Dean McDermott revealed as a coke addict & dog beater by Mary Jo Eustace

Dean McDermott

Late last week, Dean McDermott was papped several times on the same day. He pumped gas, ate lunch, bought groceries, paid attention to his son, and did a Reservoir Dogs-style slo-mo walk for the paps. And they clicked away! I don’t get it, it’s like Hilary Duff is his spirit animal. Tori Spelling seems more papworthy than Dean … even though they’ve both got photo agencies on speed dial.

There’s a bunch of new Spelling-McDermott gossip. First up is a long-lost court document (from Radar) that was filed by Dean’s first wife, Mary Jo Eustace, in 2005. Radar frames the doc as being highly damaging to Tori’s rep, but this is all about Dean and his alleged drug addictions and cruelty against animals. This was part of Mary Jo’s divorce case against Dean. I have to wonder about the source and why Radar received this doc now. It must be from camp Tori:

According to court documents exclusively obtained by Radar, McDermott’s first wife, Mary Jo Eustace, previously accused him of cocaine use, out-of-control spending, anger issues and even brutally beating his own dog!

McDermott infamously dumped Eustace after meeting Spelling during a television movie shoot in 2005 and immediately beginning an affair — despite the fact that both were married at the time.

Both couples eventually divorced, and in a sworn declaration filed by Eustace after the split, she rips the lid off of her life with McDermott long before Spelling was on the scene. According to Eustace’s sworn 2005 declaration, she said, “In March 1999, I went to my parents for a family gathering with Jack [her son with McDermott, who was an infant at the time.]”

She claimed McDermott “missed the gathering because he didn’t feel well. During the course of the event, Dean McDermott walked into the living room, threw a bag of cocaine on the table and said, ‘I have a cocaine problem .'”

“I called a friend who had a cocaine addiction, who helped Dean McDermott get into a support group,” she continued. “Dean McDermott committed to the support group and controlling his addiction to cocaine … for a while.”

After returning to their Canadian home after a trip in April 1999 with Jack, Eustace revealed, “When I returned home from the airport, all of the doors and windows were open. My immediate thought was that there had been some type of party at the house and Dean McDermott was attempting to air out the house. Dean McDermott told me he had started using cocaine again and that he had a party at the house while I was away … At the time, Dean McDermott told me he was attending ALANON through the spring of 1999 and that he had stopped using cocaine during that time.”

Among the other shocking revelations in Mary Jo’s declaration, she said, “During our marriage, I have been required to control our finances as a result of Dean McDermott’s serious impulsive spending issues and lack of responsibility in connection with payment of taxes and other financial commitments.”

Regarding McDermott’s parental skills she claimed, “There are many examples of Dean McDermott’s lack of patience in parenting Jack which I will set forth in further detail at a later time.”

Like Spelling has done on her show, Eustace admitted to ignoring “the red flags” in her relationship with McDermott. At the “end of our first date,” she said in the documents, “I noted [his] awful temper. We had a lunch date, and afterwards went to his house in Toronto to feed his dog. The dog had gotten into the garbage. Dean McDermott repeatedly and violently beat the dog with his fists and with a rolled up magazine. Dean McDermott was furious and it was very intimidating incident for me to witness.”

[From Radar Online]

Ugh. Not only is Dean an alleged coke addict and adulterer, but now we’re hearing details about how he beat his dog. This guy has absolutely no redeeming qualities, does he? I can’t think of a single one, and I don’t know why both Mary Jo and Tori married him despite the noted “red flags.”

Let’s finish with some bullet points:

* Hollywood Reporter says True Tori is an innovative reality show. They’re not reviewing the program. They’re only saying that it’s a quick turnaround for Lifetime. Episodes are filmed less than three weeks before they air.

* Dean begged Tori not to film their anniversary last week, but she told him to stuff it. Dean was “disappointed” with Tori’s attitude.

* Dean took a flight out of LA on Saturday. At the airport, he and Tori made out for the cameras and ended with “a tender kiss” in front of their four children. Gross.

* The most recent episode of True Tori features Dean justifying his adultery. He claims that Tori wouldn’t sleep with him the night before he left for Canada (last December). He was so sad and felt so fat (250 pounds, he says) and so “hurt” by rejection. Tori screamed, “We didn’t have sex, so that is why you went and f—ed some woman?! Two weekends in a row we did things that I had never done before because you wanted it, you kept wanting to raise the bar.” OMG, brain bleach.

Here’s a pic of Mary Jo in 2010. What did she see in Dean?

    Nasty, just plain nasty.

  2. smee says:

I’m getting a Kartrashian feeling here – I don’t even want to know this creature is alive, yet here I am, commenting on it~

Right up there with beating a kid, imo

  3. ray says:

if tori is gonna be married to this asshole then she may as well make money off of it. what an absolute afjdgnkfls\dhkj argh i have no words

  4. Trillian says:

Ugh. No kid wants to hear their parents fight or talk about sex. These two are airing it out to the whole country. School will be hell for them 🙁

    • Lola says:

I agree. Plus, its most, if not all on the interwebz … these things don’t get easily erased. Kids now a days know about computers from the womb … once they start searching their parents names this is what they are going to read. Who knows maybe his son with his first wife already visits the interwebz. Plain sad. Think about the kids, not just yourself.

      • kri says:

Ah, Dean. So winsome, so manly!! Any girl would be lucky to have him! And Tori- truly a discerning woman! The future is bright for these two. And I’m sure the kids will be just fine! Two more fools darken my day.
Anyone who abuses children, the elderly or animals can go straight to hell as far as I’m concerned.

  5. Froggy says:

Eww. Who the hell would go out again with a guy that you watched beat his dog?? Doesn’t say much for her either. Dean, his ex & Tori are all disgusting.

    • TG says:

Agree 100%. I would have called the police on him for beating his dog. Also I would have taken the dog with me. You hurt animals or kids and you have zero redeeming qualities in my book. He is officially on my evil people I will not support list. I have only ever seen their show a few times and he seemed like a nice guy and even knowing that he abandoned his wife, son and the child they were in the process of adopting I always just thought that he and Tori seemed happy but now I understand why everyone hates him. What a loser . Tori must have MAJOR self-esteem issues to have even picked this douche. If only this douche would act on his suicide threats.

    • doofus says:

yeah, that would be it for me, too.

and when I got home I’d be on the phone with the local animal rights organization.

    • MonicaQ says:

I felt she kept her composure after the divorce but it turns out she’s just as much of an enabler as Tori is.

      • Bridget says:

It’s easy to forget that addicts are master manipulators – it sounds like Dean kept the extent of his coke addiction hidden, and then made them think he was getting help. Court documents can be pretty bare bones, and we don’t know the surrounding details after these incidents. It could be that MJ wanted nothing to do with Dean but that he turned on the charm offensive (suspending disbelief here on that count) and got another chance. For all we know about Tori and Dean’s sordid story we actually know very little about Dean and Mary Jo, and I don’t know that I would call her an enabler for thinking she was getting her addict husband help.

      • mayamae says:

The wronged woman tends to fall off the pedestal the media place her on. Note also Brandi and Liberty.

      • Mrs Odie says:

MJ was young, and probably had some family background that attracted her to this kind of man. Plus, I completely believe that the Deaner knows how to turn on the charm and/or how to zero in on his partner’s insecurities and make everything her fault.

    • Mrs. Lecter says:

1000%, that is some sick behavior, I don’t care what he was on or what his issues are… you NEVER hit a defenseless being, be it an animal, a child, etc

    • weegie warrior says:

Absolutely correct – I woudnt go near anyone again who did that – and he shoudve been prosecuted for it.

    • Kelliekat says:

Yes. She goes way down in my estimation after standing by and watching her date beat an animal, and then going on to marry and have kids with him. Frankly she sounds as dumb as Tori.

    • Ange says:

WORD. I remember one of my cousins was dating a guy and she brought him to a family BBQ one day. The guy had this beautiful long haired GSD and he brought her along because my whole family is animal mad. The dog was playing with my aunt’s dog and then this dude decided to get all macho and started trying to run the dog through her obedience commands to show off (nobody asked him to mind you). The dog was distracted because of the playing and ignored his command so this hero decided to hit the dog across the head! That guy was frogmarched off the premises and never seen again. I was only young so I don’t know what happened to the dog, sadly I don’t think there’s much we could have done for her.

  6. Rhiley says:

The first incident of cruelty to an animal, especially a dog, I would be out of there. That is a HUGE red flag. Anyone who beats their dog has zero self esteem and real control issues.

    • GreenEyes says:

^^^^this exactly!! I would have walked out & turned him in for animal abuse as I was walking out the door! Anyone that can beat another living creature like that… Just no!! Bet he was on coke then also. I don’t get how these two women justify his bad behavior and enable him. The red flags were even before “they fell in love”. But even then.. You beat a animal, child, me , etc.. I’m out the door so fast. I took it as a child. First time a boyfriend did.. I was gone. I am so glad I’m not watching that show.. Sure enough just tmi. Really don’t need to know about their intimate life.. The rest is disturbing enough. Tori must really need $$$, I just can’t understand why people do these reality shows then lay out the most intimate parts of their life as if they were discussing the weather …

    • Beezers says:

I would never have gone on a second ate with a man who beat his dog, especially if it was at the end of our first date, when he’s supposedly trying to impress me!

  7. Cleveland Girl says:

This whole story makes me sick!! Donna Martin would NEVER have dated this guy!!!

    • Kaylen says:

Donna actually dated some really bad guys… One was abusive, I don’t remember his name… And David had a serious drug problem at one point. And also a hip-hop career.

      • Cleveland Girl says:

Haha!! You’re right! And Donna was actually addicted to pain killers for awhile also! But she would Never have dated a guy who abused animals! 🙂

      • jasmine says:

yeah that guy was ray pruitt, he was the musician and he physically abused her a few times and had a violent streak…and that last outfit with the roses just screams donna martin…that’s the first thing i thought of when i saw this…must be on her way to the peach pit to meet the gang!

    • doofus says:

yeah, Tori isn’t acting like Donna, but she sure had no problem raiding Donna Martin’s wardrobe.

      • Grumpycat says:

wow, spot on. That is such a 90’s outfit. I actually had pretty much the exact outfit in 1989. I was 11 though…
        BAD TORI. BAD.

  8. sullivan says:

Didn’t Eustace adopt a baby with Dean right before he started cheating? It seems troubling that she would do this knowing what a mess Dean was throughout their relationship. Also, who continues to see a guy after witnessing him abuse his dog?

    • Tracy says:

I think she ended up adopting the child on her own after they split.

      • Bridget says:

Dean cheated and left her mid-adoption, and she was able to finish it out as a single person (which was really lucky, because that’s not always a possibility).

      • Mrs Odie says:

His leaving her jeopardized the adoption, which is heartbreaking because she’d already bonded with the infant girl. Dean leaving MJ to go have what he thought was going to be 3x a day f***fest with Tori $pelling for all of eternity (because that happens) almost cost MJ her new baby as well as everything else. I think the Deaner did MJ a big favor, frankly. She has to have some major codependency issues, though, to keep dating him after that incident, then stay married for 13 years. Inertia is a helluva drug.

    • janeFR says:

I was wondering about that too. Wouldn’t his violenece and drug use be a big big red flag for any adoption too ? I do not not how it works there, but in France, prospective adoptive parents are screened, tested, ealuated, etc… An addict would not pass. Or did she lied about it to the social services ?

      • Emily C. says:

They would be red flags for anyone else, but there are different rules for the wealthy than for the rest of us.

  9. lucy2 says:

I’ve always seen Eustace as a victim in all this, but honestly, someone is rude to a waiter on a first date and I’d probably be done. Someone BEATS THEIR DOG? I’d be outta there so fast and reporting him. And she instead chose to marry and have children with him???

    • doofus says:

“but honestly, someone is rude to a waiter on a first date and I’d probably be done.”

agree completely. if that’s how you treat a stranger who’s just trying to do their job and SERVE you, then it says a lot about you as a person. yeah, they’re “just doing their job”, but they ARE people and deserve the simple respect of a “please” and “thank you”.

    • Bridget says:

I just have to point out, we don’t know if she just glossed right over the incident or if she declined to go out with him again and he put on a hard sell. We have no idea what went on between him beating his dog and when they went out again. Obviously for most of us, we would get the hell out of there and never look back, but abusers (and addicts) are notoriously manipulative and tend to choose vulnerable women.

  10. Immy says:

    He is beyond gross.

  11. Christin says:

Same here regarding being out the door after that first date. It is completely baffling me as to what these women see in him.

  12. MonicaQ says:

I wonder what happened to Tori’s now ex-husband in the middle of all this?

  13. Ag says:

good lord. this is terrible. who the f beats a dog?

  14. shellybean says:

So let me get this straight. After their very first date, Mary Jo witnessed him beating his dog and was “so intimidated”. Yet she still dated him and then married him. She sounds like a real winner herself.

If I ever saw a man do that, I would probably beat HIM. No way in hell would I consider him suitable husband material.

  15. pnichols says:

Not to make light of suicide in any way but if he said to me I want to end my life, (which he will NEVER do because he’s just saying it for pity and attention) I’d hand his ass the gun. Buh bye. Loser.

  16. Onyx XV says:

So, in conclusion, there is nothing redeeming about this guy whatsoever.

I do hope “Chopped Canada” comes to their senses and drops him like a hot potato. I enjoy the show, but having him as a host is disrespectful to all the participants. It also reflects poorly on the judges and generally brings down the caliber of the show.

As for Tori Spelling, she got exactly what she signed up for. For the sake of her children and her happiness, most likely it would be best if she moved on.

  17. Dani says:

I don’t know if I believe all of this. I saw Dean on that show on Food Network and he seemed likeable. Very chill, kind spirited. Maybe I’m wrong but I definitely think Tori is just spouting shit for attention. The ex? Interesting that she came out of nowhere.

    • Lorri says:

The ex didn’t just release this…Radar has to court docs that are from 2005…

    • Mrs Odie says:

I read Mary Jo’s book. She was fair to Dean. She could have done a Glanville style trash tale, but she didn’t. No one had more right that she did.

    • Emily C. says:

You cannot tell anything about a person by how charming they seem except that they’re good at seeming charming. Abusers and jerks in general do not come with flashing neon signs over their heads.

  18. qtpi says:

Why would Tori want to release this? Is she planning to go through this whole show and then dump him at the end? If you are going to stay with the guy I can’t imagine you would want to put the record out there that he BEATS animals. That report makes all three of them look bad – including the first wife.

  19. Dawn says:

Yuk. Anyone who beats a dog has no soul in my opinion. And if I witnessed that on my first date it would be the last date. What a jerk.

  20. Murphy says:

When it comes to the drugs–whatever. You’re an idiot and you’re hurting yourself.

But if you hurt an animal–OH HELL NO. You don’t deserve any respect at all.
Thats it–NOW he’s on my list.

  21. Mrs Odie says:

Maybe I’m just punchy because I’m home sick with my daughter, but after already laughing at Angelina Jolie’s make up fail (nothing against St. Ange, it’s just a funny pic, no harm done), I lost it in gales of mirth over the Deaner throwing a bag of cocaine on the table at a family party and announcing, “I have a cocaine problem.”

More like, “I have an attention problem. Not enough of it.”

  22. Maggie says:

    What a waste of flesh!

  23. Mrs. Lecter says:

Okay adulTORI, wrap this story up already. Enough of this MESS. They’re both such broken people. DUMP HIM ALREADY and do the single mom thing for publicity & cash because I know this whole thing is for a paycheck! Shameless.

  24. anne_000 says:

What kind of woman, who on a first date, watches the man beat his dog with his fists & a hard, rolled-up magazine, then goes on more dates with him?

Also, what kind of woman not only watches his violent behavior on his dog but goes on to marry him, have a baby with him, knows that he does drugs at their home, then adopts another baby with him?

Also, what kind of woman wants to ‘steal’ this type of man from the first woman?

All the adults in this case are all nuts.

  25. I Choose Me says:

    Why’d I read? Why’d I read?

That little anecdote about the dog beating is making me want to smash something. I could NEVER be with someone who abuses their furry companion. I don’t care how good looking he is, how good the sex is or how much in love I was with him prior to that incident. That is an instant deal breaker.

Ugh. I need a chocolate break.

  26. Size Does Matter says:

A few things. First, while I have no doubt that Dean is a douchebag, lets remember that this is from a divorce court document. She was trying to paint him in as bad a light as possible for leverage. Second, good lord what is Tori wearing? Her daughter’s dress with her son’s Amish dress up hat, bicycle shorts, and her old high school jazz booties? Not too long ago wearing something like that would have been grounds for a psych evaluation. Third, anyone else notice how much weight Dean has put on since they got married? He must be off the coke now or he’d be thinner.

  27. Bread and Circuses says:

The impulsive spending and compulsive cheating seem to go together, don’t they? That’s the thing that struck me with Eddie Cibrian’s alleged behaviour, too — can’t say no. Not to women, not to toys. If it’s in front of him, he pounces — often without thinking.

Hitting the dog would have been an instant deal-breaker for me. Someone who harms a living creature that depends on him/her cannot be trusted with your heart or your well-being.

  28. joan says:

The moment I saw him hit the dog I’d have grabbed a chair and hit him from behind. And then left and called a gossip site. It would be nice to take the dog, too.

Animal cruelty gets ignored by cops but it’ll hurt his career.

  29. Jayna says:

Nobody cares, Tori. Keep on releasing scandalous and titilating stuff. It’s not working. Your viewers are dropping like flies. Go fix your marriage in private.

  30. Vilodemeanus says:

You look at Mary Eustace and then you look at Tori Spelling. Now you look at Tori’s potential inheritance and you see why Dean left his wife in the middle of adopting a child. He’s transparently a scumbag that no normal woman would want to be around their children. It will be truly hilarious when Candy leaves her nothing because of Dean and a trust fund for the kids they can’t touch until they are 35 or so. Dean will die of disappointment, and still be married to an idiot. Waiting for the cash that never arrives. Mary should consider herself lucky and you get the feeling she really does too!

  31. Apple says:

Dean and Tori can dance around their issues but the fact that he was lightness and charm and her dream man. Up until Aaron died and the money load wasn’t there. Just leaves me to believe he is/was a gold digger that thought he would never have to work another day in his life. Now he has to hustle for jobs and is now the person he hid for so long. An alcoholic, drug/sex addicted junkie that resents Tori for having to make him earn a living. It is all weird passive aggressive behavior. Just sad they dragged 4 little ones into their drama machine.

  32. the says:

I love Tori! But, Chopped Canada made a poor choice–Good luck with a female audience.

  33. Melanie says:

Dean is disgusting..I have always felt he only wanted Tori for her status….he is unattractive…an animal abuser, dirty filthy loser…she would be better off alone…with her babies…she nor any woman deserves this kind of life..with someone with nothing to offer! 😝
