John Travolta has been put ‘on a tight leash’ after Leah Remini’s CO$ defection

John Travolta

There’s a lot of Scientology-related stuff in this week’s tabloids, so let’s just get to it. In light of Leah Remini’s awesome defection from Scientology last month, the pressure is apparently on John Travolta to help repair the sparkling CO$ image after Leah Remini dealt the organization an awful public relations blow. Man, you know the cult is in trouble when it thinks that John “Masseur Groper” Travolta is an asset and something that must be kept at all costs. Then again, no one ever accused Scientology of logic, so Star’s new story about how “Scientology puts Travolta on a tight leash” is completely believable:

In the wake of Leah Remini’s departure from Scientology, Church atuhorites are working together to ensure that John Travolta doesn’t jump ship too! At the 87th birthday celebration for Tony Bennett in L.A., witnesses say John and his daughter, Ella Bleu, 13, were being followed by a Scientology minder named Angie.

“She spent most of the night aggressively staring at anyone Johny talked to,” recalls an eyewitness. “It was very uncomfortable, but John acted like it was normal.” Another source says John is facing pressure to publicly endorse the religion. “They badly need John to talk up Scientology to drown out the fiasco with Leah.”

[From Star, print edition, August 26, 2013]

Yeah, John isn’t going anywhere. If he didn’t leave the CO$ after the (terribly tragic) death of his son, Jett, then he won’t leave for any reason. Meanwhile, this week’s issue of the Enquirer gave me a good mind f— with promises of an explosive Scientology story in the vein of “Hollywood stars’ darkest secrets,” but the tale isn’t anything we haven’t heard already. Per the Enquirer’s aerial “spy photos,” we’re only learning that celebrity members’ top-secret files (which we knew existed) are housed within a top-secret vault in New Mexico (near Area 51?) as “an insurance policy” in case of defection. The Enquirer has a side story about how Lisa Marie Presley and Leah Remini are now BFFs and have been bonding over their mutual newfound freedom.

Lisa Marie Presley

Lisa Marie Presley has vowed to stand by Scientology defector Leah Remini, but sources say devout church members John Travolta and his wife have cut all ties with the former “King of Queens” star.

After 43-year-old Leah quit the controversial religion in July, Lisa Marie, 45 — who reportedly abandoned the church in May 2012 — counseled her by phone, say sources.

“Lisa marie called Leah and they talked for nearly two hours,” revealed a friend. “She welcomed her to the club — the club of getting your life back. She also advised Leah to ‘find a small group of friends you can count on and hold them close.'”

That circle isn’t likely to include Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, who fear daughter Ella Bleu, 13, may quit Scientology after family friend leah’s defection, sources say. Although Scientology officials deny that the church asks member sto “disconnect” from people who leave the church, a source said: “When John and Kelly told Ella that she wasn’t allowed to contact, see or speak to Leah ever again, Ella was devastated.”

When Ella remained confused at Scientology’s apparent cruelty in cutting off Leah, her parents decided to find a church minder for her, said the source. And the Scientology guardian stayed close to Ella while the teen attended Tony Bennet’s 87th birthday bash with her father in Beverly Hills on Aug. 3.

“John and kelly have tried to reassure Ella that she’s doing the right thing,” said the source, “but she’s still angry that she can’t see Leah.”

[From Enquirer, print edition, August 26, 2013]

I would be willing to be that if Ella Bleu is upset enough over CO$ tactics, she might actually leave the cult when she reaches adulthood. That would be awesome, of course.

This week’s issue of Star talks about Leah filing the missing persons report on Shelly Miscavige and says, “She fights for what she believes is right. Leah won’t stop blasting them until changes happen.” In other words, I doubt Leah believes the LAPD’s statement that Shelly is just fine.

They had some interview with Kirstie Alley and John Travolta about a new show on one of the entertainments programs, but I didn’t watch it. However, I did think it was a demonstration of closing ranks, on some level.

If this is true, poor Ella Bleu. She was told to abandon empathy and critical thinking skills. That’s no way to “save the world”.

“She was told to abandon empathy and critical thinking skills. That’s no way to “save the world”. ”

That was very nicely put, Kiddo.

  2. Shanie says:

The Lisa Marie story about reaching out to Leah explain alot. A week or so ago I was on Kirstie Alleys twitter just to see how she was handling Leah filing that police report. I noticed two things

    1) Kirstie was still shading Leah heavily. It wasnt even ambigous.

    2) Kirstie was tweeting LMP alot in a very over familiar tone. I scrolled quite abit but couldnt see tweets to Lisa predating last week. I dont think Lisa was responding though or if she was, it was in Private Message. It struck me as I had believed Lisa left the Church and would expect that she would be disconnected. Maybe Kirstie has authority to override the disconnect to meangirl Leah?

    • Kiddo says:

As far as I know, people who don’t make a public statement about leaving and who are also celebrities, may not be wished out into a cornfield. I don’t think LMP ever specifically announced that she left the church, so she may not be considered suppressive, or whatever the word is that they use.

What was Kirstie saying to her? That’s very interesting. I wonder if this will push LMP to be more vocal?

      • ctkat1 says:

Lisa Marie’s mother Priscilla is still very involved in Scientology- if Lisa Marie were to “publicly” leave, then her mother would have to cut her off. By staying quiet, she’s deemed “inactive” rather than “suppressive” and can maintain family relationships, although I’m sure there are a lot of shady pressure tactics happening to her and her mother.

    • msw says:

If she “routed out” the right way, it can happen.

  3. ncboudicca says:

That..thing..on his chin. Merkin on chin, merkin on head, merkin for wife…but I still love you, John. Just watched Primary Colors the other day and his Gov Stanton was over the top and awesome.

    • gg says:

Maybe the chin thing is drawn on like his hair.

    • JD says:

I was watching “Saturday Night Fever” a few days ago, and got a little sad how handsome and non-weird he was back then.

He has given me creepy vibes for years now, but I still have a very tiny soft spot in my black heart for him. He was almost every girls fantasy guy in the mid-late 70’s.

  4. lucy2 says:

People are wise to CO$’s games now. They can close ranks and promote all they want, but the damage is done, and probably will continue to happen.

  5. Tapioca says:

    Tight leash? Mmmm…his favourite!

Great parents – tell your 13-year old daughter that she can’t see a family friend ever again and then hire a stalker to prevent her from attempting to.

Hey, why not just put the kid in a cage and blast pro-CO$ propaganda at her until she’s completely brainwashed and have done with it?

    • Badirene says:

They are saving the cage and the blasting for her birthday as a special party treat.

John’s marker pen beard and hair is ugh.

    • msw says:

You are sadly not very far from the truth in that last sentence.

    • gg says:

oh, they didn’t have to hire a stalker, the cult provides those for free.

      • AnnE says:

The strange thing is they don’t provide anything for free – they charge for everything and anything. Boggle$ the mind that anyone fall$ into thi$ cult to $tart with.

  6. Jennifer12 says:

This cult is seriously terrifying. How did they convince the police that Shelley was fine? Go, Leah! At least they’re losing their luster in the public eye and people won’t come into the cult so easily. I hope.

    • msw says:

They are well connected at the LAPD.

    • jh says:

I have heard from previous members who were physically abused by Miscavage that if a police officer had come and asked them if they had been punched they would’ve denied it with all they had, that they would’ve said “Like the beaten wife, I would’ve said I fell down the stairs”

And another thing is that Scientology convinces you that EVERY bad situation in your life is only your fault and as they say “You pulled it” meaning you attracted it or you brought it upon yourself and it’s up to you to accept it and work your way out of it through Scientology’s methods.

Of course, if D Miscavage wants Shelly out of the picture so he can be with his assistant, Laurisse Stuckenbrock, who he made divorce her husband, then no amount of auditing, work & study will help Shelly break free.

      • MonicaQ says:

Same here. Clearwater police respond as slow as they possibly can to reports of Scientology abuse because to quote one, “I feel bad but we get there and they tell us everything is fine. I know it’s not but I shooting on Betty Lane I have to get to so I have to have priorities.”

    • gg says:

Ca$h talks and they extort a lot so they have plenty.

  7. msw says:

I am amazed that COS thinks they are fooling anyone. You don’t ask people to cut off from SPs? Yeah, sure. Even Tom Cruise was a PTS due to his relationship with Kidman.

  8. Allen Smithee says:

Area 51 is in Nevada, not New Mexico.

    • TrustMeOnThis says:

Correct, and Shelly is in Hemet, California, not in Trementina. Tony Ortega has covered this extensively over at tonyortega.org and he specifically debunked this Enquirer story the other day.

Of course, she’s still stuck there, but really, these details are not difficult to find out! Don’t they have the Internet over at the Enquirer?

  9. Jayna says:

Bogus story. They’re not worried. John and wife are in still so tight. I saw Kelly in an interview on the Doctors the other day about organic food. She looked so freakin’ amazing at 50, youthful, no fat fillers. And the storyline about pesticides I agree with her on and was actually frightened about arsenic levels and such showing up in children in a small study the Doctors show was talking about. Anyway, I digress. It was all good until she threw in about her best friend, Kirsty, and her diet organic line, whatever it was called and was like an infocommercial for her twice, dropping it in, about how she lost all her pregnancy weight from it (why didn’t Kirsty and wasn’t she sued LOL) and then later again throwing in about Kirsty and her organic line again, blah, blah. Kelly is so beautiful and funny. I don’t get her at all with John, but even getting past that, because they’ve been together so long, maybe it works for them, it is her continual involvement in that cult boggles the mind. I guess you are brainwashed after a while.

COS isn’t worried about them at all.

    • Bridget says:

That’s the thing: Kelly is way more into the group than John, and that’s part of what keeps him in. Obviously they don’t have a traditional, romantic relationship, but it is very clear that they are very close amd love each other and their children very much. If Travolta were to blow he’d be leaving them behind, and I just don’t think he’d leave them. Further, they must have some very serious dirt on him from his auditing sessions – I mean, think about the stuff that we already know!!

Kelly Preston is the one I’ve always kind of wondered about. She’s very pretty and was a semi-successful actress, but I wonder what the impetus was that made her go full $ci and marry Travolta. I’ve always wondered what really went on between her and Sheen (and yes, I know that she’s always said he was very nice and it was really her fault the gun went off).

  10. blue marie says:

did they threaten to take his hair if he left?

    • Kiddo says:

I know you are being facetious (maybe not?), but I can’t imagine what thing they could possibly be holding over his head (pun intended). Everyone suspects that he may be bi or gay. That is not the kiss of death for a career any more. Maybe he really believes? Or maybe he invested far too much financially or psychologically to admit failure or being wrong, or something like that? Maybe he doesn’t want to lose friends?

    • ZigZagZoey says:

      Too late!! =}

    • Shady says:

John has been in since the 70’s, I’ve seen a few photos of him with Heber Jentsz where they look like good friends. It’s well known that Heber, a man in his early 70’s has been kept locked up in the hole since ’04. Mike rinder wrote up a harrowing story of the abuse Heber has been subjected to, this to me is even worse than the Shelly situation. John and Kelly are either heartless or remaining willfully ignorant about these human rights violations.

  11. Michelle says:

Is Pricilla Presley a Scientologist still? Are Lisa’s children Scientologists?

    • TrustMeOnThis says:

Priscilla is deep in. Lisa Marie moved to the UK and made some cryptic statements about figuring out who your friends really are which many have interpreted as her cutting ties to COS – if she spoke out publicly, Priscilla would be pressured to disconnect.

  12. Nikki says:

Seriously though, what public relations are they talking about? Doesn’t anyone who is *not* a Scientologist think they’re nuts, regardless? Why do they even bother with PR?

  13. bettyrose says:

And now Laura Prepon has to leave Orange/Black cuz of this insane cult? What is wrong with these people that they tolerate this craziness even to the detriment of their careers? ??

  14. dcypher1 says:

I’m sure there are a lot of lapd officers who are scientologist who are doing this cover up for the church. That’s why shellys ” fine”.

  15. Dirty Martini says:

For the love of all that is holy, I cannot fathom why he is still a member of that cult.

He had an autistic son. The cult’s denial of the ralities of autisim caused them to for years to hide, mistreat and misinform as to Jett’s health and wellbeing.

John’s sexuality doesn’t fit the cult’s standard. we all know that. no doubt it too has contributed to his sexual acting out.

So much harm and drama in his life and to others in his life has resulted from his ties to these shysters.

No one said you had to be smart to be a movie star, did they? These people amaze me.

  16. Jill says:

    Poor Ella.

    • Rudy says:

      poor Ella indeed.

If you are reading this Ella, run, run as fast as you can away from CO$. They kidnap, torture, abuse and fleece their people of their life savings. The Cult tears families apart. Love your parents but leave before Mr. Miscarriage gets his grubby little paws into your pockets.
