There’s a new crowd-funded documentary about Michael Jackson in the works that features interviews with his family, including his three children: Prince, 16, Paris, 13, and Blanket, 11. The film is called Remembering Michael, and it’s being executive produced by his mother, Katherine Jackson. There’s a trailer up on the donation page (also posted above), with the full film due to be released in 43 days. So far they’ve raised less than $4,000 out of a $3.2 million goal. $3.2 million, really? As if this family needs that much money for a documentary. It sounds like a cash grab. The FAQ states that the film will be completed regardless of whether or not the goal is reached, and that all donations will go toward the film.
Michael Jackson worked hard to limit his kids’ exposure in the media and I’m sure he would not approve of them being interviewed in this film. So that’s why I find it especially creepy that Joe Jackson is hoping to turn Michael’s youngest child, Blanket, 11, into the next big Jackson star. In the trailer for Remembering Michael, Joe claims that Blanket is the next Michael Jackson, “he just has to be trained. The kid is the spitting image of Michael when Michael was smaller.”
Radar reports that Joe saw a psychic who told him that Blanket “is going to be the biggest entertainer in the world.” In the trailer, Joe says a psychic told him Michael was going to be the biggest entertainer. You can see that Joe wants to make Blanket into a little money maker though, and that’s creepy as hell. Hopefully he won’t be able to get his hands on that poor kid.
I came away from that trailer feeling bad for Michael’s kids. It doesn’t seem like a tribute to him, but more like a way to exploit his memory to make money. That said, Blanket is super cute and concerned about animals while Paris seems very sweet. I especially liked hearing what they had to say about not knowing that their dad was famous, but it also brought it home to me how much things have changed for them since their dad died. The Jacksons have brought these kids into the fold and that includes making them famous and maybe even making Blanket a little star. I hope Joe Jackson is just delusional and that never happens. At least Katherine seems to know that it would be a bad idea. She said that she doesn’t want Paris to be an actress.

Blanket is NOT the spitting image of Michael Jackson when he was young! I was a huge Jackson 5 fan, waaaaaaaaay back in the day. Blanket looks like what MJ was trying to turn his face into, before he went overboard with the plastic surgery. I feel badly for these poor kids! Also, are the Jacksons so broke that they will turn over any stone, in MJ’s name, to make a buck??
I came here to say exactly that. I think Blanket is of Indian origin anyway. He’s a very nice looking child, but Michael he is not. I heard him speak on tv last night and he might’ve just had a bad cold, but he sounded to me like my little cousin and niece, who had very bad sinus problems and had to have surgery to clear it up. Can’t sing with sinuses like that.
Strangely enough all the great female singers I know have really nasally speaking voices.
Why does he have any saying in what these kids should do? He was bad enough as a father for his own children. I think all the problem MJ had in his life were all due to an abusive and greedy father.

And his talent was in his singing and dancing not his ever changing face. “Looking” like Michael, which he doesn’t at all, would be meaningless without at least some of his father’s great talent.
I just feel so bad for those kids. Their whole life and identity is basically a lie. As for Joe he is among the worst of the worst when it comes to parents. Talk about whoring out your children, PMK has nothing on Joe Jackson she just has less talented children. And his wife just sat back and let it all be, so she really isn’t any better, just lower key about it.

Joe Jackson destroyed Michael early on. I’ve always blamed him for Michael’s – for lack of a better word – weirdness. He was (and probably still is) abusive. He lived off of Michael’s earnings, he got used to the high life. Now that Michael is gone he needs a new source of income. He should not be allowed anywhere near those children. For that matter, his other sons aren’t really any better.

I feel so sorry for that children, they, literally, can’t trust anyone, because all their “family” wants from them is Michael’s money. I hope they will be able to get faaar away from them as soon as they get in age.
Of all the kids, Blanket is the one who looks like he’d rather be anywhere else than in the spotlight. When they are at events, he rarely smiles. Why can’t they just let these kids be kids and allow them to choose their own path? Sheesh!
My issue has always been that it’s easy, for obvious reasons, to blame Joe. Yes he’s a greedy horrible disgusting human, but I am beyond fed up with KATHERINE. She stayed with Joe forever, had a mini tribe of kids, & even after Michael made it huge & I’m sure would have gladly paid for her to leave Joe – she stayed. Who else do you think is dragging out this wrongful death crap & allowing Joe access?!? Katherine should have never been given custody at 80 y/o & with her terrible parenting record. Seriously, which one of the tribe of kids doesn’t have major issues?
I’m glad someone brought this up–people always feel bad for her or ignore the quetionable things she does, but she comes across as extremely weak when she should’ve had her kids best interest at heart. And it also make me begin to think that maybe she isn’t so innocent and kind of let Joe take the majority of the flack(which he does deserve a good portion of) as long as she was taken care of. People always bring up the fact that Michael clearly cared about her a lot, but looking at the people surrounding him what else was he supposed to do–who else was there?
I get what you’re saying, but Joe was (and probably still is) an abusive man. Not all the women have the strenght to escape from such a situation, so I don’t feel right to bash Catherine.
I think she’s played out her poor abused lamb card (no, I don’t make light of abuse). Katherine had full custody of MJ’s kids & control of his estate – I believe the main condition of that was Joe was not aloud to be a part of it. In other words, there is NO REASON Joe should see, be around, or have a say so about anything child or estate related UNLESS Katherine is allowing it.

Assuming Blanket is MJ’s biological child, I am sure he might have some of the same gifts as his father. But what harm would there be in, oh, I don’t know, letting the kid finish his childhood and education and then decide on his own if he’d like to become a musician?

Let kids be kids. Making children a meal ticket is not a good idea. The adults will often say the child “wanted” to act, perform, etc., but I wonder how much of it is trying to win adult approval.
While I don’t think Blanket is the spitting image of Michael, he is probably the closest in resemblance. Plus he’s still young enough to be “trained” (controlled) and probably generate the most interest. I wish all three kids could CHOOSE what they want to do and not be surrounded by money grubbers.
