America Ferrera at the Tribeca film festival

America Ferrera was gorgeous at the world premiere of her new film, Hacia La Oscuridad or “Towards Darkness” at the Tribeca Film Festival last night. She wore a simple black empire waist tank dress accented by gold hoop earrings and bangle bracelets. I love her loose, natural looking hair. It’s not overdone or too messy and her entire look is carefree and elegant.

America wanted to get out of revising her part in a sequel to the chic flick Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. She’s now in a hit TV series and would like to move on with her career, but producers are trying to force Ferrera along with co-stars Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel, to adhere to their contract requirements and make the sequel:

Ferrera is reported to be obligated by contract to wear the “Pants” role once again, and Access Hollywood reports “she’s apparently not very happy about it.”

Forced negotiations are on the table for Ferrera to reprise her role in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film’s producers are exercising a clause in the contract to bring Ferrera back for a sequel, along with co-stars Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively.

Ferrera’s new film Hacia La Oscuridad is a serious one about a kidnapped hostage and his family’s fight to save him. It’s a world away from Sisterhood. The 2005 film was well received, though, and if the follow-up is written and executed well it should only boost Ferrera’s career.
