Have Amal Alamuddin & George Clooney set the date for a September wedding?

FFN_Alamuddin_Amal_FFUK_051914_51420017

I’ll say something nice about Amal Alamuddin now that I’ve got a better sense of her casual style: she’s not dressing for men. Like, her clothes aren’t all “Look at me, I’m a sexpot/lawyer.” I’m not even sure if she’s dressing for other women like, say, Sarah Jessica Parker. Is Amal that rare woman who only dresses for herself, in clothes that she thinks are cute? That might explain the weird bows and the ugly airplane shoes. Anyway, these are some new photos of Amal out and about in London yesterday. As I suspected, her strength really is businesswear. I like this outfit… except for that necklace. That looks like some cheap plastic Forever 21 stuff.

Anyway, UK sources and US sources are in agreement about something, which probably means none of it is true: everyone is saying that George Clooney and Amal will marry sooner rather than later, and I keep hearing “late summer”… which I guess includes September? The Daily Mail/Hello Mag claimed yesterday that the date being bounced around is September 12. That’s the day after my birthday! I wonder if they’re going to invite me. What would I wear?!

George Clooney and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin are set to marry this September, according to multiple reports. The Gravity star, 53, and the human rights barrister, 36, are expected to be sending “save the date” cards out soon.

“September 12 is the date they are aiming for,” a close friend of Amal told MailOnline. As for the venue, it has been widely speculated that the couple will tie the knot in Lake Como — a favourite holiday spot with George, where the actor owns a lavish, cream-coloured villa that was used to film scenes for Ocean’s Twelve.

However, the insider revealed that this may no longer be the case.

“Everyone thinks they will marry in Lake Como where George owns a beautiful home but Amal feels that is too public,” they said. “They are looking to host a small wedding in an Italian village where they can control the photographers. But they haven’t decided yet.”

[From Hello Mag]

Even the paparazzi would descend on Lake Como to a crazy level if they did it there, I would imagine a Lake Como wedding would be reasonably easy to arrange for Clooney, especially if they wanted to do it at his home. Wouldn’t it be funny if George got married before Jennifer Aniston?! Why do I find that so funny?

I like her style. And I like that she has not changed it now that she is being constantly papped

    • BangersandMash says:

Me too! I like it, it’s very Amal, and I appreciate that.

    • JudyK says:

I LOVE her look…it’s called Class, and that’s something that can’t be bought or learned.

    • zinjojo says:

I do too; she dresses well and it’s interesting. I even love the airport shoes and I definitely have bag envy! Every time she’s papped she has a fantastic bag that works with her outfit.

  2. Suze says:

I’ve really been jonesing for more details – it’s been, what? Two or three days since we heard anything ; )?

Like her work style. I don’t even mind the ginormous necklace.

Honestly, the more I see of this woman the more I think – don’t marry Clooney, girl. Go find a nice, rich, obscure man and marry him. Bag the Hollywood stupidity and baggage – you don’t need it.

    • Dani2 says:

Me too, it’s a great work look 🙂

    • siri says:

Amal actually is used to accompany older, rich men. She was linked to Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google in the past. She organized the launch of his book “The New Digital Age”, and she was also photographed with him at the launch of Limoland in New York last year. So I guess she has been trying that for a while…However, Schmidt is married, and lives in what they call an ‘open marriage’ (I always wonder what the wife really thinks about that, though). Very influential, wealthy man. Amal is not naive, and her mind is razor sharp. If I was a Clooney fan, I’d rather be worried about him, not her.

      • Suze says:

She accompanied an older, rich, married man as recently as last year?

        Well. Hmmm.

This remains one of the oddest Hollywood “romances” I’ve seen.

      • siri says:

@Suze: I don’t want to imply anything, but she already IS part of the circles where you have these powerful players with a lot of money. I would think she’s very good at social networking, so it’s nothing new to her. As for Schmidt, he’s known for his ‘womanizing’, but there simply is no future in that. Could be strictly business and/or connections, since Google had some legal troubles already. Who knows, but I just wanted to clarify that she’s already used to be around ‘those kind’ of men.

      • Aye says:

Apparently he was briefly with Wendi Deng also. I think Amal knows exactly what she’s getting into by dating Clooney. I don’t think she’s all “innocent” about this at all.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Her look brings back the ‘good’ eighties fashion.

  3. Dani2 says:

I actually really like her style here, I like her more work-esque looks, I’d wear it in a heartbeat.

    • Kosmos says:

I agree, her style is very classy, not sexpot attention-grabbing, but very refreshing. But she looks tall and thin, and maybe tight clothing doesn’t even work for her kind of shape. Love her look, very clean and simple, classic lines and accessories.

  4. Bshg says:

Fun fact: Elisabetta Canalis’s birthday is also on September 12. To quote Lainey, “coincidence or conspiracy”? 😄

    • Miss M says:

I came here to say the same when I read about it. Conspiracy! Poor Italian Queen…

  5. Kiddo says:

That necklace is awful. And where’s O’Kitt? She’d have all the details.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think her top is cute, but, yeah, wtf is that necklace?

    • blue marie says:

they look like glow-sticks from baby’s first rave.

      • Kiddo says:

@GoodNamesAllTaken and @blue marie, I think really cheap looking jewelry is a thing now. Kate Upton wore something at an event, I think The Met Gala, that looked like stringed candy. Stupendously hideous. As my grandma used to say, sometimes the designers are just making fun of people, seeing if they will follow a trend, no matter how gawd-awful it is.

      • Snazzy says:

Your grandma is one smart lady

    • mimif says:

Is it Thursday yet? I need to talk to Kitten about vodka immediately. 💩
P.S. I’m buying that necklace for you, Kiddo. I can’t believe it’s not butter.

      • Kiddo says:

What will Franco think? I believe you have another photoshop masterpiece in the making. You know I would just hand it over to him.

      • mimif says:

Ha! I actually wished for a second I could photchop your face onto Amal’s pic. Omg wait…I’ve got it, finally a bit of inspiration. Only problem is I can’t get out of bed. I’m in the hangover hospital, should I tweet you a pic?

      • Kiddo says:

I’m no longer on twitter. I waste enough work time as it is. Can you link it?
Your BF will believe you have completely lost your mind.

      • mimif says:

The bf is gone for the summer! The world is my oyster, which is probably why I’m still drunk.
Not my best work (see above comment) but it was hard to find a good pic of you.

        http://instagram.com/p/oOLjPftlQ6/

**and lol Kiddo I’m not on Twitter either, that was a Miley reference. 😀

      • Kiddo says:

        God(zilla), I look freakin’ gorgeous!!

Also, sorry I missed the joke, I’m not hungover, but I’m in a fog.

      • mimif says:

You’re so sincere…wtf happened to you? Are you having a “nice” day again? Don’t because then I tried to be nice here and then people were mean about it (points finger👆). And I cried. Where’s blue marie I NEED A SONG. (Omg I’m wasted bye)

      • don't_go_there_mer_mer says:

Mimi, thanks for that link. I just laughed out a good part of my left lung.

By the by, has anyone else noticed that Amal has now taken to carrying her purse with her left arm? She aught to be careful, all of that weight is going to make her guns lopsided.

      • blue marie says:

you’re looking lovely this morning Kiddo, the yellow glowsticks really brings out the plaque in your teeth..

        and for you mimi..
Something’s wrong with the world today
I don’t know what it is
        Something’s wrong with our eyes

      • mimif says:

Haha no! Sh-t I cannot be singing that song all day blue marie!

        uoıʇnqıɹʇǝɹ ǝq ןןıʍ ǝɹǝɥʇ

      • Kiddo says:

        @mimif…Risser-frasser, risser-frasser, F*ck, p*ss, Mo..foo%er!!! BItch, BLaf a hUIks.

        Also, this:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDTIB7VGfpo&list=RDKDTIB7VGfpo#t=212

If it wasn’t a Bad Tuesday already, it will be after hearing this song with a hangover.

Also, I WILL Stomp on your village.

      • blue marie says:

you know what song’s been stuck in my head since Saturday?

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

        It will not GET OUT!!

      • mimif says:

@Kiddo What the ever living f-ck why do I feel like I just took ecstasy? Did you see the Godzilla remix? I hate you forever.

@blue marie Just put on Drunk In Love and it will override. I’m still singing that song from last week. LooooOOooove. LoooOoooove…

      • Kiddo says:

@mimif, “why do I feel like I just took ecstasy?” It’s the glow-sticks in my necklace, works nicely with the bad tuesday theme.

  6. blue marie says:

No matter where they have it, with the way it’s been going, I’m sure paps will be there with invitations.

    • Abbott says:

BlueMarie I was just wondering if they’d sell the photos and to whom? I’ll admit, I’m not a big celebrity wedding follower, but I’d buy.

      • blue marie says:

I’m guessing it would be People? Isn’t that who they’ve used so far?

      • Abbott says:

I suppose, but if Blake went to Martha Stewart and Kanye is (alledgedly) going to Vogue, wouldn’t CloonTang have to step it up? Harper’s, Rolling Stone (that would be baller)…

    • Mixtape says:

I don’t really care when or where they have it except that it would be kind of awesome if they suddenly decided to have it this weekend, at his house in Italy, and invite the entire A-List and tip off the paps. Just imagine the look on Kris Jenner’s face as she looks around at all those empty chairs…

      • blue marie says:

        Ha, that would be awesome!

@Abbott.. I just figured with the way he’s trying to play to the masses, People would be the quickest route, but you’re probably right. And hold up.. Kanye is going to Vogue?!? I really need to cancel my subscription.

      • Abbott says:

Mixtape I was just saying that about all the celebs in NOLA this week but was hoping for a Brange wedding 🙂

Blue I thought I read it would be featured in Vogue, but can’t remember where.

  7. 2manycookies says:

She needs more time to come to her senses. Maybe that’s why he’s in such a fury.

  8. PunkyMomma says:

I like her style, too. @Suze – totally agree about she doesn’t need Clooney. Clooney seems, to me, to need a lot of strokes, attention. I really wonder how he’s going to take Amal being the center of attention.

    • Suze says:

Right? Even Keibler managed to get a better husband.

George is really not marriage material. Should have stuck to his original plan of “…never getting married again.”

  9. Sabrine says:

A lovely woman who dresses for herself who will now have to endure snarky comments about everything she does or wears because she is choosing to marry a Hollywood actor. I hope she’s up for it. She’ll also have to now live in a fishbowl with paparazzi trailing her every move. She must figure George is worth it because this will be her life from here on out.

  10. Lauren says:

The looks on her face in every pap shot. Girl is eating this up! She is living for this attention.

  11. serena says:

Lol at the Aniston part. Anyway I call this BS, and until I see and hear the official news that they got married I won’t ever believe it. It’s George we’re talking about.

    • mia girl says:

Yes. This behavior is so out of character and public for him. Strange.

So, I’m of that mind that the whole thing is George’s most elaborate prank yet, meant to lull Tina Fey and Amy Pohler into a false sense of security. They both will be invited to the “wedding” only to find that when they arrive in Lake Cuomo, George and his friends will be waiting to roast the sh*t out of these two women.

    • Christin says:

I think Prince George (the royal baby, not what GC calls himself) will marry before JA.

  12. Hissyfit says:

After all those awful comments on her skull/bow neon top and those terrible shoe sock combo, I bet Clooney’s camp got her a stylist! And it’s doing great, I like her outfit.

As for the wedding, I’m sure the papz will be personally invited just like with their supposedly “private” engagement party and all of the trips they made together as a couple.

  13. DogMom says:

What in listening hell is tethering her head to her iphone? Those are no run of the mill headphones. I’m guessing it’s something only super smart lady lawyers who get engaged to Hollywood stars know about.

And I can’t stand her style or her smug ‘look at me’ smile.

    • Len says:

Why is that a smug smile? I don’t see it. She just seems happy.

      • DogMom says:

Practically everyday she’s been papped in London and IMO her smile looks more smug than happy or ‘smiling at something said on the phone’. Just my opinion and my opinion only but this girl looks like the cat that got the cream.

      • Isadora says:

But isn’t it a good sign? I mean most people here say that George should thank the Lord and all angels that she deigns to be his fiancée. So if SHE thinks George is a jackpot and looks like the cat that got the cream, then I’d say she is really in love and obviously thinks being George’s girlfriend is way cooler than the celebitches here think.

When I’m really in love with a guy and he happens to be my boyfriend, then I look extremely smug all the time lol.

      • Aqua says:

@ Isadora Poor George it does seem like he just can’t win doesn’t it?Clearly she sees something in him otherwise they wouldn’t be engaged. Besides aren’t most people happy when they first get engaged? I know I was. I think it’s the real deal for both of them.

    • Kaya says:

I think you’re reading into it too much 😉

    • Amulla says:

She knows she is being photographed.

  14. Liberty says:

I don’t mind her style. My friends are laughing though at what they call her “precious daughter college wardrobe” —though these looks lately are a bit more adult lawyer. i liked her printed pants and fun shoes, I must admit, for days off. But maybe not together.

The question my little pod has been asking each other on iChat for a week — why haven’t we heard about her past boyfriends? Not Barrister Cutie magazine articles, but, what about her exes? Who were they? What did they do? University dates? Recently?

    • lincoln park after dark says:

I am getting the vibe that she maybe a experienced lawyer, but not too much experience in the dating department. Just because she is 36 years old, doesn’t mean she has had a lot of boyfriends or long term relationships.

  15. magpie says:

I like the necklace, the outfit would be kinda boring without it. And that’s kinda Amal’s thing, taking traditional wear and mixing it up with color and graphics.

  16. Jaded says:

She looks to me like she doesn’t give a rodent’s rectum about what the media says.

  17. minime says:

Well, at least Jennifer Aniston’s relationship has a ring of truth to it, while this one…well, I can only think of instant noddles.

Anyway, as usual, Amal is stunning, she really is and she has a nice choice of working attire.

  18. Dani says:

Her shoe game is as bad as Kate Middleton. Nothing I hate more than two inch heels. Either really wear heels or wear flats. Also, you can buy that entire outfit at Ann Taylor Loft or NY&Co. There’s nothing really special about her outfits, especially when every other business woman in NYC wears a variation of the sort.

    But she has fabulous hair.

    • Coqui says:

I love 2-inch heels. A low (2 inch or lower) chunky heel is the best for walking and for your feet I have heard. If you live in a city where you walk a lot they are essential. I love the confident gait of a women in walking shoes. Dutchess Kate always looks like a Barbie doll in her perma-high heels.

I hated the all-or-nothing heels (towering heels or flat flats) of the last couple of years – happy to see more choices.

    • Aqua says:

I love kitten or low heel shoes because they are the only kind of heel I can wear without falling flat on my face.

  19. zyfoo says:

    i see conchita’s back again!

  20. Aqua says:

I bet you they beat Jennifer/Justine,Brad/Angie and possibly Eric and Jessica to the alter.

  21. jj says:

Oh god, how long is this ho stroll going to last??????? Smile for the cameras, don’t forget to carry a bag with nothing in it and flash that ring for all it’s worth!!! I’m bored already!!!

  22. shellybean says:

I love her professional style, she’s really striking and classy looking, and she has gorgeous hair. But I must say I am already bored hearing about these two. It would be way more exciting to me if he were marrying an A-list movie star.

  23. Ari says:

In some ways she reminds me of a budget Angelina? Is anyone else thinking this? the humanitarian thing, the slenderness, the hair, the wonky clothing at times (not dressing for men as the article stated but for herself) etc etc I could go on all day about this lol

    • Madi says:

I don’t think she is a budget Angelina Jolie at all. She isn’t in the wannabe but just donate money looking woefully at the world chair, she is sitting in the doing something about it chair, she is very much on par with Angie in that respect.

People say how intelligent George is but I would have paid huge amounts of money just to have been a fly on the wall of the White House when she was introduced to President Obama. Can you imagine the conversation

GC:”I’d like to introduce you to my girlfriend/fiancée (not sure what she was then) Amal. She is a human rights lawyer”
BO: “Oh, hello, your name sounds familiar, have we met”
AA: “Well no, not personally, but we will be talking soon, real soon”
Aides rush to his side and whisper “Mr President, she is on the drone council. You know the UN inquiry to us killing a lot of civilians including children.”
BO: “Oh, is that the time, I must be going, I have something very important to do that I forgot about”
GC: “He’s great isn’t he. He is my bestist bud apart from Brad. I am sure you will be seeing a lot of him”
AA: “Hmmm, yes, I bet I will be seeing a lot of him”

    • Nibbi says:

I think so too actually. I even think he’s aiming for that with her, which makes me feel like a terrible person, tho

  24. Diana says:

Love the clothes. Her hair is seriously tdf

  25. frisbeejada says:

Good to see the business plan going ahead smoothly – including her change of image – every day before our very eyes – nicely done that…professional

  26. ickythump says:

A lot of human rights lawyers in th UK seem to spend most of their time keeping terror suspects from being deported to face trial so I am not feeling th love for this lady thou tbh I dont know anything abot her so maybe im judging too harshly – I doubt this is th real deal thou – looks like PR to me – gives gc more political clout and lays his playboy image to rest, gives her a huge profile – defo looks like she loves th attention, but maybe im just an old cynic.

    • siri says:

I actually feel the same about her. As much as the argument that any person , even war criminals, or terror suspects, have the right to an attorney is correct, you still can make the personal choice not to defend them. If you do, however, you are in for the sake of the law itself, not for justice. But, of course, she’s working for a firm to make money, not to exercise her morals. I truly wonder how George is looking at this. As for this wedding, I regard it as a huge PR stunt, and as very calculated from both sides. Clooney needed an image polish, and he knows he’s getting older. To that, add the lukewarm reception of his latest movie, the joke from Poehler/Fey as well as from Stephen Fry at the Bafta’s, his health troubles, and the fact that most of his friends are married with kids- and you have a belated midlife crisis 🙂 And Amal might have her professional accomplishments, but her personal life so far seemingly mostly took place at the home she shares with her mother. I might be wrong, but I simply see this as a convenient move for both. And I expect them to “work together on projects” in the future.

  27. Daffy says:

New info from Clooney’s PR team (it was long) : Matt Damon will be his best man.

    • whoozy says:

Don’t be silly, gc can’t be more than a few feet away from rande g or he gets the shakes. If blind gossip item today is is even close, he and Amalrexia better do it quick, before the singer starts. As far as the human rights bond, she’s a defense lawyer plain and simple and his last pics were picking up a check in China for showing up at a corp party..so very Kardashian on both ends.

  28. Jayna says:

A week or two ago I read they are marrying then because she’s on leave from work as far as full-time and he wanted to marry before she returned to work and was really busy. So it makes sense to me. I see late August, September. It does seem like she’s taken quite a bit of time off from work. I guess it’s different over there in the UK, because you would never see a lawyer take the amount of time off she has taken off if the report is true about going back to work in the fall. Who knows with these stories, though. Only half are true about them probably.

  29. Suki2 says:

George or no George (indifferent) I am following this story because I am practically jonesing for photos of stylish women with educations and professions. I’ll take (staged) photos of this lawyer in a trench coat over any model/TV host/socialite/WAG on a red carpet. It’s just more interesting when someone looks great if they haven’t devoted their whole life to doing so.

  30. Amulla says:

I wonder if they want to have kids. Clooney has said he is not interested in having them.
