I’m starting to feel like I made a pact with Lucifer’s Homegirl when I promised not to make fun of Tom Hiddleston at all for one week. We’re only four days into it and already I’m starting to crack! No, no… I can hold it together. Here are some photos of your boyfriend Tommy Hiddleston at last night’s LA premiere of Thor 2: Loki Thunder. Once again, Tommy went without his beloved velvet. I’m sad for him! I miss the velvet. Tom ended up posing with Nathan Fillion and Zachary Levi for a bit on the red carpet too – Nathan greeted Tom like they are old friends, which is cute. Since I’m not saying anything bad about Tommy… I’ll just say that it’s an interesting posing choice he made, to pose like “The Thinker” – arms crossed, intellectual half-smirk on his face. I hope Tommy banged someone last night.

Pfft, if I’m Hiddleston, I have no reason to be jealous of Sherlock. Multiple blockbuster movies, money hand over fist–look they can both be humble bragging and cloyingly annoying (and neither are very attractive in my book) but I’m pretty much over Cumby and his tumblr army.

He doesn’t Google himself … but he can tell interviewers all the things the fans are saying/doing about him on the internet! LOL, not a believable lie. Him and Cumberbatch are the same in that regard. They both claim they “stay away from all that” but then they forget they said that when they admit in interviews that they know about the memes, and the otters, and the “yaoi”, and the fan fictions, and all of it.
I think his cheat on that one is that he follows roughly a million people on Twitter and gets his info that way. There’s zero chance he’s not keeping up with all the craziness though.
Maybe it’s a technicality. He doesn’t google himself, but he searches on twitter, tumblr and yahoo search.

This is nitpicky, I confess from the start, but … I really can’t stand that pose when he’s standing with one leg cocked out and bent sideways. It’s awful, not handsome, and really distracting. It’s deliberately posey like he practiced it in front of a mirror years ago and decided it would be his signature stance.

Can someone enlighten me a bit on just exactly who this Luke person is? I’m correct that it’s his publicist, right? He seems to be such a ubiquitous presence; is that normal? For some reason he seems to show up in so many pictures and I don’t notice that as much with other celebs. Maybe he just hovers more closely to his clients than other publicists do, but it seems like the guy is pretty much EVERYWHERE with Tom.
It’s because [MY THEORY AND I WILL NEVER CHANGE] Tom is batsh*t crazy and needs to have someone by his side to keep him reigned in. Well, I’m only half-joking about him being crazy, but I do think he’s has issues and can’t be allowed in public 100% by himself. I think Luke actually gives him some room on the leash and that’s when you see the theatrics and the dancing and the laughing, but without Luke he’s actually quite manic.
Thanks, Maureen. I hadn’t considered that possibility. In one of the “official” photos of last night (not one taken by a random fangirl) you can see Luke’s hand around Tom’s shoulder and it looks as if Luke is pulling him away quite insistently from someone Tom was talking to. It just struck me as kind of odd and not something I see that often with other actors. Sometimes you see their publicists in pics or interviews but they seem to try to keep a discreet distance. Maybe this Luke guy just takes his job VERY seriously! 🙂
Tom has a tendency to get distracted and sidetracked very easily so I guess Luke kind of helps keep Tom on point.
I usually don’t care much about Tom Hiddleston but that Alan Carr interview was wonderful.
And Tom was so charming in it. Yes he’s precious but god I’m literally swooning.
Also I love Alan Carr’s voice! 50% of the reasons why I love watching Chatty Man is Alan Carr’s voice and accent.

I didn’t get the sense that his subdued reaction about Cumberbatch was professional jealousy. I actually took it as the first hint that he might be a little tired of the creepy fanfic types, with perhaps a side dish of envy that Cumby knows a big word that he doesn’t.
Anyway, he looks fine here, but on Chelsea Lately he looked thinner than usual for some reason, and I got the sense he didn’t know what to do with her.
I agree, he probably doesn’t care to encourage the slash fic. I guess fans still send him links and mail in their stories. He may not seek it out online but he has seen it because that’s (probably) a big part of his fanmail.
Tom is so much more attractive and charming that Cumby. Tommy, if you ever want to spend time with someone who has never given Sherlock a split second’s thought, I’d be happy to oblige.
It’s amazing how tastes can differ so polar opposite from person to person. I find Benedict to be SO utterly charming, while Tom chaffs at me with his dancing and his name-dropping and his general try-hard ways. I don’t detest Tom, mind you. I have absolutely nothing against him as an actor or a real person. But he doesn’t charm me in the least. Benedict, on the other hand, is a charm monster and completely mesmerizing to me.
Yeah that is basically how I feel in reverse. Maybe it’s because I’m not into Sherlock, but Cumberbatch does nada for me. I have no negative feelings about him, I just don’t care. But Tom I completely adore.

yea I’m not sure how, when or why it got started, but the first time I ever ran across the comparisons in a negative, mean-spirited way was actually in Cumberbatch posts by his fans earlier this year. They always bring him up in Cumber posts, even if he had nothing to do with the post. It baffled me, and I was a bit taken aback. I don’t even know why they keep saying Hiddles is jealous and tries to outdo Cumberbatch. Like what? lol! They’re friends. It’s so reaching. I used to like Cumberbatch too, but his fans turned me off him. I can’t even watch his stuff anymore sadly. He’s ruined to me now. I still wish him well and think he’s talented though. In all fairness, I’m sure it can be the exact reverse for former Hiddle fans who switched over to Cumberbatch’s fandom as well.
I like both actors but I am put off by the rabid fangirl fandoms that they both have. I just avoid that aspect of things as much as possible.
THIS. I can’t deal with fandoms of any kind because they get so petty and childish to the point that they diminish what makes the men special in the first place. Their war-like arguments are nauseating. Tom and Ben might actually be friends for all we know.
Actually, we do know. Both Tom and Benedict profess to be friends. Granted, that’s fairly common among former castmates, but there seems to be some genuine affection in videos of them together.
The fan stuff is silly. There’s room for them both to get parts, even if they end up competing sometimes.

Yeah, Tom name drops A LOT! I think he’s insecure. Probably doesn’t even notice he’s doing it. I would normally be annoyed by something like that, but then he is so sickeningly nice to everyone that I’m forced to forgive him.
i’ve thought for a while the name dropping is part of the shill, like – ‘look at me, studio people! i give credit to others in public forums as often as possible! it’s not all about me, other people were involved and i’m happy to name them as often as i can! i’m an altruistic team-player!’ kinda thing. but then it comes across all name-droppy and pretentious, with that look-who-i-know, one-upper, nyah nyah nyah vibe.
and he might not be looking at social media stuff that much on his personal time (or maybe he is, who knows), but certainly, in this day and age when the age-demographic to which he appeals is up to their eyeballs in social media, there is at least someone on his team/at his agency assigned to check out what the kids/fans are saying. whether it bothers him, encourages him, disgusts him or gets him off isn’t as relevant as his team, or whatever studio he’s shilling for, being aware of/having material with which to market their film/work. his personal feelings on the stuff that’s out there don’t matter as much as how the stuff that’s out there, and how he as a personality, can be marketed/exploited for that oh-so-precious bottom line. and he has to know about it because he has to walk the fine line between pretending not to know about it, but not upsetting the stans that devote so much time and effort to it. he’s gonna get asked about it anyway, his team just has to be savvy in how they handle his response/interaction. i doubt his personal feelings will ever be known.

I really hate the fake bake look on Hiddles, Fassbender, and the rest of those pale blondes and gingers. Most people can’t pull off skin tones so far from their natural coloring, and piling on the makeup just makes them look unnatural.

Flower, while you and I may disagree about whether or not Tom googles himself, I do agree with you about the fans at premieres thing. Spending 10 hours in line does not entitle one to any sort of special treatment. And that’s part of the problem I have with the whole rabid fandom thing that exists on Tumblr. They make the men they like into these perfect Disney gentlemen princes of the universe and not only is that not accurate and impossible for any human being to live up to, it sets the stage for epic disappointment the minute their too-high expectations are not met.
