I keep telling you: Angelina Jolie is going to Surprise-Bitch all of us until we see Maleficent. Here are photos of Angelina and Brad at last night’s “private reception” at Kensington Palace which was some kind of Maleficent screening-plus-fundraiser for the Great Ormond Street Hospital. As you can probably tell, Angelina is still channeling Maleficent in this black Versace gown (and Louboutins).
If I’m being completely honest, I hate this Versace. I’m only giving it a chance because Angelina is wearing it, but if it was anyone else, I would have written this off at first glance. Since it’s Angie, let’s analyze. First off, the dress has built-in shoulder pads. Angelina already has great shoulders – there is absolutely no reason for her to wear a gown with shoulder pads other than the fact that Angie’s default style comes from the Dynasty era. Secondly, while the beading is fabulous, the sacktastic cut of the dress on the bust is SO unflattering and uneven. It makes her look like not only are her boobs sagging, but one is sagging more than the other. Thirdly… yeah, this just feels like a costume. Like, this is what Maleficent wears to a Totally Eighties party.
As for Brad… he looks good. I want to burn those glasses, but his suit is lovely and I can handle the slicked-back hair. I kind of wonder if he wears Transitions lens like Matt Damon.
Incidentally, in case you were wondering if the tabloids were going to find a way to pit Angelina against George Clooney’s new fiancée, ding ding ding, we have a winner! The Enquirer says Angie is “fed up with all the fuss being made over Amal…Angelina’s worked hard to establish herself as THE celebrity humanitarian, but now that George has Amal on his arm, she feels threatened that she and Brad… can be knocked off their pedestal.” Considering George just cashed in his proverbial humanitarian chips by signing off as a UN goodwill ambassador for peace, methinks Angelina doesn’t have that much to worry about.
By the way, The Wrap says that Maleficent is on course to open with $60 million. Disney is targeting moms and daughters, although I hope they’re not trying to sell it to really little girls (like, under 6). Maleficent opens on May 30th here in America, but the UK gets it on May 28th.

I feel his pain. My eyes are mega sensitive on a good day, toss a migraine into the mix and I’m done for.
Perhaps he is like me – the optometrist said my eyes don’t function totally properly and that my pupils let in too much light meaning I am insanely light sensitive. The sun, bright lights, flahses… even traffic lights at night can be too much for me!

I almost never like her style, but this is stunning. It’s even better because it’s TOTALLY her but also beautiful and embellished and well-fitted, which are not words I associate with Jolie. Sleeves, neckline, and back are all incredible.

I don’t get it, especially since George Clooney has already said that he and Brad are industry friends. I’d say that they only see each other if they are in LA at the same time, and the majority of that time is limited to awards shows–the rest goes to dinner and cocktails. So it’s not like they’d even spend any REAL time with each other–certainly not enough to have a bitchy feud between them.

Umm…no she can’t. She has a weird boxy frame that doesn’t lend itself to every style. Then there is the fact that she can work herself too hard (what with directing, producing and raising kids. even with help its still a job) to the point of losing too much weight. She has body issues, just like the rest of us. Her face, OTOH, is striking. Always has been, always will be.

Shhh, let it be. It’s funny when people make wild predictions and forgo all logic. Jolie can open pretty well (in certain genres) but she never opened with more than 60million+, not even with Pitt as her co-star. Can she open with more? I think so yes but 100 million is really out there.

there is a mistake about the Box Office. maleficent is on tracking for a + 60 millions OW. At this point ( 3 weeks before the release) it`s doing similar to Oz which means a 80 million OW is quite possible allthough OZ opened in March and with less competition.

The dress makes her look too matronly, like she raided the attic of her great-great-great grandmother…but maybe she’s dressing for premieres with dresses that are along the same lines as the movie or her character, which seem to be dark? I’d probably like it more if it was shorter and maybe had a sparkly and/or colorful necklace or pin, or another colorful accessory somewhere to break up the solid black a little bit. I do love the color of her lipstick and the way she has the top front section of her hair pulled back separately from the sides, it’s different and interesting.

I would love to hear a conversation between Amal and Brad. Brad is one of those people who thinks he’s a lot smarter than he is because he knows a little about a lot of different subjects and can throw in a lot of buzz words. When I hear him trying to sound like an intellectual it always makes me cringe. Amal is a very educated woman and Angelina is a college drop out so I’m sure Angelina might feel a little insecure holding a conversation with her. Amal can run circles around both of them in the brains department. Please don’t tell me about how successful they are in Hollywood. Angelina is beautiful but aside from hitting the genetic lottery she’s done nothing to achieve her great beauty.
I wouldn’t dismiss a person easily as non intelectual just because that person a college drop out or not really articulate. I have learned that there are things that you just can’t get from school. Also, beauty alone would not be enough for someone to reach her A-list level in Hollywood since there are tons of beauties out there.
