Nina Dobrev on the cover of Cosmo: stunning or too J-Woww?

Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev covers the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine with a “strong” and “single” headline, which I guess is a not-so-subtle reference to Nina’s recent breakup from Ian “Creeptastic Smile” Somerhalder. Nina looks really different than herself on this cover, doesn’t she? I honestly thought this cover featured a very made-under version of J-Woww although (let’s face it) Cosmo is slightly upmarket for J-Woww, which is sad because J-Woww would kill to have a Cosmo cover (you know that’s probably her ultimate career goal).

At any rate, I do think that Nina’s body looks pretty killer in this shoot even if the cover looks a bit too photoshopped and “Jersey Shore”-ish. As the editorial progresses, she looks more and more like herself even if the clothes are pretty terrible. Here are some scant excerpts from the interview:

Nina Dobrev

On her friendship with Julianne Hough: “It’s been cool to find an active buddy – there are a lot girlie girls around. We don’t talk about makeup; we talk about life.”

On what she is working on at the moment: “I want to open my own yoga studio. Panning construction and looking at properties is fun. I’m using a different part of my brain. You know that feeling when you use a different muscle? You’re excited to be exercising it, but you get a little sore! Yoga changed my life. Hopefully, it will do that for others.”

[From Cosmopolitian]

Hmm, opening a yoga studio does sound like fun, but Nina should be careful about mentioning yoga so prominently in an interview because she’s bound to get a call from Russell Brand. It’s nice that she’s so close to Julianne Hough, and I’m sure the two have bonded over their mutual recent breakups of their long-term relationships. Although I suspect that Ian and Nina were a lot more — how do you say — physical than Julianne and Ryan ever were.

Oh dear god, this peacock dress is atrocious. Poor Nina.

Amazing bod but she’s way over-tanned and they also made her look much more trashy and generic with hair/makeup styling. She usually does so much better on the red carpets.

    • Liv says:

I can’t get over the rubber boots and the wide dress! Her clothes are horrible, who styled her?

Apart from that she’s really beautiful. Her girlfriend talk annoys me though. Didn’t she meet friends and went to the beach when she was in a relationship?!

  2. Mrs. Peacock says:

She looks like she is dropping a deuce in every picture.

  3. Andrea says:

Nina is gorgeous but that cover is awful! I know it’s Cosmo and expectations should be kept low but I’m so sick of these covers that look like they belong on cheap male magazines being marketed to women. Pretty girl though.

  4. Samtha says:

Her body looks banging, but they Photoshopped her face so much she’s barely recognizable.

  5. Liz says:

The blue print dress is pretty.

  6. Samigirl says:

Had you not told me that was Nina, I would have sworn up and down it was J-Woww. Eek.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

No kidding! I took pictures with her and spent a bit of time with her backstage at Cirque and she looked nothing like this. She is a tiny thing and wears little makeup, is pale and does nothing with her long hair IRL. She was cute, here not so much.

I THOUGHT it was J-Woww….dear God she looks so budget in these photos.

She’s one of those actresses that I just can’t see in a gown. It doesn’t seem natural on her.

  7. Mew says:

I actually thought it was J woww so yeah… too J woww.

  8. Dommy Dearest says:

Cosmo is the worst magazine that’s ever been published. The crap that is inside is just eyebrow raising. It is the cause of insecurity, sexism, and just an overload of bullshit in women’s lives. I use to read this magazine when I was a teenager and the amount of rubbish that was published I soaked in. Now being an adult and reading it, it’s no wonder why women feel so insecure and pressured to be a certain way. They keep printing the same stories over and over in recycled lines.

    • Barhey says:

I just can’t get over their covers. Why do they love such terrible, obvious airbrushing? They must have realized that the people on their covers barely look human. Have they really never noticed?

Glamour has the worst editor and staff

I’m not sure why any famous person would even do their ridiculous cheap crap magazine. They need help.

  10. GUEST says:

I dont know, she just reminds me of someone you would see at a mall and think meh, pretty. Nothing exotic really, just cute.
