Beyonce’s Grammy dress designer claims Bey is ‘tiny… smaller than a size 4’

wenn21027909

Beyonce’s Grammy performance is still – I think? – the most talked-about event from Sunday. People complained, for good reason – it was a sexy, stripper-tastic performance at 8 pm on network TV. A lot of people though Beyonce and her #surfboard were the best part of a mediocre show though. Anyway, after she performed, Beyonce changed into this white lace number by Michael Costello (a Project Runway winner). We don’t have those pics, I’m sorry. It’s not really important. What’s important is what Costello says about working with Beyonce:

Viewers weren’t even done thinking about Beyoncé’s ultra-sexy bodysuit from her racy opening performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards before they were introduced to yet another revealing outfit by the star.

Bey showed off a perforated, white-hot gown by Project Runway winner Michael Costello, that only covered up the naughtiest bits of her bod. And now, Costello dishes the details on designing the singer’s gown for music’s biggest night to E! News.

“It was incredible! We didn’t have any of her sizes or measurements,” Costello tells us. “The dress was just made to fit a sample mannequin. It’s smaller than a size 4. She is tiny! That dress is at least a 2/4. She looks amazing. I just love the way it all came together. Ty [Bey’s stylist] knew it was going to fit.”

He continues, “At first I was a little concerned with the pieces I gave. Maybe it needs to be smaller or bigger? When you send something to Beyoncé, you’re just a little concerned, but Ty knew. Ty knew the fit.”

In fact, Ty didn’t have have the fitting until the day of the show! Talk about pressure. Costello tells us the gown took three days to make and wasn’t even finished when Ty came to see how things were going. “The neckline, the back, the hemline was not complete, and we still had to do some of the hand sewing on it,” he tells us. “We put in a good extra day’s work. We had a great team. I made four other pieces that night for Beyonce, so that Ty had good options.”

[From E! News]

So, there you go. Beyonce is smaller than a mannequin. She is a size 2 or 4. Which… I’m not sure I believe, but I am more likely to believe it about Bey rather than, say, Kim Kardashian. Bey has slimmed down a hell of a lot over the past year. I heard some of the Bey-haters suggest that Beyonce might have even had lipo on her famous booty and her coveted thighs. That is something I noticed about Beyonce’s Grammy performance – when you look beyond the Flashdance cheese, Bey’s booty and thighs looked much smaller. I’m not saying it’s lipo. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s diet and exercise. But is she a 2/4?

Too bad her head is still a size XXL.

    • BreeinSEA says:

Ha! Does she shop for hats in the plus size department? 🙂

    • ZigZagZoey says:

      Excellent comment! Hee!
I just don’t understand AT ALL why her hair was wet like that. It looks gross. (I did not see the performance.)
I wonder if they actually stuck to their 22 day vegan diet…..

      • littlestar says:

I didn’t like the wet hair either! I found it distracting. Can you believe that with THAT performance she put on? Lol.

      • only1shmoo says:

I doubt it as I’m pretty sure the vegan diet was an act of solidarity with Jay-Z. That woman absolutely zero compassion for animals, which was made obvious by the outfits she chose to wear during that period. I’d bet that if someone served up a BBQ’d baby elephant she’d happily eat it. I don’t mean to sound like a hater, but I can’t tolerate this woman’s self-absorption.

      • ZigZagZoey says:

OMFG! BBQ a baby elephant! Heeheeheehee!
Her and Donald Trump’s son could have a BBQ for all the rich folk!

      • feebee says:

I think her hair was wet-looking because she was ripping off Flashdance?

      • SnarkySnarkers says:

Whats with the wet dog look? In the first picture it looks like her onesie is cutting the in half in the nether region. Yikes!

      • seriously says:

GIRLs, LISTEN…. (I don’t even care for Beyoncé and her overrated pimp anyway) I am TELLING any of you that the vegan diet WORKS. Which is why frumpy Beyoncé finally lost some weight, even after a baby.

I’ve become a vegan after a month and half, stopped eating sugar (at least half as much as before), NO JUICES (substitute orange juice with ACTUAL RAW FRUIT)…and not that I noticed right away, but now my lounge pants are baggy and my shoulders/arms finally look thinner. I’d been going to the gym for YEARS AND YEARS….and NOTHING. It’s the food…it’s simply the food that messes with your weight…including food that doesn’t seem fattening.

It’s the smart dieting that will get you to lose weight…and no, it’s not that hard. I’m aware most of you already KNOW this… fast diets don’t work…it’s SIMPLY about cutting out meats (at least most of them….okay I’m not 100 percent vegan…seafood every now and then), cut out the sugar/salt (no sugar in coffee because it adds up after one or two cups) …. NO JUICES and drinking more water. BUY ORANGES TO SUBSTITUTE MORNING JUICE…YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID.

It worked for me and I’m old ….and it will work for you…and I love food. REMEMBER JUICES ARE ACTUALLY FATTENING WITH ALL THE CARBS.

****Also, I recommend buying a water cooler/dispenser. GO TO AMAZON.COM…CHEAP.
You will end up constantly drinking water because it’s easy to access from a dispenser. DO IT. Shut up and stop saying, what the hell is the crazy post about???

YOU WILL BE THANKING THIS CRAZY ASS POST AND ALIAS OF MINE ON THIS SITE…..SERIOUSLY!!! 😉

      ^^This! LoL

    • Kim1 says:

Well I disagree since I know several people who know her and I have met her .We are both from Houston .She is very down to earth , very reserved and understated.Despite what the tabloids or gossip sites may say.

On another topic GMA mentioned her thigh gap and The View talked about how thin she was.yesterday.I cringed

      • KB says:

I’m from Houston too so don’t attack me, but I have no idea how she has a thigh gap with her a** and thighs. Am I wrong or is that highly unlikely to occur naturally?

      • Nerd Alert says:

Being nice to one’s friends does not make one a good person. She is cheap, a bad tipper, and rude to service people. I’ve seen it myself.

      • Dani says:

Funny, that’s the face she puts on for people who don’t know her personally or work with her. She steals beats and music from unknown “ghost” music producers who do the actual music for the big name, well known ones, promising them producer credits on the track and big name recognition in the future, and never follows through. She takes the credit or gives it to someone else. She’s notorious for stealing in the business.
Also, her own family here in the Houston area, know she’s full of shit and know about her whoring and abortions before she got famous and on her rise up in the music industry.
Her own father scammed my boyfriend for a business logo. Where do you think she learned it from? She’s a lying sack of shit who owe’s half of Houston for her fame and fortune, which is why she no longer lives here.
She pretends to be nice in case you’re a fan spending half your paycheck to see her in concert. She’ll pretend all day if she has to. She’s fake as hell.

      • She seems nice. Haters gonna hate.

I had no idea she was so tiny, though. Honestly with her curves I’d have pegged her as a 6. Who knew.

    • lola lola says:

      Best comment in ages!

    • Pandy says:

Thank you!! I was just going to comment that I’m sick and tired of seeing her and then this comment. 😀

    • Nerd Alert says:

      HAH thanks guys 😀

    • Lisa says:

Is it just me or does gf look like she could do with a few cheeseburgers? She’s looking kinda like Goop in “Thanks for Sharing” its not a great look.

  2. BreeinSEA says:

Those hips don’t lie. Just accept your size! It’s like she’s always pulling a Cartman. Eeesh

    • V4Real says:

      “Those hips don’t lie.”

      Nope, just her mouth.

    • HH says:

I think this could actually be possible. Sizes have gotten distorted because people wear their pants so low on their hips/torso these days. Her actual *waist* size could be a size 2. In pictures of her in the white lace dress, her waist looks toned and tiny. Now, she may have to buy larger sizes and have them tailored, but if the stylist was talking strictly waist measurements, I think it’s believable.

      • bettyrose says:

This exactly. I wear a size four, and I’m about the same size I was in high school when I wore a 5/7. Sizes have changed a lot. I have very curvy thighs/butt for my size, but these days a size four is probably what a size 8 was in 1990, so that’s what I now wear. I totally believe she’s a 4. I don’t know about KK. She’s very curvy, but she’s also proportionally tiny IRL, so it’s possible she’s also a size 4.

    • HH says:

      DOUBLE POST – DELETED

    • Tiffany :) says:

I was avoiding this post because I knew it would just be a bunch of people who have never met the woman trying to “set the record straight” about a body they have never seen in real life, delighting in saying that she is bigger than what he said/the norm/etc.

It is just depressing to me.

      • Pirouette says:

I am actually reading this post because its fun to predict the backlash and all the commenters hiding behind their screens talking about how size 4 they are and how impossible it is for anyone else in the world to be as “tiny” as they are. Posts about size generate the most unintentionally hysterical comments, no need to be depressed!

  3. Kelly says:

Either she’s really short or that camera really adds a lot of meat…

    • Apples says:

Yes, this is exactly right. One of my friends saw her once, and ALL she could talk about was how TINY she is- not like her larger than life 6 foot persona. I’ve been fascinated with trying to notice it and I think you can tell in a youtube video where she’s singing Halo in a hospital ward. Her body in proportion to the waiting room chair.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq8tK1rGpog
But, size and especially weight, is not an indicator of anything to me. A marathon runner can be a size 8 and 140 pounds or even more depending on their height.

    • dagdag says:

OMG, I am barely 5.1, that makes me tiny/tiny?

    • Stef Leppard says:

The average height for women in the US is 5’4″, so I’d say 5’5″ and 5’6″ are tallish rather than shortish.

    • Decloo says:

Yeah and if she’s a 2/4 then Jay-Z is a 4/6. Compare them side by side.

      • FLORC says:

        Agree.
This is total BS. Bey is short, but curvy and solid muscle. Not only do I think she’s had lipo, but this kind of throwing out dress sizes is bad PR no matter who you are. All designers and stores size differently anyways.

When Bey’s PR was still being run by her father this would never have been said or printed. Ever since he left it’s fake pregnancy bump, Bad nose jobs, etc…

Bottom line.. Bey is a size 4 in some clothes just like Kim is a size 4 (currently) in some clothes.

    • shump says:

Women’s clothes are cut to fit women 5’4″ to 5’7″. Petite is 5’3 and under, and tall is over 5’7, which would make Beyonce average height. That said, I think your point is valid. She seems like she ought to be HUGE, right? Some average Bey would still seem tiny compared to what you’d expect.

    • Val says:

Cameras definitely change how your body and face look. I know a couple of models/actors (nobody famous) and in the flesh they are very different than what you see on the camera. Many models photograph magnificently, but then in real life their faces aren’t as striking.

With regards to Bey, I saw her during the Sasha Fierce tour and I was very surprised at how small she was…. they always make her out to be this bombastic girl, but really she is not as large as she seems on camera. She has a curvy body, yes, but slender – it’s just that she’s not very tall and the curves make her look overall wider compared to other Hollywood women.

    • Dani says:

She’s 5’4 with flat shoes on. In person, same height as me.

  4. Liv says:

She definitely had lipo on her thighs, her booty looks the same for me though. The pictures of her Grammy performance are pretty obvious. You can’t get such gaps between your thighs just with dieting, her body type was totally different before.

    • L. says:

Umm yes you can get tiny with diet and exercise ! It’s called a whole lot of Cardioand strength training. Dosnt have to be heavy weights but light weights added to cardio / reps do a great job!. She looks health and happy. In her interviews she even says she worked hard for her body! Work it B!

      • emmie_a says:

Yes and no. Cardio, weights and diet will get you is shape — but they can’t change your shape. Like if you’re bottom heavy, you’re going to be bottom heavy no matter what. Unless you get lipo or something like that.

      • Liv says:

@L: I believe she works hard for her body, no doubt. But with her body type you can’t get thighs like that with dieting or working out. Look at pictures of her before. It’s just impossible.

      • paola says:

You can’t have a thigh gap in such a short time. she’s worked out and dieted all her life. It’s too much of a change for it to be natural, she surely had lipo, at least in the inner thigh area.

      • springingforward says:

She has taken notes from Kimmy; this is most definitely liposuction on Beyonce.
I have seen her very thin before and she still was meaty in her thighs; it is her body type.

    • Latisse says:

Are you kidding me? My senior year of college, I decided that I wanted to lose a bunch of weight before I moved to another city and ended up losing something like 25 pounds, Beyonce and I have the same body type —

i.e curvy, big booty, hips, and within months doing running mostly, I dropped 2 jean sizes and most certainly was able to get a small thigh gap going, nothing excessive, not Victoria secret status thigh gap but certainly Beyonce status and that was within a couple months. So easy with your generalizations.

Also in regards to her size: by the end of senior year, I ended up a little skinnier, judging from pictures, than Beyonce is now and was a size 2, so I could believe that she is a size 4, although she is shorter than me since I am 5’7” so maybe she might be even smaller than a 4.

      • FLORC says:

Bodies are not identical just because you have the same body type. Work out schedules, diets, and metabolisms are huge variables you cannot account for.

And Bey works constantly. Her shape has never changed so drastically before.
Compare your types all you like, but Bey has been becoming more image obsessed for a long time now and is no stranger to going under the knife.

      • Latisse says:

Haha, ok, whatever helps you sleep at night, FLORC.

    • katy says:

Just saying, I’m supposed to be bottom heavy (and my thighs and butt are HUGE compared to most girls), and I still have a thigh gap – not a huge one, but my thighs do not touch.

Also, I would think that her thigh gap would be accentuated by her tights – that’s how it works for me, anyways. Anytime I wear jeans, my thigh gap looks significantly smaller than when I squeeze in to some tights.

    • Kelly says:

“You can’t get such gaps between your thighs just with dieting”
Yes you can, it’s called not eating. You just sustain yourself on water and kale, work out every day, and see if you don’t get thinner legs in no time.
It takes dedication and emotional instability though.

      • Liv says:

I don’t think so. My friend is someone whose body type is rather straight, mine is pretty curvy, like Beyonce. When my friend loses weight her gap gets bigger. Mine not. My thighs or my butt gets shaped or thinner, but I don’t lose that much space between my thighs. Because of that surgeons do lipos. For women who can’t achieve that “ideal” naturally. Beyonce is clearly one of these women. I’m not judging her. I imagine it’s pretty hard to live in the showbusiness and she always wears short dresses or outfits which point out her legs. I can’t understand why she’s having so much plastic surgery though, because she was a really beautiful girl to begin with.

      • FLORC says:

        Kelly
You’re way off base here. Thigh gaps are 1. A terrible thing to notice and aspire to.
And 2. obtained through dieting and exercise. Sure some people will starve themselves for it, but you can reshape your thighs without an ED.

And emotional instability?! Really? I’m so offended by your lack of knowledge.across the board today.

      • Kelly says:

Liv, that’s interesting, alright so maybe body shape does play a larger role in the thigh gap issue than I previously gave it thought.
I just believe that anyone can achieve it IF they lose enough weight. Not just a few pounds, but a LOT of pounds. Which is obviously stupid and unhealthy, if Beyonce did in fact lose so much weight just to achieve a thigh gap, she’s even dumber than I had previously thought.

    • imqrious2 says:

Thigh gap is ALL about your bone/pelvic structure (ie: where your femur bones are attached in your pelvis). If you are “wide set” you will have thigh gap; closer in, not so much.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thigh_gap

    • Leann Stinks says:

I agree 100% with you because of one name: Jane Fonda.

I maybe dating myself, but I remember when she came out with her exercise videotapes. Women were buying them up like hotcakes just so they could look like Ms. Fonda. Then, lo and behold, she came out decades later and admitted she had some additional “help” to look that good.

So, I definitely believe she had work done, and not just on her body either. Her nose has gotten quite thinner over the years as well.

Honestly, I don’t care that celebrities get plastic surgery. Let’s face it, their appearance is part of their commodity. What I cannot stand is when they lie about it and make us mere mortals feel inferior.

    • deehunny says:

Though she has always worked on her fitness, she was always a bottom- heavy woman. She was “shaped like a bowling pin” as a course man I know put it. I think she definitely lost weight everywhere (look at the difference in her tummy..look at the tummy bearing outfits) from now to when she was with Destiny’s Child 2.0, but damn, I definitely think she got lipo on her thighs. Her natural body shape doesn’t easily lend to that thigh gap like that. Huge very noticeable difference, not a subtle tweak.

    • Tully says:

She’s definitely had work done on her thighs. They have never looked like that before at the height of her fame where she was younger, working a lot and touring. To suddenly have this gap after supposedly having a baby – not buying it. Oh, and how crass after her penning her “supposed” article on feminisim. She is all smoke and mirrors.

  5. Peanut says:

I don’t really know why these celebs think we care what size they are. Like, is it a worthy achievement to be a size 2/4? I don’t think so. There’s much more to admire about Beyoncé’s accomplishments than her size.

    • missmerry says:

      well said.
too bad Beyonce herself doesn’t care about that enough to ask the people she works with not to talk about her size.

it shouldn’t matter, and it shouldn’t matter enough for her to have control over who says what about her (even if it is ‘flattering’ by saying she’s a small dress size)

she has tight control over EVERYTHING about herself and her career and her image, what is released/shared, what is kept under wraps, but she has no problem with ‘her people’ telling the public her size…

      sketchy…

      • V4Real says:

Beyonce is a size 2 and JLow is a size 1. (Yeah right)

Yep it’s a planted story. Im sure he was told to say that. If Bey is smaller than a size 4, then Halle Berry must be a 0/0. I recall an interview with Halle where she said her size was usually between a 2 or 4 depending on the cut of the clothing. There is no way Bey is the size of Berry. She still looks pretty curvy to me and I don’t have a problem with the way her body looks. It’s nice to see her size represented in this business. Too bad that she has now fallen into the trap of body image and wants to appear to be smaller.

Or perhaps Bey is using the Victoria Secret measurement system. Their clothing doesn’t always run true to size. A VS size four skirt can fit like a size 6.

        .

    • Cherry says:

Agree on all counts. It’s a silly world we live in where us ladies generally get much more praise for losing a few pounds than for, say, getting a degree, raising a child or working hard at a job. Beyonce’s no exception. Apparently it’s not enough that she’s crazy talented, a hard worker and a mom. She must be ‘tiny!’ and ‘at least a size 2/4’ as well.

I’m not sure if this is Beyonce’s publicist at work, but if it is: shame on her/them. Anyone heard Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche’s speech on ‘Flawless’?

‘We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller.’

Way to not practice what you preach, mrs. Carter. Seriously, Beyonce has the power and influence to be above all this female sizeism. It makes me sad.

    • Sugar says:

What should we admire about Beyoncé? Should we admire the way she degrades herself on TV by spreading her legs open as far as they go while wearing a thong? What about when she crawls on all fours with her buttocks in the “mount me” position? None of that is admirable IMO. And please don’t come back with, “she’s empowered by owning her sexuality.” BS! She’s all about tempting the male gaze and there’s nothing “empowered” about displaying yourself as a masturbatory item.

      • Shauna says:

So tell me Sugar, what is the early 20th century like?

      • JojoAnn says:

The pilgrims must have got their hands on the time machine again.

      • Linda says:

I don’t know about others, but I admire her work ethic, her ability to put on an amazing performance and give you your money’s worth during her shows. I admire that she was able to build a company, I love some of her songs, I like that after almost fifteen years in this industry she has avoided drug scandals and other scandals that have plagued her peers.

      • Louise says:

Here’s an idea: attack the argument, not the person. Sugar has a valid opinion. If yours is different, share it. Otherwise, what’s the point? I know the site is celeBITCHY, but usually there is some intelligent discourse here, not just adolescent name-calling.

      • I agree with you, Sugar. Her performance was about titillation, not empowerment.

      • Latisse says:

No. I think it is fair for them to call Sugar out. That post is misogynistic, condescending and gross. I don’t think I’ve seen a woman so thoroughly shamed for owning her sexuality outside of one of those Men’s Right’s Advocacy sites.

      • katy says:

You know, when I first heard of the controversy, I clicked on the video to see if I could find anything scandalous about it. I really couldn’t. She’s an adult woman, who has made her enviable body part of her brand, so yes she is going to show it off. Her outfit was akin to what she HAS been wearing (for instance, in Single Ladies). There is no scandal to what she was wearing.

As for the actual performance, what were people thinking she was going to do? She was tame compared to what she could have done. She was scheduled to sing Drunk in Love, which is a song rich in sexuality – was she supposed to sing it in a damn nun’s habit, hands straight down at her sides? She grinded a little bit on her husband, but most of it was posing. Not scandalous in the least.

      • JenniferJustice says:

Sugar is right and it’s not mysogynistic to view a woman exploiting herself as negative. When in the world did showing your crotch and getting in sex positions become “owning your sexuality?” What it is is promiscuity in it’s purest form. I don’t think it particularly scandelous esp compared to the likes of Miley, but it is what it is – using sex for attention and relevancy. BTW – if this woman is a size 4 then I must be a negative 2. No way. Not in any country or fashion sizing is Bey a size 4. Look at her next to JayZ. They appear to be the same size in girth to me and he’s no size 4. Buying something larger and taking it in doesn’t make it become a smaller size. It’s still the size it was when you bought it or made it – it’s just been fitted to your shape.

      • Louise says:

Now see, Latisse, I disagree with you. I think Sugar is dead on. There’s owning your sexuality, and there’s waving your ass in the camera at 8:00 p.m. Not a puritan, not a prude. There was absolutely nothing misogynistic about Sugar’s comment – it’s a valid feminist point of view. And calling someone names and calling them out are two totally different things. You want to call someone out? Then debate their point in an effective fashion.

      • Whatwhatnot says:

I’m going to say that there is a fine line between empowering ones sexuality and becoming a sexual object. I have never thought it particularly empowering to act like I’m in heat for attention, which IMO is what many of these female celebs seem to be doing nowadays, all to placate the male dominated powers that be in the industry. And the men love it. they will gladly shout “female empowerment!” while jerking off in a corner watching these women play up the sex kitten role. And this is what many young women are emulating and doing on social media sites. Posting pic in sexually provocative poses, dressed in next to nothing, because they see the reaction the celebs get, and know it will get them a ton of “likes”. As a woman, and as a mother to a teenage daughter, it’s frustrating to see this trend. As a former tomboy who still has many close male friends, they don’t care how much a woman screams that they are owning their sexuality, sadly they still end up degrading this type of behavior and many can’t see past any woman engaging in these public displays of sexuality as “hoes”. This is just my opinion on the matter.

      • RN says:

I agree with you, Sugar, which is why I don’t allow my 12 year old and 10 year old to watch the Grammys. I don’t find it “empowering” in the least to have a singer shove her butt in the air. I don’t consider myself a prude and I’m not religious at all, but I do label myself as a feminist. And exposing your privates as an entertainer (aside from working in porn) is completely unnecessary. It’s a shame that young women have labeled such behavior as “empowering”, as the men who developed that POV and brainwashed women into believing it are laughing their asses off.

      • Kelly says:

“The pilgrims must have got their hands on the time machine again.”
        AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA, I choked!!!

Okay I agree that Beyonce is not about talent, she’s all about titillation and selling sex.
On the other hand, a woman has the right to be as promiscuous and sexually active as much as she wants to, that does not mean she deserves less respect.
If men can play the field and have lots of sex, so can women. Sex between two consenting adults is nothing to be ashamed of.
Selling your body however, not to gain sexual pleasure or personal fulfillment, but just to make money, is wrong. And that is essentially what Beyonce is doing.

        I’m with you, Sugar.

NEITHER Drunk In Love nor Beyonce were nominated for any awards so I don’t consider it appropriate that they even made an appearance at the Grammy show! It was a song that was not ripe to be performed at all. The Carter Cabaret did not belong in the Grammys.

The non-nominated Carter Cabaret at the Grammys simply seemed like a self-serving self-promoting look-at-meeee random hijack of what is supposed to be a democratically curated celebration of excellence in musical artistry of the past year – music’s equivalent of the Academy Awards, not a dance-off, or a sex-off. If you are not even nominated, don’t perform!

If Mariah, Beyonce, Miley, Madonna, Britney, Katy, Rihanna, Taylor, Tori, or whomever wishes to writhe and simulate sexually during their performance, by all means, go ahead – in context during one of their own shows. [Not that you’d find Mariah Carey, Cher, Pat Benatar, Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Debbie Harry, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Norah Jones, Adele Adkins, or Patti LaBelle doing so!]

That said, I don’t consider writhing on a chair or simulating sex to be dancing, I don’t consider bleating into a microphone to be singing, and I could not care less what size a performer’s costumes are.

I think Mary Lambert is a much better singer, songwriter, and a better dresser than Beyonce. And Carole King outshined them all, with no dance routine whatsoever. Talent does not need to be dressed – or undressed – to distraction.

And Latisse, if you care about misogyny and gross condescension, then take The Carters to task for deriding Tina Turner. Furthermore, take your own advice and do not shame other women for thoroughly owning and expressing their opinions.

      • Becky1 says:

Sugar, I’m with you and no one has ever called me a puritan lol. I think it’s sad that someone as famous and talented as Beyonce chose to resort to such a low brow performance. It was very porny. I give Miley a pass because she’s young and not as established but Beyonce is A list and in her early 30’s. What is she trying to prove at this point?

On another note, why did CBS put this on at 8:00 PM? It couldn’t have been saved for 9:30 PM or 10:00 PM? They could have opened with Daft Punk, Katy Perry, Pink or Taylor Swift.

      • cs says:

        @sugar

I too agree with you. The poster below who questioned why they were performing when Beyoncé was not nominated for Grammy and it was her song that they performed. No one has never performed on the Grammy’s that wasn’t nominated for an award. But, also Jay-z received a Grammy for an obscure award that has never been televised in the history of the Grammy’s.. It just proved the Grammy’s are fake.. They get caught so they award an album or song that no one listened to or bought.. They do it every other two years or so.

      • jes_sayin says:

        Totally agree with Sugar…

I really felt sorry for Bey– Is the “sex card” all she has??

When will one of these women show us something new? PLEASE.

      • jj says:

“I’m Ike, Turner, turn up / Baby no I don’t play / Now eat the cake, Anna Mae / I said eat the cake, Anna Mae”

These are the lyrics JayZ and Beyonce sang (ehm lip synced) during their performance. Everybody who thinks Beyonce is an empowered woman is criminally naive.

        http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/jan/28/beyonce-drunk-in-love-problem-lyrics?commentpage=1

      • Tully says:

Amen, Lucy. Well said. Oh, and to invoke Ike – yikes!

    • Vampi says:

When JayZ or any other man gets on stage in a thong and grinds up against a woman, and humpsa chair…I will be silent about it. Until then. No….just…NO! I agree with Sugar…and I am a stick 5 foot 9 woman who would KILL for curves! (if for no other reason than clothes would actually fit me!! I hate that jeans at too short and have more “butt” room than I have to fill them out! 🙂

      • jes_sayin says:

Yes! Thank you Vampi. My sentiments exactly. Show me a man stripping down for his song at the Grammys.

  6. Mia V. says:

Was he paid to say that? And truth is, the dress doesn’t make Bey prettier, looks like a cheap knockoff.

  7. JenniferJustice says:

If that’s true, then JayZ is a size 4 or 5 as well and I’m a negative 4. Geesh!

    • John Wayne Lives says:

This!! What a load of BS.. I literally cannot roll my eyes hard enough. People who have seen her in real life, whether they think she is attractive or not, almost all still say she’s got a good figure. But ” tiny” lololololol.
That is a word that will never ever describe her. God she’s so delusional

  8. Patricia says:

Ugh I’m so over the size speculation thing. Bey looks amazing. I don’t get why this designer felt the need to gush about her being small. We can all see that she is small and thin.
Some women and very thin and a size 10 because they are very tall and built wide. Some women and overweight and are a size 6 because of how they are built.
At the end of the day who CARES what size anyone is? Just look at her, she looks awesome. What more info do you need?

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Exactly. Who cares what size she is? She looks amazingly fit, period, end of story. Unlike Kim, I can actually buy that Beyoncé works out.

Not a huge fan of Bey and didn’t watch the Grammys, but she looks incredible in these pics.

    • Vampi says:

      Agreed. I am 5 foot 9, 140 lbs, and am a size 9. Truth. ( I once was a size 5…till I had kids..ha! 😉

  9. cecizahn says:

Maybe her waist is 2. She definitely has, in my opinion, something kardashianesk done on her ass.

    • Linda says:

Nope that ass is hers. Did u see her when she was a teenager? Her ass was bigger then. I think its much smaller now due to her weight loss.

    • littlestar says:

I don’t think so. That body is all hers. And she works hard for it. Like her or not, Beyoncé has incredible discipline.

    • Kelly says:

Why do people always think big-butted women have fake asses?
There is this body type called pear where your ass and thighs get fat while your calves, waist, breasts, arms, and face stay thin. It does exist and it does not mean someone’s butt is fake if it is disproportionately big.
It doesn’t look good true, I got one myself, but it isn’t necessarily fake.

  10. Jac says:

I can’t dislike her, woman works too hard for what she’s got! And she looks amazing, good for her.

  11. bns says:

Why is this even an article? Why are we picking apart her body? She looked absolutely incredible and that’s all that matters.

  12. nk868 says:

whatever size she is – can i have those legs? please?

  13. H. says:

I believe this. My mother and I used to get our hair done regularly at Beyonce’s mother’s salon in Houston, Headliners. The one time I opted to stay home (we lived in LA), Beyonce came into the salon. This was around the time Destiney’s Child had a popular song on the Charlie’s Angels’ soundtrack. She was kind enough to autograph a t-shirt. My mother remarked how tiny in person Beyonce was and she was surprised that she was actually much taller (with my mom being around 5’6″).

    • Thinkaboutit says:

I say this all the time during these size debates, but I stood right next to her and she is teeny tiny. Doll-like. Nowhere near the 5’5″ I’m always reading. She’s max 5’2″ and easily a 4 if not smaller. I have no reason to make this up! The camera does lie.

      • RJ says:

I think a lot of celebrities are mini-people. I used to be friends with the CEO of a large theater company & she often gave me passes to shows & cast parties. Actors who looked “normal” size up on stage in person close up looked like little dolls. Other designers have said they’ve send her sample runway dresses size 2/4 and she fit into them perfectly. What I like is that she doesn’t look emaciated or starved. I think she looks incredibly healthy (which matches her overly healthy ego).

  14. dagdag says:

I really do not understand this obsession about the size of a garment.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Me, neither. I have clothes that fit in at least 4 sizes. It doesn’t mean anything about who I am or what I look like. She looks great, fit and healthy. Who cares what size the dress was?

      • dagdag says:

Same here. I wear loose fitting clothes. For some occasions I wear thighter fitting clothes, but I refuse clothes were I have to squeeze in.

  15. emmie_a says:

Her ‘coveted thighs’? Please. I don’t covet her thighs. And maybe she can fit into a size 4 couture dress (vanity sizing!) but I can’t see her coveted thighs & ass fitting into size 4 jeans.

    • Miss Scarlet says:

Truth. I’m a 4/6, and Bey looks like an 8 to me. Which is perfectly healthy and beautiful!

    • Linda says:

I love love love her tighs.

    • littlestar says:

I actually think she has beautiful strong thighs :).

    • Latisse says:

What? Jeans aren’t sized like that. Not in 2, 4, 6 increments. At least I don’t think the jeans Beyonce buys are sized like that. I could see her being a size 27 with jeans and a size 4 or lower dress. As I said upthread, I’m a little thinner than Bey and I’m a size 2 dress and size 27 jeans because of my booty.

    • Kelly says:

      “I don’t covet her thighs”

I read this in Anthony Hopkins’ voice.

(I don’t covet her thighs either, to be fair, they look too meaty for my taste, but that’s cuz I got the same ones, and I hate it)

  16. Smith says:

Oy. Why is this even a thing, a dress size. It’s not enough to say she looked good in this design or that …the size and amount of material has to be mentioned.

But okay I’ll play along. J’accuse – she did have work done because (unless I’m mistaken) suddenly she has the “GAP” That illusive yet coveted space between the thighs that only certain body types have (and yes weight has something to do with it but I think it’s more about shape and body mass). She has def slimmed down but come on, even at her thinnest she was always kind of thick in certain places (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and now things are …different. Not gym different. Not diet different. Doctor different.

So no judgie – she needs to keep it tight and together for her career, so god bless.

    • whatsyourbeef says:

      +1 Beautifully put

    • dagdag says:

This thigh-gap subject is so funny to me. I have one and always thought I had a vitamin/mineral deficiency in my early childhood.

      • Sullivan says:

Yeah, the thigh gap thing is funny to me also. I was always a bit embarrassed of my thigh gap. When did it become a thing?

    • Vampi says:

@DagDag… Me too! as I mentioned above, I am 5 ft 9, 140, and a size 9…and I have always…always hated my “thigh gap” ( and got TEASED for it!!)..now that I’m too old to show it off..it’s a thing. Go figure!! 🙂

  17. lucy2 says:

Ah yes, the elusive size 4, which miraculously fits all female celebrities between 95-150 lbs.

  18. Esmom says:

Size aside, that dress looked like it was unfinished on the red carpet. Terrible. As a former Project Runway fan, I’m happy he landed that commission but his execution was really lacking (much like on PR, so no real surprise there).

As for him commenting on Bey’s size, please. If you watch PR then you know that designers have no regard for the average-sized female. And a plus-sized woman? The horror, the horror — in their warped minds.

  19. Jag says:

No idea if she’s a 2/4, but I *love* that Beyonce got the designer to say that because now Kim Kartrashian will be LIVID! (My guess is that she asked him to make sure to say her size if asked about making the dress. Just my opinion.)

    This made my day. lol

  20. BendyWindy says:

I hate Beyonce. Have since Crazy In Love. I can believe she’s down to a 4 right now. I don’t think she’s a 2 except in her ankles, but I will buy a size 4. Good for her, I guess. I do think she had lipo, though. Even when she was slender before, she was always bottom-heavy with thick thighs. Her thighs look like they’ve been reshaped. And I’m not mad at her for that.

  21. Artemis says:

I don’t know, aren’t her hips and booty too wide to be smaller than a size 4? I think she always looks good, thin or a bit thicker. She’s beautiful.

  22. bella says:

She absolutely trimmed down…not that she needed to,,,but she’s tinier.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a 4…but so what?
She’s an entertainer and she’s paid to be fit.
What I’m still trying to come to terms with is that tv interview when her supposedly pregnant belly folded in half like a jackknife…

  23. Faith says:

Sizes are always getting bigger so yeah she could wear a size 2-4 US is different to what a 2-4 ten years ago would have been. I believe she could be a size 4 from the last two pictures which show off her hole body, she looks pretty slim.

  24. girlindisguise says:

If she is a size 4, then I’m Oprah Flippin’ Winfrey. Really, I don’t care what size you are. Just don’t lie about it.

  25. epiphany says:

Oh, I can believe her dress size is 2/4; what I can’t believe is all that phony “passion” between her and Jayz – that was the real show, put on for our benefit. Remember years ago, when they refused to be photographed together, didn’t even acknowledge they were dating, or later, married? Now one or the other -or their child – is constantly in our faces. Someone is working overtime to make us believe this is a happy marriage.

  26. Vanessa says:

She’s trying to compete with the kids.

    • Micah says:

      Wait…..confused.

She has her vagina out “to compete with the kids”??

Is this a new thing? ?

Vaginas seem to be everywhere lately.

Look at Miley, and well….Kim’s Vagina ruffle dress.

Vaginas are turning into a lifestyle.

    • bns says:

There’s no need to compete with the “kids” when you’re in a league of your own.

    • Latisse says:

      Thank you bns, agree!

  27. Dani says:

There’s no way those ‘coveted thighs’ fit into a size 4 jeans. Have you held up size 4 jeans? My 115 lb, 5’3” mother wears size 4 and she’s tiny. Don’t see the fascination with needing to prove that you’re tiny. You have a great figure regardless of the number you wear, the end.

    • Jessica says:

if your mother is 5’3” and wears a size 4 then she must like to wear her clothes baggy. I’m 5’2” and a quarter, 115 lbs and I wear a size 0 and that’s still too loose on me. I’ve seen Beyonce in person and she is in fact a lot smaller than she looks on television. When watching her at the awards you would think that she’s 5’10 but I would say she’s about average height like 5’5” or so, plus she performs in 3” heels. Yeah she’s pretty much just a larger than life illusion.

  28. Relli says:

She probably had this information slip in order to drive Kitty Killer crazy with determination.

  29. kibbles says:

I’d estimate her size to be a 6. She used to be size 8-10. I have a hard time believing she’s a size 2/4.

  30. paola says:

Since i started the rumor about the lipo on yesterday’s post I’d like to just say I’m not a Beyoncè hater. I just believe it’s impossible to gain a thigh gap just by dieting and exercising considering the fact she has exercised, danced and dieted all her life. Not long ago she had muscly and bulky legs while now she has slender legs with a friggin’ THIGH GAP. So why now the big weight drop? It’s just too much of a change to be natural.
I hate nobody but I dislike people ’embracing their bodies’ and then going under knife.

    • Kiddo says:

I had missed the Beyonce/ Jay-Z performance. I saw parts last night. It does look like there was some lipo shaping on the inside of her thighs. I’m not a big fan, nor am I a hater, I’m largely indifferent.

  31. John Wayne Lives says:

She wishes she was a tiny blond little white girl so bad. I guess money cant buy happiness

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

      What? WHOA.
      That’s extrapolating a bit, don’t you think?

    • Linda says:

      In your dreams.

    • idk says:

I think Beyonce is VERY happy and proud with who and what she is.

    • bns says:

      Shut the f*ck up.

    • Latisse says:

And here is where I have always suspected all the vitriol towards Beyonce stems from. Thanks for confirming it.

    • John Wayne Lives says:

Always with the awful blond hair, wigs, whatever, the nose change, constantly lightening her own promo pics to look lighter than a chick with a tan… I honestly and truly think she has a complex about her self in that way. And she thinks we should all buy into it because shes BEYONCE. She has proven time and again she will bold face lie to protect her image.. Can’t stand her. My right. Feel free to carry on with your B worship.
And I’m brown. Not black or white. AndmI’m tiny with a thigh gap and a size 4. Even if pictures add 10 lbs. I still look much smaller in my pics than she does in hers.
So of COURSE she would have lipo thigh thinning and act like it is just all her hard work.. I mean she still wants us to believe she was actually pregnant. She’s just better than every one else remember. Must have taken a lesson from Gisele.
      I can’t stand narssicistic artifice

      • bns says:

So your only evidence to support your original comment is that she has a blonde weave and she’s not dark skinned? You do know that not only white people can have blonde hair, right? And not all black people are dark skinned.

And no one cares what skin color you have. It doesn’t make your comments any less disgusting and ignorant.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

My little cousin is bi-racial, black dad and blonde white mom.

He has beautiful caramel-colored skin and WHITE-blonde curls. I mean, PLATINUM blonde, not light brown or dirty blonde, just like his mom.

Hopefully, he’s growing up in a time where people are more open-minded about race and not so intent on generalizing.
I have no issue with you not liking Beyoncé but saying that she “wishes she were a tiny blonde little white girl” implies that all black people are overweight, large in stature, and have black hair. It’s simply not true.

      • John Wayne Lives says:

Yeah, it was a pretty c@nty thing to say lol. So im in a bad mood. The sentiment remains the same. She is a liar and a phoney, and I hate, that for me, that overrides her talent. I believe people like her are part of everything that is wrong with society, not the ones bringing deeper meaning to it.
I don’t have to celebrate her, and all she stands for, because “hey, she’s worked hard for it. “

      • John Wayne Lives says:

@ the Original Kitten. I accept what you’re pointing out, and you are correct.
Your train of thought also makes me think that self acceptance, instead of conforming to the statis quo of beauty standard’s would be a great place for a star to stand in.
I am also mixed race. It is why I’m a huge advocate of a girl loving the beauty she’s born with, not longing for someone elses.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah it was just a poorly-worded comment. You might be right about Beyoncé not being satisfied with the looks she was born with but if I’m being honest, I might not be either. I highlight my hair, wear makeup and do all the other conformist crap that makes me feel like I look better. I don’t know….don’t we all do stuff like that? I just think your hatred of this woman might be impacting your ability to see her objectively, which is fine by the way–it’s sort of how things work in the world of celeb gossip.
Go check the Fassy post if you don’t believe me! 😉

      • John Wayne Lives says:

Lol you’re right about us women and our women stuff! I hate her for the lie she lives, pushes and perpetuates I guess. This “bling” mentality that worships only the most fleeting of attributes that ultimately mean nothing when it comes to a soul fulfilled. I think the Beyonces, Mileys, Anistons, and Brandis of the world should not be made to be women of substace and societal value.

      • Thatchick says:

Well, you’ve done it now. I’m waiting for her obsessive stans to come in here and try to convince you that Beyonce doesn’t wear wigs and was actually born with silky platinum blonde hair . Then after that, they’ll try to convince you that the ever shrinking nose on her face is actually natural. And then they’ll try to convince you that her breasts are real and that she’s never had liposuction.

Get ready, cause the delusional ratchet chicks are coming to defend their ratchet Queen Bee!!!

      • bns says:

        @Thatchick

Ratchet? Do you even know what that means or is that your word of the week from UrbanDictionary.com?

  32. MissNostalgia says:

She has a nice figure; but, I am a size 4 and she is definitelty not a size 4.

  33. TheCountess says:

FYI, Michael Costello is not a “Project Runway” winner. He placed fourth in his season, and third in the (first) “All-Stars” season.

    • Sprink says:

If he’s designing for Beyoncé, I’d say he’s a winner, regardless of Project Runway outcome.

But I ( genuinely) appreciate the pedantry. Facts are facts; the rest is opinion, rumour, and fantasy. 😉

    • Trillion says:

Thanks for pointing that out. As a die-hard PR fan, I would’ve had to have done it had you not. (I’m not so sure if Tim Gunn would approve of those verb tenses).

  34. idk says:

She’s always looked amazing, at any weight. I do think she is a size 2/4. She looks very slim now a days but so does Jay-Z. I think it’s a mix of eating healthy and hard core exercise.

  35. Mrs. Darcy says:

I am 5’5 and when I weighed a very unhealthy 113 I was still a size six. I have a booty for a white girl so I’m not exactly standard issue, but these people are LIARS, sorry. Beyonce looks around 130ish to me. I would guess she’s a curvy 6/8.

  36. CaribbeanLaura says:

I am not a fan of Beyonce really, but the vitirol that I see in the comments on her articles time and time again actually makes me uncomfortable. I mean yes she seems sort of vapid and self-obsessed but that hate she gets here blows my mind! For all her bad, all her misguided comments (at times) she is an extremely hard-working woman and for that I think she deserves some Kudos.

    • Kelly says:

You’re kidding, right? My single mother who’s worked two jobs to bring me up alone deserves kudos. Beyonce is a narcissistic attention seeker who thrives on being the center of attention and on making even more money than she has.
Remember this is the woman who asked her publicist to remove the “unflattering” photos from the internet after her superbowl performance. Yes, she is that vain.
      http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedceleb/the-unflattering-photos-beyonces-publicist-doesnt-want-you-t

      • CaribbeanLaura says:

Whoa< I didn't say that she deserved all the kudos in the world. I don't claim that she is perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Kudos to your mom for sure. The fact is however Beyonce works hard at what she does. And I did mention that she is vapid and shallow.

      • Thatchick says:

This idea that just accepted that Beyonce “works hard” is ridiculous and insulting. She does not write or produce her songs. She just gets in the studio and sings them. She does not choreograph her routines. She is taught them. She does not do her own hair and makeup. She sits in a chair while someone else does it. She does not schedule her own events or interviews, Someone else does. She literally does nothing but show up and learn dance routines and sings songs. But we’re supposed to respect her “hard work”. Give me a break. Beyonce’s fake liposuctioned ass wouldn’t last a day doing what anyone on this forum has to do day in and day out. If she had to be a secretary or a doctor or a police officer or a teacher or anyone else doing ACTUAL work, she would not make it in this world.

She’s a pampered manufactured pop star. She does not “work hard”, people. People ought to think twice before they even say such foolishness.

    • Thatchick says:

If you think Beyonce “works hard” you, like Beyonce, have probably never worked a day in your life at a real job. It’s an insult to hard working Americans to say Beyonce “works hard”. Looking at that Grammy performance, I think most would find her idea of “hard work” insulting.

  37. flotsam says:

I believe it. She’s bigger than a lot of starlets, but many of them are 0/2. I recently read a piece in Slate by Simon Doonan. He went through Marilyn Monroe’s estate and wrote that he was shocked out how tiny her clothes were. She was so voluptuous on screen but in reality was very small. So I believe it of Beyonce. I’m surely bigger than she is, and I routinely wear a size 4, a size 2 when I’m at my lowest weight (granted, in J. Crew, which has some great vanity sizing!).

  38. courtney says:

there’s always been vanity sizing in Hollywood a beloved Oscar winning legend/female once admitted to being between a 4 and 6 when she wasn’t pregnant and going up to a 12/14 when she was expecting but she also made her own clothes or had a studio provided stylist for movies

  39. Alexis says:

I buy it. Why not? She looks like I do (but more toned) and I’m 5’6″ and a 2/4 (in modern vanity sizing). Having hips and thighs doesn’t automatically make you a size 8/10. All sizes are designed to accommodate hips and thighs and all the other lovely female parts. There are “straight up and down” people who are size 0 to 14 to 28, and also pear shaped people in that range.

  40. paranormalgirl says:

I long for the day when a woman’s worth isn’t measured in part by her dress size.

  41. msw says:

Why does anybody give a smelly wet fart about her dress size? I absolutely loathe this kind of ish. We know she is not a size four. And that’s fine, so why do they leak stories like this? GAH. Its just awful and so stupid. These numbers are all bs anyway, especially with made to measure couture.

    • Faye says:

Amen! I wish everyone in Hollywood would take a vow to not have their people release any information about sizes. We can all see what they look like, so size is irrelevant. And between made-to-measure couture, vanity sizing, and differences between how brands size their clothes, the actual number doesn’t mean much these days anyways.

  42. Sprink says:

Having no idea about her dress size, and no desire to learn more, I’d like to propose we at least try to agree that the wet hair–whether you liked it or not–is probably an homage to Flashdance. That’s obvious to anyone if a certain age, and Kaiser even referenced the iconic film in the original post.

  43. Sprink says:

This woman is a pro–she pays homage to Gwen Verdon in video for Single Ladies and to Flashdance at the Grammys. Some might say ‘rip-off’ but it’s basically a tribute. And smart.

  44. candice says:

Enough with the sizes. As Faith indicated earlier, sizes are getting bigger, so when talking about how big or small someone is, talk in meaningful terms such as measurements and weight. A size 8 10 years ago is a size 2 today but 125 lbs is 125 lbs forever and ever — with some variation depending on amount of fat and muscle.

  45. elo says:

Snort…in Kardashian sizes maybe…but all snark aside, Bey has a banging bod so who cares what size she is? She looks phenomenal and IMO always has.

  46. some bitch says:

Bey’s been giving me cokey vibes for more than a year now. Just saying…

  47. Ari says:

wasnt she doing some vegan thing for a bit? maybe thats how she lost the weight? i thought she looked fantastic

  48. Maureen says:

What a bunch of boot-licking liars this industry is filled with!! Beyonce a size 4? Don’t insult our intelligence!

  49. Dommy Dearest says:

Honestly, I’m getting so incredibly tired of seeing celebrities lie about their sizes. What message does that send their fans? For people that try to evoke confidence in your body, they completely ruin that message with claims such as this. She isn’t a big woman at all but a size four is lies. Why can’t they just be honest? I thought Hollywood was out of their phase that thin is in. Quit lying!

    • Mrs. Darcy says:

This. I really don’t care what size people are, but when I am fed blatant lies by people who hold themselves up as role models it irks me, Esp. as the other week she was proseletyzing on re-gaining her body with hard work, any mother can do it blah blah.

      • Dommy Dearest says:

Exactly! She looks awesome and I’m not a Beyonce fan. But it’s clear she’s not a size four.

    • bns says:

How do you know she’s lying? You cannot tell what size she is just by looking at a picture of her.

      • Dommy Dearest says:

Actually, given her curves I’m pretty sure you can. I’ve read comments from others that have seen her in person and testify that her legs ‘are like tree trunks’. I believe she’s a six but not a four. She has a killer body and my point is why lie about a size? Even when Kim claims she’s a size four or two or whatever it is we know she’s lying. She’s a woman that prides herself on having a curvy figure and to claim she’s a four just contradicts what she’s saying.

      • bns says:

        ^ LOL!

You cannot determine a person’s measurements by looking at pictures of them. And it IS possible to be a curvy woman with a small waist.

    • msw says:

I am upset by these plants because what, exactly, is the point? Am I supposed to say, “Oh, now I like her because she is actually TINY!”, or what? Why are they giving credibility to the idea that small size is desirable and thus she is more likeable? FU. Just no. (And if she really is a tiny size 4, fine, I dont GAF what size she is. I do object to the idea that her size has any impact on her likability.)

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

It impacts likability because we live in a society that rewards women for their appearance and would LOVE to keep that system in place so that women will never be valued for more than that. Distill us down to how we look—reduce us to nothing and pretend that we’re not productive, talented, and worthy people who have more to contribute than just a size 4 body.

I realize your question might have been hypothetical in nature, but this is just my way of agreeing with you and pointing out the reason WHY we should fight against this kind of systemic garbage. Beyoncé looks strong and fit to me, and maybe she feels better that way. If so, great, but we all know that the times she’s been a bit heavier the backlash was ripe as hell.

      • Dommy Dearest says:

I honestly can’t tell msw if you’re agreeing with what I said or not because that whole ‘FU’ thing being thrown in there is making me think you’re not. But I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt that the FU is not directed at me so I’m not going to reply to that until I actually know for certain.

  50. Jordan says:

I don’ t know what size she is, but that hair looked terrible!

  51. Cro-girl says:

All size stuff aside – no one can say Beyonce doesn’t have a killer body. She works hard for that. I’d like to see any one of us commenting up there in that outfit. I’d look a bloody mess and Im a size 6 and 5’6.

    • msw says:

Speaking for myself, I think she looks great. I dont care if she got her body working out or through lipo, because I don’t feel like its my business to judge. It’s her choice. What irritates me about this is the assumption that being tiny and a size 2 or whatever makes her more worthy of admiration or more affection. Furthermore, since B keeps a notoriously tight wrap on her image, she probably orchestrated this plant herself.

      • Thatchick says:

Of course she leaked it herself. She has complete and total control over her image and has a vault in her home that contains every single photo and interview she’s ever given. If you see news about Beyonce, it comes from Beyonce. This “leaked” because she thinks her supposedly being a size 2 is something the public needs to know and bow down to her for.

  52. Nene says:

A size US2/4 is a UK6/8 so it’s quite possible she is that size.
I mean, am a UK8 without any effort at all and being big-framed it makes me look slimmer than I am. This might be a good thing but once I lose a little weight, say 5lbs I tend to look too slim.
All am trying to say is that we all carry weight differently.

On a different note, why is Bey being a size 2 news?
In my campus many girls are that size and even smaller but don’t kill themselves excercising or dieting like these celebs do.
I feel the truth is that majority of these celebs have screwed up their metabolism so they have to work extra hard to achieve the size they want. To be honest,if I ate and excercised the way they do, runway models won’t have anything on me.

By the way, Beyonce is an EmPowered woman so being a size 2 is in her power and would make her even more EmPowered.

  53. StaCat1 says:

All this thigh gap talk is sad. No wonder 7-8 year olds know about it and stress about it too.
Why all the talk about her hips and thighs? not about her music?

  54. Jaquebelle says:

Whatever size she is, Beyonce looks GREAT!!! Although I am not a Beyonce fan, I have defended her many times when I felt the criticism was unjust. However, I was underwhelmed by her Grammy performance and was not feeling the hairstyle at all!!! There is a fine line between owning your sexy and pandering vulgarity. Her performance seemed last minute and lacking. Until recently, I maintained some degree of admiration for not taking the route so many female “singers” have gone. It wasn’t in your face. Once you cross the line and lack any substantial depth, it more or less represents the beginning of the end. One love.

  55. Marianne says:

    I wish people didn’t lie.

Beyonce looks fabulous, but she is not smaller than a 4. No way. And honestly, all this is creating is an image that people won’t be able to attain to.

  56. Lux says:

Micheal Costello was SO annoying on Project Runway.

    • Relli says:

I know right. He couldn’t sew, he cried a lot and HIS BIG FAMILY SECRET that he constantly talked about but wouldn’t divulge which, I think now was that he is Traveler and/or Gypsy.

  57. janet says:

She has slimmed down but her gyna looked like it was going to pop out a few times

  58. Barbara says:

My g-daughter (a model) is 6′, weighs 125, and is still a size 4…do not believe Bey “thunder thighs” is anywhere near a size 2

  59. rudy says:

Bey’s body is fairly sexy. But she is still a liar. Her songs are boring. Her voice is boring. She is all about herself always. A narcissistic liar.

  60. ataylor says:

Of course she’s a size 4. I totally buy it. How do I know?

    Two words: vanity sizing.

My neighbor was on the Biggest Loser show and went from a very hefty 280+ to around a 150-160 and was able to fit into a designer size 4 and happily told everyone her new size (not high-end french couture but major designer nonetheless – think Bergdorff’s/Neiman Marcus). What she never mentioned was the fact that the dress was not only from stretchy material, that she had to wear a pair of Spanx just to fit into that dress in the first place nor the fact that when you looked at her up close and in person, there was no way in hell she was smaller than a size 10-12 from 13 or 15-ish years ago (late 90’s – early 00’s) . For what it’s worth, that same size 12 now is the equivalent to size 18 from back in the day.

And yes, she has gained most of the weight back. It’s a shame. It was nice seeing her happy and confident for a change.

  61. TSwise says:

    If she’s a 2/4, then it’s vanity sizing.

  62. gossiphag says:

The hair looks terrible but the memes they did were hilarious!!! Here is the link- http://styleblazer.com/214302/beyonce-2014-grammys-memes/

  63. Happy21 says:

I don’t care much about Bey as I’m totally over her and her husband; however, her body looks like it has totally shrunk. It doesn’t even look like the same body to me. She is strong and muscular and always had, dancer’s legs…Britney Spears has them too. Strong ass legs. Her legs still look strong but much skinnier. It’s really odd. I guess I could suspect lipo because I’m not too sure how one would go about getting a totally different body…

  64. Jenn says:

A dress, maybe 2-4, because she’s got a small waist. I don’t know about pants because she’s still bootilicious.

  65. jj says:

Why is nobody talking about Beyonce lip syncing at the Grammy’s again. I think she is just going the typical -If the talents isn’t there, I can always take my clothes off- route.

  66. Evi says:

It’s really disappointing and disturbing the way the media are focusing on her size and her ‘slimness’. I was watching Extra’s Grammy’s coverage and the dominant theme that they kept on coming back to was how Beyonce achieved her slim body. I’m imagining that young girls watch shows like that as well to see celebrities and that is the message they get [as well as the message that they have to behave like cheap strippers to be adequate women], that it is more important to look like Beyonce than anything else.

  67. lucy says:

In what universe is it OK that a non-nominated performer opened the show performing a non-nominated song?

  68. themummy says:

No freaking way. I’m 5’4 and 108 pounds (yes, a little too skinny…but I have some severe health problems) and I wear a size 1. Before my period I *might* go up a size just for comfort during “fat days.” I no way in HELL believe she is one size bigger than I am. For one thing, she’s tall and bigger boned. She looks thinner than I’ve ever seen her for sure, but It would be a hilarious spectacle seeing her try to fit into my PMS size 2s. I don’t understand why it is so important to her that it get out to the world that she is a size 2 or 4. And I say important to her because many of these stories smell of Beyonce speaking through someone else’s mouth (as is common with many celebs, of course). Size 2 my foot. I find it so disturbing that this is “news,” as though she is even more wondiferous because of her clothes size. Sends a terrible message to women and young girls. You’d think being recognized for her music, that any artist would be recognized for their art, would be THE important thing.

  69. fatamorgana says:

If Beyonce is a size 2-4 then what is Solange, a -00? This whole thing is laughable. Yes, she’s had lipo and recently. You can’t change the shape of your body like that even with exercise and I don’t give an ish what anyone says about it. You know why KK has Kanye’s rent boy on standby to tailor her jeans? Because somehow her arse is a size 10 but her legs are a size 4, Crazy, how is that possible? She’s armenian? born with it? Nope, plastic surgery MOST people, not all but most have proportion to their body, that’s just science, and there are exceptions; different body sizes, the pear, the apple, ect. anomalies of nature like really skinny girls with naturally “tig ole’ bitties” but c’mon! all the celebrities happen to have extreme body types that don’t match, types that became much more exaggerated after they becomes extremely wealthy? Crap, I think maybe Beyonce even did really have a baby but no way in hell in HELL is her plump and lifted butt with really slim thighs and super sculpted abs totally natural. She never looked like that before EVER, her thighs were in proportion to the rest of her body. KK looks like….I don’t even know, beyond silly to me. I mean, she’s so smug all the time, it’s hilarious, her lips are hecka plumped up and she does look ok, even great with the right clothes but in a bathing suit? No way. You can tell she’s had surgery because her butt is ginormous, round, and super super duper uber lifted then it goes down into nothing, her thighs look like someone else’s body. No one changes that much, if you exercise your butt will get bigger to a point, but technically your legs and thighs would get bigger too if you were training like that but Beyonce’s and Kim’s are both super small now. And they both look sculpted like surgery sculpted to me, not exercise sculpted. I don’t know why I felt the need to go on a rant about this, I don’t hate either of them. KK isn’t my favorite or anything, but girlfriend knows how to hustle, respect! I just don’t like these unrealistic expectations everyone has because they are unrealistic. You can run as much as you want, do hundreds of squats, they both do all that and got surgery to enhance what they wanted accentuated and to minimize what they wanted smaller. That is all. We’ve seen these 2 women in the public eye for 10-15 years at least, c’mon! They both never looked like that and 95% of people who do had surgery, I’ll concede that a few folks have ridiculously small thighs, toned tummies, huge round firm zero cellulite lifted butts naturally, but not those 2. Almost though, Beyonce looks like she had the fat sucked out of her thighs and injected into her ass, she looks like she’s wearing a super hero costume all the time, like with a corset, for a few years now and it’s really weird – maybe she just has amazing shape wear who knows. and KK had a bigger butt but she decide to run with it and see how much bigger she could make it, took fat from her thighs then got implants up top along with a whole mess of other stuff above the neck that we don’t want to get into right now. That’s my diagnosis.

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

      I LOVE your comment!

    • Thatchick says:

Finally, someone with some common sense. And you’re exactly right when you said if Beyonce’s a size 2 than what in the world is Solange’s dress size, being that she’s still half the size Beyonce is, even after this extreme weight loss.?

And Beyonce lives in a corset. She’s constantly wearing them. That’s why her waist looks so wide when you see her on the beach.

  70. goddess says:

I honestly don’t care what size she is 6 or 8 or 12 I think she’s gorgeous. just stop lying about your size, i’m sick of all actresses trying to fit themselves into a size 4!

  71. Vanass01 says:

She Be-lying. Lypo for sure. They gap weird.
She got super skinny for Dreamgirls and she had no gap!

  72. Mar says:

I have stood close to Bey at Level Nightclub in Miami. She is not very tall ( say 5’6) and petite. I believe she could be a size 4 as far as her midsection. It’s realistic.
Most celebs look smaller in person.

  73. belle says:

The important thing to note (and someone may have already, I didn’t read every comment) is that it’s a -dress- size 4, not -pants- size four. I wear a dress size 4 and can’t get a size 4 pair of pants more than halfway up one thigh. I need at least an 8 in pants, sometimes a 10 depending on the rise of the waistband.

And yes, vanity sizing has gotten absolutely ridiculous. There was a time when I was wearing size 10 dresses and I tried on a high-end dress just for kicks, and I ended up taking a size 2 in that brand. Crazy. It’s at the point now where one of my healthy, reasonably-sized petite friends has to shop in Gap Kids because today’s size 0 is more like the size 4 of yesteryear.

  74. xoxokaligrl says:

Beyonce has lost a lot of weight, she is smaller than she used to be. Her legs and thighs used to be so huge but I believe that she could be a size 4 -now. Pictures make actresses look bigger than they actually are in general……..
For the record I do not like Bey, but recently she has been looking slimmer.

  75. brionne says:

Beyonce naturally has thigh gap. Her hips are the widest part of her body and she is bowlegged. It’s just the way her legs and hips are set. Her mother is extremely bow-legged. She gets this from Tina Knowles. Beyonce naturally has a gap. I actually don’t care for looking at women’s crotch region…but I’m puzzled why people question this particular girls gap when she has always been wide hopped and bowlegged. Her weight has fluctuated over the years but her thighs have never rubbed together. Her weird gappy walk is what some guys find attractive about her.

  76. brionne says:

5’6 is taller than average in most countries right?

    • Mar says:

5’6 is slightly above average. You can still be that height and easily be a size 4. Kelly R is about 5’8. That is considered tall.

  77. brionne says:

The designer made these comments, not beyonce…So how is she lying?

  78. DrM says:

Who cares what size she is? She looks fab!

  79. bns says:

You people are ridiculous and some of you are just plain stupid.

If this article had been analyzing Lena Dunham’s or Melissa McCarthy’s figures you’d all be whining about how women are pressured to look a certain way or be a certain size, but because it’s someone with an ideal body like Beyonce it’s suddenly okay to tear her apart. The hypocrisy is astounding.

  80. Aly says:

Oh really?? Beyonce is a size 4 or smaller?

*laughs all the way out the door*

Gtfo with your lies. That girl is at least a size 8. Which is not large at all but please at least try to be realistic when you lie for Beyoncé about her size. You do realize we have EYES right?

  81. Meggin says:

I don’t know if I fully believe she’s a size 4. But I like my clothes to be big on me so I’m a bad judge of sizes. I always buy everything way too big lol. I hate tight clothes.

  82. Stephanie says:

I think she got a lipo but years ago. The thigh gap? I think it is just bc she had wide hips so her thighs are naturally further apart then someone like me with narrow hips. Most of my bottom heavy girlfriends have bigger thighs than I do but theirs don’t rub like mine. Back to the lipo. I think she had bc of how looked when she gained weight while pregnant. She is a bottom heavy girl but gained all the weight across her upper back and shoulders. That
tells me she got rid of a lot of fat cells in her lower body.

  83. Fue McCormick says:

Everyone knows that the more expensive the clothing the smaller the “size.” I’m a size 8 at $50 but a size 4 at $500 …

  84. turtle says:

I don’t understand why people behave as if Beyonce does not look significantly different than she did 2 years ago.

Beyonce is clearly a size 4 or less. She is markedly smaller. I noticed it when I was watching the visual album in December.
