Garrett Hedlund & Kirsten are ‘on the rocks’, he doesn’t want ‘marriage or babies’

Oooh, I was just talking about Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund in the Winona Ryder post! It’s like I willed this particular piece of tabloid gossip into fruition. So, according to The Enquirer, Garrett and Kiki are on the rocks. They’re not completely broken up… YET. But it’s close. Can you believe that Garrett and Kiki have managed to be together for 2 years? They get photographed together sometimes, but they’re rarely on the pap stroll, you know? It’s like most of the time, they actually do live quiet, low-key lives. And it seems like their relationship was going so well that Kiki thought for sure they would get married. And that’s when all the problems started:

Kirsten Dunst’s romance with Garrett Hedlund has hit a dead-end! After nearly two years together, Garrett, 28, suddenly told Kirsten, 31, that he has “no interest in marriage or babies,” revealed an insider.

“Kirsten is putting on a brave front, but she’s absolutely devastated,” the source told The Enquirer. “The sad part is that she’s desperate to be a mom, and up until recently Garrett was on the same page. But Garrett wants to grow up a little bit first. He’s told Kirsten point-blank that he’s not even sure if she’s the girl that he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Now, she feels like an idiot because she was telling anyone who’d listen that they were getting engaged and ready to start a family. She’s head over heels in love with Garrett, and this has totally blindsided her.”

After Kirsten’s 30th birthday in March 2012, “her mom Inez started telling her friends that a wedding was ‘imminent’. For the better part of a year, her conversations with Kirsten were all about Garrett being a husband and a dad, her wedding dress and their honeymoon.”

But Garrett never proposed and now pals are telling her to dump him, said the source. Despite that, “Kristen is still hoping it’s just a case of cold feet… but her friends are screaming at her to move on. No one think they’ll get through this.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

28 years old versus 31 years old isn’t that big of a difference. The difference is between experience and careers. While I like Kiki as an actress and I want her to do well, her career is definitely on the down swing. She peaked in the early and mid-aughts. She still gets work, of course, but I think the ship has sailed on Kiki being a go-to lead actress. Meanwhile, Garrett is basically just starting out. He’s only been a working actor with any kind of profile for about three or four years. His career is on the upswing… which means he might be keeping his options open for a possible girlfriend-upgrade. The only problem I have with this though is that Garrett never really struck me as a typical Hollywood d-bag. He seems like a cowboy who accidentally made his way to Hollywood. So… I don’t really know what’s going on. But it wouldn’t surprise me if Kiki and Garrett were close to being done.

    He’s so hot!!

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Glad you think so. Just remember: no touching.

      This man is mine.

      • truthSF says:

Not while I’m still breathing Kitty. I already claimed him back in 2004, back when he was Brad Pitt’s “cousin” in Troy.

Funny how Kaiser describes him as a cowboy who stumbled into Hollywood, considering That “cowboy” character was how Brad became hollywood’s golden boy.

    • lylaooo says:

he is so HOT!! i wonder why the media haven´t find him like that… i wish we could see more of him..!

    • Gaby says:

      Pure hotness!

  2. Original A says:

Haven’t they been dating for even longer than two years? He seems pretty into KiKi though, he took her home to Montana over the fourth…there are photos.

    • Lo says:

Actually it was Minnesota that is his hometown, not Montana, and yes, I saw the pics, too. I tend to think the Enquirer is incorrect (wow, that would be a first—NOT!) or that at least most of this is fabricated. From all I’ve seen and read (and people who actually have met him several times) he’s a good guy. I hope things are okay for them.

  3. JoJo says:

I actually don’t agree about Kirsten. I don’t think she’s a box-office girl – she makes more interesting, quirky choices in roles and is a good actress. Melancholia is a good example.

    • Gina says:

Exactly. I wouldn’t call her career ‘on downswing’ just because she’s not in blockbusters anymore.

She’s a great actress who seems to like taking on indie roles. Plus they make a hot couple.

    • Nikollet says:

I agree. She’s choosy about her roles, but that’s a good thing. Better than churning out rubbish.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Completely agree. Because she started building a commendable acting career at such a young age, she has the unusual advantage of being able to cherry pick the roles that most appeal to her.

I like her and I want to nail him to the wall. I’m sad if this is true because they were definitely a favorite couple for me..

      • marie says:

I’d rather have her career than some of the other more active actresses out there (you know, the ones that are everywhere)

as for him, he’s cute but all yours OKitt

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Good, Marie-because it’s Friday and I didn’t bring my slut shank to work with me.

ITA about Kiki’s career-she has respect in the industry and gets to work with great actors and directors. She might not be the most beautiful actress out there but I’d rather be Kiki than Biel any day. Plus, who the eff wants to be with Timberlake?

      • CC says:

        @ TOKitten

LOL. Who indeed. He’s such a good actor and a class act (lol).

    • littlemissnaughty says:

Absolutely agree. Just because she took a break for a while and came back to do smaller films (and win awards, btw) doesn’t mean her career is on the down swing. She won Best Actress in Cannes in 2011 for God’s sake. I wouldn’t call that down swing.

Or maybe success is measured by comparing people to Reese Witherspoon. 😀 That would be tragic.

  4. LB says:

That sucks. I liked them together.

  5. silken_floss says:

Awww.. I hope they make it. I like them together. They just seem… right 🙂

  6. brin says:

    Well that sucks.

  7. Seagulls says:

I’m just here for the pictures of Garrett.

  8. mkyarwood says:

A down swing? I dunno, Melancholia really put her back on the map for me. She did peak, but she’s back. As for the age difference, just starting out likely has more to do with it, but most dudes I know aren’t ready for that kind of thing EVER, let alone still in your 20’s. I will say though, Kiki, you have to stop expecting every relationship to be your fairy tale. I really hope she doesn’t slide back into drinking because of this.

  9. Pharce says:

She looks gorgeous in the second picture, with the flowers in her hair.

  10. Gwen says:

That’s sad, if true. I like Kiki.

  11. Kim says:

I have always heard she has an issue with alcohol. If that is still going on maybe he just can’t take it anymore.

  12. bammer says:

Aren’t there rumors she’s back on drugs? Not the most stable person to marry and have kids with.

  13. TheOriginalKitten says:

I might be blinded by my lust for him, but I have a hard time believing this story, particularly the part about him telling her straight to her face that he isn’t sure she’s “the one”.

He’s a really hot dude with a relatively hot career who could be acting like a dbag and dating VS models but he went with an unconventionally beautiful girl with talent and a unique style. I think he really loves her…

  14. Good day! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after going through a few of the articles I realized it’s new to me.

Nonetheless, I’m definitely delighted I discovered it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking
    back frequently!

  15. Sal says:

It’s the Enquirer, so I’m pretty sure it’s made up.

  16. Talie says:

If Melancholia didn’t have the Lars Nazi mess, she probably would’ve got an Oscar nomination. I think she’s very talented, just has to find the right project.

  17. krtmom64 says:

    She’s a “woof-woof”!!!

  18. Ashling says:

If he said to her he wasn’t sure she was “the one”, then he is an A-hole.

  19. Chordy says:

So I don’t really have anything to say about this story aside from the fact that Kirsten Dunst is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Just look at her career: Interview with the Vampire, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Bring it On, Virgin Suicides, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Melancholia, Spider-Man, Bachelorette – and these are just highlights! This woman has had an awesome, diverse, and interesting career, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!

    • CC says:

I agree! She’s an actress, not a starlet. She has done great work, and I hope she will continue to do so. She’s not a pin-up girl but I find her very pretty, very unusual.

  20. Laura says:

I had to come to but say one thing.

He is hot! That is all

  21. serena says:

I think Kiki can be a go-to lead actress again, it’s just a matter of movies that are offered to her. No way she is in a down swing.

  22. megan says:

How on god’s green earth could a couple be together for two years and not have figured this stuff out? Or at least discussed it? To me, feelings about marriage & children are part of the “getting to know you” phase that occurs in the beginning part of relationships. I understand it might feel weird to talk about when you’ve only been together a few months but it’s too important to ignore. So either they’ve never discussed it, or they have and she thought he would change his mind, or he did a 180.

  23. CC says:

I feel for her, I really do, because if you want that traditional setup, as a woman with a biological clock, hooking up and getting attached to a guy that doesn’t want the same when you do can be devastating, because a girl’s choices become limited and never good, like..

    a) break up with the guy and nurse the heartbreak and then try to find another who might end up being the same, or, possibly in the closet as jakey is.

    b) don’t chance anything and keep arguing about it until the guy gets fed up and breaks it off…and lose anyways

    c) sabotage birth control. You can potentially get a baby but not the guy, and …. well just add all the implications, too long for an essay. Short version: deceitful and only if you’d rather have a baby than being with the guy, since my guess these relationships end on splitsville.

Sarcastically speaking, if you’re into sabotage for a baby, well the guy is gorgeous, so the baby would likely be so.

I’m SOO glad I don’t really know any real-life hot (or even handsome-quite the drought in my circle) guys to make me hot and bothered and thinking of babies! Because yea, I’d think about it if with a hunk like that.

  24. dj says:

I so wanted him to be cast as Finnick in Catching Fire.

  25. Leah says:

He is so hot! And she is very talented, i agree with all the other posters, she won best actress at the cannes film festival so to think she is on downswing is odd. I think she has a good career, makes interesting movies and does great work. I like them as a couple.

  26. lady_luck says:

Well he is certainly being a prime class douche, to not mention this to her a lot earlier than the 2-yr mark!!!!! 🙁
