Reese Witherspoon shows off her new bob haircut: is she copying Jennifer Aniston?

FFN_Witherspoon_Reese_STOI_120313_51277101

Here are some new photos of Reese Witherspoon in her workout gear yesterday in LA. Does anyone know what kind of sneakers she’s wearing? Those are cute. Over the past year, I’ve been on a New Balance phase, and while they are the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever had, they wear out really quickly. I don’t think I’ve been able to keep a pair for longer than three months without something on at least one of the shoes falling apart. I had to walk away from the Nike brand, but not because of Yeezus West. I just found Nike kicks to be increasingly uncomfortable. I’m accepting suggestions!

Anyway, Reese is showing off her new haircut in these pics. I think she chopped off her hair into this bob over the Thanksgiving holiday. I didn’t even notice her hair at first because… is Reese really known for her hair? Her hair is never bad (sometimes the styling isn’t all that) but do women go into their hairdresser’s salon and say “I want Reese’s hair”? I’m really asking. When she’s blonde, she’s usually this same medium blonde, never too platinum, never too ashy. The length of her hair usually varies between this bob-length and just below her shoulders. Plus, her haircuts never really change her “look” very dramatically. All of which means that I barely noticed the haircut, but now that I see it, it looks fine. If I had to change one thing… I’d get ride of the sideswept bangs. Unnecessary, in my opinion.

People are already noting that Reese seems to be following Jennifer Aniston’s lead with this haircut – but Aniston had to cut off her hair after a chemical process became a disaster. But it wouldn’t surprise me if Jennifer and Reese (and their stylists) are in cahoots, trying to make bobs “the new look” for 2014. HOW EDGY!

PS… Reese has a really cute butt. I wish my butt looked like that in spandex.

    Asics DS Trainers.

I work in the running biz 🙂

    • Thanks says:

Thanks, cmc! First time commenter, have loved this blog forever! Found the exact shoes here: Asics GEL-NEO33™ 2 (http://www.asicsamerica.com/Shop/Footwear/Running/Womens/GEL-Neo33%C2%99-2/p/0010145626.3791?shoeWidthCode=standard)

      • nora says:

hello I’m doing Running Asics for several years and it’s really the best brand everything else it’s really just marketing
ps, I live in France and I love this site

      • Thinker says:

Yes!! I’m another Asics fan here. I’d never go back to any other brand now that I’ve found Asics.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I was strictly Asics for 10 years and just switched to Saucony a year and a half ago. I do not regret my decision one bit.

HATED the direction Asics were going with their stability sneakers, plus I was ripping through the mesh (not unusual if you overpronate) way too quickly on my Asics. Just too costly in the long run, given the fact that the quality was deteriorating.

    • Esmom says:

I wore Asics similar to Reese’s for years and regretfully just switched to Nike (after vowing never to wear Nike again). Somehow I developed a supination problem when running and wore out the outside edges of the shoes really fast. This contributed to misalignment, shin splints and knee problems, which after more than two months of lots of rest I’m still trying to get rid of. I seem to have better stability with the Nikes so far.

I’ve also had good luck with Mizunos, which a running shoe store originally fitted me with years ago, and New Balance. With my new knee issues, though, I’m back at square one in figuring out which brand will ultimately be the best.

      • cmc says:

I’ve been wearing the Mizuno Sayonaras for a few months and they might be a good option for you. They’re a pretty unstructured, neutral shoe and shouldn’t trigger additional supination (they don’t have a medial post). Try em? And good luck!

      • Esmom says:

@cmc, Thank you! I can’t remember why I even stopped wearing Mizunos in the first place. I’m guessing I found a cheaper option that I thought it would be OK. I know that can be a mistake. Time to try them again!

    • khaveman says:

ASICS for life. Great shoes. I love the purple.

    • Jacqueline says:

Asics GT2000 are my forever shoe

    • Falula says:

Asics for me, too. I have a fairly wide foot and New Balance used to be my go-to but I agree that they wear out quickly.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

So do I and I’m telling you, Saucony sneaks have the widest toebox I’ve ever seen on a running sneaker.

    • holly hobby says:

Saucony should be ok. The are manufactured by the people who make Stride Rite for kids.

      • MollyB says:

My toddler daughter wears kids Sauconys (in lime green). We get lots of compliments and she’s able to put them on herself.

    • yoyoree says:

Ha! I’m wearing these exact shoes right now…and am about to go for a run. I noticed them, too.

  2. epiphany says:

Yes, because Jennifer Aniston, along with her many other triumphs both on and off the screen, invented the hairstyle known as the bob. I understand she also drew up the original plans for the wheel, and executed the first successful slicing of bread.

    • lady mary. says:

      he he ,good one!

    • Frida_K says:

Wait…didn’t she also invent the internets too?

    • Bex says:

I was going to comment something similar but not nearly as well! Geez, it’s a bob. It is so not an Aniston.

      • Maya says:

        Definitely not an Aniston.

Pulling an Aniston is when every single relationship you have been in breaks down and it is always the other person’s fault and never your own.

Pulling an Aniston means that you strip of your clothes on screen to get recognition and attention even after having been in the industry for more than 2 decades.

Pulling an Aniston means that you are one of the vainest person in Hollywood and cannot talk about anything else except yourself.

Pulling an Aniston means that you get your friends to attack your exes current partners and their children.

    • Nicolette says:

      LOL!

    • Moiselle says:

Lmao. At my hair appointment tomorrow I shall be getting a fresh bob. Believe you me it’s not because of Jennifer Aniston.

      • mimi says:

I had to laugh at the title of this story. Reese is a 37-year-old woman who should be able to get a haircut without being accused of “copying” Jennifer Anison’s latest cut! This isn’t middle school where you might expect to see such behavior. LoL

I thought Reese’s new, shorter, non fussy hairstyle was for a role she’s currently filming where she plays a hiker. Or maybe she just wanted a hair change for personal reasons. Actually, Reese’s new haircut looks nothing like Jennifer Aniston’s. I think Reese’s hair looks like a shorter version of her original hairstyle. It’s not really a big change for her.

    • Camille (TheOriginal) says:

      lol! 🙂

    • Sal says:

PMSL 😀 +100,000 You know that’s what her fans think.

    • michele says:

This! You are hilarious and yes the boring JEN HENS believe that she did this and more.

  3. Elisabeth says:

that whole arrest rant ‘don’t you know who I am’ really took the shine off her for me.

    • Happyhat says:

Ditto! Don’t care for her anymore, unless I’m watching Election or Legally Blond or Walk the Line.

    • CL says:

I live near Atlanta, and every time I drive past the parking lot where they were arrested, I think, “Oh, look, that’s where Reese W. let her drunk sorority girl out!”

    • Camille (TheOriginal) says:

She lost me as a fan once she started chumming up with the Chelsea whatsherface Bunch. The arrest business was the final nail in the coffin for me too.

  4. Nikki says:

Kaiser I too found Nike uncomfortable. I love shape-ups by sketchers, can’t live without them now!!!!

  5. Seriously?! says:

Google back a couple years and you’ll see that Reese has had this haircut before, side-swept bangs and all.

    • Nicolette says:

She had this cut when she made “Sweet Home Alabama” as well. I like it on her, she looks cute.

  6. blue marie says:

I think Reese has had the haircut longer than Thanksgiving? I’m too lazy to google, but I don’t think it’s new.

I had to quit using Nike as well because every time I would jog with them the middle of my foot would hurt for a while, like they weren’t getting proper support. I use New Balance as well, but just buy new ones when they wear out.

  7. eliza says:

So over this insufferable tw#t. Why she even gets parts is beyond me. Her best work is behind her along with her cuteness.

  8. Pam246 says:

Reese had this hairstyle before. I also chuckled at the claim Jennifer started the bob trend when it isn’t even a trend. For years a lot of people including celebrities have the same style.

  9. klue says:

I expect Chelsea Handler’ll be next to cut her hair. Got to keep up with the queen

  10. Rhiley says:

I run about 35 miles a week and was loyal to Asics for years. However, I discovered Mizunos and absolutely love them. Great colors and they hold up very very well. I also have a pair of NBs but they are mostly my knocking around shoes.

    • AJ says:

Yes mizuno’s! I just discovered them too and love them. I was an adidas wearing for years, but I felt the quality has declined. NB don’t work for me at all…and I used to work for then and hated feeling obligated to wear them.

  11. Len says:

Mizunos. I used to love ascics until I was fitted for my foot type in Mizunos. I will NEVER go back. And my current pair have last me almost 2years.

  12. Lenna says:

Saucony Cohesion Grids for years, I’ve run many races/half marathons in them. When i need a new pair I just get the same ones usually in a newer version.

  13. Samtha says:

Didn’t she cut her hair into a bob several months back? It seems like there was a post about it here. Reese has definitely had her hair like this before.

  14. BeckyR says:

    One word: SUPERGA!

  15. Henny says:

She’s a sad excuse of a person. Why do people still like her?

  16. Nicolette says:

On the sneaker subject, I can’t find one that lasts and that’s really comfortable anymore. Sketcher’s were a favorite, but they are no where near as comfy to me as they used to be, and their quality isn’t as good. Used to love Keds in the summer, but they start wearing down really quick now. Always on the hunt for something new.

  17. Becks says:

Asics. Either the GT 200 or the Kayanos. I. A runner and I love Asics !

  18. lucy2 says:

I got my hair cut in a similar way weeks before both of them, so clearly they’re copying me.

    • Butterfly J says:

I was just about to write the same thing. I got THIS EXACT haircut in July. Copy cats, all of them… they love my “mom hair”. 😉

  19. Julie White says:

    Best running shoes ever:
    http://www.brooksrunning.com/Brooks-Launch-Womens-Lightweight-Trainer/1200601B486.060,default,pd.html?start=9&cgid=womens-runningshoes-bestsellers

I also could not wear Nike because of comfort issues. I went to this running store where they watched me run on a treadmill and then told me which shoes to buy. It was really quite interesting, but they were right!

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Nike makes absolutely awful running sneakers. Great if you want shin splints though.

    • DarleneLove says:

Totally agree with Brooks. Wore Brooks adrenaline for years and years and now wear one of their more minimalist shoes and absolutely adore them.

  20. Azurea says:

It’s amusing that most of the comments on this post are about running shoes, not Reese!

  21. themummy says:

A bob is one of the most common haircuts. It’s is not original or unique or in any way specific to ANYONE who gets it. Jen doesn’t own bobs, didn’t invent bobs, and no one else who gets one is copying her. That’s no different than choosing a celeb who has long hair, finding another celeb who has grown her hair out, and saying she copied the first celeb…even though BILLIONS of women on earth have long hair. Same with Bobs. Or choosing a celeb who is wearing a bracelet and saying another celeb who is wearing a bracelet is copying her. Hell, let’s also do that with pants. Sally is wearing pants. Amy is also wearing pants! Amy is a pants copier!! Unoriginal! Amy must WANT to BE Sally since she clearly copied her by wearing pants. I drove my car this morning and I saw a bunch of other people in cars. I don’t know who is the copier (me??), but someone is COPYING!!! What about breathing? I was breathing this morning and noticed some bitch had the nerve to copy me and also breathe. The nerve. Seriously. I know I’m older than that other breathing lady, so I know she copied me. I did it first.

Plus, Reese cut her hair into a bob before Jen did. And she’s had this haircut numerous times before. As have many, many others.

    Really stupid headline.

  22. shannon says:

She’s wearing Asics. I wore them for several years and found them to be too clunky after discovering Mizuno’s. I wear the Inspire and don’t think I’ll ever wear anything else unless they go through a drastic change, which a lot of running shoes do. I also wear Brooks Pure Cadence. Love ’em. As for Reese, she has the craziest b*tchface of all time.

  23. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Did Reese first tell Elle that she destroyed her hair with a Brazilian, and then tell E! that she was bored and wanted a change? Fishbowl indeed–see ladies, that’s what happens when you go to New York to live….the fame follows you back to LA, and EVERYONE copies you.

    *smiles innocently*

  24. GirlyGirl says:

    Copying Aniston?

If she goes on to appear in 8 or 9 screen bombs in a row, you may be right.

    Aniston Shmaniston, she’s boring.

  25. The Original G says:

We haven’t really seen Jen’s full haircut yet? And she’s only the last of two dozen celeb who ditched their extensions and cut their hair in the last year.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Nope. For what its worth, I think short hair looks WAY better on Jennifer–just from the Thanksgiving picture, her hair looked a lot softer and healthier than it usually does. But its the same bs with her engagement ring roll out. Who ANNOUNCES their engagement, and then spends the next 2-3 months hiding their engagement ring hand in their pocket every time they see a camera? Same thing with her haircut–between the two stories that she told about why she cut it, and the tucking her hair back in pictures–I don’t understand it.

And I do think she’ll put the extensions back in. I remember, about a year or more ago, when she came out with that Living Proof hair care line. And we were all laughing at her, because she said in the interview promoting the line that she did it because her hair was thinning out because of EXTENSIONS. So like Pippa’s Ass of Lies, Jennifer had a Hair of Lies–all that crap about how amazing and thick her hair looked–it wasn’t even hers. And then she had the promotion of Just Go With It (when she had that angled bob that I really liked on her), and then after that she put the extensions back in.

Maybe it’s just because my hair is soo thick, but I wouldn’t ever put extensions in. I would rather work with what I have, or wear a wig–nothing that’s going to yank my hairline back. Jen’s lucky she isn’t going bald like Naomi C.

  26. Emily Carter says:

I actually always use Reese as my haircut inspiration – because we have similar hair textures and she rarely has a “Hollywood” hair cut that requires a million hours of prep. For a normal person, her cuts are great because they are cute and very manageable. I laughed when I saw this pic bc I thought “I’m probably totally going to chop my hair off now.”

  27. Sayrah says:

Lol, well I got a bob 3 months ago so they must both be copying me since no one else has ever had a hairstyle like that

  28. umyeah says:

She is really not likeable. She puts on a good show for the public, but her real persona is like when she got arrested. That’s her true nature shining through.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Yeah, between the stories about how she is a total beyotch, and that video—her true nature does shine through. Because I don’t care how tipsy/drunk I am, I never would’ve acted like that. I’d be the one who would be simultaneously crying and trying to keep my head down–and it’s not even that video that sealed the deal for me. It was that hat–Atlanta PD–that she wore in the airport, after she and her husband were arrested. I mean, really? That’s on par with Julia Roberts’ ‘A Low Vera’ tshirt.

  29. LahdidahBaby says:

Would someone please explain to me why I can’t stand Reese Witherspoon? I mean since forever, not just since the Don’t-you-know-who-I-am débâcle. Cannnnnnot STAND her. Thank you.

  30. ann h says:

Chelsea Handler just got a shorter haircut. When MISS HOTNESS (and don’t you forget it), Reese (who everybody Must know her name) and Chelsea (no need to explain) get together, people must think the’re seeing triple when they seen these drunken, loud mouth mean girls together.
What a perfect trio they all make.

  31. kris says:

Sorry Laura Jean Poon, but your new hair do does nothing to soften or minimize that jay leno-esque chin. Try again.

  32. missespresso says:

Hold your bloody bag with your hand for once, lady. You don’t live in the sixties, you’re not as elegant as you think you are any way and your poor arm will thank you one day.

  33. DesertReal says:

Edgy? Really? Um…I hate to burst everyone’s bubble here… But chica has a straight up mommy-cut. Her & Aniston can ride that soccer mom train all they want to, but I for one, shall not be joining them.

    *drops mic*

  34. original me says:

Reese Witherspoon has had this Supercut for a while, since way before Jennifer Aniston. It would be impossible for RW to be copying JA unless something went awry with the space time continuum. It’s sad, I know, but I already ranted on Celebitchy ages ago about this awful Fantastic Sam’s hairdo.

  35. Moi says:

I’ve had an asymmetrical bob for over a year now, it’s the best. Not trying to be edgy, but it is a cool cut. However I will be kind of bummed if everyone starts doing it now.
