Angelina Jolie wears a crow-printed dress to UK photocall: gorgeous or dated?

Dear Angelina Jolie: STOP WITH THE SHOULDER PADS. It’s not 1987 anymore!! I actually wonder if she’s doing shoulder pads nowadays as an effort to “balance out” her reconstructed breasts, which I think we can say… they have not “settled” yet. They look bigger than the originals, and they’re higher too. I think Angelina is wearing shoulder pads because she doesn’t know how to dress her current upper body. Just a theory.

Anyway, these are photos from the daytime photocall for Maleficent in London today. Angie’s dress has CROWS on them. I think it’s adorable that Elle and Angie are doing clothes with the Maleficent “theme” – Elle is usually dressed like a princess of light, Angelina’s been doing the goth thing. But I appreciate that Angelina mixed up a little bit with some crows. Maleficent loves her crow. Or is it a raven? I know I’m going to get yelled at for that, so bring it on. I’ll be damned if I can find the designer IDs on these dresses, but I’ll update if I see them. Update: Angie’s dress is Versace!

Angelina also gave some interviews/statements to the press last night and today in London. When asked about the Nigerian school girls who were abducted weeks ago, Jolie said:

“These men thought that they can get away with this, that they could abuse them in such a way, sell them, rape them, take them as property, because so many people have gotten away with this in the past because of this culture of impunity.”

[Via The Independent]

It’s worth noting that just after the Maleficent event last night, Angelina and Brad went out for a late dinner with UK Foreign Secretary William Hague as well. I would imagine that Hague and Jolie had a lot to talk about – she’s expected in London next month for a huge event for violence against women.

Angelina also had some good quotes about how Maleficent was always her “favorite” when she was little and “I wasn’t into princesses and I thought she was so elegant and so powerful…She scared me a little bit.” She also talks about how she’s constantly worried about her children, so much so that she can’t sleep at night sometimes: “Of course just anything happening to somebody that I love is my greatest fear. There’s a lot that keeps me up a night, there’s a lot of bad stuff going on in the world.”

PS… SHOES. Look at the fake blood!! That’s amazing.

I love the Maleficent theme that’s going on….the Raven dress is bad A** and the bloody shoe is awesome. I’m really looking forward to this movie. She looks gorgeous, but I still don’t think she looks well…..her color doesn’t look good and circles under her eyes.

    • Nicolette says:

The whole look is perfect for promoting this film. The shoes are amazing.

    • doofus says:

not usually a fan of white dresses, but I do like this one…maybe it’s the crow/raven. and those shoes! GAH, they’re fab.

“They look bigger than the originals”

careful, you’ll start up the masses with the demands for photo proof that these are bigger…

(and, IMO, these pics are proof that she went a little bigger. AND THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, so don’t jump on me, please!)

ETA: I just noticed that she has white stuff all over her legs, and you can see it on her foot in the shoe pic…powder to ease into the shoes, maybe?

      • Cecilia says:

Yes, her boobs definitely look much bigger than the originals & it does look like they are sitting too high. The dress is ok, minus the shoulder pads. I do not like these shoes. They look painful. I think the white stuff on her legs & tops of her feet are dry skin. Girl needs lotion.

      • V4Real says:

Angie breasts are the same size as they were before the surgery. How dare you haters and JenHens spew such nonesense. See look at this topless pic of Angie when she was modeling, her breast are the same size.

        DAMN YOU JEALOUS HATERS

      • doofus says:

oh, V4Real…you literally made me LOL with that link. thanks!

      • Tiffany :) says:

I feel it is kind of wrong to focus so much on the size/shape of her new chest. She had a double mastectomy. That means they had to remove all of her original breast tissue. Of course they will look different! They ARE different! A C cup implant for reconstruction isn’t going to look like a natural C breast. It can look great, but it won’t be the exact same.

As we know this was a medical procedure, it seems odd to me to analyze it like she got new lip injections or something. It just feels more invasive, but I do have family members who have had mastectomys, so perhaps I am overly sensitive about this issue.

      • Sugar says:

It’s not dry skin. More than likely it’s HD powder to set leg makeup. She has a bit of her face, too. That HD powder is notorious for showing up white under when flashes go off.

      • Delorb says:

Weren’t they fake prior to her mastectomy? When I read about her surgery, I thought that she just had her implants removed. My bad.

    • Birdix says:

She’s a bit Weekend at Bernie’s wax figurish in these images, right? (ducks)

    • Olenna says:

ITA with everything you said, and I also wonder if her health is not as good as she tries to project.

      • ~Z~ says:

Pretty sure that’s a WIG she’s wearing….It looks fairly obvious to me, does anyone else see it?

      • Cecilia says:

~Z~, It crossed my mind that she is wearing a wig. It looks way too poufy & her hairline looks un-natural.

      • ~Z~ says:

Thanks for your reply Cecilia….that exactly it, I noticed the hairline even in the small pic for the story!
Geez, I hope she really is alright.

      • Olenna says:

If its a wig, I hope it’s not an indication that she’s undergoing therapy. The thought of this makes me feel kinda sad. She really is a good egg.

      • @Z
She’s always worn her hair in that style though–it’s gotten thinner though (her hair was thicker when she was thirty)….but I’m a horrible judge of wigs or hair pieces/extensions (unless it’s super obvious)–so I’m not the best judge.

      • ~Z~ says:

Well, I used to be a hairdresser, so I can spot them sometimes. I could be wrong though! Have a great weekend everyone! ♥

      • Melanie says:

No, that’s not a wig. I can clearly see her hairline and baby hairs in the zoom. She wears her hair like this a lot. And I agree on the HD powder. Not sure why they put that all over her legs. Other products would work much better if they were trying to cover something up, or highlight. Not sure when these makeup artists are going to figure out that flash photography doesn’t mix with HD powder.

I’m dying over these shoes! OMG they are so perfect for the event. And the dress is lovely as well. I don’t wear white, but I’d wear that!

      • Delorb says:

@~Z~, I was just about to post this, “The first pic looks like a lacefront wig. “, when I saw your post. The other pictures look a bit more natural, but that first one, yikes.

      • crumblycookie says:

I had the misfortune of losing my hair many years ago due to cancer treatment and bought a very nice (and very pricey – $2500) lace-front wig. I am pretty familiar with the way they look along the hairline, and I’m 99% sure she’s wearing one. Yes, her baby hairs are showing on the right side of her hairline (the left side of the picture), but I’m almost certain it’s a wig. It’s always hard to completely pull off a wig convincingly along the hair line–that’s why a lot of wigs have styles with bangs and framing around the face–it makes them less obvious.
The good news is that since I’m pretty sure her baby hairs are visible, it probably doesn’t mean she is undergoing any kind of treatment for cancer. Maybe like many women (unfortunately for me as well), once you get to a certain age, your hair just isn’t as thick as it used to be. Dang hormones!
I like her dress. . . it fits beautifully, but I don’t think she needs the shoulder pads. But I’m not too crazy about the shoes.

      • Isadora says:

I really hope it’s not a wig because hair loss combined with her current weight ( she’s smaller than the slim 16 year old girl next to her) … well, let’s not go there. I just would see it as a rather bad sign and I hope that’s not the case.

However I’m glad to say that I personally don’t think it’s a wig.

      • Lauren says:

I noticed Angelina’s hair looked like it was thinning at the crown and at the back of her head- a few weeks ago in an airport pic. Looks like a wig. Angie still looks gorgeous. Adore her fashion choices too. Very unique.

Angie often looks exhausted and her life is insanely hectic. If her hair is thinning, i am not surprised. Hope Angie is well.

    • ArtHistorian says:

The dress is gorgeous! Love the pleating on the bust.

    • Ginger says:

      I love it too

    • Miffy says:

I’m obsessed with that crow print. I think they could have whacked her in a Golden Girls inspired geriatric old lady number and as long as it had that print I’d be all lusty over it.

The blood dripping shoes… meh. They’re cool but coupled with the crow print it’s a bit… too much. Yeah, we get it, you’re Maleficent. One or the other methinks.

    • Belle Epoch says:

I love this series of costumes/dresses for her Maleficent promos!!! Angelina is HAVING FUN!

  2. Dawn says:

So I like it and since I’ve not seen anything like it I would not call it dated. I think she looks wonderful! And I can’t wait for this movie to come out. I am hoping that it will be as good as I now imagine it to be.

  3. mia girl says:

I really love this dress and she looks fantastic. I don’t mind the shoulder pads, think they work… but I wish the hem had been a tad shorter – it would look much better.

    • LadyMTL says:

I’m torn about the shoulder pads, because from the front it doesn’t look too bad. In profile, though…yikes. Still, I adore the print and the shoes. If I could find a dress like that I’d wear it allllll the time, lol.

    • K says:

I feel the hem should have been shorter or longer. The current length is hitting her wrong, and ruining the edginess of the dress.

    • phlyfiremama says:

Maybe the shoulder pads aren’t to balance the boobs but to distract from her thin frame? Give her some bulk, so people don’t freak out “OMG Angies STARVING” so much. I LOVE the dress, the shoes, the FACE (How does Brad get anything done? I would just stare at her all day!), and the makeup~she looks drop dead gorgeous!! I will be taking my 15 year old niece to see this movie when it comes out, we both are SUPER excited about seeing it.

      • hazeldazel says:

I thought the same thing too – the shoulder pads and poofy hair to balance her emaciated frame. I like Angie I do, but she is very very very thin – much thinner than she was in her 20’s. I just hope she gets to a happier/healthier place.

  4. notpretentious says:

Gorgeous! But what’s with the powder on her legs???

    • Artemis says:

I was thinking the same. How did that end up there?

Nice to see the Joling posing together again but the giggly photos of a few days back were better.

    • doofus says:

I noticed that too…I was thinking maybe baby powder to make it easier to get a non-stocking’d foot into that shoe?…

  5. Isa says:

    Yay it’s not black!

I love this dress and the shoes!!!!

    But what’s on her knee?

  6. CharlotteS says:

She looks beautiful as always, but the makeup on her legs is a bit noticeable.

  7. betsyd says:

I’m too distracted by the powder on her leg to analyze the loathsome dress.

  8. Tatjana says:

I like the dress. It gives her the illusion of a waist. I don’t think her breast didn’t settle, I think she got them too big. I don’t like her hair and why is her face always so shiny?

    • Jasna says:

Yeah, she really looks like she has a waist. And hips.

    • I think her face is shiny because she didn’t wear any powder on her face, for the flashes on the rc. At least that has been my understanding.

      • Liv says:

Tere are dewy foundations, and even the powders the artists use would give that effect instead of mattifying. I read somewhere that she uses Laura Mercier, but she is probably adding Mac and the collection from Maleficent to her makeup.
I do not think it is botox, she just stepped out of backstage, and has powder over her. She obviously favors the dewy look, and has for some time.

    • V4real says:

No complaints about the size of her boobs from me but those shoulder pads are killing me. She looks good here besides that powdery stuff on her legs.

    • lucy2 says:

I’d like to know what sort of shaping garment she wears, because in some outfits it definitely gives her a waist she doesn’t really have.
As for the shoulder pads, I think Kaiser is right about her trying to balance her chest.

      • Ennie says:

The couture dress is the one giving her that shape. Other Versace dresses she has worn have that structured torso, which on her is very flattering.
Beautiful draping in the waist. The shoes are awesome.
The style of dress reminds me of the Ralph and Russo dress with the big draped rose on her shoulder.
The pads or whatever do not bother me. They work with the dress. Makeup is great as usual . She is probably using the neutrals from the Maleficent MAC collection.

    • MaiGirl says:

I think that they are too big, as well. They are a little on the distracting side, honestly! She is such a naturally beautiful person that they kind of take away from that natural look.

    • Ms.Virago says:

That shiny waxy look (like an oily candle) is the result of botox.

  9. amanda says:

good point on her new boobs and the shoulder pads, maybe she just needs time to figure that out, maybe she’s just an old lady at heart…? lol

does she need moisturizer or did she brush up against some drywall? because her legs and foot are a bit dry-looking, huh?

also, is it weird that I like seeing little things like that on famous people on red carpets? makes me remember they’re human and little things like that can slip by even Queen Jolie.

    also, sweet shoe detail.

  10. Kali says:

Love the dress and covet the shoes. That is all 😍

  11. OriginalCrystal says:

That dress is awful but she remains flawless. How can one person can be so beautiful? I just don’t get it.

I haven’t seen her with colour on her lips in a while (maybe I haven’t been paying attention?) and she looks so great with it.

Elle is a cutie. I like that she dresses for her age and doesn’t overdo the make-up.

I thought Angelina’s shoes were bad in black but they look straight awful in white. And are her feet ashy or is that something else ? Do white people even get ashy feet ?

    • mkyarwood says:

I’m thinking it’s some kind of photo powder similar to the one they use for the face. The flashes are a bit crazy at these things.

    • homegrrrl says:

Anyone next to AJ pales. It’s cool how there is a theme to promote the film, and a grandma dress with a raven print is very edge. Plus the shoes- it all must be very fun. Still, I think her chest looks bigger because of the gathering of the dress and she is Nancy Reagan thin. I can’t imagine having energy to stand with this type of skinniness. I’m guessing she’s a true ectomorph.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

The shoes are pretty amazing. Christian Louboutin made them especially for the Maleficent character.

I think the dress is beautiful on her.

  12. don't kill me i'm french says:

The white is NOT her color. Her breast is too big and she needs to gain several pounds
Her shoes are nice .but the powder on her leg is …meh

  13. lenje says:

Love the dress. It’s pretty and fun at the same time. I don’t mind the shoulder. The shoes are fancy but meh.

    As for Elle’s dress… I don’t really like it.

  14. t says:

Her legs are too skinny, her whole body looks strange

  15. Frida_K says:

    The SHOES!!

I have a pair of shoes that are platform with a wavy heel–somewhat in this vein–and I love them. I love odd heels.

    She RULES.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Frida, I could never wear those, but have always been curious about what they’re like to walk in. Do they feel like regular heels? I can’t wear high heels, much to my sorrow.

      • Frida_K says:

My shoes are surprisingly comfortable. The platform (for whatever reason) gives support to the shoe so that I don’t feel on tip-toe. The trick is to be aware of my ankles. As long as I don’t roll out on my feet or walk sloppily, the shoes are very comfortable. If I’m lazy, they’re a little wobbly. I can even run (slowly and for a short distance) in them.

        I love intense shoes.

        🙂

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Oh, they sound beautiful. You’re lucky. I just can’t wear over a two inch heel or the balls of my feet feel like they’re on fire. Don’t know why, but I love shoes with a passion so it’s frustrating. Enjoy all of your pretty heels for me!

  16. MsMercury says:

She looks good. I normally dislike almost everything she wears but this is good. I’m glad it isn’t black! lol I love her lipstick.

  17. Allie says:

I like this dress, but are she and Elle going to be dressing in character for the rest of the pole dance? Because that’s a little cheesy.

    • Esmom says:

Ha, I was thinking that right now it might be kind of fun for them to be dressing up like crazy for these events, but that it will probably get old really quickly.

  18. OlyB says:

Question: if this were a cancer survivor who had undergone a mastectomy, would you be kvetching about shoulderpads and musing about how wonky you consider her breasts to now be? Is the outfit so uninteresting that we have to be first invited to speculate in what lies beneath?

    • FingerBinger says:

I agree. I cringe when people talk about her breast implants. It just seems inappropriate to be judging a woman’s body after she’s had a mastectomy. She had the surgery to save her life. The breast implants are to make her body feel “normal,” not because she’s being vain and wanted gigantic boobs.

      • Yeah, I don’t like the comments on her breasts. First off, who cares if she got them bigger than her orig. size. I don’t think her chest looks any different, other than the fact that they are now higher up than they were after breastfeeding three kids. She’s always had big boobs for her frame. But the woman had a double mastectomy–it wasn’t like she went out and got boobs for fun. I find it insulting and demeaning–especially to the people who say she overreacted and/or just wanted implants (which has been said on this site before). Would they be saying this sort of thing to a family member who went through the same thing?

      • BNA FAN says:

I totally agree with you why people are talking about Angelina’s breast. The people finding fault know it takes time for her breasts to settle after her operation. Her operation was done to save her life. What’s the big deal if her bust a little bigger, also, Angle was never flat chested. Check out some of her old photos, her breasts was about the same size it is today. IMO, it’s just another reason to find a fault with her knowing her face is flawless, so let’s find something to criticize about her.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree 100%! Her surgery was done for medical reasons, not cosmetic. I think it is inappropriate to judge how she is healing.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        Agree with all. Insensitive.

      • JessMa says:

VC, people will always talk about boobs. Big boobs, small boobs, reconstructed boobs, nursing boobs, etc. I feel like our culture is obsessed with boobs. I do feel like she shouldn’t be critized for the size though. It is probably hard to guess the exact amount of CCs that will equal the old breast tissue. Also I have heard from countless woman the surgeons always push for bigger.

    • Andrea1 says:

      This to the power 1000000000th!
      Thank you!

    • Maya says:

Seek cover my friend – the ball ladies will act all sanctimonious and attack you for this comment. They don’t like anyone saying anything against their vile attacking comments and will instead calls us rapid, illogical and extreme.

      • Andrea1 says:

@Maya this is what Kay said yesterday ….
“I find it funny that some of you actually think you’re better than the super fans meanwhile you’re all the same;a bunch of people who never left high school. I always thought I was immature for my age (18) but that was until I met you guys”.
kay stated the very obvious. That is some 18year old making So much sense! They bash the fans or the superfans or fanatics as they call us the JP fans! And they are no different from any of us. #shinningmybrangelinabadgeofhonour#
Paige said this yesterday and I completely agree…
“There are four types of people on here. The ones that just read gossip blogs, the rabid fans, the people that only spew hate, and the people that seem to think they have to defend people that spew hate. It’s entertaining”
And I wonder why they have to defend people who spew hate here smh!
        Again OLYB thanks for that!

      • Tiffany :) says:

Maya, the “ball ladies” are against the vile and rabid attacking of anyone connected with the “triangle of doom”. It is the hyperbole on all sides that the Balls are intended to diffuse.

You know you are in the true center when JP fans accuse you of being an Aniston Stan, and JA fans accuse you of being a Brangeloonie.

      • doofus says:

        and herein lies the problem.

most of the comments that the superfans go ballistic about ON THIS SITE are NOT “vile” or “attacking”. while I agree that there are many out there that do, in fact, write comments that ARE “vile” and “attacking”, those are not the ones that appear on this site. Let me say that again for those who don’t get it. THOSE ARE NOT THE ONES THAT APPEAR ON THIS SITE.

by all means, go defend Jolie when people DO make vile and attacking comments. she doesn’t deserve most of the crap that’s thrown at her, and the comments made about her children are terrible, but please don’t equate the vile and attacking comments with the tame and fairly innocuous ones that appear here.

no one thinks they’re “better” than the superfans. no one is defending the vile comments. what people are throwing balls for is when someone makes the SLIGHTEST criticism and we see a several-paragraph-long narrative about how the poster is a “hater”, a “JenHen”, a “FFer” and so on. You’ll notice that most of the people throwing balls actually like Jolie and think she’s a wonderful person, but those same folks are tired of being lumped in with all of the nasty posters when they make ONE TINY comment that a superfan sees as criticism.

NO ONE IS IMMUNE. we criticize everybody on this site, one way or another.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Maya, you will never get it. It’s sad.

Doofus, I respectfully disagree. Some of the comments made on the Anniston/Jolie threads were so vicious and long and ridiculous that “normal” posters just stopped feeling welcome to comment. I don’t know how you can deny it. Posting on here was like walking into a mine field, and these threads were so different from the other, fun CB threads. I think we just all got sick of it at the same time, and the balls thing started. I’m sorry that some people took it personally, because it wasn’t ever meant to be, or meant to be in support of either one, and it makes me shake my head when there are comments like Maya’s. A sense of humor is essential to a good life.

      • doofus says:

Hi GoodNames…not sure I understand what you think I’m denying?…I fully agree that some posters attacked each other quite viciously, but what I meant was that I don’t see “vile and attacking” comments made against Jolie on here. that’s the only distinction I was making…

        …perhaps I misunderstood?…

      • JessMa says:

I totally get what you are saying Doofus. There are a handful of mega fans that will take anything even slightly negative and freak out. They will even turn on their fellow fans. I am sorry, but there is a huge difference between someone saying I wish she gets cancer versus someone saying she would look even better with 10 more pounds.

If someone says something horrible about her or her children, then by all means go nuts. But if someone says I don’t really like this dress or I don’t like her with blond hair, perhaps show some restraint. FYI the people saying truly horrific things are trolls and they want to set you off. They find it amusing to get you all worked up.

      • Ennie says:

        @Tiffany, @doofus, et al

What I have seen is even before the balls started rolling, there were some posters who became ultra defensive and started attacking the fans when they had not even written anything.
Since the balls started, I have seen them used mostly “against” the fans, super fans or against comments that respond to criticisms against the JP , but sometimes those responses are not aggressive, are well written and still the balls appear “watch out” etc, written even by posters who write their criticism in a not very nice way…
so, the critics should have the right to critic which/however they like, say that she looks like a corpse, etc (last thread), but the fans must be very well spoken and not refute or discuss because balls will be thrown at them?
I disagree. I know some proJP fans have been quite extreme in their defense, but they are having an opinion, there is a poster that is always criticizing the JP fans even before anyone is posting, and then if they post she criticizes what they say… so they must not post what they think? Let it be discussion.
Whatever, I love how she looks, but I love more how she speaking out on the Nigerian girls issue. I am doing my little effort to keep it on the news by reading about it and posting it on my FB page and twitter.
Such a difficult problem to solve.

      • doofus says:

        To JessMa:

“there is a huge difference between someone saying I wish she gets cancer versus someone saying she would look even better with 10 more pounds.”

yes, that’s what I mean. just as there is a difference in simply NOTING (as Kaiser did in her post) that Jolie may have gone up a size versus saying that “they look ridiculous” or that she got “circus t*ts” or that she only went through her difficult surgeries so she could get them, etc…I think they look good (NOT too big) and I also think they’re slightly bigger than her original ones (again, NOT TOO BIG), and I’m not criticizing her for going bigger. IF she did, in fact, go bigger.

Unfortunately, some folks see a simple observation with no criticism as the worst slur against her, akin to the ones wishing cancer on her or her children.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

No, doofus, I misunderstood what you meant. I’m sorry. I was in a hurry and I didn’t read carefully enough. My fault.

    • KatNotNice says:

It’s Celebitchy, not a sanctimonious place though… people will always point a celeb’s body part regardless of the circumstances, Jolie is no different, whether one likes it or not…

      • Okay, but every single post of hers, there is always people pointing out her breasts. How they’re huge, they look fake, etc. We know her breasts are implants. We know why she got them. Her breasts are fake. She has NO breast tissue left–it is all implant. So why is it surprising that her breasts are larger (after breastfeeding three kids) and sitting up higher on her chest? They actually do remind me of how her chest used to be when she was young with no kids.
        http://www.look.co.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/node-gallery-display/gallery/5856/9%20angelina-jolie-gold-maxi.jpg
It would be a different story if she got the breasts on a whim, but she didn’t. So I would find it VERY hard to talk about someone’s breasts when they got a mastectomy. Very hard. I think her breasts look quite nice, and if they looked ugly or really fake, then I wouldn’t say anything at all.

I imagine it must’ve been very hard for her to decide to get the implants, simply for these comments alone.

      • KatNotNice says:

@ Virginia like I said, Celebitchy is not a sanctimonious place, it’s a gossip blog, all celebs will discussed, whether on the good, bad and ugly etc. So you can defend it all you want but Jolie isn’t above criticism regardless of her masectomy, it’s rather an excuse at this point. The same can be said about her weight that subject is brought up just as much. Anyway my point is, in general on gossip blogs all celebs are criticized on a certain body part or their public character and other persona, Jolie is not exempt from it. If it bugs you that much I guess at best you just have to ignore it and focus your on better topics about her, all good and fair after all, one can’t police people speaking their minds. People can adore her but they can’t possibly expect rainbows and sushine comments on a thread and yet they are ok to tear down another celeb in a different thread.

That said I don’t care about her breasts nor body, my point was the criticism/body part on celebs stuff in general.

      • Katherine says:

Kat, you miss the point. it’s not that she’s above criticism in general or even criticism of other body parts because of her mastectomy. But her breasts SHOULD be above criticism. Yes, even here some things are still too much.

What kind of a person, especially a woman, criticizes or makes fun of a woman’s reconstructive breast surgery to prevent cancer? That goes way beyond celeBITCHy. Unless you are one of those who think this was all some trick to just get a boob job. I certainly hope not.

Hasn’t this been discussed ad nauseum and haven’t we all been educated enough by this point about reconstructed breasts after mastectomies? When there is NO breast tissue left to soften the outlines of an implant surgeons recommend you go up in size to lessen the gap between the breasts. But, yes, Angelina had large breasts to begin with.

    • The Original Mia says:

Agreed. Whatever she’s done to her breasts, she didn’t do it out of vanity. She did it to bring her body back to what it was before the mastectomy.

I have one breast bigger than the other. Do I care? Hell no. I’m just thrilled I don’t have to worry about breast cancer anymore.

      • Andrea1 says:

The Original Mia congrats on being healthy.
That is want counts and what matters most not what people have to think about you or say.

      • My mom just got back, a few days ago, from getting a lumpectomy, and the cancer removed from her breast. She has to go in for chemotherapy in a while. I’m glad you’re all right. I was freaked out about my mom’s cancer for a while, even after learning it was Stage 1.

      • Andrea1 says:

        Oooops double comment deleted

      • The Original Mia says:

Thanks, Andrea & Virgilia. I was faced with the same choice as Angelina, so it grates when I hear people harp on her breast size. It’s been 7 years for me. They aren’t perfect. I miss my old ones, but the fact that I walk into my gyno every year and don’t have to worry about them is a blessing. Especially when my family starts talking about their experiences with cancer.

@Virgilia, I’m glad they caught it early. You make sure you take care of yourself as well.

    • Jem says:

Um… TECHNICALLY, she’s not a breast cancer survivor. She was at high risk – it runs in her family, killed her mom – and took a pre-emptive strike. She was NOT diagnosed with it, was NOT fighting it. I’m not sure you can be a “cancer survivor” if you have not actually had cancer. Am I right?

      • lenje says:

Yeah, but a mastectomy is an extremely hard decision for any woman to make. Even if your life is actually in danger and you don’t have other choice. It is a BIG change and it will definitely affect you emotionally, as much, and perhaps much more, than physically.

      • V4Real says:

You are right but that doesn’t help their argument. I also highly doubt that Angie spends much time siting around reading comments that people are making about her.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Jem, she has the BRCA gene. Does one really need to have cancer grow in order for cancer to have a powerful impact on their lives and their health?

I think science has moved past that.

      • Ennie says:

She did not have cancer, Probably not “technically”. Melissa Etheridge she had the mastectomy out of fear. OF course it was out of fear.
If her family has been diminished tnx to that particuary aggressive cancer, if she is approaching THAT age. If she knows that sometimes early detection is still too late. It has been discussed to death. you have to weigh the odds. She has a bunch of young chidden ad has a lot to lose against a pair of good looking breasts that have already accomplished their main function with her babies. Now they are only a time bomb.
I would say off with them! And remember that as she does not have uch fat in her body, nor mammary glands anymore, they are just artificial and they will look artificial for a long while. But she does not have to worry about THAT anymore.

Shame that they do not make artificial lungs, they would come handy in my family.

      • Katya says:

        SO WHAT?

Would you be happier if she had waited ?o be diagnosed with breast cancer before having the surgeries? That’s what I took from Etheridge. A 95% chance of contracting breast cancer is damn near a certainty. Angelina’s mother; maternal aunt; uncle; grandfather; grandmother and great-grandmother all died at very early ages of cancer. Her grandmother WAS FORTY-FIVE. Voight’s mother also died of cancer — although in her later years. If this was PR stunt obsessed actor like Reese Witherspoon who works day and nite to convince all butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth I seriously doubt you would take this attitude.

    • Maria says:

Meanwhile in former Kim K and Gaga threads folks have no qualms talking about their breasts, what’s the difference?

Is one woman more worthy of consideration or does refraining from body commentary only apply to certain people?

What Angelina did was brave but she isn’t a cancer survivor, didn’t battle for her life, and was financially fortunate enough to afford the testing/ reconstruction surgeries necessary to look “normal”.

I don’t think anyone (here) would comment on a SURVIVOR’S body because a mastectomy isn’t typically their choice, plus, human decency.

NOTE: saying this in no way takes away from the choice Jolie made, in fact, it says a lot about her sense of worth/self to make this decision. She took control and gave genetic predispositions the finger (which is awesome sauce)!

I just wish people would stop grouping her with survivors who kicked cancer’s ass because it takes away from THEIR battle. You can certainly draw a parallel without equating the two.

This IS a celebrity blog and fashion is discussed; Kaiser threw out a theory about the shoulder pads, she didn’t shame her ( folks who lose/gain weight often go through a phase where they don’t know how to dress for their new body, new breasts/ass can fall under this too).

As for the dress: I like it minus the shoulder pads, dislike the shoes, her MUA went too heavy on the concealer.

Angie could wear a trash bag and look great; I just wish she’d try different lip colors other than nude/red–with those lips she’d slay a burgundy/coral color easily.

      • V4Real says:

Shhhhhhhh Common sense and logic is speaking.

      • Kubba says:

And V4real is all over as usual mehn you need to slow down no wonder Kay said y’all act like high school peeps. There is no difference between you and Sal. You need to grow up!

      • FingerBinger says:

@ Maria I didn’t call her cancer survivor. Nor I did put her in the same group with cancer survivors. I said it’s inappropriate to talk about a woman’s body and her breast implants when she’s had a double mastectomy. The comparison to Kim K and Lady Gaga are ridiculous. Kim K has had elective surgery. It had nothing to do with saving her life. If either Kim K or Gaga had a mastectomy and people talked about their breast implants I would object to that too.

      • KatNotNice says:

        Nicely put.

      • chloe says:

        Maria well said.
As for this dress I like it, the pattern is not overwhelming and I think the white would look better on her, if her makeup wasn’t such a light tone, her makeup seemed to have more of a tan to it in yesterdays pictures. I also don’t like the dark lips.

      • Cecilia says:

@ Paige…How can you say everyone on here is grown & then turn right around & say, it just seems childish? Everyone should be able to have a voice on these threads. No one needs to be beat down & silenced. I like reading comments from differing points of view. The die-hards have a difficult time tolerating any point of view different than their own. These threads have become much more enjoyable & I, for one, am not scared to comment any more.

      • Paige says:

Cecilia I don’t enjoy these threads as much as I used to because now it’s just people telling everyone else what to do or say. Everyone has a right to comment, but from what I see it’s mostly people attacking others especially the rabid fans. They have a right to their opinion too even if most don’t agree with them. It is childish because it’s like it’s sort of like bullying. I don’t find the “balls” thing funny or cute if it’s used in a way to attack others and tell others what to do. Everyone is grown but some don’t act like it is what I mean. Some need to stop acting so self righteous.

      • lenje says:

@Paige, sorry but I think this “childishness” appears on both sides. What are you calling those who will easily accuse others of being “haters”, “FF-ers”, “liars”, merely for stating an opinion?

Oh, and my favorite: if you are saying something critical to one of the Jolie/Pitt, not only must you be a fan of the ex-wife, but you must be physically ugly, etc. LOL. In fairness, it was an extremely rabid fan, and thankfully most are not like that.

I also think “correcting misinformation” also shows smugness, since nobody here knows exactly what the truth is (Unless you can claim that you’re being with them 24/7). I agree, some need to stop self-righteousness, and that applies to all camps.

      • Paige says:

@V4Real Can you just explain to me how picking apart every overzealous fan is going to solve anything. They both are annoying and like I said I think it’s childish. It’s like some petty high school stuff. Let’s solve a problem with the overzealous fan by pointing out everything they post and tell them what to do. It’s just the same as people telling others not to be negative when they don’t agree with their opinion. Plus, to keep replying to every one of their posts in other to bug when you know they are going to respond seems pretty childish to me. You say everyone has a right to their opinion, but that doesn’t include “those” fans.

@LenjeYou can’t really have it both ways. I agree with your point. It needs to stop on both sides. The rabid fans and the people that come on here frequently to come down on those fans.

Ladies, I’m just pointing out what I see going on here.

  19. shellybean says:

This is the most style game she’s brought in a long, long time. Love it!

  20. Love Lockdown says:

She looks like a wax figure.

  21. Jen says:

The shoes are an interesting idea, but the design of them is just ugly.

    • lucy2 says:

That what I was thinking – it’s kind of cool something was designed for the movie promotion, but they look awkward and incredibly painful, I think. Like Barbie shoes.

      • Yeah, I don’t think I would wear them to anything but a costume party or some kind of fancy fashion thing (or red carpet)….but I do think that they look cool.

  22. GIRLFACE says:

I love the look! I think the powder is probably baby powder to absorb the moisture of the synthetic fabric or shoes and avoid chafing. I’m sure they do it before wearing tight gowns and spiky shoes for hours at a time, sometimes the whole night right? Or maybe it is photo/finishing powder. Seriously love those shoes.

  23. eliza says:

I love, love love the ENTIRE emsemble from head to toe.

This site is turning me into a mini Jolieloonie.

I would wear everything she has on. She looks fabulous.

  24. Emma - the JP Lover says:

    She looks so gorgeous! 🙂

I don’t think she’s wearing powder on her legs. I think she either had a talc powder accident (especially if one or more of the kids were in the Green room with her), or it’s what @Girlface said above … “baby powder used to absorb moisture of the synthetic fabric of the shoes and to avoid chafing.” You can see it on her left arm and right wrist. LOL!! Maybe Viv or Knox were eating powdered donuts and got a little ‘handsy.’ I remember the small fingerprints on her belly when she wore that exquisite emerald green gown at Cannes while she was 8-months pregnant with the twins. 🙂

    • KB says:

lol I’m sorry but your comment sounds like Jolie-Pitt fan fiction or something. You really think she’d walk a red carpet with powdered sugar all over her legs and feet? It’s that HD powder that several celebs have had issues with (Nicole Kidman comes to mind). It’s well blended on her face, but not in some places on her legs. The camera flash picks it up even though it’s not visible in person or on tv.

ETA: It’s probably showing up on her legs because they aren’t naturally oily like her face. She was probably just dusted with the stuff. Nowhere near the mishaps others have had.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

Actually, it’s just the lights hitting her shear stockings. I was having fun, trying to keep things light.

      • KB says:

Is she wearing stockings on her arms as well?

  25. The Original Mia says:

Love the dress and the shoes (omg, the shoe porn!). She looks good. Healthy. Can’t wait to see Maleficient.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@The Original Mia, who wrote: “Love the dress and the shoes (omg, the shoe porn!). She looks good. Healthy. Can’t wait to see Maleficient.”

Me either! The long trailer they showed before “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” was awesome. 🙂

      • The Original Mia says:

Definitely a different vibe/story from the original fairytale. I’m already siding with Maleficent.

      • I already think I’m going to enjoy it more than the orig. fairytale. I was never a huge Sleeping Beauty fan, simply because Aurora didn’t do ANYTHING. Like, I’m not someone who hates all Disney princesses because they’re all pretty women who wait for their prince to come and help them–that’s like the basis of 99% of all Disney movies. But Aurora didn’t do ANYTHING but look beautiful and dance around. BORING. Maleficent (especially as a dragon) was the best part. The only good part for me. If they’d made Maleficent a bigger part of the story, or given Aurora something to do other than bat her eyelashes, then I might’ve watched SP more than once or twice. Even BELLE did more than her.

  26. YuYa says:

I want that dress! The shoes are godawful though. She looks great here.

  27. DaSariH says:

I kinda like the shoulder pads. I am fortunate enough to have broad shoulders so for me it looks good! I like the dress but i like the black version of this shoes better. I know she don’t use face powder because her face is flawless but indoor photocall like this with harsh lighting can make you look rough and shiny.

  28. Maggie says:

I actually like the dress on her despite the overly large looking chest area. She appears uncomfortable to me. Still pretty though. I love the girl’s dress!!

  29. Maria says:

Can people here please stop talking about her breasts or how do they look?

    Thank You

Ps – A cancer surviver. Had double mastectomy 3 years ago.

    • Andrea1 says:

Thank you for adding your voice to this!

    • FingerBinger says:

      Kudos.

    • Hope you’re still feeling good to this day. Glad you beat it 🙂

      • t says:

People come here to b!tch about celebs. Happens all the other celebs. But you cant b!tch about this ange? Wtf!, the brangeloonies are bullsh!t

      • Did you post in the wrong spot?

      • Kim1 says:

I don’t have as much of a problem with the weight comment as I do the double standards.Angelina can be called a skeleton because she is thin but when I make a similar comment about a morbidly obese actress, the comment disappears. When I say an overweight talk show host is fat or a Grammy’s Award winning singer with a baby son who is obese needs to lose weight for health…
I decided not to use names today maybe this comment won’t be deleted like the others.
Fat shaming is just as painful as skinny shaming.Just because there is more fat discrimination is besides the point.

    • Kim1 says:

Congratulations on being a cancer survivor.Unfortunately alot of these posters don’t believe Angie had surgery to minimize her risk. They believe she just wanted a pair of “big fake boobs” or”bolt ons”
I would hope that if she was a cancer survivor there wouldn’t be comments about how awful her breasts look.

    • Maggie says:

Maria I can understand why you would be sensitive to the comments regarding her breasts. Unfortunately this is not the place to moderate those types of comments. It’s gonna happen over and over again.
I am sorry you had to experience cancer in any form. I hope you are well and wish you a long healthy cancer free life.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

      @Maria …

I’m sorry for your experience, but I am so happy you’re a survivor. 🙂

    • geekychick says:

Maria, I’m so glad you are ok, and I wish you a long, happy life.
IMHO, some people just have no class. I think the same people can’t see appropriation in donning Native American headdress. I’m sorry, I can’t think of a better example. I just don’t understand:would you tolerate this kind of insensitive comments in real life? no. then why would be ok to speculate about it here??
      i agree with you 100%.

  30. Lucy says:

    The dress. THE SHOES. Perfection.

  31. Ginger says:

I adore that dress. I want that dress! If you can come up with the designer please do update. I have a thing for Ravens. A lot of my decor consists of Ravens and birds. I would have one as a pet if I didn’t think it was a bit cruel. But luckily since I live in the Desert I have Ravens that fly over my house all the time. Angelina does have the shoulder pad thing going on but it seems to me that the late 80’s and early 90’s are coming back around again in fashion. Plus, you could put Angelina in a paper bag and she would still look gorgeous.

    • starr says:

Love it, too! The dress is Atelier Versace [see my comment below for more].

      • Ginger says:

Thanks for letting us know the designer. I’m sure I can’t afford it but I can dream!

    • starr says:

My pleasure! I can only dream of this dress, too. Love it.

  32. marnie says:

That dress is something I would expect to see on a little old lady lunching at a country club. The shoes are fine but I still swear by the no white shoes or pants before Memorial Day rule. Some people don’t care anymore but my mom would be spinning in her grave if I ever did it.

  33. Emma - the JP Lover says:

What I’m noticing is–in what appears to be the same height shoes–Elle and Angie are pretty much the same height. Elle is just shy of 5’8″ tall and IMDb lists Angie’s height at 5’7″ tall.

I wonder if Elle (whom I just adore) is still growing?

  34. Amy says:

Looks better than yesterday’s dress! Hate the red lipstick, the pink from yesterday looked a lot better.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

You know, I like it best when she just wears a bit of lip gloss as she has naturally pink lips. I agree about the dark red lipstick. I’ve only noticed it twice: when she wore that beautiful red gown in Russia for the “Salt” premiere and now. I think Angie is a woman who could go without makeup and still be stunning. 🙂

  35. KodochiiR says:

    Their shoe game is strong.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

      @KodochiiR …

Yep! I have a feeling they’re going to be bring the shoes all month. I’m loving this promotion tour and I’m glad Angie isn’t all weirded out by sharing the stage with a teenager. They really do seem to be at ease with each other and are visually ‘light/dark’ compliments, mirroring the film. I think it’s a smart PR strategy by Disney. 🙂

  36. Jade says:

Love the dress! But she looks tired. I know some people think her fans here are well crazy, but some of us aren’t irrational. I don’t have a hatred towards Jen and if Angie looks bad in a dress or her acting falls short, I’ll still think it. I really love and admire her personality, her humanitarian efforts, beauty and the way she lives her life. Superficially, from a fashion pov, when she brings it, she kills it! So yeah, I’m a fan but please don’t assume all us have blind admiration for her and will attack you for no rhyme or reason or thinks your opinion sucks. I’ve seen pro-Angelina responses that are justified and some that are not.

Am so gonna catch this movie. Angie, please do one last action flick before you retire… nobody can play badass like you as yet.

  37. Kate says:

    YES TO ALL. Love her.

  38. Jessiebes says:

Right. So I was always kind of pro Jen because of the whole possible cheating thing and disliked Angelina because of it. But I see now that that has gone old and stale.

I’ve grown to love and appreciate Angelina a lot. She does amazing work, is a fabulous mother and partner to Brad. Her involvement in humanitarian work can only be praised and admired. I love her knowledge and concerns about those poor Nigerian girls that got kidnapped, many many celebrities dont give a f***.

Btw I love her outfit and shoes and I can’t wait to watch the film.

  39. starr says:

She looks FANTASTIC. The dress is Atelier Versace and the shoes were custom made in several colours by Christian Louboutin, especially for this promo tour. Apparently she has them in red and gold, too.

The shoulder pads were part of Versace’s look on the runway this year. They weren’t the only designer to feature them. There’s a whole 80’s – 90’s revival happening with many collections. Personally, I love the look on her. This is way better than the usual free-flowing shapeless dresses and tops that she is prone to wear.

Daily Mail is stupidly reporting that she had ‘mysterious white powder’ on her legs. If they even zoomed in just a little bit, they’d see that those are sheer pantyhose with a slight shimmer that just don’t photograph well. Idiots.

    • lenje says:

Are you sure she’s wearing sheer pantyhose? It doesn’t look like so in the above picture of her shoe.

    • eliza says:

It’s actually HD poweder on her legs. Many actresses have had issues with it. If you look at her shoes you can tell she does not have hose on.

      • starr says:

I looked again and I think you’re right about the powder, though the pix in Daily Mail looked more like shimmery hose from afar. I have some Donna Karan hose with a slight shimmer that sadly shows up like that in photos, so I wasn’t 100% sure.

When are makeup artists going to look at red carpet pix and hit the learn button? This is the first time I’ve seen the HD powder fiasco on legs. Ugh!

    • eliza says:

@Starr- I know. Make-up artists need to be careful with that powder. It can really cause a mess. Poor Nicole Kidmanhas a face full of it.

I wear Donna Karan stockings too. They are very sheer and I love them. I am not a fan of bare legs except in the summer. I still wear hose though. I feel better with them on. Lol.

      • starr says:

Bare legs in the winter is a big pet peeve of mine. Drives me crazy to see bare legged women attending events when it’s a gazillion degrees below zero outside! 🙂

  40. serena says:

    I loathe their shoes! ugh

  41. gritsngreens says:

She looks fabulous! I love the way the dress fits her and I think she looks flawless. Yes, there are spots of powder, but they aren’t Lilo-esque around her nose area….If it was me, it would be covering up my poison ivy red marks! ergh!
I love, love, love her in a short dress with this print. Who cares about the shoulder pads. She looks fantastic. Period.

  42. Camille (The Original) says:

    Love it! Gorgeous and classic.

  43. Izzy says:

The Jolie’s fashion game lately is like the National Championship of fashion games. Bring it, gurl!

Re: her breasts – I’m wondering if she got them to mach the figure she would have under more normal, less stressful circumstances. She had a difficult choice to make, it had to be stressful; then she had a very difficult surgery, and from all media accounts, barely took time to recover before taking up her humanitarian work again. She lost a lot of weight and is skinny. I do think she’s a little too thin.

On the other hand, she has been dealing with a lot of stress, has half a basketball team of kids that she parents hands-on and admirably so, from the looks of things, and a very full career, personal life, and philanthropic life. Maybe she misses a few meals. Maybe she still doesn’t feel 100%? I don’t know how long it takes to recover from this kind of procedure. But I doubt it’s a walk in the park.

So pardon her if she doesn’t look EXACTLY the way she used to.

Also, I WANT THOSE SHOES. I don’t know if I could even walk in them. But I want them anyway.

  44. Jess says:

Love the dress and the shoes – so much I won’t even complain about the shoulder pads. I actually like Elle’s dress/outfit too. That’s the way to bare some midriff.

  45. Brooke says:

Apparently Elle is dressed by Ellery (Australian designer).

  46. Ravensdaughter says:

IMO, GF can wear whatever she wants. She may be tied down in more ways than I can even imagine, but she still has a free spirit in there somewhere. Maybe she just expresses it in a different way, i.e. she wears what she wants to wear and screw the fashionistas. I thought her Elle spread was perfect for her.
And yes, I also think that after her mastectomy, comfort has been more of a priority, thus the somewhat dowdy dress at the Oscars. She probably is self-conscious-wouldn’t you be, especially given that the whole world knows?. If the shoulder pads help a woman who has had reconstructive surgery of her breasts feel less awkward, then I think she should wear them.

  47. helzbelz says:

Shouldn’t it be “event against violence on women”? Just it sounds like jolie is supporting it otherwise …

  48. Leslie says:

I like that dress on Angie. She looks better/healthier here than she has in a long time.

  49. Delighted says:

Its really disgusting the way her body is so casually discussed here as through we KNOW what and why. We KNOW she is wearing a wig. We KNOW her breasts are now bigger and higher. No wonder she is getting out of acting and out of the public eye. Women are vicious toward other women.

    • WTFava says:

Yes and it’s so obviously bullshite too. How in fack is she wearing a ‘wig’ when it’s the same hairline she’s always had?

For these so called experts who claim ‘blah blah I’ve worn a lace front and I can tell..’ oh sit down – you’re one more jealous viper lying thru your teeth.

A lace front would have to go OVER her natural hairline and obscure it, that would give her the appearance of a lowered hairline..or in people who’s foreheads are not that large they appear as though they have hairlines that start right above their eyebrows when they wear them..see every pic of Nicki minaj’s ever when she wears them.

For lacefronts to look good you have to almost shave your hairline like a drag queen. Or have a beat up hairline that’s so worn down and sparse, that you can pull it back far enough so that it looks natural.

Jolie has the same broad forehead and same natural beautiful hairline she always has…you can see it matches the pic of her the next night with brad when her hair is in a french twist and matches every other single pic of her ever where you can see her hairline.

Some women are such envious toxic vile beasts it makes me sick and ashamed to be one sometimes. They only seem to be getting worse the closer aniston gets to menopause.

I would like Ms. Jolie’s dress better if it were grey or black with white ravens. Darker colours just suit her complexion better.

I think she should keep the shoulderpads. It balances out her frame and kind of draws attention away from her thin, gangly arms.
