It’s been less than three weeks since Fergie and Josh Duhamel welcomed their first child together, a son they named Axl Jack Duhamel. Which still hasn’t grown on me whatsoever. If anything, I hate the name MORE now than I did three weeks ago. Anyway, even though I can’t really imagine that anyone or any magazine was clamoring for photos of baby Axl Jack (maybe they’ll call him A.J.?), Josh and Fergie decided to do the whole “baby photo release” via social media. Good. I’m glad they chose to do it this way. I’m sure Us Weekly would have been able to come up with $100K or so, but I like how more and more celebrities are just doing the first baby photos on Twitter or Facebook.
Josh posted this photo on his Facebook with the message: “Axl Jack Duhamel Day 1. Life is good #paparazziyoucanleaveourhousenow”. I love this baby’s pursed kissy-face!!! He has wide-set eyes too.
And Fergie posted this photo on her Facebook and Instagram: “Axl Jack Duhamel. Day 2 of life. Hearing test complete. All systems go. #chillin”.
He’s a little cutie. Congrats to Fergie and Josh. And of course, welcome to the world little Axl! I’m sorry about your name, little dude. Maybe just go by “AJ”? That might work.

#2 This is the way to release photos. It makes no sense to hole up in your house for six months and increase the pressure and desperation the paps are under to get a picture, thereby creating a dangerous environment when you do step out to give the wee one some fresh air. Just get it over with.

I love the name Axl! I thought about using it, since it’s a Scandinavian name and that’s a huge part of my heritage.

There are Axels in my family too — but they have the decency to use all of the vowels. “Axl” is fine as a show name for dissipated rock stars, but I can’t stand deliberate misspellings. It’s not edgy — it’s just obnoxious. Especially for such a sweet little guy. Why not just name your kid Kwik Mart?
