Damn, Sparkles is looking good. Robert Pattinson arrived in Cannes a few days ago to promote two back-to-back films. These are all photos from his promotion for The Rover over the weekend, note that I’m including pics of Guy Pearce too (God, I love Guy Pearce). Sparkles’ is promoting Maps to the Stars today, but I’m probably going to wait for that red carpet (which happens tonight) to talk about that. If you want to read a review of Maps to the Stars, go here. They say Rob’s part is underwritten, but hey… he got to work with Cronenberg again, so he considers it a win.
As for The Rover… well, people are saying Rob can actually act! He’s actually getting “some of his best reviews yet,” according to Variety. Unfortunately, The Rover is out of competition at Cannes, which is unfortunate because most of the competition films have received terrible reviews. Something not so nice: Rob is still getting questions about Twilight. Hey, it happens. To his credit, this is how he responded when asked if he would ever go back to the franchise that made his career: “I couldn’t do another ‘Twilight’ movie. I’m too old.”
Seriously… Rob looks really good in these pics, doesn’t he? Kristen Stewart is due in Cannes in a day or two and sources are saying that Rob is flying out by the time she’s coming in. Huh.

I think he looks great there! Good for him on the reviews, I’m glad things are working out for him. As terrible as those Twilight movies were, I didn’t mind him so much.

Of course. He looks really good. The tan and slight extra weight do him wonders. His hair is still too short, though.
Is it just my eyes, or is his hair thinning out? Maybe the reason for the short cut?
I actually prefer him with the shorter hair.
He’s passed his pretty boy prime, and as he settles into his mature”man” face, I think the shorter hair makes his features a bit more interesting. Either way, he looks good.
And Pearce, I can’t wait to see hs performance in The Rover. IMO he doesn’t get enough credit for how fine an actor he is.

The Rover is at 40% on Rottentomatoes at the moment and his performance reviews have been 50-50. Let’s hope it gets better because I’d like to see him succeed.

As much as I like Rob, it is sort of embarassing that Guy Pearce gets so little attention when Rob is around. I have been watching lots of Cannes coverage, and he is literally getting pushed out of the way so people can get to Rob. On the Rover red carpet, the first thing he said to the interviewer is to joke “Sorry I’m not Rob Pattinson” – it’s crazy.
That’s funny cause I was going to say he has Jude Law syndrome in that he’s lost his looks now that he’s hit his late 20s. He also looked weirdly sweaty in the photos I saw on Daily Mail.
Oui. Seriously, he does look great- South of France agrees with him! And face it- he’ll always be asked about T’light, just like Leonard Nimoy gets asked about ST and Harrison Ford is asked about Indiana Jones. And no, not asking for a debate on merits of the films- just that actors tend to be asked about film/acting roles that were/are big.

He’s SO not my type. His face looks a bit like it’s been smashed in and I just can’t with his eyebrows. I never really understood the hype around him, not even during Twilight. I wouldn’t do this guy even if I was single and he was the last man on Earth that wasn’t taken! I’d make a wooden doll instead, paint the face of some hottie on it and pretend it was real.
