This story is news to me because I didn’t even remember that Paul Wesley of The Vampire Diaries was married. I thought he was just engaged, but it turns out that Paul, 31, was married to an actress from Pretty Little Liars named Torrey Devito, 29. The two married in relative secret in April, 2011. Fast forward a couple of years and Paul and Torrey are divorcing, which is sad but seems somewhat predictable in Hollywood. They don’t have children and vow to “remain good friends,” yeah right. Here’s the story, from US Weekly:
Paul Wesley and Torrey DeVitto are getting divorced after two years of marriage, reps for the stars confirm to Us Weekly. The actors, who met in 2007 on the set of the film Killer Movie, got married in a private ceremony in New York City in April 2011.
Wesley, 31, and DeVitto, 29, “have decided to amicably split,” their reps explain. “They will continue to remain good friends.” The stars have no children together.
Now I normally wouldn’t wonder if Paul is dating his costar and sometimes on-screen love interest, Nina Dobrev, except for some photos that Nina posted to WhoSay recently. She tweeted a photo of a birthday cake for Paul and a very cosy picture of the two of them together. They do seem to be filming the show now, and maybe they’re just good friends. Nina recently broke up with their other co-star, Ian Somerhalder, who plays Paul’s brother on The Vampire Diaries. Here’s that photo, which seems suspicious to me because it just shows Nina and Paul.
However Nina also recently retweeted this photo that Ian took of the three of them together, so it’s possible they’re just all close friends who work together. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Nina and Paul were hooking up, though. Life imitating art and all that. If it’s happening, we’ll hear about it soon I think.

At first i thought, “predictable..” But after reading they met in 2007, well before they were casted on their current hit shows, it makes me sad here they’re breaking up. 🙁

no….that comparison has ruined my like for him now.
But then again in one of the photos where his hair is gelled up he looks like a young version of John Taylor’s current look. Now I’m showing my age.
Maybe because I’m from the Buffy days, but he always reminded me a little of a thinner, younger David Boreanaz.

I don’t Nina and Paul are dating. The divorce explains why Ian and Paul are so close recently and call each other brother all the time. I doubt that Paul would date the ex of his “brother” 😉
I can’t imagine only giving a marriage 2 years (unless there’s abuse, cheating, or some other really bad situation).
I assume one of them cheated because they seemed pretty close before – didn’t she accompanied him on their VD-tour to Europe a few months ago?
I wonder if that means her character, thr doctor whose name I forget, will make a return or not? She’s not really that integral a character, but funnily enough it’s always handy in a vampire show to have a medical professional on side.
But this news makes me sad. I remember thinking they were such a cute couple when I found out they were dating. Weirdly i was watching pretty little liars today and saw Melissa (her character) and wondered how the two of them were going. 🙁
I also started speculating about Nina and Paul having a thing! Interesting timing, considering both respective couples broke up within months of one another. Even if there was no prior fooling around, I wouldn’t be surprised if either Nina or Paul started feeling more-than-friend feelings once Nina became single. But, who knows? Maybe they’re all just pals!
Based on his ex-wife’s looks, seems like Nina could be his type, dark brunette and slim. But how awkward would that set be – three main stars who are all in some kind of relationship or past relationship together
She reminds me of Rosario Dawson for some reason…

When I’m watching Pretty Little Liars and she comes in, I just stare at her. She’s so unbelievable beautiful.
I agree. I’ve never heard of the actress before but clicked when I saw her picture. Must say she is more beautiful in motion though (not that she looks bad here).
She’s also on Army Wives, and I love her character on there, too. She is really pretty.
This post seems to be leaving out kind of a big point: DeVitto is also on The Vampire Diaries. She plays Dr. Meredith Fell. She’s played a pretty big role in a few episodes. Her character is one that could pretty easily be written out, but still. With Ian & Nina and now Paul & Torrey, that must be one rather awkward set full of exes.
I was about to comment to point that out, though her character on TVD seems rather pointless now. She only ever mattered for that Alaric arc, right?
There was an old Ted Casablanca blind item that suggested all three of them were sleeping together at the start of the show, like rotating before she settled on one. I agree though, those pics definitely raised my antennae.

Nina and Paul are hugging in a photo taken at his birthday? They MUST be dating! Never mind they are not only co- stars, but close friends. You can only hug your friends if they are not from the opposite sex, that’s like a basic rule!

Paul and Nina did not hook up. Both of their former relationships were shams, and were destined to end sooner or later. Nina threw the birthday party for Paul, and baked him that cake. Afterwards, they had dinner together. There is potential of them possibly dating in the future. The reality of all the dynamics involved are complex.
