All of the good ones are married AND gay! Following the Supreme Court’s rulings on DOMA and Prop 8, it seemed clear that California was going to follow through on being the next state to allow new gay marriages to be allowed (the Prop 8 decision – originally – was about whether the original 2004-08 weddings should stand). Jesse Tyler Ferguson, best known as Mitchell on Modern Family, had grown into a quiet but determined gay-marriage advocate over the past few years, and it looks like he and his boyfriend Justin Mikita had gotten engaged at some point, and they decided to take the plunge in the wake of the SCOTUS rulings. Jesse is now legally wed to those BROWS.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson is a married man! The Modern Family actor wed fellow actor Justin Mikita in Manhattan on Saturday, July 20, Us Weekly can confirm.
The pair, feted by over 200 guests, including Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, Julie Bowen, Ty Burell, Jerry O’ Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Quinto, Isaac Mizrahi and husband, Arnold Germer, Nigel Barker, Cat Deely, Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio, and Eric Stonestreet, celebrated their nuptials at the 82 Mercer space, which was organized by planner, Bryan Rafanelli. The venue featured beautiful hardwood floors and exposed brick walls.
“What a happy day!” Lakshmi tweeted before the ceremony. “I love you both!!”
During the couple’s rehearsal dinner at Harding’s Restaurant in N.Y.C. on July 19, an eyewitness tells Us that the beautiful space was decorated with bouquets of sunflowers and featured romantic lighting with tea candles and chandeliers. The guests noshed on hors d’oeuvres, including BLTs and a short rib option, and sipped strawberry martinis with a wine spritzer.
“There was a lot of laughter,” an insider told Us.
After dating for nearly two years, Ferguson, 37, proposed to actor Mikita, 27, in Mexico back in September.
In March, the redheaded actor told Us why they chose the Big Apple for their wedding location. “We wanted to get married in New York, because that’s where it’s legal, so we want to support the state that’s in support of us,” the Emmy nominee explained.
In celebration of their commitment to each other, the pair co-designed a “TieTheKnot” bowtie collection, with all proceeds going towards groups focused on LGBT rights.
“He means a lot to me,” Ferguson said of Mikita. “So it’s really special.”
I’m not anti-wedding or anti-gay-wedding in the least, but as I get older, I find that I’m most interested in hearing about the food in any wedding story. I like the fact that Jesse and Justin served MEAT at their wedding. I’m sure they had a vegetarian option too, but I just appreciate that we’re hearing about shortribs and BLTs. Also: the guest-list sounds really great. I guess Ed O’Neill and Sofia Vergara couldn’t make it?

Those are some fierce eyebrows.
good for them.
I love that this seems like a non story. Normalize it! Woo hoo!
Also there are no dresses or shoes or veils to scrutinize 🙂 less comments for that too.
I think they look like a cute couple. The husband reminds me of Zachary quinto
agree, as it should.
I am willing to crash any wedding serving BLTs and short ribs. Bring it on.
Many congratulations to this lovely couple.
I wish them a lifetime of happiness!
Yay, bow ties*!
Congrats to J&J!
* My son, aged 13 and 4 months, prefers to borrow Grandpa’s bow ties rather than my husband’s ties whenever the school orchestra performs somewhere, and the occasion calls for formal wear.
