Chris Brown was violent in rehab, judge orders 90-day mandatory rehab stay

Let’s start with the bad news first. Chris Brown is not going to jail. YET. Although this is California, so I guess I could have just stopped with “Chris Brown is not going to jail.” Chris Brown had a probation hearing yesterday, which had been on the books for months. Then, last month, Chris and his bodyguard put the beatdown on some guy in Washington, DC and Chris was arrested for felony assault (a charge that was later downgraded). After that incident, Chris went into “anger management rehab” in Malibu… for two weeks. Then he left. And now he’s doing “out-patient” therapy. So, that’s what his hearing was about yesterday, it was to brief the judge on the current DC charges and to see where Chris is with his new set of probation requirements. And since this is California, Chris got yet another “second” chance:

Chris Brown just got confined for 90 days … but not in jail … in rehab.

Brown and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, were just in court for a progress report in the Rihanna beating case. TMZ broke the story … the Probation Dept. notified the judge that Brown flew into yet another violent rage while he was in a Malibu rehab joint for anger management, and was thrown out of the facility after only 2 weeks. The Probation Dept. recommended live-in anger management rehab.

The judge agreed with Probation, and ordered Brown to check into a facility for 90 days, and the facility must be in L.A. County and approved by Probation.

The judge is letting Chris juggle his criminal cases and will let him fly to D.C. for court hearings on his criminal assault case. Brown must also submit to drug testing at the rehab facility. He must also take any prescriptions recommended by the rehab place.

The judge also wants a report on the D.C. incident … something that could result in Chris getting his probation yanked in the Rihanna case … which could then result in prison time.

[From TMZ]

You see TMZ’s reference to what went down during Chris’s two-week rehab stay? Yeah, I told you so. I told you that as soon as some therapist tried to ask Breezy about his feelings, Chris was going to put the beatdown on someone or something. And that’s exactly what happened. According to TMZ’s initial report, while in rehab, Chris went into a “violent rage” when he began “throwing objects and breaking them”. After the incident, the Malibu rehab wanted him out of the facility, and since he was staying there without a court order, he just left.

Then TMZ got their hands on Chris’s probation report and it says that Chris’s mom confronted him during a family therapy session and she asked him to stay in rehab for “extended treatment”. Since Breezy is a paragon of thoughtfulness, he violently disagreed with his mother and he threw a rock at her car. He threw the rock with such violence that one of the car windows shattered. That will teach Mama Breezy for saying that he needs to learn how to control his temper! Jesus take the wheel.

ridiculous, you go to rehab for anger management yet get kicked out cause you’re too angry, classy dude.

  2. lucy2 says:

Aw, the mom who covered for him and lied about his community service too. Is that anyway to treat your enablers?
The whole “I’m so good, I’m doing preemptive rehab so you don’t need to send me to jail” thing doesn’t work if you get tossed out for violence.

    • Stef Leppard says:

      Except when it does work.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

…but Lucy’s right-it DOESN’T EVER work when you get thrown out of the treatment center.

This guy has some very serious rage issues. He strikes me as a ticking time bomb. The scariest part is he doesn’t seem to recognize his issues or have any real intention of changing…

      • Stef Leppard says:

O.Kitt– My point is that he went to preemptive rehab and did NOT have to go to jail, and he STILL isn’t going to jail. Smh.

      • doofus says:

TOK, I agree…it’s only a matter of time before he snaps and kills someone.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        @Stef-oh ok, I gotcha and I agree!

      • Tiffany :) says:

“My point is that he went to preemptive rehab and did NOT have to go to jail, and he STILL isn’t going to jail”

I should know better than to get my hopes up, but…
Just because he isn’t in jail now doesn’t mean that his violent outburst and destruction of propety at the rehab facility and the D.C. incident won’t be considered a probation violation. He *might* still go to jail for breaking his probation because of these things.

  3. tifzlan says:

Something is seriously wrong with him. I can’t believe he threw a rock at his own mother’s car just because she wanted him to deal with his issues and stay in rehab longer. This is the woman who defended him throughout the whole Rihanna debacle too (not saying that i agree with what she did). Can we just make him stay in rehab forever?

    • Debbie says:

And let’s not forget, just after the whole Rihanna thing, he spoke so [sarcastic voice] movingly [/sarcastic voice] about how he was disappointed in himself because, growing up, he saw his mother being beaten and never wanted to be that person.

      • tifzlan says:

Oh my gosh, that’s true! He did say that! Seriously, there is something very, very wrong with him and i completely agree with the assessment that it’s only a matter of time before he kills someone – accidentally or otherwise.

  4. MrsBPitt says:

How ironic that CB goes to rehab for anger, yet gets kicked out for displaying anger…this dude is seriously going to kill someone someday, unless he gets himself together…

    • Snazzy says:

you are exactly right – they are going to keep letting him off because he’s rich and famous, then he’ll kill someone. And then he can go and hide out in France because he’s an ARTist.

Ok obviously I don’t want that to happen (the killing someone part, I mean) but I have a feeling that’s the only way the justice system will react.

      • Florc says:

He’s going to kill someone. And it’ll likely be out of pure rage. And he will probably walk for it too. We complain about celebs and whatnot here, but this man is dangerous.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, I think it is only a matter of time before he seriously injures someone AGAIN.

  5. Anna says:

throwing a rock at his mum’s car should’ve been a big indication to the courts that jail is the only thing that may help him this time.
I don’t think violence is the answer, but I’m sure if he went to a prison in California and tried to act all “big and bad” like he normally does, the other prisoners will give him a rude awakening and he’ll realize he’s not untouchable or invincible.

  6. LadyMTL says:

Jesus take the wheel…and drive CB into a river or something. This guy is beyond ridiculous, and California is ridiculous for giving him 105 “second chances.”

    • Erinn says:

We can thank his mother for a lot of this. She was suuuuch an enabler, and if I recall correctly she would even fight on twitter with people following the Rhianna beating, claiming what a saint her son was. Wonder if her tune has changed now that he threw a rock through her window?

      • janie says:

Wow! Who thows a rock at their mom’s car? What is wrong with this maniac? It make me wonder if he’s put his hands on his mom or girlfriend? Let’s see how long he lasts in rehab?

      • Erinn says:

        @Janie
I think he had a rough childhood, which isn’t really an excuse. But I believe his mother was in a violent relationship, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of that violence pooled over onto Chris. Still, it’s telling when he’s even lashing out at the usual enablers.

  7. Moec1 says:

How many people does this POS have to hurt before he gets thrown in jail??!?!

  8. Kiddo says:

    What a rock star!

  9. Patricia says:

For the first time EVER I feel bad for this guy. He must have had some trauma or something, there is something very very wrong with him. He is a danger to others and probably himself. It’s better for him to be in rehab than jail if he is really this mentally ill. I can’t believe I am feeling sympathy for this monster but really, imagine how miserable he must be inside. There is no excuse for what he does, his behavior is despicable to say the least.

    • NerdMomma says:

You are right, though. Not long ago he gave an interview that exposed some things that sounded pretty traumatic. As in, many of us read it that he had been sexually abused by an older teenage girl while he was still a child, and didn’t sound like he’d dealt with that in a healthy way. Frankly that also exposed what sounded like parental neglect. There are reasons he has so much anger, and if people would stop enabling him and help him, he might be able to truly get better.

      • Kim1 says:

Also he was exposed to porn when he was a little boy .The sexual abuse, the domestic violence, the enabling, Show biz has created a monster

    • Erinn says:

Me too. I don’t feel sorry for the way he’s choosing to react, but I feel sorry that he had such a shitty childhood. It’s clearly affected him deeply. As much of an asshole as he is, it would be nice if he could get REAL help.

      • BaronessOrczy says:

Yes I agree. It sounds like he had a traumatic childhood. It takes a lot more than two weeks and a luxury rehab center to work through that. I think the court is handling it appropriately. If he fails at this next opportunity, no doubt he will go to jail.

  10. feebee says:

I don’t care where he goes. Any confinement at all is fine with me at this point. I don’t think this will “help” him. I think it’s going to take a stint in the pokey with some men who are genuinely angry with the world to maybe fix this guy.

  11. swack says:

So the story that came out about him also getting out of rehab to be able to start his community service was also a fabrication? He needs a reality check and hasn’t gotten it yet.

  12. eliza says:

Well duh, this is the same freakazoid douche bag who flew into a crazy rage on GMA with Robyn Roberts. He is like a rabid dog.

  13. anoneemouse says:

Poor rehab workers that will have to deal with this mess. Hope they don’t get punched. Jail would be the better lesson for him.

  14. Jaded says:

You know when he first went to rehab I joked that the counsellors were probably so afraid of him they treated him from behind a plexi-glass panel, like in jail. Then I said they probably locked him in a room with a copy of “Learn To Control Your Anger”. Well I guess I shouldn’t joke anymore ’cause dude needs therapy, medication, meditation, exorcism and God knows what else to deal with his violence issues. I do feel sad as he’ll probably end up either hurting someone REALLY badly or at worst killing them.

  15. grayze says:

He has the worst and scariest kind of anger problem.

I remember having an uncle who, over the smallest, sometimes nonexistent slights, would just EXPLODE – he’d go from calm and laughing to red-faced, spit-flying-everywhere screaming. He’d hit things apropos of nothing. People knew when the storm hit to get out of the way.

It’s really terrifying. And when that kind of anger hits, no one – not even the best most encouraging enablers on the planet, like his Mom – are safe from it. He’s like a freaking tornado of violence and bad choices.

  16. nicegirl says:

I have no excuses for Chris Brown.

However – sometimes (child) abusers develop into enablers. It sucks.

  17. Lisa says:

I thought he was wearing a hat with my name on it, and was not happy.

  18. d says:

Not that I don’t believe CB has a temper, but I’m trying to picture how the rock went through a window during a counselling session. Were they indoors or outdoors? Did he run out of the room, happen to find a random rock and threw at the first car he saw? Do they have rocks in counselling sessions? It’s just a really weird part of the story.
