James McAvoy, Fassy, Stewart & McKellen in London: who would you rather?

Here’s something shocking: out of the assembled X-Men in these photos, I think Ian McKellen is the tallest? That’s weird, right? Anyway, these are photos from last night’s London premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The NYC premiere was Saturday night. For the London premiere, none of the big-name women came out. No Jennifer Lawrence (she’s filming in Paris), no Ellen Page. It was a sausage party… with no Nicholas Hoult or Hugh Jackman. Only the primary Magento and Prof. X actors, young and old. So, enjoy.

Personally, I could look at photos of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen all day long. Maybe it’s just PR or a brilliant media strategy, but I believe that Patrick and Ian are truly close friends who genuinely enjoy each other’s company. They spend so much time together, and they seem so supportive of one another. It’s lovely and sweet: older dude BFFs!!

As for the younger dude BFFs, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender also seem to get along very well. They’re not quite in Stewart-McKellen territory yet, but I also buy that they enjoy hanging out sometimes and they really enjoy working together. I think Michael is a man’s man, and James just gets along with everybody.

So, who would you rather? This is a tough call, isn’t it? Patrick Stewart might be the dark horse dong contender, right?

McAvoy, always. But that is a great picture of the 4 of them together, all quite handsome.

    • Kiddo says:

He looks good in all of the photos except that he comes across a bit pretentious with that exaggerated raised eyebrow in the first group shot.

      • lily says:

Sometimes when i look at McAvoy i dream of taking a plane to Scotland in search of my perfect Scotish guy. Then i look at Fassbender and have the same dream about Ireland. Now i’m torn…

      • Kiddo says:

McAvoy. Fassy has the more common classically considered handsomeness, where McAvoy doesn’t fit the mold.

    • BW says:

I always wondered why they picked McAvoy as a young Stewart, because I never thought they looked alike, until now. Now I see the resemblance.

    • K says:

McAvoy was quite the charmer on Graham Norton recently. Ran circles around Fassy, personality-wise.

    • Tatjana says:

      Yeah, McAvoy for me too.

they are all short, aren’t they?

  2. JC says:

I would start with Michael Fassbender. I need about a month non-stop with him.

McAvoy is the guy to date/marry.

But Fassbender as a lover for all time.

I bet McKellan would be an AWESOME grandfather.

    • kri says:

JAMES!! And Patrick Stewart!! YAY! This set of pics made me grin. James is amazing and I can’t wait to see “Filth”.

    • Tatjana says:

My grandmother looks ecaxtly like Ian McKellen. Very strange.

  3. LadyMTL says:

I’m normally not a huge McAvoy fangirl but man he does look good in these photos! So McAvoy it is, followed by Hugh Jackman (even though he’s not there he’s still gorgeous lol).

  4. antisocial says:

All of them. All at once, separately, whatever. But OhMyGod YES.

  5. PunkyMomma says:

Stewart. There’s something so attractive about him. Jean Luc. Sigh.

  6. Kali says:

Toss up between McAvoy and Stewart. McAvoy wins out as his facial expression in that first photo says he knows what I’m thinking and he’s not scared, he’s intrigued…

  7. Maria says:

    Fassy only.

  8. Sixer says:

Surian and Surpat are just the best ever at working it. Not suggesting they’re not friends – of course they are – but they know how to work it. I wish every celebrity could be like them and give us a win-win with their PR.

  9. Lucretia says:

I loved the photos from this premiere, in addition to fans commenting on the fact that Fassbender got completely soaked signing autographs in the rain. So, Fassy (of course); also love the other three.

  10. Rie526 says:

Let me step into my time machine to be with McKellen 45 yrs ago. As it stands today though, McAvoy all the way!

  11. Mindy says:

Patrick is in a purple suit. He WINS.

  12. ChrisM says:

    McAvoy FTW!!!!

  13. Lilacflowers says:

Patrick Stewart, McAvoy. Maybe Fassbender but probably not.

  14. Sarah says:

Fassy in that plaid 3 piece suit that fits him like a glove. O.M.G.

  15. mia girl says:

I’m about to go into day 2 of jury duty and am so grateful for these pictures to carry me through the day.

I will daydream all day of McAvoy. Sigh. I’m sooo into him. He’s killing me with how yummy he looks…
“He’s guilty your honor! of sweet, hot death by dong!”

    • j.eyre says:

I will mind the Mac while you are fulfilling your civic duty, worry not, mia girl.

I will take all four and wear Sir Ian’s coat while doing so.

    • mia girl says:

On a lunch break checking in and was so moved by your *sacrfice* @j.eyre.
You truly are a good friend (side-eye)

I will take him back now thank you (yes he belongs to me!). Carry on with the other three gents. You are in good hands.

  16. Dominque says:

    James, hands down.

  17. Farah says:

McAvoy’s expression in the first photo kills me. I love him!

  19. Abby_J says:

Can I choose to just be in one giant X-Men sandwich? We need to bring Hugh Jackman, as well, though.

  20. GeeMoney says:

    Fassy, always…

  21. Franny Days says:

McAvoy! He looks like he’d cuddle with me afterwards.

  22. lorgasm says:

Sir Patrick! I just wanna rub his bald little head (both of them)

  23. mkyarwood says:

First Patrick as that’s a romantic life long dream, then McAvoy while Sir Ian watched and read something dramatically, finished (prolly literally) by Fassbender. But where is Hugh? And I’d like JLaw and Ellen Page as well just to round it all out 😛

  24. Nymeria says:

I’ll take McAvoy & Fassbender. Our threesome will be much better than Don & Megan’s.

  25. Ash says:

Sometimes, I find McAvoy extremely attractive, and then other times, I’m not even remotely attracted to him.

  26. Mrs. Lecter says:

McAvoy, hands down (the pants), all day, every day, forever and ever, amen.

When I was attending college in Savannah, James came in to town to film The Conspirator. They blocked off the squares between the buildings and took out the parking meters, etc. It looked great. I always passed by on my way back from class, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Never did. Well, a few days later when I was out driving by the edge of town, I saw him come out of a building the production must have rented for the cast (maybe to eat/have downtime, I’m not sure) and I saw him walk out in his officer’s uniform and randomly do some karate punches and laughing. Very cute. I adore this man.

  27. Lucy says:

Sigh, I know the film looks good, but I just can’t give money to Brian Singer, considering all he’s been accused of. It just makes me feel too sick.

  28. LadyS says:

I only want Fassbender. Forever and always Fassy!!

  29. janeFR says:

hard question. But since I’m a lady, not slutty at all, I would keep it for my pretties, and being the nice personn I (almost) always am, will leave you your MacAvoy.
