    Stunning

    • Mel says:

Why did they make her look like Madonna?
      Why not just hire Madonna?

      • truthSF says:

        1. Have you ever seen Madonna act. Disney ain’t stupid…nor do they want to lose money on this project.

        2. She does not look like Madonna. She’s wearing cheek and nose prosthesis to better resemble the Maleficent cartoon character, and with half of her face hidden, we really can’t tell what she really looks like. Let’s wait until the trailer is release tomorrow to make a better judgement.

  2. Eve says:

GORGEOUS and…scary? Eh, I guess that’s the point.

    LOVE. IT.

  3. serena says:

    I can’t wait!!

  4. Janet says:

Iman just proves what we knew all along: good black don’t crack.

    • Kim1 says:

+1000 on Good Black, my Black is starting to Crack a little 🙂

      • Janet says:

Jojoba oil fixes all kinds of cracks. Put it on every night before you go to bed. Best thing in the world for your face. I’m over 50 and my black has cracked only a little bit.

      • Charlotte says:

My freakishly pasty white skin hasn’t cracked thanks to rosehip oil and rose beeswax. But now I’m going to check out jojoba too.

  5. Cecilia says:

The poster looks nothing like her & the 2nd photo looks years old. Wonder when that 2nd photo was taken. I don’t recall seeing it before.

  6. drea says:

This poster is awesome. I bet she was never even wearing that collared cloak during the shoot. That was probably added in post to pull all the attention to her eyes, and the horns. I love it.

  7. Kim1 says:

LOVE the poster and looking forward to seeing pics of AJ receiving her Oscar Saturday

  8. GeeMoney says:

    Love Angelina!

  9. Rhiley says:

I am surprised I feel this way, but I don’t think Jennifer Lawrence is an awful choice for Glass Castle. BTW, Glass Castle may be a good future selection for the Celebitchy Book Club.

  10. Original N says:

    She is absolutely gorgeous!

  11. ANDREA1 says:

Maleficent is magnificent I just can’t wait… Disney picked the right woman for this role.. Talk about the perfect choice!

  12. Gossy says:

She looks absolutely chilling and unnerving. I cannot wait for the trailer…9 AM EST tomorrow.

  13. TheOriginalKitten says:

    Who cares????
Didn’t anyone see the link to those crazy animals? Amazing!

    • V4Real says:

LOL… I’m reading all the lovely comments about AJ and as I stroll down to yours I nearly spat out my water. I love how you threw in a casual who cares…
      Yes those animals are amazing.

    • Reece says:

      Evolution at it’s finest!

    • Cecilia says:

ha ha ha!! What poster, is right!! These animals are unbelievable. WOW!

    • Kim1 says:

      Those animals were horrendous IMO

    • Tiffany :) says:

Thanks for directing our focus, TOK! They were beautiful and amazing!

    • Hakura says:

LOL! The deep-sea monstrosity that is the ‘Goblin Shark’ is going to turn up in my nightmares, holy shit. At first it looks like a horror movie prop. But from what miniscule we’ve seen of the deep sea, that’s just an appetizer to the parade of horrors down there.

Heh, before reading the names of a few, I guessed them based on what ‘combo’ of animals they looked like. (Hummingbird Moth, for example… then the one thing that looks like a skunk/porcupine hybrid… Wanted go pet the poodle moth!) The Okapi looks like the illegitimate child of a very confused Zebra & Giraffe… The Mantis Shrimp I’d seen before… Apparently they can see a range of colors we’re incapable of… the Oatmeal has a funny comic about them 🙂

The ‘Maned Wolf’ is just odd!

    • Janet says:

My favorite is the crab wearing lipstick. 🙂

That goblin shark is the stuff nightmares are made of.

      • Hakura says:

@Janet– I forgot to mention that one! it’s so weird, and I couldn’t believe it wasn’t even a crustacean… That they called a ‘fish’. (This is awful, but my first thought was that it was the ocean’s version of a transvestite street walker xD).

    • sharron says:

What’s Sean Penn doing in there ? 🙂

too much gorgeous, my head just exploded.

  15. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

Love it! A little bit scary and beautiful. Can’t wait to see the trailer.

  16. Fan says:

    Amazingly beautiful (2nd picture).

  17. lenje says:

I like the Maleficent poster! I remember when I heard for the first time that Angelina Jolie would be playing Maleficent, I thought it was incredible, because she does resemble Disney’s Maleficent (albeit it was an animated movie). It’s sort of like Zachary Quinto getting the part of Spock, not only because of the talent, but also because he looks crazily so much like Leonard Nimoy.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I do too! I also thought there was a bit of a vulnerability in the poster as well, with her hiding most of her face, and the look in her eyes.

And yes–those cheekbones, they def. resemble the original character. If this is done right, then this movie might be up there with my other absolutely favorite, all time Disney movie—Hunchback of Notre Dame. My Lord–I used to watch that movie almost every weekend. Hellfire sequence is my favorite–I wish they’d go back to doing the films like that again.

And thanks for defending me yesterday 🙂

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Virgilia Coriolanus, who wrote: “And thanks for defending me yesterday”

The fact that you’ve posted this indicates you also feel you were ‘attacked’ when i asked if you were the real Virgilia Coriolanus. Again, that was ‘not’ my intention. You just get used to the way a person/poster writes. Your syntax was just a mite different. No offense meant, but I do apologize if you were offended.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Well I just don’t like the fact that to be a JP fan, that you have to pick apart JA for everything. I don’t feel like you were attacking me per se, but just the fact that I said something semi-nice about her, was to warrant suspicion–which I do get your point that I did write a little differently–depending on my mood I might lapse in my grammar and go into some teenage text writing crap.

But that’s all. I wasn’t offended–just I don’t think we all need to pick her apart for everything. Just legitimite things–like lying about why she cut her hair (which is so stupid!).

      • Cecilia says:

@ Virgilia…you don’t have to explain yourself, Dear. It was quite clearly you writing in that thread. The above, back-peddling poster got her panties in a twist when you said something about your Aunt’s boyfriend thinking JA was hot or that she had pretty eyes. No worries. I find your comments objective & compassionate.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Virgilia Coriolanus, who wrote: “which I do get your point that I did write a little differently–depending on my mood I might lapse in my grammar and go into some teenage text writing crap.”

I have a B.A. in English and Comparative Literature and I write, so I tend to notice another writer’s ‘voice’ and syntax, if I’ve read them enough. LOL!! But you would ‘not’ want me to teach your kids grammar. 🙂 Have a great day!

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Cecilia, who wrote: ” The above, back-peddling poster got her panties in a twist when you said something about your Aunt’s boyfriend thinking JA was hot or that she had pretty eyes.”

‘Back-peddling?’ You and I ‘have’ exchanged comments before, right? Do you ‘really’ think ‘back-peddling’ is the best way to describe my posting style? Have yourself a nice day. 😉

      • Sal says:

Cecilia that attack on Emma TJPL was uncalled for.

  18. Nicolette says:

Love it! Can not wait to see this.

  19. Tig says:

Whah- THIS is who should have played Serena! Chillingly beautiful and full of me nance – instead it’s JLaw. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but she’s all wrong for that part- oh well. Looking forward to both movies.

    • Kim1 says:

AJ passed on Serena according to JLaw.She also turned down Gravity.I have a feeling she is going to focus on directing and maybe act every two or three years.

      • Tig says:

What I heard was once the original director moved on, so did she- at one point, I read she was considered “too old”- LOL! Will still see it(supposed to have sp 2014 release date) but will always wonder what could have been.

  20. Meggin says:

    That poster is gorgeous!

  21. Reece says:

Love. It. So Much. SO. MUCH.

Good I hope Beyonce does refuse to audition, then she won’t be cast in anything.

  22. Mandy says:

I haven’t been this excited about a disney movie since I was a kid! I can’t WAIT to see this. Sleeping Beauty was always my favorite movie when I was litte.

    • Maya says:

Me too – they don’t make good Disney movies like in the old days which you can see again again without ever tire of it them.

      • Hakura says:

@Maya – I agree, Re: Disney doesn’t make movies like they used to. But I did really love ‘The Princess & The frog’. It’s one of the majorly few more ‘recent’ Disney movies I went to see in theatres… I walked out talking about how much I loved it. They legitimately gave a ‘strong’ female lead with a purpose beyond royalty & a prince. But it’s one of very few I’d equate to having the ‘spirit’ of the older ones we grew up with 🙂 I always seemed to go for the ‘animal’ main character movies over the princess ones, though. (The Rescuers & The Lion King are probably my faves).

  23. Maya says:

Wow – this looks freaking amazing and Angelina looks stunningly beautiful as always – even with all the prosthesis and all. Only a truly versatile and talented actor/actress can portray all of the feelings through their eyes and Angelina is showing exactly how evil, clever, conniving, dark Maleficent truly is with just her eyes.

I loved Charlize Theron as Evil Queen in Snow White and cannot wait for Cate Blanchett as Evil Stepmother in Cinderella. But only Angelina Jolie and only her can play the mistress of all evil aka Maleficent convincingly and she will put all of the actor/actress to shame with her acting (I have no doubt about that).

  24. someone says:

I so hope Maleficient is good, as I am looking forward to seeing it. That second picture of AJ is beautiful as well.

  25. Jessica says:

    Awesome!

  26. Fatty Magoo says:

I think I’m the only one who cares about Night wing. But I hope they don’t cast that guy. The whole batman series is favorite and I feel like who ever is making these decisions absolutely hates me! I mean Ben Affleck?? And now this guy? Ugh! They really should get Steven Strait to play Night wing he would be perfect.

  27. booger says:

I’m not feeling the poster tbh. It looks overly processed and rather budget. Considering the talent involved, a lot more could have been done with it.

  28. Apples says:

Solange is GREAT and that was a very interesting article. I can’t wait to hear that compilation CD with all those different artists. Thanks for posting the link!

  29. Nan209 says:

I hope she doesn’t do another rolling bad accent – witness Alexander the Great and Beowulf

  30. kay says:

Jesus Christ!! these pictures are beautif
ul.She looks beautiful, scary and evil in the poster.I can’t wait for this movie!!!!.

  31. KellyinSeattle says:

I just am in love with their whole family; great pic.

    • Cecilia says:

OMG, Janet…I agree — and with this poster AJ actually looks like herself. Thanks for the link.

  32. lisa2 says:

Tomorrow GMA will have a sneak peek..

that poster is GORGEOUS.. but then Angie is GORGEOUS..

  33. Jackie says:

    She is so breathtakingly beautiful.

  34. Sara says:

Bangs look good on her, she should consider it again.

  35. Paige says:

    Amazing woman. Absolutely Gorgeous.

  36. lucy2 says:

That is a great poster. i don’t really care much for Angelina as an actress so I don’t know that I’ll watch the movie, but as far as advertising/artwork, it’s fantastic.

  37. Kit2 says:

“Sleeping Beauty” is by far my favourite animated Disney film, and Maleficent my favourite villain. Jolie looks amaaaaazing.

  38. Nina says:

Maleficent is my favourite Disney villainess. They better do her justice!

  39. John says:

LOL. I thought it was Madonna or Michelle Pfeiffer at first.

  40. skeptical says:

    speaking of JLaw…

    http://www.celebuzz.com/2013-11-12/jennifer-lawrence-ditches-red-carpet-to-comfort-a-crying-fan/

also.. AJ is gorgeous. I do love the old Sleeping Beauty, mostly for the fairies (esp Merriweather!) and the music. Looking forward to this prequel. Maleficent was sooo evil! Oh she planned to free the prince to go wake his love…. after he’d been chained for a few decades. “To prove True Love conquers all!”
Such a simple plan…. so evil and so simple.

  41. Faith says:

When i was in high school i made everyone call me maleficent because she was soooo evil.I’m happy that my fave actress is playing my fave disney character and i’m pretty sure she’ll do it justice.

  42. lisa2 says:

Well next year I will so be dressing up as Maleficent.. Planning my costume now..LOL

Angie is well perfect for this role. So beautiful.

    • Gossy says:

Haha, I do believe that stores will definitely be selling Maleficent costumes next year, especially if this movie becomes a big success, which it probably will.

  43. Tish says:

She’s just… out of this world.

  44. Naddie says:

Great role choice, but the pics aren’t cool; too much photoshop, I guess. And I don’t understand the character’s appeal, she’s just an envious bitch.
