Katherine Heigl on the diva gossip: ‘It’s a business & those sort of stories sell’

I don’t think Katherine Heigl’s grand return to television is going as planned. Instead of being asked touchy-feely questions about how she’s feeling and what she’s wearing, Katherine is being asked, point-blank, about her attitude problems, her foot-in-mouth problems and her biggest problem of all: her momager. Heigl is being asked about all of that repeatedly as she tries to promote her new NBC show State of Affairs, even when she’s only speaking to one of the “nicer” outlets like Entertainment Tonight. You can see the video here.

I like how you can see the anger flash in her eyes just for half a second before she pushes it away and answers the question. You know she wanted to bitch out the ET reporter. PEASANT! When asked about the bad press that has followed her around for years now, Heigl said: “I’m not going to tell you that it doesn’t hurt my feelings. I’m not going to say that there aren’t times that I wonder if they’re all right, and I’m all wrong, but I’ve also realized that it is a business and those sort of stories sell.” You know what she’s saying, right? She’s saying that she still thinks everybody who criticizes her is a hater and a troll and that she’s committed to being the same diva she’s always been.

Personally, I cannot wait. I cannot wait for all of the stories about her tantrums and fits on the show. I cannot wait for producers to realize what a huge mistake they’ve made.

    That’s nice. lalalalala

But do tell, how difficult is Choupette to work with (referring to the photo and link above)? I bet she has her claws out all the time. Maybe even a hissy fit now and then. I imagine catty-remarks on fashion, as an aside. The fur must fly!

Her mother – UGH! I just can’t with either of them but the mother works my last nerve. And what about her husband? You never see or hear about him. I guess he stays home with their girls. I really feel sorry for him but he had to know what he was getting into. Katherine really blew it when she left Grey’s.

Well the hubby has been effectively spayed and neutered. I’m just wondering when he will wake up and leave and take the girls with him. You know she is raising those sweet babies to act just like her and her mommy.

I loved NBC’s answer that they have a codependent relationship. I’m waiting for NBC to blow a gasket after the umpteenth Heigel fit.

Ha ha, I am anticipating GREAT things!!! And I’m not talking about her show.

She’s trying to put out a raging inferno with a garden hose if she thinks her excuses for all these stories will wash. She’s trying I suppose hee hee hee,,,,,, TRY HARDER!!! Or as the lingo goes (try) smarter not harder. Just be nice.

I would watch a reality show with her and her mommy over this faux Homeland rehash. Someone put a camera on them. The drama they would cause!

  4. Josefa says:

I can’t wait either. Totally done with her. The only thing worse than her attitude is her taste in movies.

Find another diva actress, Hollywood. Even hating on this one started getting boring a long while ago.

  5. RobN says:

You’d think that when the people you actually work with, not the tabloids, don’t want to work with you again, that that would tell you something about yourself.

  6. HappyMom says:

Reading about what a wench she and her mom have been through the years “hurts her feelings?” So she’s basically saying they’re made up stories.

  7. Bridget says:

That show already has 2 strikes: its on NBC and Joe Carnahan is exec producing. Add in Heigl and her mother, and it doesn’t bode well for quality.

    • Algernon says:

Joe Carnahan trying to get along with Heigl and Mom-Heigl could be a reality show unto itself.

  8. Eleonor says:

She is a woman in her thirties? Forties? I think we can stop using the “momager” thing . She’s a grown woman and makes her own decision, there are stories of celebrities firing their parents, she approves what her mum does, end of story.

The Bluth family said it best:

  10. RavenClaw says:

Her relationship with her mother is completely weird and unhealthy. Your mother shouldn’t be your best and only friend! She’s married and still spends more time with that woman than anyone else. What’s going to happen when her mother dies??!

    • holly hobby says:

Katherine has siblings. There’s a sister and another brother somewhere. The sister used to be photographed with them but no longer. How much you want to bet the sister’s husband broke her free from that relationship?

  11. Hautie says:

Ummmm… seems like I read a item, on CDAN, that stated that the Mother had already been banned from being on the set…. of the new show.

Sadly, Heigl is determined to be “right”. That her lack of career opportunities, is not her fault for letting her Mother run her entire life. If Heigl had a half competent manager and agent… her career would have not gotten to this point.

Where the only reason anyone wants to talk to her now… is to ask about the rude ass Mother. Who killed her career.

I recall Brooke Shields had the same exact issue. Crazy, loud and rude Mother who ran her entire life. Behaved badly on any job Brooke was booked for… Thankfully Brooke realize she needed to end the business relationship.

Then it still required years, to get her footing again. And Brooke is a not known as a complete pill. Unlike Heigl.

    • kri says:

Can you imagine being married to her and the mother? I’d give the man a medal, but I’m afraid she would just find a way to make a shank and use it on the crew of the show.

    • holly hobby says:

Brooke was always known to be nice so that’s the difference. Brooke fired her mother after she hooked up with Andre Agassi. I think there was an interview on People somewhere where she said he helped her see what was wrong with her career.

Her hubby must be a real nice and patient man. I feel sorry for him.

  12. Mrs McCubbins says:

    Her face is huge!

  13. holly hobby says:

Wow that is going against her recent magazine interview where she wanted to be a farmer and has turned over a new leaf isn’t it? Diva stories may sell but there has to be some truth to it or it’s a libel case. Katie, if you think those stories are fake, why aren’t you suing the media like you did to that drug store? It’s because the stories are true!

I hope the crew leaves en masse as a sort of protest the minute her and mommy dearest pitch a hissy fit.

  14. Dany says:

i´ve seen an interview with her where she talks about her adoptive kids and how hard it was to optain their trust. She was honest about her feelings and doubts. I respect that. Not everyone would talk about this so open. She came across very well.

She should fire the mother and go for a real manager. Mother and daughter seem to have a very unhealthy realationship. Seems they drive each other crazy. Would my mother be with me every second and manage my life and job… oh my i would go mad.

  15. The Original G says:

    Her mother should resign.

Sorry, she’s a mid level talent with mid level movies. She’s even a mid-level diva.

  16. Ice Queen says:

Someone’s desperate. What did you think was gonna happen?

  17. Lucinda says:

I watched the interview and I think she is just unaware. She strikes me as a very confident woman who knows what she wants and doesn’t realize she rubs everyone the wrong way. (Or conversely so insecure that she feels she needs to fight for validation but still doesn’t realize she is her own worst enemy.) It’s too bad because I’m always impressed by how she carries herself and how well-spoken she is. I know that doesn’t mean she is a good person. But I suspect she may be oblivious rather than intentionally cruel.
