Tom Hiddleston, RDJ, Chris Evans post #CapforStrat selfies & tweets: adorable?

TH2

Did you realize that all of The Avengers people are on Twitter? Except for Thor and Captain America. But everybody else is. Even Robert Downey Jr. So, they decided to use their Twitters for good this past week. The story is sort of tearjerker. Here’s the background:

Stratford Caldecott, 60, is a huge comic book fan and loves Marvel movies. Unfortunately, due to his advanced prostate cancer, he was too ill to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier in theaters. His daughter Sofie Caldecott started an online campaign to get him a DVD before it’s released in August.

Thanks to her efforts, people began posting pictures of themselves appealing to the cast of The Avengers and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. by holding signs and using the hashtag #CapforStrat. Mark Ruffalo was the first star from the movie to participate. “Banner/Hulk for Strat! #CapForStrat,” he tweeted Wednesday. The actor, 46, added the caption: “Hang tough Strat! We are pulling for you.”

[From E! News]

Of course Ruffalo was the first! He’s the nicest and most down to earth of all of them. Anyway, after Ruffalo got the ball rolling, Samuel L. Jackson posted a Cap for Strat photo, then Robert Downey Jr posted one of himself and Chris Hemsworth, and then Tommy Hiddleston went overboard and posted two #CapforStrat selfies. To be fair to Tom, after he posted the second photo, he tweeted: “Oops. I didn’t realise the one from last night went through. Internet was down. Oh well, Strat. Now you have two! #CapForStrat”.

It’s nice. It’s heartwarming. I hope Marvel arranges something special for Strat. Something more than an advanced DVD, although that would be nice at the bare minimum.

PS… Hiddleston tweeted this weekend: “And That. Is A Wrap. On Crimson Peak. So long, Thomas Sharpe. So long, Toronto. What an extraordinary crew.” Tommy is finally finished in Canada! Come back to us Tommy! I’ve missed my dancing, dorky Tommy.

This is a very sweet thing for all of them to do. Strat and his family are in my prayers.

@’p’enny, don’t forget Tom needs REST. Make sure he gets some.

Chris Evans has a twitter. He rarely uses it. Scarlett doesn’t have one AFAIK.

    Great gesture!

Black Widow, Scarlet J is missing. Not sure why, she mustn’t be filming at the moment.

Hiddles has gone Toronto to Los Angeles – must be up to some fun or packing an audition or two in.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Or maybe for Pixie Hollow II and more discussions with Disney….

      • Lilacflowers says:

The Pixie Hollow thing did very well. The series had a following (Angelica Huston is in it! With Lucy Liu) but many parents bought it to give themselves a break from interminable viewings of Frozen.

he better not be doing voice overs for pirate fairy 2! there’ll be no allowing him out of my dungeon ever again.

= i reckon he is pinning down Marvel CEO Kevin F and the script writers, for a BIG chat ] It’s probably his first opportunity to meet with these guys since they officially announced Thor3 was going ahead. And, how can Hiddles negotiate any new film roles for 2015 if he is going to get called off for Thor3. He needs to get stuff pinned down. And, if i was agent, I’d be getting him big fat pay rise as reward for saving Thor2’s skinny film of an ass.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @’P’enny:

“Thor2′s skinny film of an ass” – hear hear! Though to be fair, I think both he and Chris save that film – their chemistry is delicious. I read somewhere that Hiddles basically doctored the script, too – that it was he who came up with the idea of adding Loki and Odin scenes, and something else, too. Is that true? I also read that the final version of the script wasn’t ready even when the first trailers hit the screens o_O Is that even possible?

      • 'P'enny says:

        @ intro

        1) There is a debate between Kevin F and Hiddles who insisted on adding the first Loki and Odin scene. Kevin turned round and said that he couldn’t remember Hiddles suggesting it in the early days of the film production, but conceded to Hiddles as reward for being a good egg!! [or something similar] it was in the comic, and hiddles insisted it should be included. At that point, there was no scene between Loki and Odin in the film and there needed to be.

2)Hiddles and Hemsworth came up with the working together bit, pre-production.

        3) Hiddles wrote and basically insisted Loki needed to emotionally broken in the cell and he added the cup-tossing scene, and the throwing the furniture in his mind idea. [this scene makes me angry, because we know from edited clips that it was a lot longer, and lot more angsty]

        4) Joss Whedon wrote the summer reshoot of Loki’s Cap America scene and rewrote the script on the barge-ship thing.

        5) the final Odin and Loki reshoot, the one where Loki took the throne was shot in LA ,last summer, and was a final add-in too. Hopkins admitted it, and Hiddles said on the commentary he acted Hemsworth’s line to Hopkins because Chris was in H/Kong. Chris filmed his lines in Hong Kong. The scene was edited together.

in regard to trailers, there is so much Loki stuff in them that was not in the film that suggests that a lot of editing and the new reshoots was yet to be finalised before the trailers were released.

      • Isadora says:

‘p’enny, I see you are a very determined woman: fatten up his paycheck, fatten up the guy himself. Keep up the good work!

      • Intro Outro says:

Ouch. This looks like such a mess =/ I have been thinking for some time that Malekith’s storyline had been cut down to accommodate for more Loki scenes because obviously he’s more marketable. But, if the original trailers hinted at more Loki than there was in the final version… It means both Malekith’s and Loki’s scenes were cut down? But – to make room for what?

No matter how you look at it, whoever the “official” scriptwriters for TDW were, they did a poor job =( Was it because it was rushed? I really hope they’ll be able to do something much more coherent and substantial with Thor 3. The chars deserve it, they’re much better than their storyline.

      • 'P'enny says:

        @intro

the editing was rushed, IMO, they cut way too much. And despite that, there is still less than 30 mins of screen time for Loki. someone has worked it out at 19 mins.

      • Isadora says:

I think the trailers for Thor 2 were very misleading. It seemed like it was all about Thor & Loki while in reality Loki’s screen time was indeed not that long. I’m still pissed that they took out the scene where he screams in his cell, devastated, cut foot and all. It was so incredibly powerful.

The whole film was imo rather … rushed (for lack of a better word). I mean, there were quite a few scenes with a lot more possibility but it ended with a cut and the next scene. I was wondering if that was because Alan Taylor comes from TV work, where you get bits and pieces of action and it all comes together in the long run over many episodes and not cinema, where you have to make one harmonious two-hours-movie. Or maybe it was really the screenwriters fault.

It’s amazing to hear what Hiddles did for that movie though and not only acting-wise. I’m glad they let him because it seems to have really added to the qualitiy of it. If I remember correctly he once mentioned that he would like to direct something at one point in his life and I’m curious how that would go… Hiddles, call me, let’s make a movie together!

      • 'P'enny says:

        @Isadora

I think they should let Hiddles direct Thor3, he jokingly said he asked to Feige to allow him to do Thor2. but, he has no experience and it would be a risk. But, they don’t have a director yet….

Alan Taylor didn’t edit the film, Marvel team did, and he was upset about the cuts as the fans were. although, his attention to detail was a bit rubbish, he just didn’t get the quality acting performances that Branagh did. [except for Hiddles] Hemsworth and Hopkins was really monotone in some scenes, Hemsy only comes facially alive when he is acting across from Tom.

At the end of the day, Thor2 was written and commissioned before Avengers came out. They had no idea of Loki’s popularity then, it was always meant to be a Thor focused film and Alan Taylor said on the commentaries that there was very little Loki in that first script. He had to put more in, then Feige decided six months before release to add even more of him in.

I think Hiddles was really messed about, and I take my hat off to him for not moaning through it all and fighting for the character, if it was any other actor they probably wouldn’t have bothered and just turned up and acted and gone, ‘thanks for paycheck.’

      • M.A.F. says:

Are we sure Thor 3 is a go? Last I checked there was no date yet and there was debate as to when it would come out, either 2016 of 2017. When it does come out, I hope they get rid of Jane and Darcy and keep their asses in Asgard.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Isadora:

Re: cell scene: most of those cell scenes were terribly cut. Why cut that scene where Loki is speaking to Frigg? I know many people did not understand what was going on and thought that Frigg was just an illusion Loki created to talk to himself o_O And yes, the trailers were misleading and probably it was done on purpose, too.

        @’P’enny:

Whoa. It’s even MESSIER than I thought! Thor 2 was written before Avengers?? I can imagine how much rewriting had to be done because of what Whedon had done to Loki’s char – he would have been a rather generic villain in Avengers imo (especially if you haven’t watched Thor 1) if it weren’t for how Hiddles played him.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Adding into ‘p’enny’s response to Intro:

        1) Joss Whedon was brought in rather late in the process and he asked why there was no scene between Loki & Odin, which Tom had been asking for since the beginning. That’s when Feige agreed to do it and they brought them back for a re-shoot. Apparently Hopkins was difficult. While doing PR for it on Leno, he explained that his process was to learn and deliver his lines and he made no effort to understand what anyone else was doing. They showed the clip on Leno and when asked what the scene was about, he said he didn’t know, he just learned his lines and he didn’t know what Tom was doing or why he was in shackles.

2)Both Tom and Chris insisted that there had to be more than the brothers just fighting each other, otherwise they saw no reason to do it. They also insisted on the bickering in the elf spaceship because Chris said you can’t put two brothers in a car for a road trip without arguing. Tom had gone on a road trip with Chris and Liam and supported his position and the dialogue in the spaceship is based on Chris and Liam bickering.

        3) I agree with ‘P’enny in being angry with the prison cell scenes being cut and not even included on the BluRay. Of the Marvel series, Thor has the richest family saga and they keep filming it and then cutting it out. In the first Thor, they deleted as many scenes as they left in – Frigga actually holds a coronation ceremony for Loki. They also take more risks with it, even though, being set in outer space, they thought it would be the toughest to sell. They had no idea how any of their films would fare with a November release. That isn’t comic-book blockbuster movie season, the summer is. November is more the Oscar contender season, but they decided to test that market by releasing Thor in November and, admittedly, surprised at how well it fared, placing within the top dozen highest grossing US films for the year.

4)Tom wrote the “trust my rage” line in the barge scene.

And I would love to know where the “hitting doesn’t solve everything, brother” line was supposed to go.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@M.A.F., they hired writers for Thor3 and they’re working on a script now. Marvel has said they want to expand to four films a year, one a quarter, instead of the one or two a year they have been releasing. Releasing Thor 2 in November was testing the market to see if they would get support if they did that and they were pleased with results. Such an early spring release for Captain America; Winter Soldier was also a test. So, Marvel’s scheduling over the next three years is in flux. Additionally, while the actors’s contracts are for a possible number of movies, they are also very likely time-limited as well (for example: six films in ten years). Hemsworth will have two more films on his contract after Age of Ultron and they will probably want to make use of that before the contract expires.

      • 'p'enny says:

        @lilacflowers

“the hitting doesn’t solve everything brother” seems to be, from the TVclip, set on Vanaheim. But, i think they edited it out because they moved Loki’s first scene to being the one with Odin. I think this might of been Loki’s original introduction in the film. [my guess anyway] and when they did the escape scene, they adjusted it slightly to, ‘don’t hit it brother, just press it gently, instead’

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Lilac:

I guess at Hopkins’ age and with that formidable career behind his belt he can afford saying such things, but I can’t say I’m too impressed to hear that lol. Why show your lack of interest for a film you’re promoting and have agreed to take part in and accept paycheck for? To distance yourself from it? Kinda uncool.

That “Trust my rage” line is awesome. I wonder about that dialogue between Frigg and Loki… Actually, now that I think about it, the Hiddles train hit me full force when I was watching F&L talking in his cell and caught myself thinking: What is *this* doing in a comic book film? 😀

The deleted Thor 1 scenes are precious. Especially the character-setting pre-coronation banter between Loki and Thor. Why, Marvel? WHY??

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Intro, much of the family dynamics in the Thor series goes far beyond the usual comic book movie fare. That is one really screwed up family and the actors invest a lot in conveying it, except for when Hopkins decides to just do line-readings but the others pick up for him.

      • M.A.F. says:

@Lilacflowers-the hiring of the writers was the latest/newest news. Over on ScreenRant they did an article on the time line of when all the Marvel films would come out going into 2020 since Marvel, like you said, has decided to change their filming schedule and start making more than one film per year. But on that list, I don’t think Thor 3 was down other than it being speculated that it would be release in either 2016 or 2017 (which the latter sounds way too late for a Thor 3). So hopefully with the news of the screen writers, Marvel will be able to say when Thor 3 will come out/start production (I’m going to guess they will make that announcement after Guardians comes out).

My understanding of the problems with Thor 2 was that Marvel was not going to give Taylor the running time he wanted hence why the movie was cut the way it was. It was originally reported that there was to suppose to be more about why Malekith wanted the world to go back to darkness, something about Odin’s dad or granddad killing Malekith’s family, which would have explained the whole plot because there seem to very little motivation behind Malekith other than “we want the universe to be dark.” But an actual explanation or at least some emotional investment would have been nice.

And as some of you have pointed out, too many scenes put into the trailer that weren’t in the movie (Loki and the fur coat anyone?). I wish more studios behind these types of films will take a cue from Peter Jackson and New Line and release extended versions/director’s cut. Doing the standard “deleted scenes” extra with no set up is such a waste and leaves everyone going “why wasn’t this in there?!”

By the way, I love these movie discussions. Everyone has so much insight.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@M.A.F, as you mentioned that Screen Rant list was speculation and included several unnamed films, which leaves plenty of room for Thor 3. Every time Feige gives an interview, everything shifts. One week, he says there will be an individual film for Black Widow, the next week, he says no. They hired the writers for Thor 3 several months ago. They have the major actors under contract and they left with an incredible cliff hanger. Feige usually gives his clearest statements during the San Diego Comic-Con, although right now, he’s probably trying to figure out how to top last year’s spectacle.

      • Intro Outro says:

I love these discussions, too! I didn’t know all these details about Thor 2 production, they really help place its shortcomings in context.

And it’s not the 1st time I’m seeing this fur coat allusion. Can someone please enlighten me? I went and watched old TDW trailers and there was no fur coat anywhere near or on Loki 😛

Re: director’s cut: it’s not only Jackson who’s doing it, it’s a well-established practice. I have director’s cuts of all Aliens and that really is a MUCH more satisfying experience, for example. I have no idea why Marvel doesn’t want to concede. Being pinchpenny yet again?

      • Hiddles forever says:

Oh my God, I learnt a lot about Thor movies production just reading your comments!
What an awesome bunch of ladies you are! 🙂

      • 'P'enny says:

        @Intro

the sexy fur coat scene, is wonderful but its literally two seconds long and his hair is lovely, curly and shiny and he is in the prison cell or prison area, looking over his fur covered shoulder giving a campy smile and saying “give them what they want” this gossip is that this may have been a scene between Loki and Odin in the prison area, with Loki having imprisoned Odin. However, no one knows and no one is speaking about it, despite the huge fan mumbles on tumblr. the clip it is on youtube, and there is loads of references to it on tumblr. I can’t link to it, as I am on work computer.

@lilacflowers, topping last years comic con will be forever impossible to me, there isn’t an actor with the cheek, confidence and charm to pull off what Hiddles did. Anyway, I am expecting at least the announcement of Thor3 film date. I want it to have the second cinema booked in date for summer 2016. 2017 is just ridiculous, Hopkins maybe dead by then.

      • Intro Outro says:

Oooohhhh found it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP0NB0Kj9sk Hahaha this is THE CAMPEST I’ve ever seen from Loki 😀 Damn the person who scissored this film down 😀 It definitely looks like it could be Loki talking to the imprisoned Odin, by the way.

Comic Con was amazeballs. A friend of mine was there when Tom appeared and you had to read her tweets – she went utterly nuts lol. And she’s not even a die-hard fan. I love watching those CC vids – Tom teetering on the verge of laughing and fighting his adrenaline rush not to break the character while being all evil sneers and pure charisma.

Oh and that “My wife loves you!!” 😀 😀

      • M.A.F. says:

@Intro Outro -you’re right, it’s not just Jackson doing the director’s cut but I guess I’m use to the way the LOTR extended versions are more so than other films because I watch those films religiously (LOTR I consider to be my Star Wars 1977 moment, if you know what I mean).

      • Kate2 says:

I love this thread because I have had these same issues with both movies, especially after seeing deleted scenes recently.

        @lilacflowers and p’enny

The fact they cut the prison scenes where Loki breaks down is absolutely infuriating. I would LOVE to see more than just Loki screaming while sitting on the floor. Keeping them in does 2 things. 1) It adds dimension back to Loki as a fully developed character as opposed to comedic relief (my only complaint with how Loki was written in the Avengers, which I still loved, was that the darkness was gone and he was more of a joke, despite the scene with Black Widow and a couple of others) and 2) it adds weight to the “Trust my rage” line, because you actually see the rage. I honestly didn’t know what he meant by that line initially. I thought “Rage against who, Thor? Odin? Does that mean he’s still pissed even though they’re working together?” I was so confused and then I figured out what he meant.

I also just literally last night saw the deleted scene where Loki is handed the scepter and becomes king of Asgard. I honestly didn’t even know it existed. Again, if they had kept it in, things that didn’t fully make sense, made sense. For example, the Loki/Thor fight scene at the end where Loki says “I never wanted the throne!” formerly made no sense because they edited it to look as if Loki grabbed the throne when Odin went tits up. Now it does because they literally surprised him with it out of nowhere. It also makes Loki look less like a whiny brat complaining about how he was a king and he was betrayed and all that because THEY GAVE HIM THE THRONE. They just handed it to him and then got all mad when he started doing things his way.

As you said, they keep shooting these great, USEFUL scenes with the family and then they keep cutting them, so annoying.

“4)Tom wrote the “trust my rage” line in the barge scene.” – Didn’t know that, interesting.

“And I would love to know where the “hitting doesn’t solve everything, brother” line was supposed to go.” – I don’t recall that line, what scene? Sounds funny. I still laugh at “TA DA!!”

I saw this, but didn’t watch it, I’ll have to do that.

Why aren’t WE being asked to edit these films? Marvel should mine the CB site and have us re-edit both Thor films. We’ll make them an a$$-ton of dough.

      • Kate2 says:

OMG I just saw the fur-coat trailer. Are you kidding me? That line by itself is amazing, I’m officially dying to know what is going on there. GRRRRRRR.

Oh and that “My wife loves you!!” :D:D”

That appearance was brilliant, both from a performance angle and a PR angle. My TH crush is newly developed so I only just saw that about a month or so ago. I must have watched 3 different versions of it because the official one from SDCC is cut and edited. Its hilarious to see him trying so hard not to crack up and stay in character. There is an interview with him immediately afterwards (after he changes out of costume) where he talks about how he couldn’t see or hear anything when the lights came up because of the flashes and people screaming. I can see how your friend would get swept up in that excitement. He brought the house down.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @M.A.F.:

Yeah, I know what you mean about Star Wars moment 😉

        @Kate2:

I couldn’t agree more about Avengers’ Loki not being particularly deep or interesting (not that I think that Whedon intended to write a particularly deep villain lol).

Also completely agreed with what you’re saying about both Thor 1&2 deleted scenes detracting from the way we see Loki. He indeed didn’t originally want the throne (and damn that “Is it madness? Is it? Is it??” line breaks my heart every time I watch it).

As for “Trust my rage” – I thought that the fact that they never showed Loki completely breaking down in his cell really made many people forget that it was he who told Kurse where to go in order to reach royal chambers. While I’m pretty sure that the Dark Elves would’ve found their way there even without Loki’s “help”, he must still be feeling some degree of personal responsibility for Frigg’s death. And it all got lost in the editing =/

The way he deals with the situation is hands down CLASSY.

      • Kate2 says:

        @ Intro –

I did not see that video but I’ll watch it when I get home. Here’s the link to the interview I mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsRw4E0PbQ8&index=9&list=PLluj7xe9WbbwYdDlWt0gW2ljH_vQGC6na

As far as the Avengers version of Loki, I think he was interesting in that he was indeed menacing and had some funny lines, but as far as deep, you’re right, that’s what got lost in Whedon’s interpretation. The tragic Shakespearean element (thank you Ken and Tom) that Loki had in Thor was gone. Loki is straight up heartbreaking in Thor, from when he finds out who he really is (“TELL ME!!!”), to the fight scene with Thor (“Is it madness? Is it? IS IT??”), to the end when he falls into the vortex (“I could have done it, Father!”). I admit it got pretty dusty in the room when I saw the look on his face right before he lets go of the scepter. But you’re right, I don’t believe there was any intention on Whedon’s part to make Loki that deep. Which is fine, The Avengers is a great movie, and I love watching it. But as fun as he is in that movie, its not my favorite interpretation of the character. TDW gets back to a little more of the original as he’s definitely darker (even without the prison scenes we want) but still falls a little short. I’m ok with Loki having a few smartass things to say while also being a bit dark as he is in TDW.

And I hadn’t thought about your second point, that he was crushed with the knowledge that he probably played a role in getting Frigga killed. You do absolutely forget about that part. I certainly did. So there’s that too.

Good lord, I’m just realizing I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this. I’m not sure that’s healthy…. lol

      • Isadora says:

Ah, you are the best! I’m gone for a day and already so many interesting background info and valid points here! I agree with all you said – Avenger’s Loki isn’t very deep, but maybe it’s much more of a typcial comic book film than what I would have done given the material. For me Asgard and the immediate “royal” family is still the most interesting plot point and it’s crazy that they edited out most of that stuff. So Avengers was the least appealing film to me of the three, although there were great scenes – I really like the “kneel”-scene (that’s also some pretty meaningful dialogue if you look at it closely) and the part where Loki says “I remember a shadow, living in the shade of your greatness etc.”, the whole thing just got stuck in my brain and Hiddles is perfect in that scene going from hurt to indignant to angry to funny (“I’m listening”) from one second to the next.

Were there ever cut scenes from the Avengers anywhere? Because I only remember those from Thor and Thor 2. And yes, there should be a director’s cut of these movies. Maybe it will come one day? I mean, there were 22 years between “Apocalypse Now” and the release of the Redux version. And yes, it probably shouldn’t be a director’s cut, but a celebitchy cut lol. The only problem: it would become a very long movie – so great for DVD, nothing for cinemas.

And I really think the premise of Thor 2 was very interesting. I have no idea if this is in the comics, but the Dark Elves and their quest to bring the world to its former state of darkness is – to me – a great story (and I shall stop here because I can talk for hours and hours about mythical and fictional depictions of light and darkness and its role in apocalyptic visions lol).

The more I read about Hiddles involvement in the Thor stuff the more impressed I am by him. Damn. The “trust my rage” line is really, really good and his choices for the character prove his intelligence and intuition. And while I’m already praising his virtues here: Can I just say how much I love his Comic Con 2013 look? Not only in his lovely post-Hall-H-interview (such pretty eyes! and thanks for posting it, haven’t seen it before) but also during the Nerd HQ stuff. Unf…

@Intro Outro: The video in that garage reminds me of that interview where Tom mentioned that people in his class thought he would be a teacher one day. It sounded like he thought that was a strange idea, but I can totally see it – the way he handles a crowd (he found the right words for the situation while staying nice), the way he talks about stuff he loves, the way he can explain certain things with words that everybody can understand and relate to, even all his twitter wisdom lol.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@’p’enny, I suspect it will be in 2016 too and we will learn more at Comic-Con. Thor is going to have to figure out at some point that things are awry back home. Loki/Odin can’t keep sending Sif all over the nine realms (delivering the aether at the end of Thor2, traveling to earth to find Lorelei on Agents of SHIELD) without somebody (most likely Sif herself) asking why and Thanos did threaten to track Loki and destroy him if he failed to capture earth and deliver the tesseract. Being in the prison protected him but now he’s out and Thor isn’t the only one he must hide from. You’re right, Feige doesn’t have anyone in the upcoming films that could pull off a comic-con performance like that so he’ll have to come up with something very different.

      • Kate2 says:

@intro – just watched that video, ugh, poor guy. He’s such a gentleman though, geez. Seriously, what a sweetheart. Again, not that I think he’s a perfect angel by any stretch, but if the “nice guy” thing were an act, I think he would have snapped and just stormed off and he would have every right to. You could tell he was seriously annoyed but he still accommodated everyone. Good thing the security team was completely useless. They were like “Yeah, scream at him all you want, I don’t give a f—.” If this is what it was like after a regular premiere for a movie he wasn’t even starring in, I can’t even begin to imagine what happened at Coriolanus. What a $hitshow that must have been.

PS – I have pretty salty language generally so I’m trying to censor myself, but if I’m breaking any rules or offending anyone please let me know.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Isadora, yes, there were several scenes cut out of the Avengers. He had several more scenes with Stellan Skarsgaard and Jeremy Renner that were cut and there was another scene when he tele-communicates with The Other about how the chitauri aren’t listening to him during the invasion of New York and he is told he needs to command them with the staff, which was lying on the roof of Stark Tower at that point. That’s why he’s heading back there when he catches Hawkeye’s exploding arrow. And yes, he was so pretty, all freshly-scrubbed and glowing and excited during that interview after Comic Con and at Nerd HQ. The “I’m listening” line was one of my favorites. I love the mountaintop scene with Thor.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Kate 2 and Isadora:

You ladies keep giving me Loki feels when I was kinda starting to forget them, argh! 😀

Avengers was never supposed to be deep or tortured, it’s a classic comic book film and it does what it is supposed to do perfectly. But the most emotional moments in the film, imo, are the ones connected with Loki – because of how dark and tragic his story is.

And yeah, @Kate2, I think I’ve also spent way too much time trying to understand why Loki is so fascinating lol. I would write an essay here but I don’t want to bore anyone, so if boiled down, I think cinematic Loki’s biggest value as a character for me is that his descent into what he is now is in almost equal measure a product of circumstances – and of his own dark and acutely different nature.

I never read comics but in mythology, he’s a stranger among other gods in Asgard. A completely different entity that lives by its laws and is basically unfathomable to others. And Hiddles conveys it – whether consciously, having read the myths in addition to comics, or based on his actor’s instincts, I have no idea. Now, if the cinematic Loki simply embraced this difference and gave everyone middle finger – that would have been one story, BUT instead, he is still drawn to his adoptive family, to his brother whom he obviously loves, to his mother. Can you imagine the depth of his conflict? *shudders*

Also, from this point of view, the conflict between Thor and Loki is one of my absolute favourites of all times because there’s just so much there.

      • Intro Outro says:

This is the deleted scene from Avengers (“Your force lacks… finesse” lol) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6nbIrnBu1o&feature=youtu.be

And this is a featurette from TDW DVD where you can see Hiddles backstage at CC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6nbIrnBu1o&feature=youtu.be

        @Kate2:

I also have a pretty salty language 😉 I guess the fact that English is not my mother tongue kinda helps me censor myself, but I really do love some artful cussing so no complaints from me at all 😉

        @Lilac:

That mountaintop scene makes me think of a saucy school queen enjoying how several boys are scuffling for her 😀

    • j.eyre says:

Tom is in LA? Why say – I happen to be in LA! Well isn’t that convenient?

If you will excuse me, I must transform Thornfield into a movie studio/karaoke bar and scatter scripts laced with Shakespeare, sheet music laced with deep emotion and confused waterfowl along the walk leading to my door.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@’p’enny, Feige has admitted that he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to top Loki at Comic Con. When he thought of it, he was trying to come up with something that would top Robert Downey Jr. dancing through the crowd with an Iron Man glove on, then, in his words, realized: “I have a classically trained British stage actor under contract with a movie to promote.” He also wanted Tom to sit on the panel in costume, but Tom was adamant that he didnt want to break character and Loki wouldn’t understand what a panel was about. He also wanted separation from his character. Let’s face it, RDJ basically is Iron Man at this point and there’s no separation between him and Tony Stark at comic com. Scarlett Johansen and Chris Evans were there and both told Feige they could never have pulled it off. Chris’s reaction was “Dude! WTF!”

      • 'P'enny says:

        @lilacflowers

Hiddles said he wrote the script as well.

      • Intro Outro says:

        Tom’s one smart actor 😉

      • Isadora says:

“RDJ basically is Iron Man at this point and there’s no separation between him and Tony Stark at comic con.” – I totally agree. And while that’s probably fine with RDJ, it would be poisonous for Hiddles at this point in his career.

Feige is in a tough spot regarding planning someting better for Comic Con 2014…

  11. Intro Outro says:

Very sweet indeed. I really hope Stratford will get his DVD and I’m wishing him health and good luck!

Avengers are all looking great by the way and we’ve already decided that Hiddles needs a good long rest like whoa, he looks exhausted. And instead he’s off to LA.

On a shallow note: from the previous discussions I gathered that CHemboy is wearing a wig in Avengers 2. Did he wear a wig for Thor, Avengers and Thor 2, too? I thought that was his natural – and gorgeous – hair o_O

    • Lilacflowers says:

He wore a wig in Avengers and Thor 2, probably in Thor 1 too, but they incorporate some of his own hair into it.

    • M.A.F. says:

Avengers was definitely a wig, he had the worse hair out of the lot of them. Thor 2 I figure to be a combination of both real hair and extensions. Thor 1 looked like his real hair.

    • Intro Outro says:

Thanks, ladies! That’s a bit of a disappointment 😛 But his Thor hair was at its best during Thor 1, and since that was probably his most natural Thor hair lol, it is not such a huge disappointment after all! 😀

      • balehead2012 says:

        @Intro Outro
Wait, what, he was wearing a wig all this time? I had no idea!
Off topic: hi! Did you manage to catch up with some of Roy’s latest movies?

      • Intro Outro says:

Oh hey there! Well, as you can see from other ladies’ answers, it seems so! *sniff sniff* 😀

Re: Roy: Noooooo =( I’m very busy at work now, but I laid my hands on Mémoires affectives and I’m totally watching it as soon as I can! But I had a fit of nostalgia and rewatched a couple of LFN episodes. Ahhh…. Michael….

      • balehead2012 says:

Re: Michel, I know, it never gets old 😉 I have fits of nostalgia too when I watch some LFN episodes back to back. Just so you know, there is an official fan club on yuku, managed by an old fan / acquaintance of his, there’s always fresh info about him.
OK, I’m off now, reading some more hilarious comments! Love this site 🙂

      • Intro Outro says:

Yuku? Can you please link me? Thanks in advance! ^_^

    • Micky402 says:

It was a full wig in Thor 1 and Avengers, his own hair with some extensions in Thor the Dark World. Chris himself confirmed it during and interview with yahoo movies.

      • Intro Outro says:

Oh! Oh… Oh well. I still love him as Thor, he’s quite perfect in that role. Wig or no wig 😛

      • Miss Melissa says:

I thought it was the other way around? His own hair in Thor 1 (hence his dyed black straightened job – he mentioned it in interviews). Hair with extension in Avengers (dyed black again) and wig in Thor 2 (no dye job when filming in London).

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Miss Melissa, we were discussing whether Chris Hemsworth was wearing a wig during the films.

      • Miss Melissa says:

        Oops

      • jammypants says:

I like how Chris and Tom sort of did a reverse on the hair. Chris in a wig and Tom with his real hair, then Tom with a wig and Chris with his real hair.

    • Evie says:

Actually, IntroOutro: Marvel did even better, they arranged for a private screening of Captain America The Winter Soldier at Stratford Caldecott’s house!

This is a heartwarming story. Applause to all of the Marvel actors/actresses who Tweeted to brighten this man’s day.

      • Intro Outro says:

I read about it, yes, it is very heartwarming ^_^

      • Abby_J says:

I guess Chris Evans was too busy filming to show up and watch it with him. That would have been pretty awesome. Actually, they could have all shown up. You know Robert Downy Jr would have been up for it. 🙂

    • jammypants says:

Thor 2 was real hair…maybe with extensions added.

  12. serena says:

How can one not love them I wonder?

  13. FLORC says:

Don’t the stars of the film get advance copies of the movies? I’m very sure i’ve heard they do before. Some donate them privately to fans who can’t make it to cinemas much like Stratford.
It’s nice they’re all pitching in to make this man smile, but surely 1 of them has already sent him a copy. My cynical side thinks this is more self promotion for the actors and movies.

    P.S.
If even just 1 of the actors delivers the dvd to him in full costume i’ll take it all back.

    • Intro Outro says:

But do they get their copies this early? I don’t know about films, but as far as I know, with CDs, for example, musicians may get them maybe one month before the release date, not earlier.

      • FLORC says:

I dont’ know about this movie specifically, but yes they do in other cases. A movie can be cut and ready for theatres or play in theatres and be on dvd or bluray.

        Mass production is another story.

  14. Lilacflowers says:

Marvel has arranged for a showing of the film in Strat’s hospital.

    • Secret Squirrel says:

Great to hear. Would be nice if one of the guys wandered on by to sit and watch it with Strat. Such a shame of the circumstances that have brought this about though.

    • Hiddles forever says:

Awww that is really great! 🙂

  15. Hmmm says:

I thinks other actors from the movie posted pics for Stratford as well. Cobie, Renner, Clark Gregg and the Chinese actress also have send pics. Really nice thing to do. All the best for Stratford and good fun with the movie!
Sometimes social media can do great things!

  16. Diana says:

Mark Ruffalo, such a lovely man. And how adorable is RDJ with that smile?!

  17. Cora says:

RDJ and Hemsworth have their signs mixed up! LOL! I wonder if that was an accident or a little joke on purpose. Either way, this is still very sweet and touching. 🙂

  18. Miss M says:

    A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E!

  19. feebee says:

Such small gestures have such big impacts for the ones they’re for. And even they ones they’re not for cos it has nothing to do with me but it’s made me feel happy 🙂

  20. V says:

According to Buzzfeed, Marvel did send him a DVD and I read on another site that they were going to screen it at Strat’s hospital

  21. Abby_J says:

Totally adorable. All of them. Every single one of them. They can all come live with me now. I’ll make room. Jennifer Grey can even come visit her husband, as long as she will teach me the final Dirty Dancing dance. I’m sure Tom Hiddletson would be happy to dance along with me, and, lets be honest, he probably already knows Patrick Swayze’s part.

I was thinking that Hiddles should have just removed the second picture, when he realized two were posted, but I guess that since this is the internet, and people on here are CRAZY, there would be some mystery as to why he removed the second picture. Tumblr would be using screen captures (cause you know there were screen captures) of the deleted picture to examine the image in every angle to see why it had to be removed.

  22. Ellen says:

Is there any news about the sick man’d reaction to all this? I bet he was speechless.

In the world of Hiddles, I hope he isn’t doing that running film. It sounds boring and when I googled a picture of the man he looks nothing like hiddles. I think he should do something completely diffrent to what he’s done before and put Loki and Shakespeare to bed for a year or two.

Also if he’s going to do another PR walk like he did in Toronto, can he at least do one with him wearing no tee, shorts and sneakers walking along the beach front. That would get him noticed in the papers 😉

    • 'p'enny says:

the running film is something completely different to what he has done before, and although i prefer him in period dramas, i think this role will test his acting abilities.

and, i am with you on the beach PR walk, maybe if goes for a stroll with Elsa and babies along malibu beach he may get papped.

      • Hiddles forever says:

That wouldn’t be possible, Chris and family are in London now.. Right? :/

      • 'P'enny says:

        @hiddles

yes, I believe so, I saw pictures of them around London. so Hiddles must be in LA for business.

    • Lucretia says:

Poor Hiddles looks so tired . . . Did anyone read Jim Beaver’s MASSIVE shout-out on FB to his friend Tom as they wrapped up Crimson Peak end of last week? It was epic. As in long (winded). But very complimentary. Apparently, Tom encouraged and affirmed Jim as an actor and he’d like his son to be like him (if he had one) and his brother to be like him (if he had another one), and his friend to be like him (oh, he has Tom as a friend). Effusive.

      • Lilacflowers says:

And he hopes they stay in touch even if they don’t get to work together again but he hopes they get to work together again and if he had another daughter he would like her to be like Mia. Jim was getting carried away the last few days but he had plenty of nice things to say.

      • Isadora says:

Ah… Jim Beaver. The man is full of feelings. And it’s kind of funny because he doesn’t look like that at all. But inside that Wyoming trucker’s exterior there is a sensitive actor’s soul, it seems.

  23. Patty Cake says:

I love them all. Samuel L. Jackson’s words were very kind I thought and so was Tom’s. Tom does need a long nap and a very mini vacay from the limelight. Maybe a weekend with me in Derbyshire.. I like Earl Gray tea with a splash of milk and cucumber and avocado sandwiches too. He can teach me a bit of his English slang and recite the reading he’d done : Stories Before Bedtime by Tennessee Williams. http://youtu.be/1ihRXQgwtKY

  24. 'p'enny says:

High Rise has been sold in Cannes to Studio Canal, this is fantastic news for the UK, considering there isn’t even one scene been shot, yet, casting still unfinished and the uncommercial subject matter of the book. http://m.screendaily.com/5072066.article. That’s confidence and should help the cash-flow situation. hehehe

    • Camil says:

Those are good news. High Rise is going to be a great movie 🙂

    • Isadora says:

Looking very much forward to it. I ordered the book recently, so soon I’ll have much more insight, but things run smoothly so far. I’m really curious how the film will fare in the U.S. given the unusual subject. I hope it gets a smart distributor there.

  25. Glj1990 says:

I’ve been all over this story for the last couple of days. It is touching and awesome. That was very sweet of the actors and actresses to show their support to Mr. Caldecott and his family during his tough time with cancer. It was very classy, noble, and considerate of them to take the time out of their busy lives to do a sweet, little gesture to an extremely ill fan who loves their work. If you notice, it looked like it was truly from the heart from just about all of them. I’m glad that it made Mr. Caldecott, his daughter and family joyful with the well wishing and support from them and others who joined in on the #CapForStrat campaign.

If you don’t mind me also noting, I’ve noticed each time reading this story as the days go by that they haven’t mentioned Scarlet Johansson at all. I tried to find a mention of her in this story but found nothing. Which means that she’s oddly the only one who has yet to show support or at least, acknowledge the ill Marvel fan. Especially if she starred as one of the main characters in the films. Now, I totally understand that she’s pregnant with her first child and been busy lately. And perhaps she wasn’t told about Stratford Caldecott and his daughter’s campaign. But at some point, she has to be aware of this situation, what her co-stars had done to make this gravely ill man’s turbulent days worthwhile, and help his daughter’s campaign against prostate cancer a beautiful one. So far looking at the updates to this story, unfortunately, there’s still nothing from her. Makes me wonder. 🙁

    Oh well. #CAPFORSTRAT!!!

  26. Intro Outro says:

More (or rehashed?) news on Kyriakides http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/kyriakides/30599/tom-hiddleston-linked-with-kyriakides Good part? ‘Disney is reportedly “actively meeting with directors to helm the project”.’ Also, the writer is Bill Wheeler. Anyone knows anything about him?

If Hiddles signs on, this biopic will certainly be something he hasn’t done before. Appearance-wise, Hiddles is more than suitable for the role imo http://www.marineconsult.cn/sites/default/files/images/u1/1.4.jpg Now, all we need is a solid script and good director lol.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And location filming on the Boston Marathon route!

    • 'P'enny says:

rehash of info from the Tracking Board. Typical of Den of Geek, ignore Tom through all the crimson peak updated and then they link to this! stupid website.

    • 'P'enny says:

I don’t know what Shatner is up to? is he attention seeking? he picks on Carrie Fisher a lot, but she fights back. I hope Hiddles isn’t his next target. GRRRRR. Besides he isn’t even following Tom, maybe he clicks follow it might get his attention more.

  27. Leah says:

Yes, a follow may do it so that Tom actually might see it. LOL. He tweeted Tom two days ago and Tom hasn’t responded hence Shatner got creative with this latest message.

  28. Anne tommy says:

I agree with the criticism of Anthony Hopkins as Odin, especially in the dark world, his lack of interest in the totality of the film was apparent in His performance too I thought, he was pretty uninterested when more commitment would have made the father and son dynamic much stronger. If he feels he’s slumming it he should not take the sizeable cheque. I recall hiddles saying that he tried to be nice to fans because when he had met one of his acting heros the hero had been a bit of pri@ck or words to that effect. I wondered if he meant Hopkins but may be biased because Hopkins has never been a favourite of mine.

    • Intro Outro says:

Hmm, I might be wrong but if we’re talking about the same interview, then he was talking about his many failed auditions or something to that effect, non? I didn’t get the feeling that he meant another actor, rather someone like a producer. BUT of course we can easily be having different interviews in mind.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Intro Outro, I got the feeling that he was talking about an actor whom he encountered very early on. He was doing some theater, TV, and TV movie work while he was still in college and whatever it was, happened then. He has talked about working with Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave on Gathering Storm and how both of them were responsive to his questions and sharing advice with him. Redgrave told him to focus on repertory theater work to get started while Finney told him to go to RADA. He implied that others weren’t so willing to chat with or give advice to a young actor.

    • jammypants says:

I don’t think he meant Hopkins. He wouldn’t have worked with him otherwise. Plus Hopkins has nothing but nice things to say to him. I’m not sure how his indifference with the franchise has much to do with how actors view him.

      http://www.timeout.com/london/film/tom-hiddleston-interview-im-just-not-cool-enough

      • Intro Outro says:

Yes, thanks @jammypants, that’s the interview I had in mind! Somehow from his wording I gathered he was not referring to an actor/actress but now that I’m rereading it, it might indeed be so!

Btw. I really like that interview. I thought it kinda showcased a new Hiddles interview trend – much less gushing and sentimental, more candid and to the point. I thought it was good that he acknowledged his privileged background – but I also agree that ultimately, neither directors nor other actors care. A well-connected actor whose parents are also actors/directors or who began his/her career as a child actor is in a MUCH more privileged place with a huge head start than a classically trained Oxbridge/RADA graduate.

    • Isadora says:

I think he did mean actors (or directors) with that comment, but not Hopkins. More like people he really met very early.

And Hopkins… I get that “I’m old. I can’t be bothered anymore” vibe from him… I guess he just agreed to do Thor because he wanted to work with Kenneth Branagh and now he doesn’t care at all about Marvel and the franchise.

  29. 'P'enny says:

OMG! Hiddles has a selfie taken in a Santa Monica, by two girls, and bless he is STILL wearing a blue t-shirt and his black jumper. Seriously, Tom, I am having words with your mother. Get shopping!!!! Is that the land of bright surfy clothes and patterns?

What’s he up to? he is wearing his after acting, cool down uniform. mmmmmmm

I wonder if he has kept that place he had in Venice beach, when he filmed Thor… I’m going stalk, brb, I need a holiday

mmm Marvel Studios isn’t that far away from Santa Monica. 😀

    • Make mine a double says:

But ‘P’enny, you know he is terrified of bright colours. They burn if they touch his skin. If Tom suddenly turned up in a Hawaiian shirt, I would be asking, “Who has kidnapped the real Tom Hiddleston and replaced him with some strange colour-loving alien?”
And again, I post the link to probably the best tumblr site after Torilla: http://tomismonochromaticallyfabulous.tumblr.com/

      • Virgilia says:

Oh ladies, I seem to have rattled some of you, and for that I’m sorry. Additionally I will offer up an apology to Tom for my choice of words. It appears to me that Tom is very intelligent. And it has been my own experience that extremely smart men are often a bit emotionally challenged. So I’m jumping to a conclusion about Tom that could be completely wrong. For that, I apologize. I have a similar problem myself… My mind is usually racing, jumping from one thing to another, but when it comes to communicating, I have a difficult time. The older I get, the more I feel that I really don’t understand other people, to the extent that I often feel like an outsider looking in. And when I attempt to join in, it’s usually misunderstood. But I really want to figure this out, this “plays well with others” thing. So please accept my apologies, and I will proceed with extreme caution.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Nighty, acts as if he’s single? Technically, by the laws of every nation, he is single but okay, we’ll equate a relationship as not being single. How is he acting as if he’s single? How should he have been acting? Except for that short trip back to London for the Oliviers, he has been pretty much out of sight for three months so the only people who know how he has been acting are the people who were on the Crimson Peak set. Acknowledge the relationship? How? Issue a press release? Why? It isn’t really anyone’s business.

      • Kate2 says:

        @virgilia –

No worries. I think sometimes we all feel a little disconnected with the world at large. Don’t beat yourself up. The internet doesn’t help ease the disconnection. Its easy to say things out of emotion when its not out loud. 🙂 God knows I’ve done it too.

    • Isadora says:

      http://inspired-by-hiddles.tumblr.com/post/86404526222/stephany-i-had-the-honor-and-pleasure-if These?
Ugh, it’s the horrible cap again. Can someone accidentally burn it or something?
And I think you will soon be rid of the blue shirt. I’m creepy enough to have noticed significant wear on the seams in the middle of the collar (?) during the Crimson Peak photos. It will tear sooner or later there…

And yes, please do some stalking, I’m also wondering what he’s up to.

@Mmad: I’m actually glad he is “monochromatically fabulous”. I’m not really a fan of very colourful clothing for men.

      • Make mine a double says:

That quilted jacket must be about a million years old too. And Isadora, don’t worry – I too noticed the wear and tear on the blue t-shirt. I have a feeling he may cry and give it a burial when the seams finally go though.

And I can’t really criticise the monochrome, as I usually live in various shades of grey, (but not fifty of them…).

      • 'P'enny says:

        @Isadora

I think I know what he is up to, he isn’t on vacation because as much as he loves that outfit, I don’t think for one moment it is his casual holiday wear, the guy wears suits for tea and cake.

he has been snapped after a long day, wearing his acting come-down outfit.

there is a Collider interview where Hiddles talks about meeting Hopkins to talk about Thor, [Hopkins lives in Santa Monica] this explains ‘probably’ why Thor 2 Loki/Odin reshoots were in LA. Grumpy bugger, won’t fly to London. They recreated the throne room, in LA Marvel Studios with green screen. Marvel film studios are just outside Santa Monica.

I think, Hiddles and Hopkins are on call for a cameo/or one-shot, hence him not filming it in London with the Avenger crew. And, because I think it won’t feature the Avengers. It will be a Loki being Odin manipulating/plotting something type cameo, rather than a Loki and Thor cameo.

my guess work? – normally totally wrong when it comes to this kind of thing.

      • Make mine a double says:

Winter Soldier DVD? Might be too late though and maybe it would be for the Avengers DVD instead. ‘P’enny, I’m liking the speculation. You can feel spectacularly smug if it’s correct. Care to go for the lottery numbers this week too?

      • 'P'enny says:

could be Guardians of the Galaxy DVD, since that was linked with Thor 2 via Sif and the new weirdo character called the Collector. Or it could be an end of credits scene for Galaxy, but that would be quick turnaround.

      • Make mine a double says:

Guess we see how long he’s in LA for. You may have to get there pronto.

      • Make mine a double says:

@Camil, I’ve seen that. It MUST be true. It can’t work for t-shirts though, as that blue one is as tatty as anything.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Isadora:

“And I think you will soon be rid of the blue shirt. I’m creepy enough to have noticed significant wear on the seams in the middle of the collar (?) during the Crimson Peak photos. It will tear sooner or later there…”

Do I detect a trace of gloating there? 😀

I’d pay to see Tom’s face when he sees a hole in it… I’m sure the experience will be devastating for him lol.

      • Intro Outro says:

@’P’enny, I love your speculations! Btw, I wonder how many more films Tom owes Marvel – and if cameos also count against his contract. I have no idea how it works.

      • 'p'enny says:

“New Tommy-Tshirt Campaign” Let’s start a new t-shirt fund for Hiddles, we can start a Justgiving.com webpage. We can send it as a present from his Celebitchy-fans 😀

GQ will never award him a best-dressed ever again if they get a smell of that t-shirt, jumper and jacket. Seriously, we need to get word to him. LMAO

@camil love that link! that is really funny.

@intro he has 6/some say 5 on his contract, 3 left, and according to an every-changing-unsure-mind of Chris Evans cameos don’t count. [I still think that Pirate Fairy crap, is a contract burn-off ] But, one-shots? maybe different as that’s like ten minutes or more of screen time. To be hones can’t see it being a one-shot as they tend to focus on support characters. But, you never know.

      • Isadora says:

@’p’enny: Great speculation! I think you are on to something… Very exciting!
Haha… justgiving! Only if we find an exact new copy of his trusty blue shirt. (And heavens, if he ever finds us and our dragonfly ramblings here…)

@Camil: The jacket thing is so funny 😀

@Intro Outro: No gloat here, I’m actually a bit sad lol. Probably stems from the fact that I’m very much like him in the clothes department. When you wear something to death it’s like losing a companion.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Isadora, between you burning the cap and ‘p’enny burning other items, we might get quite bonfire going. And then we’ll have to take him shopping for more blue shirts and hats and black jackets and black jumpers/cardis/sweaters

      • Lilacflowers says:

@’p’enny, you might be correct on the One Shot idea. Marvel One Shots are usually attached to the DVD/Blu-Ray and tend to pertain to the Marvel film recently immediately preceding the film on the DVD. The next Marvel film to go to DVD will be Capt America/Winter Soldier, which Thor 2 preceded so a Thor2 related One Shot would make sense. The scenes that occur in the credits of Marvel movies usually pertain to a future Marvel release. Capt America’s scenes featured characters who will appear in Avengers 2 AND, most importantly in this conversation, to Loki’s spear. So, he could be shooting something Loki/Odin for the end of Guardian of the Galaxy or whatever the next Marvel film is after that.

      • Camil says:

@’P’enny a new Tshirt Campaign sounds good, but I prefer a “Shirtless Hiddles Campaign”

        Slogan:

“Make a woman happy, give her a naked Hiddles”

      • M.A.F. says:

I take it some of you didn’t click on the link Isadora posted and read the comments that followed. Click on it then click on Stephany. I don’t think he stayed in L.A.

As for the One Shot, didn’t someone (on here?) post something about how Marvel said they wouldn’t do a Loki one because of cost?

      • Isadora says:

I have to admit I myself read all the comments on stephany’s photo only now that you mentioned it and… wow… unfortunately I’m late to the party but it seems stephany works at the airport and revealed Hiddles destination (and deleted it after the Tommy mommies flamed her) and that he was with a female companion which may or may not indicate some romantic involvement.

What can I say? Will the internet be all over it? Absurd speculations? Weeping fangirls? *rubbing hands*

Seems like a holiday though, after his short business trip to L.A… Good for him! He’s probably slurping pina coladas with his hot piece on some beach right now hehehe..

      • Virgilia says:

Isadora, I’ll admit my initial reaction to Stephany’s mention of a magical place (omg, Agents of Shield tie-in? Nah.) was a little stab of jealousy. But now I’m finding it rather titillating, to think that Thomas is probably banging his brains out right about now. God bless him, he’s earned it! I hope they have a wonderful time! And use protection.

(And which lovely young woman is suddenly invisible? Hmmmm…)

      • Intro Outro says:

Dammit, I missed all comments to those nice selfies! Thanks @Isadora for summarising them 😉 Is that second destination he’s heading to also in the US?

Tommy mommies and Benny nannies are 2 of my fav CB coinages, I have to admit.

And Tommy really does deserve a long, hot and preferably multiply repeated bang. To properly recharge his batteries before High Rise lol.

      • 'P'enny says:

I’m gutted, I had my hopes up that I sorted out his next filming spot by doing a Loki cameo and instead he is hotting up with Ms FWB in a clandestine cocktail and glamorous holiday. I am really jealous, not of her, but the cocktails by the pool. I really need a holiday too, LOL.

      • Virgilia says:

Wow, if those are the kinds of benefits Tom’s friends get, I want to be his FWB too! Wonder if he enjoys the clandestine aspect of his trysts; keeping it all secret from the fangirls?

      • Isadora says:

@Intro Outro: I don’t know where the second destination is or how much Stephany revealed. It was already deleted when I read it, but someone in the comments mentioned Tahiti / a magical place. I think that’s a reference to Agents of Shield because it seems that every time the talk about how Coulson survived Loki’s stabbing he answers “Tahiti. It’s a magical place”? No idea, never seen that stuff. But as the Tahiti comment has now vanished and some other girl mentioned nice weather (contrary to Norway where she’s from) it may as well be true.

@’p’enny: For your sake I’ve come up with a rather far-fetched conspiracy theory. 😉 Because if Tom is really in Tahiti then there is this Hopkins interview to consider where they asked him about Odin’s fate in Thor2 and he answered: “I’m not sure. He hasn’t physically died on screen, but I played him as a man who’s on his way out. I think they would have to explain in “Thor 3,” if there is one, what happens to Odin. Or maybe it’ll just be a story line, maybe he went to Tahiti or something for a holiday. I don’t know.”

So we can fantasize about a one-shot with Odin drinking pina coladas with Loki and the mysterious Ms. 😀

      • 'p'enny says:

        @isadora

nice thought, but i am not sure Marvel will pay to ship camera crews etc to paradise, when green screen is so much cheaper.

he is on holiday with Ms FWB, i’ m pretty convinced as she is following a luxury travel planner, she’s organised a holiday for Hiddles /other or she’s on the break too. 😀 so jealous, not of her but the bloody holiday. I NEED PARADISE.

In the meantime, i hope the airport woman doesn’t lose her job, because if a rich-fan girl turns up or a paparrazi’s got sniff and happens to be in that bit of the water, then she’s in trouble. Don’t they have data protection laws in LA?

      • Intro Outro says:

Waaait. Is he travelling with Arthy aka FWB? Or is he travelling with, in Dani’s words down the thread, a “luxury travel lover”? I kinda got lost in all these Hiddles lovelife trivia O_O 😀

      • 'p'enny says:

        @intro

LMAO! the travel guru, Kara Levy Slater works for a very luxury personalised holiday company and Jane A is following her. [As we know she is Ms FWB. ]

The two of them reveal more in their twitter ‘follows,’ than in their twits. And, they do it on purpose. I am also disinclined to gossip about it, just in case the cotton on. Which was why i was avoided typing her name. Don’t want to burst their clandestine bubble 😉

      • Kate2 says:

OK, so just to make sure I understand, as I’m still learning the nicknames here. Jane Arthy is Ms. FWB? (FTR – she seems a bit fangirly to me. But if Tom’s still hanging out with her, it must not bother him for whatever reason. Meh. Anyway, I thought they weren’t together? Also, why do we know who she’s following?) But we think that’s who he’s with in Tahiti or wherever the hell he is? I’m not surprised he’s with a female companion, because I doubt he’d be traveling on vaca by himself, but it still seems like this is all a lot of speculation. FWB could be following this person for her own reasons. Either way, he deserves a good time so I hope he’s enjoying himself, regardless of the situation.

“I am also disinclined to gossip about it, just in case the cotton on.” – So sorry, what does this mean? lol

I could use a trip to Tahiti. A nice swim up bar in the pool….

      • Intro Outro says:

        *gigglesnorts into her late-night coffee*

@’P’enny, I got ya! I only very superficially know about all that thing with, ah, FWB (wasn’t on CB back then), but honestly, as long as she and Hiddles know exactly what they *want* and *can* get from each other and are happily bang… erm, spending their time together – they’ll get nothing but kudos from me lol.

      • Nighty says:

Kara Levy Slater? Where do you find these names? Who is she?? Sometimes you actually scare me at your hability to “stalk”..
But has TH have been seen with her?

      • Isadora says:

It could be that he and FWB are still … erm.. spending time together as Intro put it so eloquently, but I think them traveling together to Tahiti is still a speculation. We don’t even know if the travel guru is in any way connected to this Tahiti trip. But oh well… it could be *shrugs*. I hope he has great time with FWB or anybody else.

And yes, a vacation would be nice, although I’m probably not much of a Tahiti person. On the other hand my general life is so much less exciting than Hiddles’ that I don’t really need to wind down on a tropical island, I’d rather need to wind up lol.

      • Kate2 says:

p’enny has me checking out FWB’s twitter feed goddammit. Curiosity and all. Her most recent favorites are all Hiddleston related, and she’s following a bunch of Hiddleston related feeds, (ie Thor the Dark World; Marvel, Elle UK, etc.). So yeah, sorry, my fangirl observation still stands. Obviously its not like I had a shot with him, but I hate the groupie starf**cker culture and she just comes off that way. I could be reading it wrong though and maybe they’re truly in love and just keeping things on the down low (although if that were the case she could have just met him at their destination as opposed to being seen together in an an airport with hundreds people around, which makes me wonder if this is a romantic thing at all, but I digress) , in which case good for them. Or, they could just be screwing around and having fun, in which case ALSO good for them, lol. But my overly nosy nature makes me want to know what’s up. RIGHT NOW.

Its annoying that I care this much.

      • Kate says:

JA is currently touring with Royal Blood who is in Germany working and has a few more concerts to attend. So unless she just decided to take a break in the middle of work I wouldn’t suggest anything. Also on tumblr awhile back somebody posted a picture of Tom supposedly walking with JA but come to find out it was a magazine editor for Elle, but people were freaking out anyway. At this point I think everyone assumes every woman he is seen with is JA.

      • Kate2 says:

Aaaaand with 1 short post, Kate clears it all up, lol. Well done, assuming you have some actual knowledge. The airport woman could be an assistant or something. And we don’t even know where he was actually going. Do people still go to Tahiti? lol, I honestly have no idea since I’ll never be able to afford to put it on my itinerary.

      • Hannah says:

        @Kate

Where did you even find that piece of info ? The band is not touring in Germany according to their official site. Besides, JA’s job at Warner is not to follow bands around while they are touring. Tour managers are there for that. The only artist she would follow around is Clint Mansell because she is his manager.

… and I know way too much.

      • Kate2 says:

        Hannah with the counter! lol

        This is good.

Kate! Ball is in your court!

      • Isadora says:

Wow… talk about privacy LOL. And still I can’t help it and be curious… *sigh*

I was wondering about the meeting at the airport thing too. But it’s not uncommon for flights from London to Tahiti to have a stop in L.A. so why not meet up there.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@’p’enny, most companies, including airlines, have confidentiality policies about their guests. There are rules about who can get copies of passenger lists and when they can be released, so, yes, depending on her employer’s HR rules, she could get in trouble for divulging a passenger’s destination. Although a destination could be guessed based upon the places where the airline flies.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Kate2:

Re: fangirly girlfriend: from everything I’ve read here on CB, it really does seem like Hiddles often goes for this type of girlfriends. JA, at the very least, gives off a very groupie kind of flair indeed. Btw, just recently I’ve come across a post where a graphologist was analysing Tom’s handwriting and she made some very interesting points about him being an anxious person overall and also that he’s a perfect friend but not a perfect boyfriend 😉 She wrote he’s the kind of guy who likes his women to need him lol.

My attitude to this? I really hope that when he’s ready to settle down (which I doubt will happen within next 5-7 years), he’ll be confident and mature enough to want to be with an independent woman. Given his current career and priorities, however, a groupie type of GF seems to suit him perfectly. While I find it slightly, well, disappointing, at the same time, if both partners in such a relationship *fully* understand what they have signed for – why not?

All that said, we really do not know whether Hiddles is currently with FWB or not. ANYWAY, I hope he’s having some awesome rest (hot banging included) and getting ready for HR – which, ultimately, interests me immeasurably more than any GFs lol.

      • Virgilia says:

What kind of self-respectng woman would put up with Tommy’s controlling nature, relationship-wise? He won’t be seen in public with them, won’t even mention them or acknowledge them in any way, won’t travel with them… I’ve been in BDSM relationships that were better than that!

For all his romantic talk, Tom’s actions indicate that, rather than being a romantic guy, he’s anything but. One might even say he’s manipulative and unfeeling. Make no mistake, I think he’s gorgeous, talented, smart and charming. I would welcome a one-night stand with him, even jump at the chance. But that would be it. I don’t think our dear boy has the emotional maturity to handle a real relationship, or the type of woman who would hold his interest in the same way that his career does.

So, yes, fangirls seem like the ideal “type” for Thomas at this point in his emotional journey. For all his self-deprecating charm, he loves his pedestal.

      • Nighty says:

@Virgilia, since yesterday I’ve been wanting to comment on this, but, maybe due to worries about work, couldn’t find the words… But you’ve said it all, exactly what I think… If she’s been with him since last July, she has no self-respect… And yes, he seems selfish and immature in the feelings department… I mean, the comment when asked about having a girlfriend: “I dunno, do I have one?” – while with Susannah and then: “When there’s something to write home about, I’ll say”- supposedly with JA, he’s not boyfriend material, not ready for it… emotionally speaking…

      • neverland says:

        @virgilia and nighty

His actual words were more along the lines of ‘I’m not sure,, sorry’ re; susannah. i also read the ‘something to write home about’ comment differently from you but that is a matter of translating to paper and personal opinion. to completely alter what he said to make it sound worse is a bit… yeah. maybe you didn’t mean to and were remembering it wrongly though, so sorry if that is the case. it’s just a lot of stuff he says is misquoted and people flip their sh$t over it…

[EDIT: the quote is “Well, erm, I dunno actually,” he says, shyly. “That’s kind of an awkward answer, isn’t it?” – so yes, your wording was right and i apologise! but I would still contend that it’s not an immature or selfish answer, rather an awkward non-committing answer because they broke up around that time]

I also think it’s pretty presumptive to say that just because he doesnt talk about or bring someone out in public (fans and events) he’s hiding them or being manipulative, mean, etc. IF (and that is an IF) he is in a relationship, serious or casual, he may well go places with them or introduce them to the people who he wants to know i.e. friends and family who he trusts. There’s certainly been rumored sightings of him and women (whether they’re the same woman, who knows) at cafes or out places together. Just not public as in ‘celebrity public’. romantic doesn’t just mean ‘telling everyone i’m in a relationship’. that can be the opposite of romantic sometimes.

Also re; won’t travel with them… surely he did just travel with a woman, otherwise this conversation wouldn’t be happening?!

Man, idk. Maybe he is hiding someone, maybe he isn’t, maybe he just doesn’t feel inclined to parade someone about in the media or has decided not to talk about it after how other women around him have been treated. Maybe he’s enjoying a fwb situation which is mutually beneficial and neither of them feel like saying ‘hey we’re having casual sex!’ in a magazine. I enjoy a bit of speculation but sometimes it verges on a bit too far based on very little facts.

      • Nighty says:

@neverland I understand what you’re saying, and I also understand that at the beginning of a relationship, he’ll want to keep it low profile, because he doesn’t know what will become of it, if it will work, they’re still getting to know eachother, etc…
But if they’re dating, it means they started 10 months ago, it’s almost a year… And he acts as if he’s single.. If they’re actually dating, if they’re an item, why not acknowlegde it? After 10 months you already know the person pretty well…
I also understand the fangirling problems and that she’ll go to a rough time due to some fans.. Is she going to hide forever? If they are in it for real, sooner or later she’ll have to handle the crazy fans,,, Or are they expecting the fans to stop adoring him?

      • M.A.F. says:

Re: the Susannah comment about “I dont know”… when he stepped out with her to promote the DBS, she was mislabled as his wife. When he said that comment, Im going to guess they were trying to work out their relationship shortly thereafter hence the comment.

As for the “when there is something to write home about” comment, I took that nothing more as “I’m not going to give into rumors about my life and when there is something special/serious, then I’ll talk”.

      • neverland says:

        @nighty,
(sorry, loooong treck back up to the reply button)
oh no, I agree that after ten months it’s a bit odd, but again it’s a question of what their relationship actually is, if there’s anything there at all. It’s also a question of our own experiences vs his, and of course his includes fans and publicity and girls getting a bit, erm…flustered if he seems to be dating.

He seems like the type to keep his private life private, and that may have doubled down even more recently. I think atm the only way he’d be able to confirm a relationship is by tweeting a pic of him and the person together because he won’t be doing interviews or promo right now – and again that doesn’t seem his style, he never did it with susannah anyway.

and again this is all speculation – we’re all making claims that he’s been hiding someone for months and months based on gossip and rumor – and I mean, we all love a bit of gossip but sometimes it tips over into a bit too serious for my personal tastes. I apologize if you found any of my comment towards you rude, BTW. we can all think what we want, but i guess i’m overly-cautious because i’ve seen some fans go way too far and make all kinds of claims based on ‘observations’ – which may or may not be true but they seemed pretty convinced!

      • Intro Outro says:

Whoa, ladies, lots of guesswork here. And, I’m afraid, some too far-going conclusions, too 😉

I think the main thing we need to keep in mind when judging a celebrity’s relationships is that they never work in the same way as non-celebrity relationships. There are just so many additional factors that we as non-celebrities can’t fully appreciate. It’s one thing if a non-celebrity doesn’t want to openly admit he/she has a partner – and a different one if a celebrity doesn’t want to admit that. It does not necessarily mean that he/she is manipulative or controlling or unfeeling. Also, we simply do not have enough input data to be able to draw well-grounded conclusions.

I also think that it’s one thing to say that a guy is psychologically immature/too dedicated to his work to emotionally invest in a serious relationship – and a different thing to say that this same guy is manipulative or controlling ^_^ One does not necessarily entail the other. Just my 5 cents.

      • Intro Outro says:

Oh and @Virgilia and Nighty – I hope I didn’t sound too harsh, I really love hearing different opinions and it’s always interesting to hear what you ladies have got to contribute.

@neverland – good point about fans forgetting they are working from rumours and ending up believing their own speculations as grounded facts.

I admit I’m a moron and didn’t know where the hell Tahiti is so if that’s the case with the flights, then that makes more sense.

      • Kate2 says:

And to Intro and neverland –

I agree completely with everything you’re saying. Its one thing to guess who he’s with and speculate on the nature of their relationship, its another to make claims about his character, especially when calling him mean or manipulative. The statements made seemed to be presented as fact. I don’t know the man well enough (i.e. – not at all) to make a statement like that. His desire to keep a girlfriend under wraps could be coming from a completely legitimate fear for her safety as opposed to anything untoward. We need to keep in mind that we don’t know what kind of sick shit he receives via fan correspondence. He may have been made aware of something long ago that concerned him for any woman in his life. So I would be very hesitant to assume he’s an overall crappy boyfriend because of assumptions made on a few pictures and comments made by rando fans. We just simply don’t have all the facts.

(And I realize that I am making an observation about JA being a fangirl based on nothing but her Twitter feed and other gossip/opinions of her but I want to point out that I also admitted that I could be totally wrong about her and that I was in fact making an assumption. My point is that that’s just how she comes off, not that that’s how she actually is. She may just be proud of her boyfriend/friend/f*ck buddy.)

      • neverland says:

        @kate2

I think it’s not outside the realm of possibility that she doesn’t realize everyone can see her favorites on twitter. I didn’t know my favorites were public until a couple of months back and never knew I could see what other people’s were either. If that’s the case it might be that she’s fav’ing these things ‘privately’ for whatever reason and not intending to show it off. OTOH she may be flaunting it left right and center, who knows?!

And he might be color-blind. Many guys are.

And for the record, today’s news reports that BC is coming here to play Billy Bulger in Black Mass. If Tommy comes to visit him, Tommy can stay at my house. BC can stay at somebody else’s. I’m having some weird feelings about BC playing somebody I’ve actually met and worked with. Not the least because Billy Bulger’s defining characteristic is his Napoleonic Complex. He is short and it defines him. I accept that actors don’t have to look like the person they portray but this feature is such an important part of the man’s personality. I also get really nervous at attempts at our accents. Billy’s is classic Boston. Depp’s attempt at Whitey’s has had me worried and I wasn’t convinced that Guy Pearce, whom I adore as an actor, could pull it off either. Additionally, the film takes place at a time when Billy Bulger was in his late 40s, early 50s, not in the same age bracket as BC. But that’s the director and BC’s problem for now, my only concern is taking care of Tommy if he comes to visit.

      • Camil says:

He went to la and jane arthy followed a girl from la who,s a luxury travel lover. She has been quiet on twitter lately. I wonder if tom is going to attended wimbledon this year? If yes, i bet we can swe ja with him again. I feel like i was rugby all along – they are an item

  32. ratherbeme says:

So there’s a blind on CDAN today that really makes me think of Hiddles.
    http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2014/05/blind-item-5_22.html

Though I don’t think he would be considered A list.

    • Make mine a double says:

I don’t think it can be Hiddles. He’s not reached A-list yet, let alone barely hanging on to it. Also, unless he met someone on the set of CP (which is a distinct possibilty – new FWB from there?) he’s been so busy filming. And it’s too early for me to speculate who the actor could be though. Hmm…

    • Intro Outro says:

Doesn’t sound like Hiddles to me, either. Maybe Cumby and his elusive secret GF again? Although Cumby isn’t an A-lister yet, either.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@ratherbeme, just three weeks ago, CDAN considered him “C+ list” and he really hasn’t done anything in that time to alter that listing, so probably not him.

  33. joe spider says:

For all those talking about Tahiti, hasn’t Tom said that, after a holiday in Hawaii, the heat doesn’t really suit him? Just to muddy the waters a little further you understand. 🙂

But then, of course, he could be visiting his sister in India!

    • 'P'enny says:

He did say it was paradise though, and Tahiti is a place where he can genuinely have a good time without being hassled by fans. it will be out of the price-range for most of us. They probably renting an island. LOL.

    @ Virgilia says:

Anybody would think you knew the man!!!! You are making a lot of assumptions. Perhaps he just hasn’t had a girlfriend (as opposed to a friend who is a girl) for a while, and that might just be why you haven’t seen him out and about with one. Because if he had surely someone somewhere would have seen them – as I doubt he would be able to keep her locked indoors all the time.

And in his one photo at Wimbledon with JA he looked rather uncomfortable to me, as if she were trying too hard.

And given the reaction of some of his so-called fans to Sian Clifford an Susannah Fielding I wouldn’t blame him for not going public with a casual relationship.

Or shock/horror perhaps he has a girlfriend who doesn’t like publicity.

    • Virgilia says:

No, I don’t know Tom, except in a fangirl-stalkerish way. But he intrigues me, and I love a mystery. And I am making a lot of assumptions. I am nothing if not the devil’s advocate! I’m a mom; I’m used to giving emotional advice, and I’ve had plenty of emotional experience of my own. So I’m just stating my thoughts. I most certainly could be wrong. In fact, I’d be happy if that were the case!

      • joe spider says:

Your assumptions came across as rather strong imo.

I feel his comments re Susannah -“I don’t know, that’s a bit awkward” sounds to me as if they were having difficulties and he didn’t know what to say at a time when he wasn’t used to the press being on his case. Now he has more experience of dealing with the press I guess his method is to talk a lot but say nothing. A good strategy in my opinion. After all his private life is none of our business, and if he were dating JA I would be very surprised. But I will be quite happy to come back and admit I was wrong if they are.

    • 'P'enny says:

I’ve said this all along, she is a normal woman with a high pressure day-job. If the sh#t hit the fan, too early in the relationship it could affect her job/relationship. Hiddles has bat-shi#t fans out there. She is easy to find, locate and shout at if a fan felt inclined to lose it in their jealousy. And, she could be the one insisting it kept undercover.

Plus, the relationship ‘if it is one’ started when Tom wasn’t working and maybe he thought it would be a good summer fun romance. But, its still going, and the first test of a relationship for Hiddles was probably Coriolanus, on stage 6 days a week, then in Canada for three months. I bet he was thinking, let’s see how this goes first. If she can handle long absences, while I am filming with sexy women, I may try it next with the crazy fanbase.

Must be really hard to trust someone when your an attractive man , successful, loads of money and a great personality to boot. I just think he doesn’t want to rush things at all. ten months is nothing, in that celebrity world bubble. Plus, he comes from a broken home which will impact on his relationships status. He isn’t going public until he ‘has something to shout about’ his words.

this could be their first holiday together, being in a couple on your first holiday is a big test of a relationship. God, I know!! the flinging pants all over the floor, snoring night after night, sand in the bed, being seen with someone insisting on wearing surfing/bad print shorts, etc.,

      • joe spider says:

The idea of Tom wearing bad print shorts cracks me up! Surely they would be navy blue, grey or black!!

      • Intro Outro says:

ILU, ‘P’enny 😀 Very well-said, all of it. Also, extra points for reminding us about Hiddles coming from a dysfunctional family himself.

      • Isadora says:

Thank you, penny! The bad print shorts lighten the mood considerably! 😀 No man can make them sexy, not even Hiddles.

I just want to remind everyone that in reality we don’t know anything about Hiddles and his relationships (of whatever nature) and it’s all a huge assumption and speculation. We don’t know if JA is really in Tahiti with him. Could be, could be someone else entirely. If she is, we don’t know if they have been an item since last year, are just FWB, reconciled lately, meet once a year for a tantra workshop lol… whatever. And I have to say: if they are clever we won’t find out for quite some time either.

I’m surprised that most people assume that Hiddles is the one that keeps the girl(friend) secret and hidden. Like joe spider said, maybe it’s the other way round? Not everyone wants to be a very public girlfriend to a secret actor. There is a myriad of reasons why that would be bothersome – you lose your privacy, you might get papped, crazy fangirls go crazy, people judge you without knowing anything about you, newspapers write crap, people make assumptions, everyone talks about your relationship without having any insight, etc. I can totally imagine that a woman CHOOSES to stay away from public scrutiny for as long as possible. Looked at it that way Hiddles could be a very considerate boyfriend when he complies with her wishes.

So I say we should embrace our cluelessness and instead imagine Hiddles in short swim trunks (with or without print) cavorting in the tropic waves of Tahiti. And making out with mermaids or something.

      • Intro Outro says:

I was reading Isadora’s comment and nodding my agreement and thinking of what I would write – and suddenly found myself wondering yet again (because, you know, mermaids are pretty popular and rather seductive mythological creatures) how one can possibly make out with a mermaid…

      • Make mine a double says:

I take bad prints shorts over budgie smugglers any day. :/

      • Isadorauf says:

Intro, the “how” is probably the mythical part… 😉 But I guess if you are inventive…. ahem…

So now the Tahiti picture is Hiddles (with lots of sunblocker for his and Lilacflower’s sake) in Aloha printed macaw smugglers cavorting in the turquoise water with inventive mermaids while getting wasted because the pina coladas (including maraschino cherries and cocktail umbrellas) are so delicious. Nice one.

Edit: my username apparently got wasted too… *shaking head*

    • Alex says:

thank you Joe Spider , you took the words right out of my mouth. Couldn’t agree with you more!

Plus did anybody consider how maybe it could be his younger sister he’s traveling with. He has in the past said he loved traveling with her and I think they went to Hawaii after he wrapped hollow crown. It could be a bunch of people…we don’t know.

      • joe spider says:

Thanks all, glad we have a bit of sanity back. 🙂

However, in Tom’s case from the evidence we have seen (Cannes, cough, cough) it couldn’t just be be a budgie he was smuggling could it?

Feel free to supply your own alternative suggestion!

      • Intro Outro says:

*puzzled* I don’t really get this budgie smuggling joke, can anyone please explain? A budgie is a parrot, right? Erm… Soooo… o_O

      • Make mine a double says:

@Intro Outro, a budgie is a small bird like this: http://www.petinfoclub.com/Birds/FAQs/Choosing_a_pet_budgerigar.aspx
Budgie smugglers are very small, tight, swimming trunks, that men wear and it looks like they’ve stuffed a budgie down the front. I’m sure you can find some examples on the internet. I really don’t want to look myself – I’m scared what I may find.
I don’t know whether to find the idea of Hiddleconda contained in such a tiny swimwear item exciting, vomit inducing or just plain embarassing.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Alex, that is possible, especially since he hasn’t been able to spend much time with her while being in Canada for three months. Whoever he’s with, I hope they have a great vacation and use lots of sunblock.

      • Isadorauf says:

Ah… joe spider. Speaking of sanity…. I made a grave mistake today. I somehow ended up on ONTD (old interview there) and then it all went downhill. But not in the great Alice in Wonderland way, it became more of Isadora in Creeperland and now I want to bleach my brain.
It reinforces my belief that whoever is Hiddles’ mermaid, she probably (hopefully?) doesn’t want to be known as such.

If you excuse me now, my copy of High-rise came yesterday and I sneaked a 5-pages-peek and actually it seems to be a much nicer place to be than the crazed Hiddles fandom. Even with the dog.

P.S.: Budgie smugglers will in my brain always be tied to Giorgio Armani – and he’s actually allowed to wear them, not because he’s a fashion designer and nearly 80, but because he’s that kind of overly tanned old school Italian philanderer that makes them work lol.

      • Make mine a double says:

@Isadorauf. I’ll give you skin tanned like leather aging Italians (but not Burlusconi *shudders at that image*). I should however mention that Putin is fond of modelling the budgie smuggler look too. Where do you stand on aging ex-KGB mini dictators?

And High Rise is a really good book. Hope you enjoy it.

      • Isadorauf says:

Putin? KGB? Everything is great – I want to enjoy my future sushi without some added Polonium-210 “spice”!!

      • Intro Outro says:

HAHAHA oh goodness, thanks @Make mine a double and @joe spider, it didn’t even occur to me it might be an idiom! Ahh, that’s one of the reasons English is my passion – it’s so damn agile! I speak 3 more languages and none of them is anywhere close to English in this respect! 😀

Also – I doubt Hiddles is a budgie smuggler type. He finds it difficult to endorse normal-sized underwear. He’d probably think budgie smugglers are an insult to his, ahem, parrot 😀

@Isadorauf, I actually love your new wasted nick lol.

      • Portia says:

Or maybe he took this little budgie with him to Tahiti. It’s from the Crimson Peak wrap party. Someone posted it on lipstick alley. Dunno where/ how they found it. It could be innocent drunk fun or something more.
        http://www.picshare.ru/uploads/140514/MnHK8eOUp1.jpg

      • Isadora says:

Oooh… whatever it is: it looks like fun! 😉

(Ha, and the budgie looks like a brunette with a nice butt! Go for it Hiddles!)

      • neverland says:

looks like some drunken fun in the photobooth area (similar to http://instagram.com/p/n0x4_MmQ–/) imo! Group of girls who worked on the film having a laugh – I don’t blame them, he’s seems pretty fun at parties.

Personally I don’t think many people would whisk someone off for a holiday quite that soon after meeting them. Just for the sake of a quick and recent FWB getaway? Nah, he could’ve stayed in toronto or hung around in LA for that. If it’s a longer-term FWB holiday then I can see it, but in this case I think that pic is just a matter of goofing around at a party. The only ‘suspicious’ thing about it is how close her face and arms are wrapped up to him (so drunk, and shamefully so familiar!), but he’s leaning away and finding it hilarious.

      • Nighty says:

@Portia.. nice pic.. where did you find it…

      • Lilacflowers says:

Wonderful ladies, now I have images of Putin, Armani, and Liotta seared into my brain that I would prefer to have never imagined. And they’re wrestling.

Trying to cleanse this image from my brain by feeling myself as a mermaid cavorting in the warm, blue waters off Tahiti with Tom, who is wearing neither budgie smugglers or bad print shorts.

      • Dani says:

In my opinion the fwb is definitelly ja. She’s been following all his projects on twitter for the past year, almost all her twitter favourites are tom’s related. She has just followed A travel planner from la.
I wonder if they already live together. In recent weeks she followed couple of internal designers. Hmm

      • Portia says:

Frankly, I really don’t have an opinion either way on that wrap party pic. There have been other pictures of TH from when he was promoting Avengers where women who worked with him are either sitting cuddled up in his lap or in one case, two girls, one on each leg and clutching him to them very similar to the girl in the CP wrap party pic. Women adore him and touch him a lot and I believe he either has trouble keeping up personal space boundaries or he just doesn’t take these things too seriously.

I just thought it was interesting to throw the pic in the Tahiti speculation mix. I also don’t think it’s JA he’s with on vacay. Just from how she keeps tabs on Tom thru twitter, it doesn’t seem like he’s in touch with her anymore. FWB don’t act like that. Exes or ex-FWB do. Just my observations based on my FWB experiences. I could be wrong.

      • Isadora says:

I don’t really have an opinion if JA is the one. *shrug*
And in all earnest, I don’t think it’s the wrap party budgie. I mean, I don’t even say because they don’t know each other that long beause theoretically speaking they could know each other since autumn (?) when the crew made the body casts but alone from that photo it seems rather casual to me.

Portia, I think he is just a touchy feely guy or at least has no problem with it. He’s an actor so he works with his body (and the bodies of his co-stars) all the time, be it when his make-up & costumes get done or when he has demanding scenes like for example love scenes, close quarter fight scenes etc. When I was doing jobs years ago that demanded a certain amount of physical involvement (no, I was neither an actress nor a prostitute lol) I definitely had different boundaries than nowadays.

So in my experience actors tend to be quite hugging, physical people. Hiddles also never seemed fazed in interviews with touchy feely co-stars like RDJ and he hugs practically all his fans.

      • Hannah says:

        @Portia

JA and Tom’s personal assistant are following each other on twitter though. I doubt he would be following an ex/ex-FWB…

      • Isadora says:

You mean Luke? He’s his publicist and he probably wants to know what’s going on with her – damage control lol.

Plus I found it always awkward to de-follow someone when something’s over but not in a bad way. I have quite a few people on facebook with whom I hardly have contact anymore but nobody wants to delete the other one because it seems… unfriendly.

Not saying that their FWB stuff is over though, just adding doubts to every theory. 😎

      • Hannah says:

Nope, not Luke. Luke is not following her. And funnily enough, JA is following Public Eye but not Luke.
I completely agree with you about de-following someone. But the PA started following her quite a while after Wimbledon.

      • Nighty says:

Tom doesn’t follow her, though she follows him.. though I have no idea whether he has ever followed her…

      • Isadora says:

Ok… I have no idea who Tom’s PA is, so…

But well, if the job is ever vacant, Hiddles, call me! The boy needs some proper healthy food, some new clothes (I’ll even stick to the monochromatic colour scheme) and enough sleep. I’ll also craft pretty moodboards for his future roles and discuss a character’s motives with him. Ok, that’s probably the director’s job, damn.

      • Hannah says:

@Nighty : Tom used to follow her but he quickly unfollowed her when her name got out. To protect her from abuse I guess.

        @Isadora: ollyauld42

      • Isadora says:

Ah okay, thanks.. Wow, he looks young. (Or I’m just so old b now that I’m surprised how young people look who have already actual jobs lol.)

      • Make mine a double says:

Before all the TH threads got shut down on Datalounge there were a few people who would regularly post, who evidently lived near him, and would see him and JA out and about together. (This was last summer) One posted that she was busy rapping orders out at Tom’s PA, while Tom sat there silent and a bit cowed. How true this was I don’t know.

And Isadora, I totally agree about the age of people. I looked at the pilots when I was flying back to Vietnam, and they looked like they should still be playing with Fisher Price plane models, rather than flying a real one. :/

      • Portia says:

        @Isadora

Totally agree with you about actors having different personal space boundaries than the norm.

        @Hannah

I know that all three – TH, Luke, and Olly stopped following JA after Wimbledon but after TH’s interviews came out during the TDW promotion saying he was single Olly started following JA again, and I think that was for, like Isadora said, damage control. If i was a celeb, I’d have my PR ppl keep an eye on my exes. Honestly, if JA was talking with Tom, she wouldn’t need to keep track of his projects thru twitter like us fans. She’d have insider knowledge from him and wouldn’t need to track his movements like that. She always follows his projects the same time as us fans. That’s why ppl call her another fangirl. She even followed a CB feed twitter for a while. Idk why she’d do that if she was directly in contact with Tom. Why bother with his fan and gossip twitters when you’ve got the real deal right there with you? Nothing about her twitter says personal relationship of any type with Tom. It’s very much like any other fan’s twitter. If they are together then it’s obvious she’s not important to him because he doesn’t share much with her and she gets her info on him the same way as the rest of us do – thru social media and official press releases.

      • Intro Outro says:

        @Portia:

Ahhh, so many theories, so much to ponder lol. I agree with what you’re saying about insider knowledge. It’s not impossible that she followed that Tahiti travel planner after she’d discovered that Instagram pic with the comment about where Hiddles was heading. Maybe for some reasons she wants the world to believe she’s still with Hiddles? People play strange games that grow from strange places and as long as their games do not harm anyone – I try not to judge.

I really would prefer not to think of Giorgio Armani even if he were in a monk’s habit with the hood up!

As for ONTD haha, I have dropped in there once or twice, and when Tom finally surfaces with serious girlfriend/wife there will be a lemming like tragedy methinks.

    • Isadora says:

      LOL

They weren’t even the worst ones at ONTD, it was just puzzling that the mild cases of craziness were talking about the really hard cases of craziness. So you don’t know if you should be taken aback by the twitter girl they were talking about, that got Hiddles’ initials tattooed or shake your head over the people who are shocked by some jealous tumblr girls but constantly tweet him themselves.

  37. Intro Outro says:

And I love it how we just can’t leave this latest Hiddles thread in peace and keep coming back and commenting. We need our own Hiddles forum lol.

    • Nighty says:

lol @Intro Outro.. who wants to create one? HiddlesGossipPage?

      • Lilacflowers says:

Hiddleston threads are always active until the next one appears. There should just be a daily Hiddleston thread, consisting of just a random picture, old or new, and then we can all just continue the conversation.

      • Nighty says:

True Lilac…. Daily dose of Puddletom.. lol

      • Isadora says:

Oh, yes, a forum! Then I can finally ask you per PN where you all come from lol *nosy*. Because having Lilac on Hiddleswatch in Boston is great, but maybe there are some other film locations in the future where we need daily reports from? 😀

Daily random Hiddles is needed since we are going to enter a bit of a rough spot now, I guess. The boy scurried away to his tropical mermaid island and High-rise filming starts only in July. So we are probably deprived for weeks…

And I just watched Unrelated in the last two hours (yes, it was in the same parcel as High-rise and TDBS, which I also ordered. Amazon now officially knows of my Hiddles affliction) and ah.. quite some questions. I don’t want reveal any spoilers though, so I’ll just say that I’m very impressed with Baby Hiddles (and Kathryn Worth too). And his character appeared to me a bit different than what I’ve read about him beforehand, but oh well… I’m sure that’s just me.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Isadora, ah yes, baby Tom in Unrelated. Simply glorious. Many thanks to Joanna Hogg for capturing that for us all.

      • Intro Outro says:

Ohh I’m still saving Unrelated and Henry V. I’m afraid we’re indeed in for a long Hiddles-less cinematic stretch before CP and HR come out and I’m keeping Unrelated and Henry V for when my withdrawal symptoms become too acute lol. We will continue Hiddles-bombing Cumby threads then, especially since Cumby seems firmly set on his fame-wh*ring route and I bet we’ll be seeing a lot of Cumby news 😉 Or maybe we’ll expand into Hiddles-jacking Fassy threads? I wouldn’t mind, I actually do think Fassy’s films and roles are more interesting and diverse than Cumby’s.
