Chris Brown has entered rehab voluntarily so that he can ‘gain focus & insight’

wenn20796272

Very, very early Sunday morning, Chris Brown and his bodyguard beat the hell out of at least one dude in Washington, DC. The dude went to the hospital and Chris and his bodyguard were arrested for felony assault. They stayed in jail throughout Sunday, Sunday night and most of the day Monday until the judge finally had a hearing for them. The judge downgraded their changes to misdemeanors, which is unfortunate. Even more unfortunate? Chris was released without bail and it’s basically like he’s going to get a minor slap on the wrist for beating down some dude (not to mention the homophobic comments he made just before the beatdown began).

So, everything was coming up Breezy once again. Breezy’s fan-girls were already preparing to campaign on Breezy’s behalf – “He’s just misunderstood! He’s so sensitive! Other dudes are violent too!” – and the next legal hurdle for Chris would be his probation hearing in California on Nov. 20. And most of us just thought, “Eh, it’s California. Nothing will happen.” But I guess Chris was worried about it. Because Chris just went into REHAB.

Chris Brown is trying to get back on the straight and narrow. One day after his release from jail on misdemeanor assault charges, the “Don’t Judge Me” singer, 24, has decided to voluntarily check himself into rehab to deal with some personal issues, his rep says in a statement to Us Weekly.

“Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility,” the statement reads. “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”

The news comes at a crucial time for the controversial star, who was released from jail on Monday, Oct. 28, following his arrest for an alleged assault in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. According to a police report, Brown and his bodyguard were involved in an altercation with another man outside the W Hotel after the man tried to join a picture with the Grammy-winning singer. The report claims that Brown made a homophobic remark to the alleged victim — “I’m not down with that gay s–t” — before reportedly punching him in the face.

The hip hop star — who is still on probation for his 2009 attack of then-girlfriend Rihanna — was initially charged with felony assault in connection with the incident. Prosecutors reduced the charge to a misdemeanor on Monday; he was released without bail after 36 hours in jail.

Brown has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from the man he is accused of assaulting. He and his bodyguard are scheduled to return to court on Nov. 24.

[From Us Weekly]

Part of me thinks this will be a good thing for Chris in general, because I do believe he’s got some drug and alcohol issues. Unfortunately, though, I don’t really think that dealing with his alcohol and drug abuse is going to make him any less of a violent predator with a hair-trigger temper. This is a cop-out: “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.” It’s mushy – if he wants to blame his violence on drugs and alcohol, then that’s something that should be brought up at his probation hearing.

This is Chris’s basic argument: “It’s not my fault I’m so violent, it’s the drugs and the alcohol, but you can’t bring up the drugs and alcohol because it might negatively affect my probation, the rehab is supposed to make me look sympathetic and wounded and if you don’t see me as a victim, I’ll punch your face in.”

Update: Oh, I guess the rehab is for his “anger management” issues. Again, I don’t consider that “rehab”.

Of course. I think this was a very predictable move and very typical of stars once they get “caught”. Too bad they don’t have a rehab for predatory assholes.

    • T.C. says:

So many people called it as his next move. Get caught doing something bad, go to rehab claiming it’s to make you a better person. Chris Brown isn’t violent because of drugs and alcohol the douche is violent with no help from chemicals.

  2. eliza says:

Nice plan to escape jail. Yawnnnnnnnnn.

As usual, no punishment for being a violent pig. A cushy rehab stint where he nods in agreement, cries, talks about how rough he has it and then back out into society like nothing is wrong!

    • MonicaQ says:

I just KNEW this waste of human skin, going nothing but contributing to the heat death of the universe, thirsty bargain basement Usher was just going to skate. KNEW IT. UGH.

      • Just wait, his stay will be counted in days…I predict he will last about as long as Lindsey before he pronounces himself ” cured” and leaves to hit someone else without any punishment again…He makes me sick!!

  3. Tiffany27 says:

His homophobic psychopathic a** needs to gain therapy and anger management. Not “focus and insight”.

  4. teatimescoming says:

Go to jail. Do not collect $200. I miss monopoly

  5. bammer says:

It’s never too late to turn your life around. However, I think this is all for show because he’s worried about his probation. He needs genuine, longterm help.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Agree. I hope, rather than believe, he will get the help he so obviously needs.

    • Lucinda says:

I think anger management therapy is far more appropriate than drug rehab anyway. I wish I believed it were a genuine effort to get help. I can’t stand the guy but recent interviews have softened my stance on him slightly as I do really believe the guy was molested as a child.

  6. Marieeeee says:

Holy “Faces of Meth!” Looks like rehab is exactly where this boy needs to be, his shit looks worse and worse each awful picture I come across.

  7. Stef Leppard says:

Omg @Jess you were right! Douche rehab does exist!!

  8. teehee says:

    Yuh-huh.

  9. bns says:

He’s an asshole, but I really do hope that one day he can work out his obvious mental issues.

He’ll still be an asshole, but hopefully not a violent one.

  10. lucy2 says:

An obvious attempt to avoid jail time. Even with the charges reduced, he was still involved in a violent incident – shouldn’t that violate his parole?
He probably really does need severe, intensive rehab and therapy, but you know he’s only doing this for appearances and at the urging of his legal/PR team. He has no desire to change.

    • QQ says:

That’s what i was coming to say: a tranparent ploy to avoid jail…too bad that instead of addressing the faces of meth-sizzurp seizure he got going on they are going with hollywood standard asshole rehab, which obvs doesnt exist.

    • Gem says:

how refreshing would it be if instead of using rehab as a ploy to get reduced time or whatever was actually used in a genuine way? If he stood up and stopped blaming other people for his childish, reckless and outrageous behavior and said yeah i know i messed up, i want to take responsibility and serve my time or whatever the court chooses, serve the full time THEN go to a rehab and actually get help? I think it would give him a way to “come back” and maybe earn some respect & credibility. But hey im not some fancy expensive PR team so what do i know.

  11. doofus says:

I think he’s been hitting harder stuff than just weed and booze over the past several months.

he has that gaunt look that crack/meth heads get. also wouldn’t be surprised if he’s indulging in PCP-dipped cigs as I’ve seen him with a butt in a few recent pics. that sh*t makes you CRAZY.

  12. Greata says:

Rehab or no…this dude is slowly making his way to the penitentiary…….just a matter of time before Karma catches up.

  13. novemberscorpio says:

I think his behavior is caused by an underlying/untreated mental illness. And all the meth he’s smoking is only exasperating the problem. I’m sure he’s only going to rehab in an attempt to save face, but it’s better than continuing on his current downward spiral.

  14. MO says:

Rehab should not be used as a “Get out of Jail Free” card. Two to three weeks of lectures, group and individual therapy will not change this behavior completely.

  15. crab says:

He looks horrible!! His face looks like a skeleton with skin on it!

  16. Mia4S says:

Rehab for misogynist douchebags? Will that include rehab for whatever he is obviously on?

Honestly I’m not bothering with stories on this guy anymore. I am physically repulsed when I see his photo.

  17. lolita says:

I can’t believe I used to.have a crush on this guy.ugh.slaps self although in my defense it was when he first came on the scene and was still wholesome

  18. BeckyR says:

No cure for stupid…or for being a grade A asshole.

  19. pnichols says:

I call BS. This jerk will do anything to avoid jail. He is a piece of s***.

  20. aquarius64 says:

Brown should do rehab – while servng four years in prison for the probation violation. Don’t wait for a homicide at his hands.

  21. ashley says:

He should have done this after the 09 incident. There’s nothing wrong with seeking help, rihanna should too,she went through a traumatic experience. She hasn’t dealt with it,instead she is getting unecessary tattos to mask the pain. Not good, when u have problems,u have to deal with them head on,not sweep them under the rug.

    • Jayna says:

But that’s not why he’s doing it. It is the standard 101 play by attorneys for their celeb clients who are facing jailtime to sway the Court. He is probably in there right now furious, saying he didn’t do anything, and everybody is out to get him. Hopefully, even though he is in there for the wrong reasons, maybe he will learn something. But we see how that’s worked for Lindsay in her two or three times using the same ploy, trying to avoid jailtime. Same ol same ol. She’s only been good for a couple of months because she wants that two million dollars from Oprah.

  22. Shannon says:

He’s just checking into a glorified spa to avoid jail time. End of story.

  23. Nicolette says:

He needs to ‘gain focus & insight’ ? No, he needs to catch an ass beating himself. Let him be on the receiving end for once, maybe he’ll finally get it.

  24. Just Me Again... says:

I know you’re not gonna want to hear this but I am a fan of CHris Brown & his music. I do think he is misunderstood and suffering from issues we know nothing about, so him checking into rehab is definately a good thing! I in no way condone or except domestic Violence and I believe what he did to Rihanna was horrible, but hear me out…I do belive she provoked him! Not saying he should have done what he did, but lets calla spade a spade here, can we?

Also, you might need to go back and check your facts, it was found out that the victim in this alledged beatdown in DC was lying. That his story was inconsistant and his injuries were no where near as bad as he was trying to portray them as…that would be why Chris Brown was released without bail and charges were reduced.

Everybody deserves a second and third chance or at least not to be judge by their past, especially when they have issues that stem from childhood!! You guys are all very judgemental and extremely consending and you all seem to need LOVE, just as much as Chris Brown does! God Loves all of us the same…even the Ax Murderers!!

Now after saying all that, I’m gonna close with wish Chris Brown the very best hoping he gets help for ALL of his issues!! #JesusLoveYouToo

    • Just Me Again... says:

Also, you cannot believe everything you hear…people do things to get money, so lying and saying a celebrity with lots of money, who has a track record and is widely hated punched you in the face to get money is not that much of a far stretch! It’s been know to happen!!

    • Tulip Garden says:

Everyone is judged by their past, usually the most recent “past”. There is literally no other fair way to judge people. A person can change the way that people see them by changing their behavior. It’s not something that anyone else can do for them.
Personally, I find Brown’s actions deplorable but that doesn’t mean that I don’t hope that he will change. I don’t “hate” on him because, believe it or not, the person that would benefit most if he accepted responsibility for his behavior is him. Everything would improve for him if he gets a handle on his problems. Whatever caused him to be the way he is whether it is childhood trauma, a drug problem, or narcissicism is now HIS problem. It is up to him to handle it and, as with all people, how he handles it will be the deciding factor in his future happiness.

    • bluhare says:

I agree that he needs help. However, going to rehab to avoid jail doesn’t sound like a guy who’s hit bottom, and that’s where you need to be in order for something good to happen.

I didn’t know there’s rehab for anger issues.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

You must be trolling right now…you just have to be because no one is this naïve.

    • Seen says:

Rihanna provoked him? Calling a spade a spade ? Wow. Womankind just wept.

    • EammesP says:

What kool-aid are you drinking? Way to victim blame Rihanna, btw.

    • Kcaia says:

I agree with what you said, but I don’t know why it matters whether or not Rihanna provoked him. I have yet t o meet or learn of a person who has not had provocation from others in their lifetime, including Jesus. Chris’s anger would still exist in his life, even if Rihanna hadn’t.

  25. GirlyGirl says:

    What. Ever.

All you need is cash to get off in the USA. I bet the music industry scolds him with more Grammys.

  26. Madriani's Girl says:

I have given up hoping these a-hole celebrities will ever be held legally responsible for their behavior. This sh*thead hurled a homphobic slur and broke a man’s nose. The victim never threw so much as a hand in the air so how is that not felony assault??? And checking into rehab for anger management? That’s the newest crock in the celebrity justice handbook, I guess. He has already been through anger management and went on GMA to crow about how much it helped him and then he proceeded to throw a chair through a damn window!

    • Dawn says:

ITA. It gets sickening after a while. Is it any wonder that he never learns because he never faces any consequences the way the rest of us would/should.

  27. Hakura says:

@Nicolette – (stuck on mobile version, can’t reply directly). I think he *has* been on the receiving end of a beating, probably more than once, if what I heard about his family situation growing up is anything to go by (I think it said at least 1 of his Mom’s boyfriends were abusive). Probably where a lot of the misogyny comes from too… Maybe blaming his mother for letting it happen.

I also think there may have been sexual abuse, bc of the whole “I had sex at 8 years old” thing. Not that this excuses *anything* he’s done, just sad possibilities of the behaviors origins.

  28. Hakura says:

I also wanted to say… That the ‘rehab’ stint is total, complete BS of the highest order. It’s his trying to appear that he regrets everything & is acknowledging his problems… He doesn’t want prison, plain & simple, & this is probably one of the last cards he has to play against the probation violation. I’m a total cynic, but I dont believe he feels bad about a damned thing.

And he *does* have meth/crack face from here to next week… But isnt he being regularly drug tested for probation? In that case, wouldn’t he be busted for it?

  29. Kcaia says:

I hope he gets something out of it, but that’s up to him, really. I love his music, I hate his choices. But how do people not see that he’s already being punished for his anger? It doesn’t matter how much money, power, fame he has, if he were happy inside he wouldn’t make those choices, he would have control over himself. But it bothers me that the world hates him so much, because the same applies to everyone, if you hate others it’s because of your own human unhappiness. Too many contradictions with not nearly enough insight. How many people said the cruelest things they possibly could about Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, etc., until they died, then it’s “oh how sad, they were so talented, I wish they had conquered their demons.” Is there any lesson learned here? Do people really believe that millions of hate poured and expressed for these people from all over the world, has nothing to do with the demons that hold them back? Is Chris Brown, and others, more likely to change in a world that sympathizes and cares or one that hates and wants vengeance? What if it were your own child, with those problems, which would they need? How is it that people can ignore so greatly that their own children are being brought up into a world of wrath and hate, that tears apart every weakness they may have, and then wonder where youth and people, in general, gets this “f it” attitude from? It’s a protection shield, in a world that would rather hate than understand each other, that would rather see each other hurt than helped. It really bothers me that adults don’t see that this, precisely this, is why children bully and torment each other. They learn very quickly to ignore and deny their own problems and to deflect them by focusing on others instead of themselves. And please don’t anyone tell me their kids don’t see what they do online because your child is a mini copy of you. They absorb the dirt in you that you thought you hid away, and if not for ourselves, we should do it for our children, because there is no truly happy person alive that hates and/or doesn’t care for his fellow humans, any of them. And karma will come to those who do wrong, it’s not something to stress over. It may be obvious to everyone that CB has some headed his way, but so do all those that rejoice in others’ pain, punishment and struggle, and that’s a fact whether you choose to accept it or not. Chris isn’t the only one who could/should be doing better for himself and others.

  30. janie says:

I hope he’s sincere? He has such a bright future ahead, if he learns to control himself. I have a feeling this is to deter a date with incarceration?!

    • Emily C. says:

He knows perfectly fine how to “control himself”. His problem isn’t anger management. His problem is that he’s an entitled, vile waste of skin who abuses people because he knows he can get away with it.

      • Kcaia says:

Isn’t calling another person “a vile waste of skin”, being verbally abusive, and a matter which you can “control”, or do you have none over your own thoughts and behavior? Or is it okay to be abusive as long as you judge and deem the victim as deserving of abuse, because that makes no sense, that’s the same lie abusers tell themselves. If one’s knowledge and understanding is advanced or complete, than they know not to judge or resent the lessons that others need to learn, instead one would focus on their own experiences, the lessons they themselves must be taught, before trying to teach everyone else.

  31. Ruyana says:

I read somewhere (don’t remember where) that it was his lawyer, Mark Geragos (sp?) that took him to rehab.

Rehab: The celebrities “get out of jail free” card.

  32. Emily C. says:

Putting abusers into “anger management” programs only teaches them to be better abusers. They need a program specially tailored for abusers, one that will completely change their thinking; every other kind of therapy only makes them better at victimizing people.

So, I expect him to end up in jail after murdering someone. He is never going to be held accountable until then for anything he does.

  33. Onyx XV says:

I’ve known people who’ve gone to “rehab” for emotional issues, rather than drug or alcohol problems. There is more than one kind of rehab.

Of course, in Chris Brown’s case, as many have already posted, this is an obvious ploy for judicial leniency. I hope it doesn’t work in that capacity, but I do hope maybe a seed gets planted and he learns something useful about himself.

  34. gg says:

He has gotten so gaunt he looks like someone strung out on heroin.

  35. Legal Annie says:

He loses conscience at every turn. He will be involved in a murder/suicide soon enough.

  36. Daniel says:

bottom line, he’s commited so many crimes that if it was like nobody ME that did that, I’d be locked up for life! Geez a judge or someone had to be bribed or something to let this guy go. He beat the sh*t out of a woman and done so many lame *ss things and gets away with it. Just proves that if you got money and or fame you can get away with anything in America, even murder.

  37. MAC says:

If he actually said that why is it not a hate crime? I hope he gets treatment for his personality disorder.

  38. the original bellaluna says:

But can they teach humility and how to act like a normal human being?
