weeks that Fielder-Civil or those close to him have spoken about the split.
Mrs. Civil vows: “It will go through this time, it will go ahead.”
Winehouse’s rep in the U.K., Chris Goodman, had no comment.
The singer has spent recent weeks vacationing in St. Lucia – often along side a hunky rugby player.

I tend to think that Winehouse “left” first, even though it wasn’t official. She’s been going back and forth, trying to get her act together and then failing, over and over for months now. I truly hope that Blake filing the papers officially doesn’t send Winehouse into yet another downward spiral, but at this point, I don’t even think she needs an excuse. The “hunky” rugby player that she’s been photographed with is really cute, but I can’t help but think there must be something massively wrong with him if he’s all over Winehouse.

I’m sure he and his awful mother are rubbing their hands together at the thought of a divorce pay-out from Amy. You’d think, considering what a model husband he’s been, he wouldn’t be entitled to a penny. Scum. This can’t happen soon enough.

That said, I think this divorce might be the best thing in the whole-wide world, but it definitely sounds like he’s making a play for Winehouse’s piggy bank.
I hope he ends up with some old needles and burnt spoon from the settlement. It’s more than he deserves.

She is still on her extended vacation and is not well yet. I can’t see Mr. Beach Guy being her new rebound boyfriend.
In the vacation pics I’ve seen, Amy definitely looks happier, and appears to have gained some much-needed weight, but I agree with gg that she’s got a long way to go before she’s healthy. Still, it seems that getting away from Blaaaaaaaake was just what she needed. It’s too bad that he’ll probably get a big settlement out of this, but really, it’d probably be better for Amy to be completely destitute, rather than stay with that deadbeat. I honestly believe that he’d have eventually killed her in one way or another.
Did she really make much money while they were married? Seems like she was failing on a lot of stuff and didn’t do shit but do massive amounts of drugs.
Wow, I took a double take at the header picture. I had forgotten how beautiful Amy used to be. Sad what all the excess has done to her face…and everything else I’m sure as well.
So, apparently the basis for the divorce is that Amy Winehouse was allegedly unfaithful to Blake whatshisname.
Wait a minute? Didn’t this shrew actually get caught cheating on Amy once?
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You know that Blake must be that kind of guy who marries vulnerable women (in this instance, Amy Winehouse) to feel better about himself (security), cheats on her, controls her, and when the tables are supposedly turned it’s “unacceptable”.
This is such BS. There is cold, solid evidence that Blake either cheated on Amy Winehouse or intended to. So sad, she seemed more into Blake than he was into her. What a shame.
Blake took advantage of Amy emotionally and physically because he’s one of those tools who date women who he thinks are below his level, but honestly, Amy is not. She may be a bit of a mess, but even at her very worst, she was better than he’ll ever be.
He’s doing this for the money. But the good news is the divorce may save both of their lives. They are toxic together. Now they both have a slight chance of recovery. Together they had none.
I can’t imagine Amy having one man much less having someone “better”! The girl is gross – why would any guy or girl touch her? Money probably…
