The Hollywood Film Awards were last night. But perhaps they should have renamed them The Julia Roberts Is Fabulous And the Most Important Person In the World Awards, because that’s what most of the coverage is going to be. Julia walked the carpet with producer and friend Jerry Weintraub, who produced the Ocean’s Eleven movies amongst others. Julia wore this Elie Saab Spring 2014 dress which… I do not like on her. Julia is not wearing this dress properly, in my opinion. Look at all the wrinkles and look how unflattering it is. She should have gone for something much less boxy.
People Mag had a lengthy article about what went down during the awards – you can read the piece here. Apparently, Sean Penn made an “elaborate introductory speech” for Julia and he went on and on about how much she eats. Julia also referenced her appetite, saying: “Fortunately, I am a hearty eater, which I told my husband 13 years ago when he asked me out on a date. ‘Prepare yourself. I won’t just have a salad.’ But that’s worked out for us.”
Sandra Bullock in Dsquared. Eh. It’s just a little black dress. It’s a bit sexier than what she usually wears, but it’s nothing special.
Olivia Munn in Dolce & Gabbana. God help me, I like this dress. I’m just not sure I like it on her. I kind of want to see it on Sofia Vergara. Also: Olivia’s hair looks awful.
Lupita Nyong’o in J.Mendel. A curse upon J.Mendel!! I’ve been seeing way too much J.Mendel on the red carpet lately. While I applaud Lupita for not being afraid of a bold color (and quite honestly, she’s one of the few who could pull this off), the cut on this dress is terrible. They’ve made this slim, petite, beautiful woman look bulky.
And last but not least, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. I love them together!

I’m in love with Lupita. Saw an interiew and she is sweet and full of light.
Olivia always weaars stuff that is either too tight, too constricting, too complicated (with oddly placed zippers, snaps or cutouts), heels are too high, necklines are too low, or it looks like she can stand but forget walking, sitting or ordering anything to eat …even a salad.
Her wardrobe is hot but it makes me sad and yearn for pasta.
Sandy looks gorge. Olivia’s dress is hideous. Lupita is amazingly beautiful even in an unflattering dress.

While I’m not a huge fan of Julia’s dress, she does have some nice legs. I like Sandra’s look but wish the skirt were a little shorter.

It only took a 30 pound weight gain to make Julia’s legs nice. When she filmed Pretty Woman her legs were so stork skinny that they had to use a stand in for the opening scenes where’s she’s getting dressed for the stroll. Remember her zipping up the boots? The director took one look and said get another body in here. I wonder what she thought of that.

As for her dress, I like it. It’s always refreshing when actresses don’t feel like they need to let it all hang out to look good. Still think she’s a miserable human being though!!

@Virgilia – I think that was rumor, but I could be wrong. Her comment about his asking her for a date 13 years ago (being that specific) seems to confirm the timeline that they hooked up during filming. His first wife claimed they were trying to have a family and had been happy. She did not cave in to a quick divorce. His family sided with his wife, his mother died during the year or so after this all became public and it was a big mess.
The smug t-shirt pap walk just sealed the public image of a big star trying to force a divorce and have her chosen man. He looks like such a man-child. Hope she’s truly happy with the effort it took to get him.

Just saw Gravity, LOVE Sandra and she deserves all the kudos she is getting. She has had banner year. Which has me wondering if Julia is envious/jealous of SB, after all, SB also has an Oscar so Julia can’t lord that over her, but now SB hit movies back-to-back (JR has had many boms recently) AND SB is friends with George Clooney, all JR territory. To top it all off, they are in same age group, which means likely up for the same part at times. Yet SB is box office gold now and JR is not. PLUS SB is LIKEABLE, and JR is not. I feel weird even commenting on Julia Roberts social life, but you just listed people she worked with, not people she’s friends with. I liked the movie but think any average actress could play that role. She’s a decent actress, but the special effects are the star of that movie.
