Justin Bieber’s manager: ‘He fights to be normal, he’s not allowed to be normal’

Justin Bieber

These are photos of Justin Bieber at his Believe movie premiere in LA. He looks like a total tool in these photos with his manager, Scooter Braun, and mentor, Usher. The movie comes out on Christmas Day stateside, and I’m hoping that Biebs’ plummeting concert ticket prices are an indication of how well the film will do. Maybe Bieber will be forced into early retirement if you know what I mean. Poor little crying underdog might have to find another way to support his extravagant lifestyle.

Scooter Braun has let us all know how he’s worried about his golden goose. He’s admitted that he cannot control Bieber. Braun even says he stays awake every night just waiting for a phone call with bad news. Now Scooter has talked with Ryan Seacrest about how he’d really like Bieber to take a break. As if that would keep him out of trouble, right? That would only mean more time to pee in restaurant buckets. Scooter thinks the press has blown his client’s behavior completely out of proportion. Okay:

On Believe‘s conception: “We decided this movie, we did it independently, that we’d show the concert, we’re not really gonna make it into a big movie. Then over the last nine months Justin got into trouble sometimes, a few times. We started seeing this thing going on with the press, that over and over again they could get away with anything and there’s a point where you can’t respond to every single rumour so we just had to let it go.”

Believe will solve Bieber’s media problems: “We decided with this movie we’re just going to address it all at once. We had our director John Chu actually sit down with Justin, he did a three hour sit down interview with him where he asked him really hard questions. Questions like ‘people think you’re the next train wreck, how do you respond?'”

Believe compared to Bieber’s first movie, Never Say Never: “We’ve made a family movie in that the last one represented hope and this one we show how you respond to adversity and getting knocked down.”

Scooter wants Bieber to take time off: “I’m telling him after this movie, I want him to take next year off and just take a break. He can still live in the studio and work on the next album, which is what he wants to do, but I just want him to take some time to himself, so he can have that time alone cause he’s been working since he was 12 years old. He said, ‘losing my childhood, losing the time I have with my family and my friends is not worth it unless I give you the best I can be.’ He wants to go for it because what he’s given up already, he can’t justify losing all that unless he gets to the top. And that’s why he works as hard as hard as he does.”

On Bieber’s future as an artist: “He needs to decide where he goes from here, he has all the tools. He’s fighting with really wanting to be normal but then also the response is that he’s not allowed to be normal.”

[From RyanSeacrest.com]

I don’t see how Scooter thinks the press is trying to “get away with everything” when they are simply reporting the facts. Pee-gate really happened. Bieber did in fact stumble out of a brothel in Brazil. And so on. If Bieber was truly fighting to be “normal,” then he’d behave like a human being. At least Scooter is in favor of Bieber taking a break, but that won’t help Justin get his act together.

Bieber’s mom, Patti Mallette, showed up to support her son at the premiere. Is that a bandage dress?

Well, it looks like young Mr. Bieber got his elegant sense of style from his mother. Isn’t that sweet?

    Bless their hearts.

    • Willa says:

Yup! She thinks she looks sexy but she really looks sloppy (hair & makeup) and he thinks he looks manly which is a joke.Their combined looks are awful.

    • LadyMTL says:

I just can’t get past his radioactive white shoes from the first pic. I think they’ve burned my retinas.

      • Dani says:

Ugh the shoes are actually really nice! They’re Ferragamo, my husband has them in black and they’re really sharp. Maybe not in white but in black and royal blue they’re gorgeous.

      • Anna says:

HAHAHAHAHHAHAA. That was exactly my thought too, that they looked radioactive. like Professor X or Magneto had created them.

His mum looks horrid.. I think she’s trying to be a “hot, hip mum”.. I wonder if this is what Kris Jenner will wear next

      • Bryan says:

Yow! I hope Baby Bieber doesn’t try tooth whitener.

  2. Penny says:

How is he even still a thing? By now all his fans should have outgrown him or at least have moved onto One Direction. Who’s actually buying his stuff these days? I work with tweens and young teenagers, and none of them would be caught dead with anything related to Bieber, so what’s his market these days?

  3. Tapioca says:

When did being called out for your douchenozzle behaviour suddenly become “adversity”?!! It doesn’t count if it’s self-inflicted.

My favourite guy in the line-up is the one on the far left in the tie, as he’s the only one who looks suitably embarrassed to be there…

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I know. That part made me ill. *how you respond to adversity and getting knocked down.* Poor baby, just because you called one of your teenage fan girls a beached whale and urinated in a restaurant bucket so the staff had to clean it up, people actually criticize you! How unfair. Please.

      • QQ says:

Ok?! at this rate of victimhood i almost am expecting Jesus to come down from the cross hand him the nails and point him out so he can take a couple shifts at the cross…this jackass and his enablers really need to chill

      • Shaz says:

Yep, he belongs in a box.

    • MavenTheFirst says:

      Poor little victim.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Your comment perfectly sums it up!

  4. Patricia says:

Oh boohoo poor little sad Bieber. You want to be normal? Do you know how much money a normal 19 year old makes? Yeah, there’s no way you want to be normal.

    • Secret Squirrel says:

To be fair (and I’m no Bieber fan I assure you), everyone around him was so keen to jump on board and enjoy the good times with him that I don’t think a single person in his life has even tried to prepare him for the day the final fans disappear and the ride is over. It is happening now and Biebs is understandably confused about what he should be doing and who he should be listening to. Maybe if he disappeared for a few years then came back with more maturity and insight and less Scooter and streetwalker mom, he could redeem some of his stupidness from now.

  5. blue marie says:

Did Beiber’s uncle Eddie give him those shoes? He looks like a douche and so does his manager who just happened to call into the radio station I listen to.. I turned the volume down.

  6. bowers says:

    1. He’s never going to be “normal.”
    2. He is not in touch with reality,
    3. He’ll never know who his friends are.
Money is just going to have to be a substitute.

    • Stephanie says:

Spot on. I agree with the other posters who say its not adversity if it’s self-inflicted but stupidity.

      • Shannon1972 says:

What if we are watching a young celebrity meltdown in real time? A lot of assumptions are being made about his quality of life. His bad behavior is only escalating and becoming more outrageous. Sound familiar?
We’ve seen it before, quite recently.

  7. Simmie says:

This, and Bieber’s last statement about how people forget that he’s just a human guy, are hilarious. Yeah, your client’s bratty, entitled, immature behavior has nothing to do with how he’s treated at all.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I can’t handle the hypocrisy of him begging to be treated like a human being, while he simultaneously shows NO regard for other human beings on the planet.

Whether he is speeding through residential neighborhoods, going over 100 MPH on the freeway, supporting the sex trade industry, spitting on neighbors and unsuspecting hotel guests, making fans wait for hours for his shows….he has shown REPEATEDLY that he doesn’t want to treat others humanely.

  8. Blannie says:

Bieber’s so thug. Bwahahahahahahahahaha. What an idiot.

  9. Sea Dragon says:

His mom has a great figure but that dress is just one step up from working the streets.

    • Sea Dragon says:

…and Douchey McDouche looks like her pimp.

    • MonkSolo says:

He seems to be hover handing her. not sure what to make of that.

    • I Choose Me says:

Um what? I get the hate for Bieber, his assholish behaviour is well documented but I don’t get denigrating his mom’s decision to wear a sexy dress. One step up from working the streets? Exaggerate much?

      • Leila in wunderland says:

Exactly. Can we drop this medieval, sex-negative, slut-shaming little Madonna/whore dichotomy? There’s no such thing as clothing that sex workers are supposed to wear and clothing that non-sex workers are supposed to wear. Anyone can like whatever outfit they like and wear whatever they want.

      • Just Me says:

        THIS.

      • MonkSolo says:

Actually if you think about it, Bieber is kind of a gigolo for early teen sexual fantasies.

      • Sea Dragon says:

        Interesting reaction.

When I made the comment I didn’t separate the woman from her dress. It’s her behavior that colored my negativity. And it’s actually the other way around: figuratively speaking, she’s one half of the two (scooter being the other) main individuals pimping this kid and reveling in the attention he receives. She condones it and even goes so far as to make excuses for him.

I understand that people are extremely sensitive about slut shaming and imho, that’s as it should be. At times though, it’s important to look at the whole person.

Would it have been more accurate to say she looks as if she’s about to go clubbing? Yes. Was I highly critical of his mom’s attire? Yup. I insulted her physical appearance specifically because her attitude and behavior make her look ugly.

And what about the criticism when Courtney Sodden dresses as if she’s a porn star? People approve of denigrating her choice of clothing and go so far as to criticize her body in any way that comes to mind and it’s accepted. It sickens me because I look at her as a victim. But Bieber’mom is no victim.

      • bettyrose says:

Sea Dragon – I took your comment for what it was. There’s nothing wrong with a woman enjoying her sexuality, but it’s contextual. She’s not at a 30 something singles event, and if she were dressing that way as a mom at a school event – which is essentially what’s she’s doing when she appears with the Bieb – there would be talk. In this case, she’s screaming loud and clear “I’m not a real mom who cares about her son’s well-being, just here to ride the money train.”

The outfit sends a message – not a slut message but a terrible mom message.

      • Leila in wunderland says:

@Bettyrose: I disagree. I’m not saying she’s a good mom, I’m saying that her parenting has nothing to do with the way she dresses in public with her legally adult son. She could have showed up at the event in a suit, and that wouldn’t have implied that she’s any better of a parent than this outfit does.

And @Sea Dragon: I’m not for attacking Courtney Stodden for the way she dresses either. I think we should let people’s actions speak for them, not their physical appearance choices. Obviously Ms. Bieber (that sounds so weird!) is not a great parent, but Justin Bieber is 19. I don’t feel that a celebrity’s parents are responsible for the actions of their 18+ children. Justin’s behavior is on him.

  10. brionne says:

It’s time for him to quit trying to be usher and start to develop his own unique musical style. Pink did it. Mariah Carey did it….his music career is done unless he offers something new.

  11. Pri says:

The Guy looks so stupid in each and every photo. I mean, C’mon. But the last one, disgusting.Like he’s some pimp. And considering little girls are going to be watching this shit. The ones before that are just hilarious cause they are so ‘wannabe PDiddy dope’.

  12. Tracy says:

That mustache moved him from douchey to creepy douchey.

  13. gg says:

omg he’s wearing big boy shoes! And looks stupider than usual if that’s even possible.

  14. Bex says:

Are the brothels and partying going to be in the movie?

  15. Aussie girl says:

Well hasn’t time,$ and fame changed him and his mother. Just look at them now compared to when it all began. I really think this movie will bomb

  16. K-rock says:

Nice stache ya got going there Biebs! My great aunt had more lip hair than that!

  17. Lucy says:

The stache is killing me. He looks like the asshole he is.

  18. crab says:

God do I hate his wrinkled up forehead!! Arrgghhh I just want to slap him upside the head!!

  19. OriginallyBlue says:

Every person in these pictures looks like a douche bag.

  20. JessicaC says:

    Dear Bedhead,

You didn’t mention how Bieber showed up 2 hours late to the premiere and then didn’t talk to any if the reporters. Not sure about the fans.

Even Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio stop and talk to the reporters at THEIR OWN movie premiere. And they’re much bigger stars than Bieber.

  21. Shannon1972 says:

Let me start by saying I am having a very rough morning, so please don’t come down on me too hard…but my god, I am actually starting to feel sorry for him. He started working very young (12! What kid can handle that kind of fame so young?), and could very well be a product of a massive entertainment machine and have little control over his life (hello Britney and Miley), but he doesn’t ever get a “he’s young and rebelling” pass? Why? It seems that few of these young megastars have parents who are looking out for them, but they have plenty of people making money off of their talent/looks and enabling every whim. Why is Bieber treated so harshly? He’s a product of his environment and upbringing (or lack thereof) too.

How many can withstand that kind of brutal attention without it affecting them? I mean, Amanda Bynes wound up in the hospital after all the jeering and armchair judging. Then everyone was suddenly contrite when it was revealed that she was truly mentally ill – like Britney before her. After all the negative attention and internet popcorn throwing, she gets a magazine cover and we all cheer for her recovery. Where do we draw the line?

I think that most people would fold under that kind of intense pressure these young stars are under. Bieber can’t even take a break…his manager is “offering” him a break on the one hand, but also making sure he keeps working on the other. And then justifying it by saying that Bieber *wants* to keep working on an album. Not just his music, but his album…there is a big difference. Who knows if it’s even true, or just a disingenuous way of looking sympathetic while making sure his human ATM machine keeps dispensing money? His acting out and bad behavior could very well be his way of thumbing his nose at his manager.

I’ve got three boys of my own, one who dreams of being an actor (god help me). Perhaps I am projecting how I would feel if people were treating my son this way. The one absolutely true thing his manager said is that Justin is not allowed to be normal. He will never be “normal”. Just makes me sad for him.

Edit: Just saw how long this is…guess I needed to get it off my chest. Thanks for letting me rant a bit.

    • FingerBinger says:

Nothing about Beiber’s behavior screams mental illness. At least with Amanda and Britney there was some indication that something wasn’t right with them. Justin Beiber is behaving like a self entitled douche. Peeing in bucket, getting a piggy back while at the great wall of China, getting photographed coming out of a brothel. That is not mental illness, that is a famous spoiled rich behaving badly. Justin is trying to cultivate a ‘bad boy’ image because he sings bubble gum pop music. He created this image of himself, no one is picking on him. Full stop.

    • JessicaC says:

Being young and rebelling is not an excuse. Any sane person would criticize any normal kid for doing sh-t this stupid. I doubt any (sane) parent ever was all “it’s cool kid, you’re just young and rebelling” when their child threw wild parties, peed in a bucket in a restaurant kitchen, drove too fast and endangered lives, went to a brothel underaged, did drugs, left a pet they claimed to care about in a random country, vandalized public property. That is stupid behavior no matter how old the person is who’s doing it. There is no excuse for it and I’m sick of people giving trying to give him one by saying “oh he’s just young”.

    • gg says:

With money and fame always comes responsibility. And he’s failing miserably because he’s clearly not even trying to be responsible.

    • Leila in wunderland says:

With Amanda Bynes, for a long time a lot of people suspected that she was just acting out for attention. I thought she was trying to make herself the next Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan for publicity.

Britney Spears had her issues, but from what I saw, her actions toward others weren’t as bad as Justin’s are.

You may be right about Justin Bieber. He could be headed for a breakdown. Or, he could just be someone who has anger management issues and little respect for other people. I think that’s the main reason why he gets this criticism. It doesn’t seem like most of us are mad at him for trying drugs or going to the brothel. I do think being young is a valid reason to want to experiment, be immature, and want to rebel against certain things. But it’s not a good excuse to treat others like crap- and that’s a problem that’s consistently seen with him. I do think fame is unhealthy for young people, though.

      • msw says:

Plenty of us suspected behavioral health problems with Amanda Bynes. Look back a few months in the CB archives when commenters were asking this site to stop posting about her for that very reason.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I appreciate the tone of your comment. You seem to have a very good heart!

The reason I don’t give Bieber a pass, is that all of his “acting out” seems to be to the harm and detriment of other people. Being a little silly and wild is one thing, treating other human beings horribly is another.

I wrote above “I can’t handle the hypocrisy of him begging to be treated like a human being, while he simultaneously shows NO regard for other human beings on the planet. Whether he is speeding through residential neighborhoods, going over 100 MPH on the freeway, supporting the sex trade industry, spitting on neighbors and unsuspecting hotel guests, making fans wait for hours for his shows….he has shown REPEATEDLY that he doesn’t want to treat others humanely.”

    • magpie says:

Beiber is a total tool but like you I *almost* feel sorry for him. It’s easy to hate because he acts like such a dweeb, but it’s all part of being with yes-sayers for all these years. I don’t think if any of us had lived that kind of fame at such a tender age, we’d be any better than Brit, Miley et al.

  22. ennie says:

OOOOOHhh you NEED to put up a picture of the Smith kid, his “clothes” were hilarious!

  23. I Want To Live In New York says:

“He looks like a total tool” , he is a tool. That line up is further proof.

  24. taxi says:

Nothing is normal about a physically healthy young male making 2 burly men carry him on the Great Wall of China.

  25. judyjudy says:

Uh….I just realized I’m the same age as Justin Bieber’s mom…yeah…I gotta go…

  26. msw says:

You know, stuff like this is just insulting. Being an asshat to this degree is in no way normal.

  27. aquarius64 says:

I have never seen Scooter whines so much about the media coverage of his meal ticket. (A grown man named Scooter looking out for him… that explains a lot.) It also explains Bieber’s personal wealth may be on the line because of his ratchet-fest. Whatever damage control that is trying to be done by this interview, I think it’s been cancelled out by stories of his fans reeking so much havoc at the premiere that the fire marshal had to be called in. That should be great for the box office.

  28. lavinia says:

Google Leif Garrett. This is Bieb’s future.

    • Nicolette says:

OMG, what a throwback! He was a huge teen idol back in the day. Let’s just hope Bieber doesn’t put someone in a wheelchair (or God forbid worse) the way Leif wound up doing.

  29. Garrett says:

Scooter, shut up! Who do you think you are fooling? He is your cash cow. You need him or else you are nothing. This movie will NOT solve his media’s problems. Quit acting like you are looking out for him, because you’re not.

  30. lassie says:

I see Justin bought his mom some boobies…yikes.

  31. beth says:

Has anyone noticed that Bieber keeps short friends?

  32. Evi says:

In other words Believe is a carefully edited propaganda film.
If his fight to be normal involves vandalising property, calling girls names, turning up late to events and disregarding all forms of courtesy, then good luck to this manager for believing his own BS.
In the end there is only one surefire destination for Bieber – when his teen looks fade and the girls move on to the next teen idol – and that is rehab.

  33. msw says:

Well, he can take solace in the fact that he doesn’t need to fight to be annoying or tedious.

  34. Jade says:

Well it kind of makes me think twice about having kids because we saw him grow from this cherubic, innocent, cute kid singing via YouTube videos to this. It’s like seeing Tom Riddle before Voldemort.
