Amal Alamuddin in business casual, with a blowout in London: much better?

FFN_Alamuddin_Amal_FFUK_051414_51410884

Amal Alamuddin got pap’d again! Huzzah. I’m happy about it, mostly because her style has greatly improved in these photos. Amal was photographed coming out of the John Freida Salon in London, having just gotten a blowout and a manicure. I wouldn’t swear to it, but I think she got her roots done too – her hair looks darker, shinier, like she just got it dyed. She has great hair! I’m glad about the manicure too – in yesterday’s photos, her mani looked awful.

Can we also say that Amal’s clothes are much better here? They are. That blouse is confusing, but I sort of like it, and her pants and shoes are a vast improvement. I even like the purse! I feel like this is going to be her strength – modern business-wear, business-casual even. Her weakness is casual, mostly because of shoes, jeans and socks. I’m also including a photo of the “engagement gifts” arriving at Amal’s home – someone sent her flowers, a balloon and some other stuff (??).

Page Six reports today that George Clooney is about to meet up with Amal in London so that they can look for a new home together. Apparently, George doesn’t want her to give up her career, and he’s making an effort to do the “live half the time in London” thing. A source told Page Six: “Amal wants to continue her work, and George is very supportive and proud of her career. He will soon be going to London so they can look for a new home there together.”

Meanwhile, the National Enquirer claims this week that George Clooney cheated on Stacy Keibler WITH Amal, that “George met Amal when he and Stacy were still very much together, and he broke Stacy’s heart… He says his romance with Amal didn’t begin until after he and Stacy split up, but Stacy still considers it a terrible betrayal.” Gossip Cop says that’s BS though, and I agree. I personally think that A) Stacy was fooling around on Clooney before they were officially over and that B) Stacy dumped Clooney, or that the breakup happened on her schedule rather than his. Anyway… Amal is not some Jolie-esque homewrecker. OR IS SHE?! LOL.

i mean, she looks great, but this outfit is so blah/jcrew/meh.

    • QQ says:

She does but i prefer the kicky steeze of the wackadoo pants and the pops of color and the Im-not-catering-to-your-barbie-foot-wishes shoes

      • nofkksgiven says:

i think her style is unique for hollywood – not perfect some stuff looks mall-ish but she looks comfortable in everything she puts on and I like that she isn’t cookie-cutter

      • Sabrine says:

Can this woman not be left alone? So she’s dating George Clooney……..big deal…..she’s not one of the royal family and the vicious comments against her are astounding. She lives and works in London and her daily wardrobe choices do not need to be picked apart piece by piece, analyzed and criticized by what appears to be a slathering, drooling, voracious public. Clothing is probably not her main priority in life. Good Lord….get a life.

    • Anna says:

I love the outfit. She pulls it off bc of her coloring and strong features, esp hair – that’s how KMid looks great in a lot of outfits that would be total snooze-fest on other people. This hair on Amal is actually very Middletonian.

    • Katherine says:

Business casual? um no. Not for an attorney. That’s a ladies who lunch outfit.

Of course George doesn’t want her to quit her day job. Isn’t that the selling point? He is marrying a LAWYER. Excuse me, a HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYER. I still haven’t figured out if she’s pro or con. 😉

      • kri says:

@ Katherine..oh, honey I get “con” from this whole situation. Meh.

      • Aye says:

I don’t know anything about Amal Alamuddin, but human rights lawyers undoubtedly do important work, but many of them confuse the purpose with their own ego. There’s just something a little chuckle-chuckle about practicing humanitarian and human rights law. Her job shouldn’t be a point of interest on celeb gossip sites but with George such an eager humanitarian you can’t help but a bit cynical about it all. It’s like he wants to enforce his brand name and become just like Brad and Angie, who KNOW they’re so much better than the other HW celebs because they rescue orphans and do “important” humanitarian stuff (see Angie’s comments on Megan Fox: “Is she aiding in Africa or sitting in on U.N. conferences? Donating herself to something bigger than Hollywood? I’m not familiar with her work, is she an Oscar contender?”). Good on them as far as the impact of the work on the needy is concerned, but if you believe none of it, even just a little 5 per cent, is motivated by the drama and image-making, you’re too naive! Please, they hang out with Bono! That should tell you everything about self-absorbed celebrity do-gooders. The point is that they’re all enjoying the fact of getting a name-pimping out of it.

    • littlestar says:

Yeah, this outfit is kind of dated looking/too old for her. It’s not bad, but it’s not very fashionable either.

LOVE her hair though, it’s beautiful! I think she’s a very striking looking woman.

  2. Kiddo says:

“that blouse is confusing” gave me fits of laughter. Because I looked twice, and it IS so much WTH-ness. It’s starched and straight up at the collar, yet bunched at the waist. It wants to turn into a cape or jacket, but can’t quite transform, maybe because the shoulder pads are battling it for domination.

As an all over look, though, it is clean and put together.

  3. Al says:

I think everyone gives Clooney too much credit. I think he was in love with Keibler, she fooled around on and used him. She left HIM and became immediately pregnant then he got engaged. ENGAGED! I think she broke his heart and this whole thing is spurred on by the end of their relationship.

    • Sarah says:

Really? They hardly saw each other at the end I never thought they had much chemistry anyway. I think they were over long before they officially broke up. Stacey is a pragmatist she got what she could out of the clooney association and quickly found herself another millionaire. She knows that in a couple of years time no one will care about her like all the other clooney ex girlfriends. I don’t think either of them are too upset. Clooney found a suitable girlfriend he can impress with and who will probably hold his attention a bit longer than the rest and Stacey got her baby and comfortable lifestyle. Win win for both.

      • starrywonder says:

Yeah there were rumors on Lainey and elsewhere that Stacy was seeing George Eads for a bit behind Clooney’s back. Don’t know what happened with that but she and Clooney broke up officially.

    • HappyMom says:

He was cheating on her with Eva Longoria-so, no.

      • kcarp says:

I heard that too. Isn’t funny how we talk about these people like we know them. NO NO honey he was doing a friends with benefits with Eva, behind Stacy’s back.

      • kcarp says:

Great she is going to keep her job. It is thursday in London right? How does she have all this time off? I know that other countries have a lot more vaca time than us but this seems like a lot.

I work from home and its a flexible schedule but this is more than a flexible schedule.

    • Kaylen says:

      I agree, @Al.

And this Amal woman cannot dress herself for sh*t. All the brains in the world (supposedly) yet…

    • Suzanneg444 says:

Nay Nay….Keibler didn’t have that much influence on Clooney….He didn’t invest that much in his women…and only seems to be doing so now…because he’s been made to look like a buffoon…dating much younger women with no titles behind their names…aside from WWF!

  4. poppy says:

her hair is great. and the sunglasses.
    the bag is huge.

    • T.C. says:

She looks great. I sense some Clooney influence after her last pap pictures. Remember how he did that with Stacy when she showed up looking not that great on camera. Instant fashion makeover.

  5. capepopsie says:

She looks great. Like the pink Nails 🙂

  6. LadyJane says:

Really? Do we need to critique her fashion choices like she is Stacey Keibler or that Kate Middy. She is an Oxford graduate who has an incredibly impressive career as a human rights attorney at the highest international level. I know it is probably inevitable that we critique her blowout or manicure, but for once – can we just admit that the fashion is the least interesting thing about this very interesting woman.

    • aims says:

      Amen. Thank you!

    • JudyK says:

Exactly. Besides, I would hardly call her outfit J Crew…she looks sophisticated and understated. She is stunning.

    • vic says:

She is now engaged to one of the biggest attention seeking celebs in the world who puts it all on show. She opened up her love life, engagement party and everything else to the world so why not? She put herself in the spot light and it looks like she loves it.

    • Kiddo says:

I don’t think the point of examining her fashion choices diminishes or dismisses her intelligence, abilities or accomplishments. She recognizes that she is mega-high profile now and that it is a different ballgame once you become engaged to huge celebrity. She’s not being interviewed for her thoughts, so there isn’t any weighty substance to comment on.

No doubt this is a VAST improvement over the bowed Hello Kitty look.

      • MissBB says:

Agreed, also with Vic. Just because she has a career doesn’t mean we can’t look at and comment on her clothes etc. Isn’t that one of the main reasons we come here?

      • Esmom says:

Agree on all your points, well said.

    • minime says:

Well, if they would have want it, they could have maintained all of this engagement story under wraps instead of turning it in this huge PR show (at least for some considerable time). I risk to say that she likes the spotlight as much as he and his previous girlfriends liked it. She surely doesn’t mind we talk about her clothes. Isn’t that the reason why they called the paparazzi?

    • nofkksgiven says:

Why does it have to be all or nothing? So if a woman is smart – her fashion sense shouldn’t be commented on?

      • Belle says:

Apparently we can only gossip about silly, uneducated bimbos. Go figure.

        Yaaay for feminism!

    • Dani says:

Just because she’s an intelligent woman who graduated from a top uni and has a successful job doesn’t mean we can’t say she has a bad fashion sense. She’s still a person regardless of her ‘ranking’ and on top of that she’s engaged to Clooney….so

    • Hmmm says:

If she is such a highly educated woman, why is she lowering her status with being Clooney’s 5th, 6th, 7th arm piece? As far as I can see, she is making a fool of herself.

    • Katherine says:

LOL! You are easily impressed. I give her props for getting a good education and being a working gal but you are infusing too much into her career at this point. So it seems is George. So far it’s been the subject of much puffery due more so to her seemingly good networking skills and ability to attach herself to high profile work. If she diligently and seriously keeps at it for the next decade or more we may see her become what her PR already claims her to be. But she’s no where near that now. Connecting with Clooney will help her career immeasurably. I expect to see her start her own law firm and because of Clooney be able to attract talent and expertise and great clients.

I’m interested in how she fared in her 3 years at Sullivan and Cromwell. I just learned that it seems she was a “student” law clerk to Judge Sotomayor rather than a regular law clerk. Much less impressive than advertised. We’d rightfully call that an intern but in true puffery style it becomes the bigger deal of Law Clerk. So it seems she went to big firm after graduation not law clerk. Huge difference in salary but depending on what she did and learned at big law that may have been a good foundation. Low level associates rarely get much of importance to do if anything. She could have started with a human rights organization if that was her interest at the time but they pay bupkis and certain lifestyles demand $$$$$.

      • Jadzia says:

Yeah, in the world of BigLaw and other similarly high echelons, an externship doesn’t mean a thing. Basically, externships are done by people who will never be good enough to get real clerkships, and 9 times out of 10 (at least on the resumes I saw back in my BigLaw days), the former extern tries to spin it to make the prospective employer believe that he/she was a real clerk. It’s just not the same thing at all.

      • Liberty says:

Exactly. But people will keep accepting the spin.

    • lincoln park after dark says:

@LadyJane As long as Clooney’s handlers keep rolling her out, on a daily basis, as if the whole thing is staged , then people are going to make comments, especially on celebitchy. To me, same routine, but this time this girl has a ring. It is interesting that since she got back to London, that there are always paps around her. They know exactly where she is going to be. As for her going to Oxford, really not impressed. I went to an ivy league university and many of the students that were there, because a parent or parents were alumni or parents gave a lot of money to the school. As for her accomplishments, I know plenty of lawyers doing great things and are not getting recognized for it. As for buying a house, he probably is planning to make a few films in England and Europe. He has the money

    • RR says:

AGREED! My goodness, it is not like she is Kim Kardashian! However, I find it really refreshing to see her getting play on this site– she is certainly interesting, and obviously very talented and intelligent. Its a nice message for women, isn’t it? An educated, intelligent woman with a strong career marrying the prince for once? AND not having to give up her career (ie he will live in London part-time with her?).

Not something you often see in the press. I like it.

    • Amulla says:

Being an attorney doesn’t automatically make someone fascinating in my book. And actually, a career is only one aspect of a person, it doesn’t make the whole person.

      • Jayna says:

Bingo. I work with attorneys year in and year out and this couldn’t be more true.

    • Sandy says:

For once she looks like a professional woman. And I say that as a compliment. What is wrong with that? She looks great in the cut of the pants, the color of the blouse, her hair looks fantastic. She is not Stacey Keibler. All that said, I do think this might have been staged, obviously by George’s people, because she got so much criticism on her fashion choices lately.

    • floretta50 says:

Interesting woman? You hardly know her, this is not the dark ages when women were mostly teachers , nurses or housewives this is 2014 there are millions of women lawyers and many who went to ivy League schools so what is so special about, Amal. in my opinion Clooney kept on throwing back fish after fish, until he catch and kept the ugliest one. Amal looks like Pinochio, her nose is huge. People give George Clooney too much credit he is an old man who dates women years younger than himself, one of them ran off and quickly married a man years younger than he is, tell me what older man pride wouldn’t get hurt.

      • RR says:

I think its very interesting as well the way you dismiss her for not being ‘interesting’ because she has a successful career, but then trash her appearance in the most shallow way possible. Like I said, she is no Kim Kardashian who is famous for her physical appearance.

      • zinjojo says:

        MEEEOOW!

      • Amulla says:

I never said anything was special about it. There are millions of lawyers worldwide so its not some unusual career choice.

I do think George Clooney is past his prime.

      • GByeGirl says:

Her nose is “huge”? WTF? I happen to like her nose. I’m sick of seeing these Hollywood hack-off fake button noses, personally.

      • whoozy says:

        RR..but that’s how gc got famous…

  7. Aura says:

I thought yesterday’s outfit was way more stylish

  8. Delta Juliet says:

I’m not a fan of that color manicure but her lip color is gorgeous! I want it!!!!

  9. PHD Gossip says:

    Love the bag!

  10. blue marie says:

I like it, well minus the nails which are a bit too cotton candy for me.
I can’t wear pants that color, I spill something on myself almost every time.

    • Kiddo says:

Hi, my name is Kiddo, and I’m a spiller, too.

    • Happyhat says:

      Hello Kiddo.

We welcome you to the spillers club. First rule of spillers club – no white.

      • Jag says:

        Hi, I’m Jag and I’m a spiller.

I wear so much black – to hide spills – that I should be a shadow!

      • Snazzy says:

Me too! Only dark colours 🙂

      • minime says:

Spiller here. Dark and patterns..lots of patterns. Patterns are great for spillers, I kid you not. Sometimes I dare to use cream, but then I know I need to stay away from chocolate and coffee for the rest of the day.

      • Reece says:

Hi, my name is Reece. I’m a spiller. Um, I’m also a crumber and a dropper. I always seem to eat light colored sauces when I’m in all black and well, you know.

    • Aqua says:

I’m not a spiller but I’m a sloppy messy cook does that count?

    • Cricket says:

Add me to the spiller list too. Never fails…when I read no white, for a second I was confused and thought wine, red wine is like a magnet to anything I’m wearing 🙂

  11. Sarah says:

To be fair she was coming of a long haul flight in the other photos. I think it’s perfectly acceptable to dress for comfort on flights.
This is a good look for her but I expect this is her business look for London doubt she will be dressing like this with clooney in sunny California.

  12. Diana says:

    What gorgeous hair!!!

  13. Hmmm says:

Will she do photo ops every day now? Please NO, they are even more annoying than Gosling/Mendes.

    GO AWAY!!!

    • AG-UK says:

      +10000

    • lola says:

You’re seeing her cuz you’re visiting gossip sites, so we’re coming to her not the other way around. She’s marrying the world’s most eligible bachelor so the pap frenzy ain’t going away any time soon

      • Hmmm says:

I agree with you it being my problem seeing her staged (I am sure) pics everywhere and I could easily avoid them by not hitting up the gossip sites. But with most eligible bachelor I think you are taking it a bit too far. Clooney, hardly being in the news for his acting or his movies these days wouldn’t have a career if he didn’t rely on a new PR girlfriend every 3 years. I think only Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp are more laughable than Georgie these days.

      • YuYa says:

I would have to argue on the world’s most eligible bachelor thing. He’s kind of used up IMO.

  14. Lucy says:

I thought I was the only one who had noticed her lovely locks!

  15. lola says:

Meh I liked her airport garb better – this stuff looks like straight Chico s work attire.

  16. DogMom says:

Sooo…..are we supposed to be believe that the paps just happened to see her when she just happened to be walking out of the salon? Is John Frieda Salon in London like the The Grove in LA where the paps just lay in wait?

    She has pretty hair.

    • Sabrina says:

I’m pretty sure that the paps will be permanently following her around due to her engagement.

Also I’m sure that the salon has celeb clients so it’s possible that paps do hang out in that vicinity hoping to spot someone worth photographing.

    • Cricket says:

Maybe they were waiting for Pippa but got Amal instead?

  17. minime says:

“Anyway… Amal is not some Jolie-esque homewrecker. OR IS SHE?! LOL.”

ahahah and then you tell us to not feed the trolls 😉

I know some disagree but I do think she is gorgeous. I don’t fancy her casual style that much, but her business style is pretty interesting. I’m looking forward for the next chapters of this weird novel.

  18. LAK says:

    Those nails are so tacky!

  19. smee says:

This outfit looks more real on her than the ripped jeans and big shoes outfit. I’m curious where the previous outfit came from – it seemed very young and weird for her…….

    • YuYa says:

She was wearing a diamante skull t-shirt with a big assed pink bow on it for her ENGAGEMENT PARTY…pretty sure I know were it came from. It came from her closet full of bad fashion choices.

      • Katherine says:

        LOL! Nailed it!

      • Jayna says:

I agree about her bad fashion choice in the t-shirt and shorts, but it wasn’t an official engagement party. It was at a beachside cafe in the afternoon and had a karaoke machine set up. Everybody was very, very casual. Since they were newly engaged, it was celebrated, but from “Page Six:

“The insider said, “The party was a combined celebration for a number of people’s birthdays and Mother’s Day. It was George’s birthday, Rande’s birthday, Bono’s birthday and Bono’s daughter Jordan Hewson’s 25th birthday. The Edge sang the Oasis song ‘Wonderwall,’ then Bono and his daughter performed a duet of ‘Something Stupid.’ Even Cindy sang, but George and Amal — while having a great time — declined to sing.”
Clooney and human rights lawyer Alamuddin got engaged last month, and sources said the couple looked happy, while the British beauty showed off her enormous diamond engagement ring.”

    • Jayna says:

Not really. She’s been photographed in those funky pants with a design on them with her oxford type shoes. She’s been photographed at the casual get-together for Bono’s and George’s and a few others’ annual birthday celebration and also celebrated their engagement with those there in her quirky outfit. I think that is exactly her style in a casual setting.

  20. DanaG says:

Let’s face it she couldn’t look any worse then she has. I like the outfit she needs to stick to classy and simple. The George and Amal PR engagement show will move to London yippee. Clooney should have gotten engaged ages ago let’s see if he can really go through with it? Bet Amal picks the house after all when they split (and they will) she will get to keep it.

  21. Hissyfit says:

She looks pretty here and her outfit lovely.

Still obviously loving the attention she’s getting. Now stop with the, “she doesn’t need attention because she’s already famous in London because she’s a prominent lawyer” crusade because she’s not, otherwise we would’ve heard about her or seen her pre Clooney. She’s world wide famous now and loving it. So I guess goal met for her and George.

    • ninal says:

I don’t think she’s loving the attention so much as managing the attention with a degree of calculation. She seems mildly amused by the pap attention but not starstruck or thirsty. She smiles and acknowledges their presence basically. For her to act shy or uncomfortable would seem lame since she’s a high profile barrister who has done a lot of television media on top of it. She’s definitely polished.

  22. Tiffany says:

I just cannot imagine them having any type of sexual chemistry. With the other exes you believed at one point and time they had sex. These two, I just don’t but it. It is not the end all be all, but it has to count a little bit.

    • nofkksgiven says:

Amal strikes me as very sensual….why do you think they have no chemistry? There are very few pics of them even together….

    • Jayna says:

I never thought he had any sexual chemistry with Stacy. They looked boring together and he always looked distant from her like he didn’t even want to acknowledge their relationship on the red carpet. Elisabetta, yes, he was definnitely hot for her the first year.

  23. truthful says:

hair and nails looks great, that’s all I got..

    • Katherine says:

Gee I think her nails look tacky and I don’t mean not dried yet. Serious working attorneys don’t usually go that route. Maybe she’s still on “leave.”

Her hair looks great but I have a feeling she needs a daily blow out and that must be a drag – seriously who has the time?

  24. Aqua says:

Her style is beginning to grow on me I think because she has to be and dress serious for work she may like to have some fun with her wardrobe on her down time.Anyway I really like her she’s a strong confident woman who won’t put up with any B.S.,and I like that she’s not giving up her career.BTW it is being reported that they will be working together.

  25. Hershey says:

I am sick of her already

  26. Daffy says:

-New infos leaked to the press (by George’s PR Team) about the house and their future life in London….check
-Gifts in front of her mom’s house (to be seen by the paps)…..check
    -Improvement of her style/clothes (by George’s stylist)….check
-Her professional past rewritten (like always with all George’s gf)….check
-New photos op for her (no she didn’t call the paps and she doesn’t like the attention…pfff)….check

George is desperate for publicity. He reminds me of Kanye West/ Kim Kardashian. It’s pathetic.
Every day we have new info about this “relationship” and I’m fed up with the message “She’s the best barrister in London and she’s a human rights lawyer”. No, she isn’t. She’s a junior in her profession and she’s a criminal lawyer, nothing more. It’s great that she is educated and have a good job but please, don’t emphasize and lie about her accomplishments (there’s no need to do it).

    • ninal says:

George’s stylist? Have you seen how his previous girlfriends dressed? He definitely did not manage their wardrobe and its clear he’s not having a say in hers.

And as for her professional accomplishments- I don’t get padding it OR diminishing it either. She’s is partly high profile for being hot I think

  27. Cora says:

Amal has just been papped AGAIN. This time she’s in a purple/blue skirt and blouse (both very wrinkled) with a neon yellow shirt beneath. She’s mysteriously paired her outfit with a large tan bag and brown sunglasses. The article says she was on her way to the U.S. Embassy. DM has the new pics.

    • Aqua says:

Being papped will be apart of her everyday life now and I think she’s handling it and herself very well. But yes her outfit upon taking another look at it does need to have the iron taken to it.

  28. Happyhat says:

Boring – but, you know, sometimes a boring Gap-esk outfit is required in life, especially if you’re a lawyer. I prefered her fug outfit from yesterday – a little more full of life.

I once, years ago, I accidentally wore a Gap-esk outfit – I’ve never felt a wave of depression descend so quickly. I can imagine if I put on one of D-Kate’s outfits, I’d be suicidal…

  29. FingerBinger says:

Reading through some of these comments makes me feel bad for this woman. Everything she does is going to be scrutinized. People hate her manicure. You know something is wrong when people hate the color you’ve painted your fingernails.

  30. Miss M says:

She has great hair and has improved her wardrobe. She is pretty and , at at times, reminds me of AnnE Hathway and Elisabetta Canalis.

It is safe to say the roll out of the new girlfriend is the same. The only difference is her profession/education. Now, go away, stop your source from telling us details about your life and plan your wedding quietly, George.

  31. Beatrice says:

This outfit says that she read the comments yesterday on her awful airport clothes. George’s stylist now on speed dial.

  32. roxy750 says:

I really hate when women hold their purse/bag/whatever like that–so snotty, so snooty and so awful. It’s so pretentious. Sorry, my opinion. Her hair is great.

  33. dahlia1947 says:

I like her pants. I just love crisp white clothes, but they do seem to turn into spill magnets! Her hair is awesome, but her manicures bother me. It looks like she’s wearing cheap press on nails. Blah!

  34. Hannah says:

I don’t understand why there is so much negativity against this woman on this site. Has she even spoken yet in public? I mean apart from in relation to her work. I find it utterly bizarre to have such strong opinions about someone like this. The negativity seems to be solely based on the fact that she is marrying George clooney, that her wardrobe isn’t chic enough and that she smiles in pictures.Baffling.

Cuz this site caters to minivan majority moms who want everyone to dress like they shop at the Macy’s women’s section. I can say that cause I’m from that demographic too.

    • FingerBinger says:

She gets hit with shrapnel because people on here don’t like Clooney. The way they are picking her apart on here is a little ridiculous.

  35. Abby_J says:

I am not a George Clooney fan, so I don’t care much about who he marries, but she is beautiful. I love the outfit too. Better than the ripped jeans.

  36. ninal says:

I think she’s hot and wacky. No doubt these two are planning to become a real power couple that works off each others professions synergistically but that’s fine with me. They will be looking highly attractively while doing it!

  37. Maggie says:

    I think she’s really pretty.

  38. Daffy says:

This ‘relationship’ looks more and more like a mutual business arrangement to me.

  39. videli says:

Damn, I like the folds on that shirt, though I think it would only work on small-boobied women. I’m beginning to like looking at this woman.

  40. Aqua says:

Isn’t she just wearing what most normal people wear to work?

  41. jane16 says:

    She looks gorgeous here.

  42. lowercaselois says:

A study done in the journal of Human Nature on why wealthy men marry younger women

Cronk and Dunham found that both men’s and women’s incomes were positively correlated to the amount spent on an engagement ring. These two findings are indicative of marriage customs found in other cultures such as bridewealth and dowries. Furthermore, the authors uncovered a negative correlation between the amount spent on a ring and the bride’s age. In other words, the younger the bride, the larger the expenditure. Cronk and Dunham argue that their findings suggest that the amount spent on an engagement ring is linked to the mating “quality” of each of the two partners (as gauged in this case by the respective incomes of both sexes, as well as the age of the brides-to-be).

She looks great! it’s all I have to say…

I have already grown a bit tired of the coverage of her. I don’t know why so many articles are stating that “women like this don’t come around often so he didn’t want her to get away” type sentiment. While of course I value education, there are millions of women with awesome careers that have gone to prestigious universities. It’s not like George couldn’t of dated one previously. Also I do have a feeling her background helped her education/career greatly. I went to Ivy League and there are many who really got in through connections or from countries with low representation.
We know nothing of her personality and I believe her whole human rights side has been exaggerated. I read she lives with her mom, which is fine, and her clothes seem a bit juvenile. Anyways. She is not someone I am captivated with and I don’t understand it all when we know nothing of her personality.

Her outfit is nice but boring. Nice hair tacky nails. Her looks are not my taste at all but she is an attractive woman. Nothing against her but I don’t see why everyone is acting as if she is some amazing woman and rare due to her education and career.
It’s his money but spending that much on a ring is insane to me. Esp for someone he hasn’t known that long ! It all seems very quick and a bit odd due to his whole history

I still wonder why it took Clooney’s PR-team so long to understand he needs a radical change regarding his girlfriends. Nobody is gonna fool me into believing she just “fell out of heaven”, and into George’s lap. This was a very calculated move, from both sides. So I don’t think she is shy, or uncomfortable with being photographed- she knew what she was going into. She is used to cameras anyway, since she prefers to work for highly controversial clients, and already did plenty of interviews. She likes the attention, and likes to talk since she’s very opinionated. Her way of dressing so far looks quite eclectic. I wonder what Bono thought when she talked to him about human rights wearing that neon greenT-shirt with the sparkly scull. Did Clooney cheat on Keibler with Amal? That question must come from people who don’t understand a thing, really. Keibler was contract, not love. So is Amal, only fitting better into his new ‘serious’ image. And let’s not forget, Clooney is an actor, so protecting, and nourishing his image is second nature to him.

She looks different in every pic, odd..honestly it’s rare for a mature woman to be so completely devoid of any curves. Sort of a skinny Ray Romano with hair. That aside, I think it’s great he’s moving to England..be far more revered there, as she obviously is. Madonna is like God there but has been a late nite punchline here for a decade.

      • siri says:

There are already new stories out about her changing George’s diet, and getting him to shed weight before the nuptials…as if he ever was overweight…Somebody out there must have a ball with inventing all these hillarious tales. But yeah, she’s frighteningly skinny- and George reportedly loves some big steak. I remember Stacy being slightly fuller at the beginning of their relationship, and at a certain point became quite bony. Must have been the “love diet” 🙂 But I’m not sure if George will like the attention in the UK- the paps there can be merciless. And Alec is not there to defend him 🙂

      • Jayna says:

Madonna was made fun of all the time in the U.K.

  46. Fue McCormick says:

Her nails look cheap … but I like her outfit. Not the shoes, though; they look cheap, too.

  47. Suzanneg444 says:

I think she’s very attractive…her coloring and hair are very striking…but frankly….I’m already OVER hearing about her. I wish them both love and happiness…but hopefully they’ll keep their private life…PRIVATE so we don’t grow to hate them like so many celeb couples.

  48. Princess says:

I have no opinion on their relationship but her clothes, both casual and work wear are pretty standard for the UK and for lawyers. Most lawyers here tend to dress well, if a bit “safe” for work but tend to not have the time, energy or inclination to spend a lot of time on their personal wardrobe. Even at the high end places we really don’t dress like people from “The good wife” or “Suits”. Also, I don’t think professional women are as groomed in the UK as they are in the states. it’s really only the reality tv stars that tend to be groomed and polished all the time. The way she dresses for work and in her time off is just so normal and the same as her peers here which actually makes me think this is legit . Argh I can’t hate her, those law exams require so much study! Poor girl hasn’t had time for fun, go enjoy your holidays Amal!

    she needs to eat

  50. HoustonGrl says:

Omg I think she is STUNNING. And I like her normal-ish clothes.

  51. leigh says:

Anyone else think she looks like Angelina Jolie but with a tan?

  52. Liz says:

Clooney is falling all over himself trying to prove to the public that he didn’t hire all his “girlfriends”. Not buying it. I don’t know what the logistics are with Amal but she’s probably one of the few who understands the legal jargon in the contractual agreement.
