Best Superbowl Commercials

In 2007, a 30 second commercial spot on CBS during the Superbowl was said to be going for $2.6 million and up. This year the asking rate from NBC wasn’t likely as high due to the financial crisis, and NBC is said to have thrown in some freebies for advertisers including additional ads and lower priced ads during other time slots. NBC Sports said that all but two slots were sold for Sunday’s Superbowl, which saw the Pittsburgh Steelers win their six Superbowl 27-23 in a close match with the Arizona Cardinals. The ad agencies brought out their best for Sunday’s ads, which were humorous, inventive and high production. Spike TV’s top ten ads are below. Here’s a link to quick reviews and links to videos of all the ads.

The Coke commercial is the sweetest one Coke has ever made, in my opinion. Soooooo cute! And I loved the butterflies posing as a Coke bottle.

Being half German, I also dig the Audi commercial a lot. But I do wonder, does Jason Statham ever wake up in the morning and think: “Once, just ONCE would I like to do work that doesn’t involved me driving cars at high speeds!” I know he’s a guy (and thus probably likes car chases and driving cars), but it is starting to be a bit repetitive…

When I saw the Gold commercial with MC Hammer and Ed McMahon I actually said “oh sad” out loud. At least they have a sense of humor.

The Conan one was great. I also liked the one second MIller Highlife one.
