This is a story of a modern blended family of sorts, born out of one of the biggest sports scandals of all time. Lindsey Vonn is the professional skier who believes that Tiger Woods is still some kind of catch despite all the porn star testimonials to the contrary. Elin Woods was married to Tiger when it came out that he was a “sex addict” and serial cheater with an escort in every city.
Tiger’s golf career is winding down and he didn’t even play the Masters this year. So he’s left to try and pick up the pieces of his personal life with his new girlfriend, Lindsey, his ex wife, Elin, and his two kids with Elin. Somehow Elin met Lindsey and liked her. Elin actually went on vacation with Tiger, their two kids and Lindsey. This story is surprising, bizarre and funny when you consider the circumstances.
One insider says that Nordegren, 34, originally wanted to get to know Vonn, 29, because she knew the Olympic gold medalist would be around her children a lot. (The Swedish model and her pro golfer ex-husband, 38, have two kids together, daughter Sam, 6, and son Charlie, 5.)
“After meeting her, she found she actually liked her,” the source says of Nordegren, who finalized her divorce from Woods in 2010, after it was famously revealed that he had cheated on her with over a dozen women.
“You’d think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time,” the source tells Us. “Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman.”
The source adds that the whole group recently went on vacation together, and that the fellow blondes occasionally took off on their own to grab drinks together, while Woods stayed with the kids. “Lindsey is really good for Tiger. She’s strong, opinionated, and keeps him in line,” the source explains. “Elin found that they are very similar and have a lot in common. They laugh and talk like they have been girlfriends forever.”
Lindsey has been with Tiger for a little over a year, so it’s clear that she’s going to be around his kids. In that way it was smart of Elin to get to know Lindsey. Perhaps Elin genuinely likes Lindsey and figures she she should make the best of this situation for the sake of her kids, or maybe she has other motives. Elin played it very smart and kept mostly quiet in the wake of Tiger’s scandal. Maybe I attribute her media silence to a kind of cunning, but I can’t help but think that there’s more to this story than just Elin befriending Lindsey. If my husband cheated on me like that, I would be waiting for him to do it to the next one. I wouldn’t be wishing it on her unless she was a total bitch, but I would assume it would happen. In Tiger’s case it seems pretty inevitable.

I don’t know that Tiger’s golf career is winding down, he wasn’t at the Masters because of back surgery. I’m not sure why people expect him to retire, 38 is not old in golf.
And imagine that, parents of children acting like adults, you don’t say.. It’s not that uncommon, it just seems to be around here.
38 isn’t old for golf but Tiger’s game has suffered since the breakdown of his personnel life. It can be very difficult for pro athletes to get back their mojo after such events.
That’s true but I dunno that I would give up on Tiger just yet.
I’m not a fan, but he won 5 times in 2013 and was Player of the Year. His “winding down” is still better than pretty much anybody else out there.
Tiger’s game has ‘not’ suffered because of his personal life. It has suffered due to injuries. Tiger has raw, natural talent … not mojo; which is why no one has yet to duplicate what he has accomplished in his career. The only record he has left to break/set is Jack Nicklaus 18 majors. Jack won his last major when he was 46 years old.
All pro athletes have both talent and mojo. Any athlete can lose their mojo (which I always think of as a combination of confidence and going with your gut) and retain their talent. The reference to mojo isn’t a slam that Tiger doesn’t retain his talent. It’s an acknowledgement that his personal life impacted his work.
I agree that getting to know and being friendly with the women who will be spending time with your children is the smart thing to do. Good for Elin!

The fact that you don’t “buy it” has no relevance on reality. According to a recent AP poll 51% of Americans doubt the Big Bang Theory and 40% doubt global warming. All that it proves is that people have opinions and some of them are pretty misinformed. As for Tiger being a joke: if I can have a $500 million dollar fortune and have Elin Nordegren as my Ex and Lindsey Vonn as my current girlfriend; I would say the “joke” is on everybody else
Pretty sure she stated clearly in her post that it was her belief; and since Celebitchy is a playground for gossip & speculation, her opinion was not out of place here. If I want statistics and current events, I visit BBC/Reuters/CNN/CSPAN. If I want to put on a tin foil hat and escape from reality a bit, I visit Celebitchy, which targets the entertainment industry. Wow, yuck, that’s cruel and hateful….Elin had no idea for most of their marriage that Tiger was cheating on her. She’s being a mature adult and getting to know her ex’s girlfriend because she’ll be spending time with their children. She’s a wise woman who hasn’t let her ego and hurt feelings get in the way of what’s best for her children.
Tiger had some serious issues beyond ‘just’ stepping out on his marriage. I hope he got some help otherwise i would be careful if i were Lindsey or perhaps she doesn’t care.

It’s probably for the kids which I cannot shade. Hell, I wouldn’t be that bitter–she got maaaaaad bank from Tiger going after Perkins waitresses. I just remember being in JFK airport and the number of mistresses kept going up as I waited for my flight.

That is what I came on here to say &MonicaQ – she had a ton of money now and no longer has to sleep with him. Her gold-digging paid off in dividends. Bonn is not attractive and she looks like Brooke Mueller’s twin, who also isn’t attractive. I too believe this is as massive PR stunt to to rehab Tiger’s image and help promote Lyndsay.
My gosh, where do you get your inside information? Those are pretty harsh words about people you do not know. I doubt very much if Elin was a gold-digger. She comes from a very respectable family background. She stayed out of the spotlight while she was married to Tiger and thought she was in a solid relationship, raising their kids. Save your disgust for Tiger who was the massive cheater and liar. As for Vonn (not Bonn) she has carved out a good career for herself so why take a shot at her looks? That’s just mean. Past mistakes have been forgiven or forgotten for the sake of the children.

Lindsey Vonn is the oldest looking 29 year old ever. My goodness, she looks 39 not 29. Elin looks 10 years younger than her. And she is an athlete , I don’t understand why she looks so aged.
Could be exposure to the elements. Lots of wind in her face all the time. I don’t think she’s unattractive at all, just a little weathered which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
I think so too! I notice that a lot in marathon runners as well. To me, they look much older than their age a lot of the time. I have a theory that high protein, low fat diets combined with tons of high impact work outs (see Maddona) are super hard on your body and do not bode well for aging gracefully.

I hope this is true for the sake of all involved. I’m not sure I could cozy up to my ex’s new woman. I guess it helps that Lindsey is not (as far as we know) one of the women Tiger cheated with. I have to admit, the idea of the two ganging up on Tiger would be delicious.

Re Tiger- I focus on his golf game. When he’s on, it’s amazing to watch. 38 and coming back from back surgery tho- I think the clock is ticking faster.
I admired the way Elin handled the public humiliation brought on by the cheating scandal. This poor woman had to endure all those famewhore, gold diggers who came out of the woodwork to admit their hook ups with her husband. Elin wasn’t doing interviews or posing nude in fashion magazines in the aftermath. She wasn’t popping up on red carpets thirsty for attention. She very quietly went on with her life, putting the focus on protecting and raising their two small children as far away as possible from the media circus surrounding their famous dad’s fall from grace. When she said her main concern was the welfare of her children, she meant it through her actions. She even went back to school to pursue a psychology degree. Even now, she’s once again taking the high road with her civil behavior towards her ex-husband’s new girlfriend.

@Blue Marie. You took the words out of my mouth. 38 in golf is nothing. I am not a Tiger fan but clearly he will be fine. As for the rest. It makes sense for Elin to be a mature woman. She has kids with him. Life is too short to be mad.
Elin is acting in the best interest of her kids which is incredibly admirable. She has taken the high road at every single turn. The kids will read the internet one day and learn of their Dad’s horrendous behavior, but they will have a strong, sane Mom to counter the hurt and shame.

I actually hope this is true. Maybe Im feeling generous today (or feverish…) but maybe just maybe Tiger learned and grew from it. Maybe hell be a good partner to LV. And a good coparent with EN. Maybe they both see redemptive value there.

Whatever works to see more of your kids. That’s the point I’ve gotten to with my ex. I know if my ex found a GF-I wish he would; it might take the edge off-I would go into full diplomacy mode with his new lady..
Bottom line, and it’s amazing how many people never register this-it’s being with the kids that matters. There is no such thing as “quality time” in a divorce (like the time Ivanka Trumps spends with her kid/kids) You can never have enough time with your kids when you are a divorced parent.. Any kind of disharmony between you and the ex-or the ex’s partner-takes away valuable kid-time..
Also, I have a friend whose ex remarried and the new stepmother assumed a paretning role and completely screwed up my friend’s (teenage) daughter. Making chummy with the stepmom-to-be assures that doesn’t happen. Tiger and Elin’s kids are young, too.
I would be really weirded out by this a few years ago, but my fiancee’s mother and his dad’s ex wife are friends. She’s at every family gathering (along with her son, my fiancee’s half brother). It strikes me as very strange, but it apparently works for them and everyone gets along just fine.
