Victoria Beckham’s glamorous nights: ‘I’d rather work or pluck my eyebrows’

Victoria Beckham covers the September issue of Vogue Australia. Thoughts on the cover? I’m not opposed to a heavy, dark eye and I understand how it’s popular these days to pair a dark eye with a nude lip, but the combination on Victoria seems… weird. Corpsey. I just want a touch more color on her lips. But I guess it’s sort of funny that Victoria gets the cover of every single international edition of Vogue but she will never, ever get the American Vogue cover. Sigh… poor Posh. Anyway, the interview excerpts are rather charming. Victoria goes out of her way to de-glamourize her image as a jet-setting fashionista:

She is known as one of the world’s most flawless stars who is barely ever seen without perfect make-up or with a hair out of place, but Victoria Beckham claims she isn’t always so glamorous. Instead of heading to a Hollywood hotspot or a five star restaurant at night, the mother-of-four claims she would prefer to relax at home like any other tired parent.

‘Honestly, once the children are in bed I’d rather work or shove on a face pack and pluck my eyebrows,’ revealed the 39-year-old as she appeared in her 10th Vogue magazine issue.

‘By the time Brooklyn’s finally gone to bed, it’s all I’m fit for. Really, we’re much more normal than people think,’ David Beckham’s wife of 14 years told Australian Vogue when she posed on the cover of the September issue.

The former Spice Girl and mother to Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 10, Cruz, eight, and Harper, two, is more interested in spending time with her husband and kids than anything else, especially now that the famous footballer has retired.

‘We’re all so proud of David,’ said Victoria. ‘Having supported him at clubs all over the world for the past 15 years and seen how he has been an inspiration not just to me and the children but also to millions of people, we are now just really excited at the prospect of spending more time as a family.’

After playing the sport professionally since the age of 17 for clubs in England, America and France, the 38-year-old hung up his boots for good in May. While David is now a man of leisure, the pop star turned designer has kept herself busy carving her own fashionable career. However, she admitted that she suffered from a bad case of stage fright when she presented her first collection to critics.

‘Everyone would file in and act so inscrutable. I’d think: “Um, did anyone like it?” No-one would say anything, so I’d just gabble to fill the embarrassing silences – even to the Japanese, who didn’t understand a word I was saying,’ she told Vogue Australia.

[From The Mail]

I have those days too, and I’m not even a mother. Most nights, I only have the energy to watch Rachel Maddow and pluck my eyebrows. That’s my idea of an exciting night. Of course, I would think of some better things to do if I was in bed with David Beckham every night. Damn, Posh!

Eh, she’s had four of his kids, Kaiser. Maybe Becks wants to give her a break once in a while.

  2. Eleonor says:

Posh Beckham is the only celebrity who gets photoshopped to have some meat on her bones…

  3. Spooks says:

She really turned her image in the past few years. I like her.

  4. Anna says:

Interesting that she appears to wear the same dress on the cover as she did to Wimbledon last month, non?

  5. ds says:

    I like how she looks

    • RocketMerry says:

      Me too, she looks lovely.
Sexy yet reasonably covered up and not too explicit on the cover, sweet yet a bit spunky in the pink sweater picture.
      Very nice job, Aussie Vogue!

  6. Nev says:

Nice cover better than the Jennifer Lawrence one. Looking good and fashion.

  7. Anmelt says:

I actually think she is really pretty here, she looks much better than her Spice Girl days. Also seems quite sweet and misunderstood.

  8. Lulu86 says:

Every time i see her interviews on tv she comes across as one of the sweetest celebrities. Incredibly charming, i guess she really does simply hate her smile but actually seems like a warm person. She is like the opposite of Goop who is very smiley but is actually an ice queen, and she doesn’t smile but she seems lovely. Is that making sense???

I think I understand what you’re saying, although I don’t quite get people’s hatred of Goop.Probably because I’m indifferent about Goop and I don’t read her website. But I’ve always liked Posh eversince I saw her reality show (Moving to America). I think she’s hilarious!

      yep, I agree

  9. Rikki says:

She has no sex appeal. So ordinary looking.

I agree that a little more color on her lips would be nice on the cover shot, but I think the nude lip really works in the pink sweater picture. She looks beautiful.

  11. Shelley says:

Victoria looks beautiful in the second pic wearing the sweater. I love how well put together this woman is. She is definitely one of our modern day style icons.

  12. Mew says:

I’m not really a huge fan of her ultrafull brow. I wasn’t fan of the ultraplucked either, but something in the middle was the best. This just makes her look somehow tired and not so very fresh… maybe it’s because of the dark eyeshadow she works it with? Oh well, not my business.

  13. Bird says:

I think she looks gorgeous in these pics.

  14. MademoiselleRose says:

I’ve never liked her, but I don’t really know why. I don’t know, she’s always seemed snotty. Even if she doesn’t like her smile, she could just quirk her lips a bit to look at least approachable. But now I think about it she really just does seem like a really well put together working mum. She looks really pretty here – the best I’ve ever seen her. She looks softer than normal. She looks lovely.

  15. Barhey says:

That is the worst cover picture I have seen in a very, very long time

  16. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

    Awful cover photo.

  17. Jennifer12 says:

I like Posh, but the makeup has to go. You want your eyes and lips to pop, not look like you were interrupted putting your make up on.

  18. Claire says:

She has been looking great in the past couple of years. When the family first moved to America and she had the extensions and the bolt ons on display she looked terrible
