Here are some new-ish photos of Orlando Bloom and Flynn in NYC over the weekend. I know the Orloonies are dedicated and legion, so I try to provide the photos whenever we have them (and whenever he’s doing something interesting). I still like his haircut – it’s mature, and he looks even more handsome with his hair shorter, I think. I know that some of you have a lot of feelings about his hair (like, that’s the way I am about Benedict Cumberbatch’s hair), but really, fan-girls: this is a good look for him.
Orly took Flynn to the park, and it looked incredibly hot out. I kind of wonder why Orlando wasn’t wearing something cooler – perhaps shorts, flip-flops and a t-shirt? Instead, he wore (leather?) jeans and what looks like one of Miranda’s blouses. Seriously, is that a woman’s blouse? Do they make men’s blouses with some kind of tab sleeves? That’s just… wrong. I could see Gavin Rossdale pulling this outfit off, but not Orlando.
Orlando and Miranda have been camped out in NYC for a few months, and they’ll be staying there for the rest of the year, probably. Orlando is going to star in a Broadway revival of Romeo and Juliet. Which should get interesting. I do think Miranda is traveling a lot these days, so I guess Flynn is just staying with Orlando in New York for the time-being. And no, I haven’t heard anything else about a possible split. I thought for sure a separation was going to happen, but I guess they’re sticking with it.
You know what I was thinking about the other day? I was thinking about how Tom Hiddleston’s Dragonflies reminded me of Orlando’s old-school LOTR fan-girls. The level of obsession, the trash-talking of their girlfriends/partners… can’t you see it? And I wonder if Hiddles isn’t going to end up in a similar career path too.
PS… I loathe those sunglasses. They’re terrible and unflattering.

My husband has a plaid shirt quite similar to this one with tab-sleeves and buttons. Of course, it’s not sheer and floaty-looking, but I adore Orlando so he gets a permanent pass from me. HATE those glasses, though.

Sadly/happily? I think Hiddles has better range as an actor, and picks more interesting parts – even though he became huge as Loki, he isnt defined by that role the way Orly is by Legolas (and to a lesser extent by Will Turner). Plus I think Orly wanted very much to retreat both during and esp after the insane publicity tours that those two franchises were. Hiddles is drawn to the limelight as a dragonfly to the flame (shoot me).
So I don’t see career parallels between those two – but am happy to see updates on both any time!
Not sure about the Hiddles range, Anna. All his roles are basically posh boys, aren’t they? Loki = posh villain. War Horse = posh boy. Deep Blue Sea = mid 20thC RP posh. F Scott Fitzgerald = posh socialite. Etc. He’s even a patrician in Coriolanus.
I’d actually like to see him do something out of the posh box. He may well have range, but I don’t think we’ve seen it yet.
I think you’re right about Orly though. I suspect he’s quite happy to be both working AND out of the fandomlimelight.

Well, Hiddles def feeds the stoners, but hmm…I wonder whether Orly’s relative reclusiveness made the loonies even loonier? No idea. But when I was at the top of my Orly crush phase it was right after the first POTC so any kind of crazy fan had a lot less [online, which is EVERYTHING] resources to feed the crazy. Whereas now…
hmmmm…..see, i think the Orloonies would edge out. They are seasoned pros and have refined their skill set over time. :p That and they had to deal with Kate Bosworth.
That being said, the Hiddlestoners/tumblrites unfortunately have more exposure because *somebody* can’t seem to help himself with egging them on a bit! It’s a shame because it’s a huge detractor from the otherwise, seemingly nice persona he puts forward.
Oh Bosworth was THE WORST! Btw, my ex-bf was her professor at Princeton and did not have good things to say about her ‘intelligence.’ Which made me happy, bc I was very Orly-territorial. But as soon as I saw the pix of Orly with Miranda, all snuggled up on some balcony, I absolutely loved them together. And I have been all about Miranda till the recent rumors, actually.
Ummm…she never went to Princeton so how would a professor there know anything about her intellect…? She deferred admission and never attended.

You can tell by the shoulders it’s a men’s shirt. the shoulder seams are low to account for the broadness of male shoulders, while women’s tend to be higher. But if it was a womans blouse he actually looks ok in it. Hate those glasses
He can fight the sexy as much as he wants, it’s not working. Stupid sunglasses and lady’s shirt and all, I still would.
This is the best I’ve seen him look in a long time. If there is one thing about him that will always make him sexy to me…he looks like a very good father. Good for him.
And it is hotter then the blazes of hell here on the East Coast, no fashion judgements here.

That’s what I’m sayin’. It’s beyond uncomfortable and hot here, and looking at that baby in pants is just……..why? Go buy him some shorts and sandals already. If Orlando can walk around in this heat in those pants without passing out, God Bless him, but dress the baby for the weather please.

This the one thing that makes me never want to be in the limelight; not loss of privacy, but loss of respect. He’s in the park with his son. Pics of celebs with should be well off limits. It’s disrespectful.

Came here to say that I snickered at the headline, because I saw these pics yesterday & after one second, thought “Is he wearing a woman’s blouse?”
But these are sweet pics. Look at Flynn’s turquoise sneakers! Orlando & Flynn are a great little team. In their pics together, they both look happy & lighthearted. Orlando looks like a wonderful dad, & Flynn is a very lucky little boy to have one.

I was 50 meters away from him when the paparazzi were running after him. My God. So disgusting. They got in a fight right in front of his kid. It was really, really disturbing. And he obviously wanted to get away and couldn’t(the heat in NYC these days is unbearable, it’s so humid, and he couldn’t get a cab). But those people, they are really the lowest.

Interesting that you bring up Hiddles & Orly’s career trajectories – Will Turner was a part that Hiddles auditioned for & was THIS close to getting….Hollywood casting sliding doors….. consider it.
Really? How did you hear about this? My understanding is that Hiddles auditioned and came close pretty much over and over, and that he is experiencing the same thing even now (e.g., The Crow).
I don’t think they are very alike. TommyAnnE has better acting chops even though he does seem to always end up in the same posh roles and, in my opinion, hasn’t yet proven himself. Also as has been pointed out, TommyAnnE loves to bait and encourage his fandom. He seems to think it is a good thing.
If could turn out that what they will have in common is being known primarily for one not very great role and a totally psycho fandom.
The buttons are one the same side as all men’s shirts, these shirts are a common sight in hot and sweaty SE Asia. Tabs on the sleeves! so what.
