Will Mark Ruffalo win all of the Emmys & Golden Globes for ‘The Normal Heart’?

Here are some new photos of Mark Ruffalo, out and about with his family in NYC yesterday. God, I love him so much. We rarely get any pap photos of him, so this is a special occasion. That’s his wife Sunrise Coigney, by the way. I’ve always thought Sunrise is so pretty (and of course Ruffalo would end up married to a woman named “Sunrise Coigney”) but look at those terrible mom jeans!!!! OMG. I didn’t even know they still made mom jeans with elastic cuffs, even “ironically.” Still, they make a lovely couple and Mark is one of those rare dudes who still gives me “I wish he was my forever boyfriend” sighs. So hot. Especially with his dad glasses.

Mark is one of the major actors to take part in the HBO adaptation of The Normal Heart, the Larry Kramer play about the first days of the AIDS crisis. The HBO adaptation is star-studded – in addition to Ruffalo, there’s Matt Bomer, Julia Roberts, Jim Parsons, Taylor Kitsch, Denis O’Hare (I love him), and Jonathan Groff. This is the film that caused Bomer to lose all of that weight and shave his head. HBO just released a teaser and these 45 seconds made me choke up. Damn it, Ruffalo! I’m trying to work here. You beautiful bastard.

So, this is going to win all of the Emmys, correct? And probably all of the Golden Globes too.

Probably him ( This looks amazing!) and McConawhatever with True Detective… i REALLY was praying so hard heart beating all fast and carrying on for two rich actors like It was Really Happening!! LOL

    • Diana says:

Those little seconds just gave me chills. Also, Mark rules. God, I lov him.

    • Maria says:

The final episode of True Detective in two words: nail-biter!!!!

That show will be the big competition for Ruffalo’s project, but they’re both HBO, so that network will win no matter what.

  2. lisa2 says:

This looks really good. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Productions is producing. I have been waiting for the trailer.

  3. Aurie says:

I don’t really see it happening. It will get some feel good PC support but ultimately I doubt it will be successful or widely seen by very many people.

  4. Lilacflowers says:

Can’t wait to see this. He’s a great actor and his own life-story is quite compelling.

  5. Esmom says:

Lol at his wife’s jeans. Wow. I thought the photos were from a film set, seriously, set in the 80s. I realize they must be uber hipsters, then. Sweet family, though, I’ve always had a soft spot for him.

  6. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I forgot about him. He’s adorable.

Sunrise? Someone’s parents need to be slapped, sorry.

  7. Lucy2 says:

I love Mark. Plus Bomer, Taylor, and Denis? I’m there. I will do my best to ignore Julia, Jim, and the fact that Ryan Murphy is involved, that man does not know how to end a story to save his life. Hopefully since this is based on other work he can’t ruin it.

  8. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

He needs to do more hard core cop movies.

  9. Sixer says:

I like him. He kinda looks like a bloke but gives off a Gandhi vibe. Hot, right?

  10. Mia4S says:

I don’t care if anything about the movie wins really, but Ruffalo should win all the awards just for being Ruffalo. 🙂

  11. Charlotte says:

I read it as is he ‘going to win all the hearts’ and thought yes. Yes, he is.

  12. TG says:

Didn’t we just have an Oscar winning movie about the AIDs crisis? Somebody is late out of the water. However, since I grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s if it will teach these sh*thead younger folks about the dangers of STDs I am all for it. It was drilled into us that if you have unprotected sex you will get AIDs and if not that than some other horrible STD. There is nothing cool about that.

I don’t know if it’s going to be in the same category but people are raving about true detective and mathew mccaunaughy and then of course, breaking bad……. (i heard that Breaking Bad and true detective are not gonna be in the same category.) i don’t know about this though

  14. Mom2two says:

If they run True Detective in the miniseries category ( the show and movie will not compete against each other as the emmys have separated the categories of best miniseries and best movie), he will have no shot of winning against Matthew M, because they would be competing for the same acting trophy. If HBO is smart, they run True Detective in best series and give Normal Hearts actors a better shot of winning the acting trophies in the miniseries/movie acting categories.
Matthew and Woody would be front runners and whatever acting category HBO puts them up in.
All of that aside, I do want to watch Normal Heart. Ruffalo looks like he is doing a good job in that one.

    • Algernon says:

Yeah, if it has to compete against True Detective it won’t stand a chance.

    • dizzylucy says:

I’m guessing they’ll want wins for both, so they’ll put True Detective in the series category, even though it’s essentially the same format as American Horror Story (which only wins awards because it’s in the mini-series category, IMO)
MM is pretty much a lock for True Detective, I think.

  15. Mrs. Darcy says:

Love him, it looks emotionally gut wrenching but am sure will watch.

  16. serena says:

Oh man, I love him so much! I can go on rambling about him for hours! I really hope he’ll win every award out there, because he deserves it.

  17. Tiffany says:

This film will not sweep any awards at all because Ryan Murphy has proven time and time again what an a hole he can be when he does not get his way. I think HBO is going to ride the hot hand of McCountneheyheyhey.

  18. Marianne says:

Mark Ruffalo could possibly be a 2 time nominee at the globes since he has Foxcatcher too.

  19. lunchcoma says:

Ah, adorable. This brightens my cranky Monday morning right up.

  20. Naty says:

Well let’s not forget Kevin Spacey for House of Cards, he’s just amazing and Frank Underwood is the role of his life. Same for Robin Wright, but she already have the Emmy, GG and Sag in her sack since her in category as Best leading Actress the other actresses are not as talented as Wright.
