Claire Danes in a white Valentino for DC ‘Homeland’ premiere: lovely or fussy?

Homeland Season 3 premieres on September 29th. Which reminds me that I need to re-order Showtime. Last year when I ordered Showtime just for Homeland, I went to cancel it the day after the finale and when I called in, I was asked why I was canceling. I tried to give this epic reason about the economy and the guy on the phone was like, “You can just say it’s because Homeland is over.”

Anyway, these are some photos from last night’s season premiere in Washington, DC. Aw. Damian Lewis and Claire Danes were relatively close to where I live! I should have gone out to stalk them. Except I’m really not all that interested. I mean, I’m excited for Homeland but I don’t care about them enough to drive to Washington and camp outside their hotel. It’s not like they’re Benedict Cumberbatch. *sniff* I have standards, you know.

Anyway, Claire wore this surprisingly pretty Valentino Resort 2014 gown. I like it, and I’m surprised she went with this dress. Usually I think of her style as more minimalist, cleaner, less fussy. But this really works on her. I’m also including pics of Morena Baccarin (I forgot she’s pregnant), Mandy Patinkin, Damian Lewis and Morgan Saylor, who suddenly looks all grown up. Ugh, I’m not trying to yell at a child or anything, but I really hope the storylines about Brody’s family are kept to a minimum.

I find her dress to be lovely but I think I would have like it to be at the knee more than the longer version.

  2. Pastyousayyouneverknew says:

It’s just a premiere for a tv series right? Both she and the pretty lady in black are a tad overdressed and princess-y.

  3. Sabrina says:

Don’t really care for the dress. The bottom half looks too much like a tablecloth.

Damien and Morena look great and I can’t wait for the next season to start.

  4. TheOriginalKitten says:

I think she looks great but it’s hard to not be distracted by the hot piece of ginge ass that is Damian Lewis.

  5. Paris says:

Lol at the Homeland convo with Showtime.

    • Falula says:

I think it’s funny to pretend it’s any other reason. We do this at our house for Homeland and with HBO for Game of Thones and only once did an operator try to talk us out of it. If I remember correctly, they were trying to offer Trueblood as a good reason to hold onto whichever station it was. No thanks.

I think Claire Danes look great. Other than that, why do pregnant women insist on wearing tight dresses? It just looks so wrong

    • Pastyousayyouneverknew says:

“it just looks so wrong” – in your opinion

Never been pregnant but my sister wore fitted clothing all through her pregnancy because she felt more like herself and sexier that way.

      • Anna Scott says:

Yes, it is my opinion. I typically, just like most people, post my own opinions. That’s what people do when they comment on a gossip site. What a weird thing to do..

    • Falula says:

I am seven months along and feel better in fitted clothes because it’s obvious that I’m pregnant, rather than wearing a sack and just feeling especially large. I don’t love this particular dress but I prefer that kind of pregnancy style on most people.

    • Shoe_Lover says:

so should she wear a sack dress? her belly is the only big part, why shouldn’t she and other pregnant ladies dress in a fitted dress if they want

We’ve just started watching Homeland last week – we’re mostly through the first season I think. It’s so good at sucking you in – it’s an addictive show. I’d always seen posts about it on here, but I’d resisted starting a new show. I’m glad I did.

    • Mindy says:

God, whats wrong with me?! I loathed that show and that annoys me because I equally hate being left out. But I tried, I really did………

I mean I know the character is hingeing in a nervous breakdown but why must Claire Danes overact in the role.

And it scares me to think that even the fictional CIA can be so stupid. Like when CIA agents are visibly shocked that the caucasian girl could have recruited the middle-eastern guy into a cell, aaaargh!

It’s pretty/cute, I don’t know if it is the size ( maybe a tad too big) or the fabric ( a little heavy), but as soft looking as it is, it overwhelms her to a degree.

I know, right? My husband and I started watching it over Labor Day weekend and watched all 12 episodes of the first season. We couldn’t stay away and watched 11 of the 12 episodes of season two last weekend, finishing up the season on Sunday night. Last night when I got home from work, my husband was all set to watch another episode until I told him we were all caught up and had to wait until the 29th. He was so bummed, thinking we still had one more episode to watch. It is a great show that has so many twists and turns, you just don’t know what to expect next. Wait until you watch the season two finale!
      Highly recommend! 🙂

It’s ok, a bit kiddish looking for her tbh. Morgan looks v.pretty in a similiar style. Unfortunately from the previews Kaiser I think Brody’s daughter is going to feature a lot (nothing against the actress but the character is annoying ugh). Morena looks very pretty but I can’t get on board with the skin tight dress while heavily pregnant thing no matter what, sorry. Damian Lewis is still od’ing on eyebrow pencil, drives me nuts. Mandy looks hawt in his burgundy velvet shirt!

    • Just Passing Through says:

It looks like the actor that plays Mike Faber is going to be on the new show on NBC, Blacklist, with James Spader. Don’t know what that means as far as his relationship with Morena’s character, Jessica…..

  10. TherapyCranes says:

They are a bit overdressed but I love the dresses so I don’t mind. I wish you would have posted more pics of Damian Lewis. I’ve had such a hard crush on him since Band of Brothers. He is very sexy.

  11. Jackson says:

It’s a bit too summery for my tastes considering we’re in the second week of September.

  12. roxy750 says:

    Claire is beautiful, always!

  13. KellyInSeattle says:

I like the dress and think she looks really good, but her “stardom” is getting so old…sick of her!

  14. Mandy says:

That dress is darling! Love it!

  15. MissMoody says:

I am so with you on keeping storylines involving Brody’s family to a minimum. Still a fan but the second season was a bit hit and miss. The scenes with Saul though, worth it. It is unfortunate re: Brody’s family mainly because this is where it gets interesting. The situation his family has been thrust into given the events of the finale.. that’s juicy stuff but at this point, I can’t stand them. Can’t. Stand. Them.

  16. Lauren says:

Claire & Morgan are both overdressed. But I do love the Valentino.

  17. IceQueen says:

I love the black dress. Beautiful.

  18. Seszie says:

Love the dress. Should be fitted better. Very kiera knightleyish.

  19. Maggie says:

    Claire Danes is gorgeous!
