Gwyneth Paltrow did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in a bikini: cute or try-hard?

Of course Gwyneth Paltrow wore a bikini for her ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Of course she did. Most people have been wearing clothes but Goop had to show off her Body By Tracy Anderson for her challenge. Maybe I’m just mad because the people who should be taking off their clothes (Tom Hiddleston, etc) have not been taking anything off. Goop nominated Chris Martin, Stella McCartney and Cameron Diaz too. Blah. Also, I don’t think it should count if you run away mid-ice-water-pour.

As for what Gwyneth has been up to lately… as we keep hearing (I swear I did this story last week), sources say that Beyonce has been leaning on Gwyneth and learning how to consciously uncouple like a boss:

That’s what friends are for! Beyonce, whose marriage to rapper Jay Z has been on the rocks the past few months, has asked Gwyneth Paltrow for divorce advice, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

The “Crazy in Love” singer “has sought Gwyneth Paltrow’s advice as she plans her split,” the insider says. Multiple sources tell Us that Queen Bey, 32, and Jay, 44, will separate in the fall, after completing their On The Run tour dates. See pics of Beyonce and Jay Z fighting the divorce rumors.

Blue Ivy’s mom is planning for the breakup to echo the Goop founder’s amicable “conscious uncoupling” from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the first source says.

“The day after the announcement, Bey and Jay will be spotted together,” adds the insider. “The two will be all lovey-dovey.”

Earlier in the month, while in town for their Los Angeles shows, Beyonce stopped by Paltrow’s Brentwood home. Last year the singer gushed about the Oscar winner, calling her “incredible” and a “great friend on every level.”

[From Us Weekly]

Am I the only one who is tired of the whole “consciously uncoupled” thing at this point? It’s not even funny to me in a cheesy, silly way. It’s just stupid. I’m sure there are many couples who manage to remember the love and stay friendly because of the kids, but as we continue to see with Gwyneth’s jumpoff and Chris Martin’s new girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, there are always going to be hurt feelings. You’ve gotta let that sh-t out or you’ll give yourself an ulcer.

Last thing, regarding Beyonce – Tina Knowles told TMZ that “Haters are going to hate, there’s nothing we can about that. Everything’s perfect,” when asked about Beyonce and Jay.

She did it. Not going to shade her for how she did it. She participated and good for her.

    • Sammy says:

She has the weirdest speaking voice. It’s part snob part forever valley girl. She’s a 40 year old woman who sounds forever over it.

    • mimif says:

Good sport, I will follow your lead (and secretly snark on the inside).

    • Adrien says:

True, eliza. I shall never criticize anyone doing something for a good cause.

      • bettyrose says:

I snarked a little, but the good cause is bringing awareness to ALS. The bikini is just gravy.

    • kcarp says:

But the point of the ice bucket is if you aren’t donating money. Personally I think it would benefit ALS more if she wrote a check. What if she took the cost of a bucket of virgin princess tears which I am sure is what she used to pour over herself and wrote a check instead?

I feel like these people are really just jumping on a trend for attention.

      • kcarp says:

I should shut up until I read the whole thing. I see she did donate money.

      • Fue McCormick says:

Actually, they are donating the money AS WELL AS getting dumped with ice water. The “challenge” has just been incredibly screwed up and still confuses people. The only one who hasn’t screwed it up is Charlie Sheen who, yes, with theatrics, dumped $10k on his head and said he would donate the money. Jon Cryer accepted 2 challenges, Charlies, (and I forget who the 2nd person was) and he had 2 buckets dumped on him: 1 with ice water; the 2nd with $10k.
As a Californian I’m a bit offended by the dumping of water due to the drought (and I’ve cut back on water usage) but it’s for a good cause, I guess. I haven’t sought out any “ice bucket challenge” videos (just run across a few) and I don’t plan to donate to ALS because my charities are for animals and Diabetes. Apparently they’ve raised over $8m so far so good for them.

  2. mia girl says:

Gah! She even manages to be annoying doing a charitable act.

  3. Lydia says:

You just knew she’d do it in a swimsuit. *eye roll*

    She lacks a waist.

    • Abbott says:

If I had a body like that I’d probably show the internet my abs and chichis. Other celebs, like Katy Perry, did their challenges in bikinis. I can’t believe I’m defending Paltrow, but here we are… GOOP-a-LOOP! Show us what you’re working with!

      • Diana says:

Omg!!! “Goop a loop” was the first thing that popped into my mind when I clicked on the story! Hahaha

    • MaiGirl says:

She’s fit, but I’m not impressed by her body. Everything about her is Wonder Bread, thinking it’s herbed focaccia. She’s the anti-Jolie, in my opinion.

  4. Jenns says:

She should have nominated Jennifer Lawrence…

    • Jaderu says:

Oh that would have been awesome.
The internet would have imploded on itself.

    • PunkyMomma says:

      That’s cold. And funny.

    • mimif says:

      Boom. I love it.

    • OhDear says:

Watch, Chris Martin will do it and *he* nominates Lawrence.

    • Talie says:

I would’ve loved her forever if she did that!

    • FLORC says:

      Jenns
      That would have been amazing!
And a great way for her to give a nod to her ex moving on and she’s fine with it. It’s not bad she didn’t, but it would have been great if she did.

I think Chris Martin might do it with Jlaw pouring the water. Or the rest of Coldplay. Or his kids. I like option #1 the best 🙂

  5. Frida_K says:

I’m reluctant to be overly snarky about other people’s bodies but Goop puts herself out there in such a way that invites commentary.

    So.

She does not look fit and she is sort of shapeless. She’s a skinny-flabby. Just because she’s thin doesn’t make her fit. If what’s there is mostly flab and little muscle tone, then … meh. Tracy Anderson is doing her no favors, and on so many levels, too.

    Meh.

    • Sammy says:

She was sooooo hot after she had moses and was carrying around an extra 15 lbs.

    • Sarah says:

She has no muscle tone. That’s so bizarre for someone who is such a health and exercise nut. Fwiw, I have massive shoulders and runner legs but my thighs still touch. I win.

    • Marty says:

I think she’s got a good figure for 40. That being said, if I’m paying those Tracy Anderson trainning sessions and doing that crazy ass elimination diet, I want my body to look like Jessica Biel’s.

      • mystified says:

Exactly! She has the figure of any health conscious woman in her 40’s who works out at her local YMCA 3 times per week. But she spends gobs of money, starves herself, and wastes two hours a day on the Tracy Anderson prgram. She seems to be wasting her time and money and even her health.

    • Esmom says:

I have to respectfully disagree, I think she looks about as fit as she can be considering her age and the fact that she’s not an elite athlete. I’m a little older than her and work out diligently, my teenage son has been putting me through brutal hikes for months, and I’d be happy to look as fit as she does.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        +1, esmom

She’s 41. She looks amazing, period.

      • sigh((s)) says:

I think she looks good, she just doesn’t have much of a shape. She’s kind of straight up and down. Everyone has a different body shape, not gonna shade her for that. That’s about the only thing, though…

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

Yeah, not everyone is an hourglass, so I don’t judge her for that. I will say she does look quite thick in the middle though, I think it’s probably actually the bulk of the muscle, because when she was younger she did not look like that (I know kids change your shape), but Tracy Anderson has this same middle, I find it a little masculine looking but I’d be shocked if there’s any real flab on her.

    • FLORC says:

Great for admitting the mistake, but i’m not sure how the 2 got mixed up.

Also, I’m thin and athletic. I have a bit more fat on me than gwyneth, but it all vanishes after a workout. The muscles swell and you become visably more tone.
Preworkout I look very untoned, but i’m still fit.

  6. fairyvexed says:

That’s….her bikini body? I’d want my money back. That’s what the occasional cheeseburger is good for, Gwynnie.

  7. Aussie girl says:

Of course she did it in a bikini. Anything to deflect if the rumours of Chris boning J law. Buuuut in saying that even if that wasn’t happening she would probably still do it in a bikini, in the hamptons riding a Vespa.

  8. lunchcoma says:

I’ll let it slide, because this is pretty much the opposite of how Gwyneth tries to portray herself when she’s doing the trying to hard thing. I suspect it has more to do with her being prissy about getting her clothes wet.

    • FLORC says:

Isn’t this her new thing? Pre divorce she was on her foodie/workout high horse. Then not long after the divorce went public she raved about eating from a food truck. This is her image rehab I think. Being more laid back enjoying those preservatives. I read it as rebranding or reaching a larger demo.

  9. Jaderu says:

Good for you Gwyneth! Say the same thing I did yesterday on the Zoe Saldana post. At least she did it. ALS got some more moolah. All that matters.

  10. bettyrose says:

That’s one flat belly. A weird diet and genetic gift have worked out nicely for her.

  11. Abbott says:

I’m slowly changing my gossip and snarking affiliation to Team GOOP. I’m actually feeling sympathetic toward her and Chris is looking like he’s in the midst of a mid-life crisis a la Johnny Depp. Sorry Martin Lawrence. Ya clipped.

    • Jaderu says:

      “snarking affiliation”.
      LOOOOOOOOL Love this!

    • Allie says:

The difference between Depp and Martin is that Depp/Heard love the attention. Whereas you wouldn’t have even known Martin/Lawrence were dating if not for the recent story. I don’t think its a mid life crisis, the age difference isn’t that bad and they both seem quiet about their love life.

      • annaloo. says:

Wait, how old is Chris Martin? He’s not as old as Johnny Drop right? Therein lies the difference, I think….

      • FLORC says:

        Depp 51
        Martin 37
        Heard 28
        Lawrence 24

        Depp/Heard difference 23
        Martin/Lawrence difference 13

        P.S.
1st runthrough reading the comment I thought, Why are we discussing Martin Lawrence?

    • SpookySpooks says:

I think Chris and Goop had an open realtionship or they consciously uncoupled years ago and just stayed married for appearances. I think they’re genuinely friends now.

Also, I think she was really cute in the video.

      • Bobbiesue says:

I agree. I think they are friends, they are close and they are open. They each know about the other’s lovers, whatever. I don’t think Goop is upset about JLaw and, if anything, they all worked together with their PR to make things look okay for Goop. This has actually been well orchestrated since the Vanity Fair debacle.

    • Hawkeye says:

It’s a strange feeling eh? Like the world makes a little less sense but you can’t help it!

    • Bobbiesue says:

I think that was the intention and it absolutely worked. Chris or Huvane or all them together are working to rehab Goop’s image. She would have been fried by this latest Falchuk rumor. Now look, Chris is getting the heat. Well played PR.

  12. OhDear says:

It’s good that she did it, no, bikini or not. And damn, people. That’s just the way she’s built (thin and beanstalk-like).

  13. QQ says:

This woman is whatever the opposites of color/warm/sexy/Fun … Is Like.. the embodiment of Upper East Side in Winter

  14. Mzizkrizten says:

I’ve seen a few memes showing people in water-deprived countries alongside people ‘wasting’ water on this ice bucket challenge. Thoughts?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It is wasting water. It’s hard to balance that against the $23 million (last count I saw) raised, though. I don’t know what I think.

      That was helpful, wasn’t it?

    • Sisi says:

Zoe Saldana, Ben Affleck, and Robert Downey jr were filmed near or in swimming pools, yet these people are blindly pointing at the bucket writing allcaps kanye rants (seen on other sites) about water wastage. Makes me think it’s not about the water at all, they need something to yell about.

I might be wrong though, but it does look kinda stupid.

    • Lady Macbeth says:

That is nonsense. The whole world wastes tons and tons of gallons of water every day. And it is really laughable people commenting on a celebgossip sites pretending celebrities don’t waste a bucket of water for a charity thing whilst they waste God-knows-how-many gallons of water to fill their pools.
      That is reversed hypocrisy.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah, it’s true that so much water gets wasted when we just take a shower and we’re pretty much all wasting water all the time.

I just think they could have done something else. There are SO many wacky things they could have done without dumping ice water all over the place. It’s sort of insulting when 8 million Ethiopians are at immediate risk due to draught.

The challenge originated in Boston and my hometown where many locals are good friends with Pete Frates so basically everyone I know has done the challenge. I donated but I won’t be wasting water, sorry folks.

      • Lady Macbeth says:

Yeah they could have chosen something else, true. But given the success of the whole thing among celebrities, should we spoil the charitable side of it for a bucket of water each? I probably waste the same amount of water to top my cat’s bowl up every day.
I hope celebs have also donated, but even if they didn’t they probably made lots of people aware about the cause worldwide… I wouldn’t know what ALS even meant without Tom Hiddleston’s video, that prompted my curiosity and us donating (and no water wasted….)

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah ITA with what you’re saying about the positivity of donating to charity, but I think you can applaud that aspect while being critical of the vehicle that they used to donate. Eh. I’m not going to harp too much on it, I just think maybe they should try something different in the future.

      • Bobbiesue says:

How about the broken pipe under Sunset Blvd that burst in July?? They lost 10,000,000 gallons of water in LA or 1,000 gallons per minute. There are much bigger problems than people taking an ice bath for charity. A lot of celebs doing it are not in California either.

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Could not agree more, I think it’s just dumb.

      • QQ says:

Hmm i think you guys finally pointed towards why this whole thing has seemed both studio/pointless/weirdly attentionwhory/ self aggrandizing or whatevsto me like ive just had this hinky/eyerolly feeling about it and I havent been able to put my finger on why? (I think I asked yesterday I think about what was the point of this) It’s cause I’m from Venezuela (parents from DR) where in both places we LIVE in water shortage/deprivation constantly we have to keep conserving water, catching rainwater, showering at certain times of the day, Boiling water for usage and keeping it in drums/tanks etc to ensure we don’t go without so this just seems super nonsensical and wasteful

      • Hausfrau says:

        Also, droughts are for peasants.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        Yep, QQ.

        @Hausfrau-LOL!

      • Lady Macbeth says:

        @QQ

I come from a country where in my childhood we could have a bath (during the summer) once a week, and me and my bro using the same water. Mum always boiled water before using it. Water was also on for twice a day (for two hours) and empty taps the rest of the day. When we used to have those summers where fires were common daily news, fire rescue helicopters had to fly to the sea to get water.
Three decades later I found myself in a country where you can use endless gallons of water to wash your car or water your garden.
Sorry I only wanted to point out that your comparison was a bit ‘out of touch’ and it sounded (to the point of being not ‘politically correct’) as nonsense.

Because Tom Hiddleston using a bucket of water for charity can’t compensate people in Ethiopia dying of thirst, sorry for being blunt.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I don’t think that QQ was saying that if people didn’t dump water in the Ice Bucket Challenge, that Venezuela would have an endless supply of water, just that people in Venezuela (and other countries who suffer from a water shortage) might find it a bit obnoxious to see Americans dumping water like it’s nothing.

        The details:

“To put the waste this campaign has caused into simple terms, let’s just assume everyone is using a five gallon bucket. Now multiply that number by the more than 1.2 million videos shared on Facebook since June 1. Based on that assumption (5 x 1,200,000), over 6 million gallons of water have been poured out in the name of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The average American household uses 320 gallons per day, which means that based on this estimation, nearly 19,000 homes’ daily water usage has been wasted. And that’s not even taking into account that videos posted online often depict multiple people, sometimes even entire sororities or fraternities, taking part in the ice bucket challenge, often using more than one bucket per video.”

Carole King did something cool and stood in a stream and dumped the water over her head and back into the stream.

Also, whatever happened to putting the focus on the charity and not on the donor?

I don’t know….if anything, I hope that this challenge spurs people to “adopt” this charity and donate every year.
Myself? I have a small handful of charities (all animal-related) that I donate to every year. They are charities I TRUST so I know where my money is going and I don’t need to make a video about it to show everyone that I’m donating.

      • Macey says:

I agree and am glad its bringing awareness and donations. However, me being the cynic I am, I am really wondering how all this money is going to be handled. I never jump on the brand wagon of any of these viral things b/c after all the attention has died down, you find out yrs later that all that money went to Admin, exorbitant CEO salaries, etc. and very little went to the cause it was promoting ex.. Haiti, Katrina, 9/11 and many others.

Idk, hopefully some good comes out of it b/c I still see very little mention of ALS, its been nothing but a bunch of vids and then that person calling out more people, more like a viral game than anything. Like I said, the money is nice but who knows at this point what they’ll do with it. I never trust corp. charities.

      • lucy2 says:

I think the awareness and money raised is fantastic (this one viral campaign has more than doubled what they brought in for ALL of last year) and it’s generally happening in areas without shortages, but I could see how anyone in a drought area, struggling country with poor infrastructure, etc, could look at it and be a little disgusted by how easily we can take things like clean water for granted.

ALS is reporting over $40 million in donations (more than double their entire 2013 income). It may be a bit “look at me!” by celebrities and pretty much everyone on facebook, but it sure is effective.

      • Lady Macbeth says:

        @ TOK

I understand what you both meant, but even with the worst outcome, it is the “display of wasting water” that annoyed people, not the effective gallons wasted in doing that. My neighbour in Scotland used to wash his car every two days, he probably wasted more water in one year that all the British actors and entertainers did together for the icebuckect challenge.

I apologise I am not very good at expressing what I want to say sometimes, but my point was the one above. A friend of my mum’s went to live to Venezuela (Caracas) and I visited her in the late 1990s. They had fountains, pond and a pool. I asked her if they felt guilty considering the poverty all around. She said she couldn’t care less. So that even happens in the same country, it doesn’t really matter if Americans or people of other countries waste water, at least it was done for a charitable cause. Hopefully next time… They will use sand or something else.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Fair enough, Lady MacBeth and we certainly don’t have to agree on it.

Honestly, I wish they would do the ice bucket challenge on my patio. I have fresh plantings that really need it! We’ve had a really dry (and lovely, really) summer in Massachusetts 😉

    • Esmom says:

It’s a good point but I tend to think the concern trolling about wasting water is more sour grapes about one cause getting a ton of attention than real distress about people wasting water.

And in Goop’s case at least I wouldn’t doubt if her water was lovingly collected from the ethically sourced and constructed rain barrels she could probably sell you for a mere $1,000 a pop.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

For some people it could be sour grapes, but I surround myself with people who are genuinely concerned about the environment–it’s real for them.
The difference is that they find a way to tackle the water-wasting issue without being rude or diminishing the positive aspect of donating, versus those that dismiss their concerns as “h8ters” or “trolling”.

No matter what side of the issue you are on, I think we can agree that donating is nice but donating without wastefulness is even nicer.

And lol @ your last paragraph 😉

      • Esmom says:

TOK, I don’t in any way mean to dismiss those who care about the environment, we need many more of them if there is any hope for our planet’s future. But those internet memes just don’t strike me as coming from anyone who is genuinely interested in conservation or the environment, they seem to be people who are merely jealous of the attention the ice water challenge is getting and jumped on the angle of wasting water as a way to degrade that campaign. That’s all I meant to say.

      • FLORC says:

        Esmon
        Concern trolling, indeed!
If people are truly so concerned they can donate to a charity that helps those who have limited access to clean water. Or they can just complain about it which appears to be the case.

        Broader statement
People don’t donate quietly just because it’s something good to do. They need a gimmick. Something to benefit them. And dumping some cold water in summer time on their heads seems like a win all around.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

@esmom-I realized afterwards that you may have thought my comment was in reference to you and it wasn’t at all!
I was referring to the people who are fighting on my FB feed about it. There are people who genuinely care who seem to handle it better than those that seek to defend the water-dumping because they wanted to make a cute video. The latter are the ones who seem to get really defensive and angry about it. I never meant to insinuate that *you* were one of those people.

@FLORC-I left details about how much water was wasted (19,000 households for one day) so it’s not completely irrelevant. But yes, I think it’s a sad commentary on our society that people need a gimmick to donate but even if that’s what they need, there are a million other ideas that would be just as “gimmicky” without the waste. Or how about the people who dump the water pledge to either reuse it or skip a shower that day?

There are just too many simple ways to off-set the waste but people are too caught up in their own 4 minutes of internet fame to be bothered to think about that aspect of it. I don’t know…I’ve already commented more on the issue than I intended to so I guess I’ll just leave it at that.

      • FLORC says:

        Agree TOK
Sad that we need a reason to donate outside of a good cause and helping others. That it’s not in the front of our minds already.

I get your point. It’s wasteful and also showing an indulgent lifestyle. We waste so casually. Makes me think of that hunger games scene where the capital folks offer peeta something to induce vomiting to make room for more food.
I could nit pick away at this. I’m at the point where i’m going to sigh and say it could be worse. It’s raising for a good cause.

    • Mzizkrizten says:

Maybe the next viral campaign can be dumping buckets of nothing on your head and then donating to water organizations.

  15. Sisi says:

well it’s good that she named the website and said she was going to donate. With the celebrity icewater tag game the whole donation for a good cause part seemed to get a bit lost imo. So I’m not going to snark on her. She did well.

  16. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Good for her for donating, good for ALS for raising all this money – seriously, that’s what matters. Keep it up.

But God, I’m sick of this thing and this is the last one I’ll click on. It was a great idea, it worked, so don’t yell at me. Go everybody, but it’s boring the crap out of me.

  17. Hmmm says:

    ^^^^ Word^^^^

  18. bns says:

    My comment mysteriously disappeared. Hmm….

It’s funny that when guys do the ALS challenge with their shirts off it’s considered hot, but when Gwyneth does hers in a bikini she’s trying too hard and people are criticizing her body. I know this is a gossip site, but c’mon.

  19. Bubulle says:

I don’t think she is trying hard at all, she is donating money and raising awareness for a good cause , she looks like she is having fun, nothing wrong with that.

  20. Pam says:

Did not see one cube of ice coming out of that bucket

  21. fairyvexed says:

Poor T.H., not taking his shirt off. I suspect that he gets intimidated by what’s supposed to be the paragon of male loveliness—–guys like Hemsworth—-, but his shoulders are the same width, he’s just slender everywhere else. And it looks quite appealing but men have to be huge to be manly while women have to disappear.

  22. Sozual says:

Yeah, when I saw it I thought bikini. Come on!

  23. lunchcoma says:

Sigh. I don’t mind the bikini, but Lainey has apparently decided to describe Goopy, Chris Martin, Cameron Diaz and Stella McCartney as the “top level” of celebrities. I think she’s letting her fixation on G get in her way of assessing her career. None of these people are George Clooney-Julia Roberts level.

    • Green Girl says:

I think GOOP is like a B+ celebrity (her Oscar gives her a permanent kind-of-top status, right?). The people you mentioned are like the cool high school juniors who sometimes get to sit with the MUCH cooler high school seniors of Roberts and Clooney.

I don’t mind the bikini either, and I definitely buy the theory that she just didn’t want to get her clothes wet. But I think it looks a little weird to name your ex in light of recent reports about him dating J-Law.

      • lunchcoma says:

Yeah, toward the top of the B list seems about right, and that mostly because of her past status. She hasn’t done anything but Pepper Potts in Marvel movies in years, and her next movie is what looks like a small part in that terrible-looking new Johnny Depp film. I wouldn’t consider her circle to be all that rarified when assessing gossip, though.

I think the Martin thing was to show she’s not upset, which is reasonable enough.

      • Green Girl says:

I was JUST thinking “What top films has she been in lately?” Besides Iron Man, I don’t think she’s had a hit film where she starred for years.

      • lunchcoma says:

Contagion’s the last one where she had a big role, Green Girl, and that was several years ago.

    • SuePerb says:

I think it has been building up to the bigger celebs. Nicole Kidman just done it and nominated Colin Firth and Russell Crowe. Benedict Cumberbatch has one coming online soon too apparently

  24. A. Key says:

She’s kinda built straight up and down, like an ironing board.

  25. Jules says:

Yeah, sure it’s for a good cause…but c’mon it’s also calculated on Gwenyths part. Rumors of her estranged husband dating a 24 year old actress…and not just any actress but Jennifer Lawrence?. So, that GP can prove that in spite of it all, she’s still chic and fabulous. And manipulative. Stevie Huvane is earning his paycheck that’s for sure. All in an effort to deflect attention away from the fact that her new jump off was still very much married when she hooked up with him.

  26. Luciana says:

She has the body and attitude to rock that bikini so why not?

  27. Cora says:

I got a kick out of Vin Diesel’s Ice Bucket Challenge. He nominated Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie, and Putin!

  28. Leaflet says:

Gwyneth didn’t have ice cubes, lol. It was probably cold water though. I saw up thread that some were sort of disappointed with Gwyn’s body, but I think it looks nice. Yeah, she pays a lot of money to keep it up but she probably kinda fell off the horse a bit with the divorce and all. You know, maybe ate healthy and did yoga but not any real strength training exercises. Somehow, I believe that she is a fun loving person and we kind of see that a bit right here. These are beginning to be boring though, lol. Yet, I will watch Bosseni’s on repeat because his wasn’t mundane in any way. There was even a bit of a clothed man -kinni crotch shot. It was funny.

    • Jayna says:

Her body is in good shape. It’s just that she has no waist, is straight down to her hips. It’s a wide waist with boxy hips, not curves, and so is never going to look spectacular in a bikini. It’s just the way she’s built. Exercise isn’t going to give you a little waist and more defined hips. But I think she is toned and in good shape and looks fine in the bikini. She’s in her 40s, had two children, and looks great for her age. She has nice legs.

  29. Jayna says:

Why didn’t they show Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner on here? It’s so cute. And their little kids laughing hysterically in the background when daddy turned around, after getting the ice and water dumped on him, throwing mommy in the pool is priceless.

Here it is. Little children getting the giggles always warm my heart when around their parents. Who says Ben and Jen aren’t playful together. They seem like they are probably a sweet family at home away from our prying eyes.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

      Such an adorable family.

    • lucy2 says:

      That was pretty cute.

    • Belle says:

Thanks for posting it Jayna… I was going to post it the other day but figured CB would get to it… I was wrong. I’ve seen a ton of these (and filmed for both of my daughters when they were nominated by friends… and YES, they each donated $10 at alsa.org), and Ben’s is my favorite, hands down! 🙂

  30. Louise says:

She had to say “Chris Martin” as code for she doesn’t care about Jennifer Lawrence. Subtle?

    • Jayna says:

They seem fine. The woman is seeing someone herself it seems and has been. It’s not like they split up suddenly. They’ve been uncoupling for a year and going their separate ways for quite a while. They’ve been seen together as a family quite a few times this summer, so still seem close as friends and parents. So why wouldn’t she name him? I give them credit for navigating their split and post-marriage relationship in a way most beneficial to their children. It’s hard to see your ex move on, as I’m sure it’s hard for her and hard for him to see her move on, but both seem ready.

  31. poppy says:

is it wrong to think people should just donate and skip the selfie crap?
    so much attention mongering.
really, what is so challenging about getting wet?
    i guess I just don’t get it.

    • stacat1 says:

I know ALOT of people who feel the same way you do. But I really doubt ALS would have raised $30m in 6 weeks with just nominating people to donate on FB. Watching your friends dump ice water on themselves (and celebrities) is the “fun” part. Is it narcissitic?…yes (but so is most stuff on social media anyway)…but is it working- YES.

So we can all be tired of all people getting wet..but it’s been enormously successful- and you can’t argue with that.

    • Belle says:

I guess I don’t understand why people get so bothered with ‘having’ to see these videos. If you are sick of them, don’t watch them. 😉

  32. Brad says:

She has a meh body. All that bragging she does about her maintenance and she looks like a pre-pubescent little boy. No waist, no boobs. Straight as a stick!

  33. Catriona says:

I can’t snark, she was one of the few celebs who actually mentioned the cause and the website, good on her

  34. word says:

Hey there was no ice in that bucket. If you’re gonna do it, you gotta do it right lol. So happy she mentioned the website and reminded people to donate money. That’s the important part.

  35. Lady says:

I cant believe some people are criticizing her body. Honestly? Really?!?! She looks better than 90% of the people sitting around you right now and probably a good 90% of us making comments right now as well. Her shape is just her shape, she can’t change that and there’s nothing wrong with it! She’s tight and toned and looks healthy.

    • Kate2 says:

      +1000

Why is it ok to body shame her when I remember how many people came to Melissa McCarthy’s (deserved) defense when she got body shamed a few months back? Are any of you the same people? Is it because we like Melissa and don’t like Gwyneth?

The woman looks great, and she did a really good thing.

    • T.C. says:

Most people commenting don’t have a famous fitness guru they pay to keep them get in shape, they don’t have access to a chef, a home gym, don’t have access to buy the most delicious healthy food 360 days a year. Most importantly they aren’t flaunting their half naked body for all the world to see nor wear see through dresses to show the whole world their body rocks.

If you do all the above and have a disappointing looking body yes people are going to criticize. She loves to give other peoe advice on their bodies but has a completely meh one with very little muscle tone and no curves. She looks better with clothes on.

  36. Blythe says:

That’s her body by Tracy Anderson?

    Oh.

    • thedarklady says:

She’s boobless and waistless – she looks the best she can with that kind of body type.

  37. DrFunkenstein says:

You know, she’s insufferable on most levels. Neither as pretty, talented, or classy as her mother, that’s all I have to say.

  38. Marianne says:

I dont see it being that try-hardy. I’ve seen other people do it in bikinis (well at least bikini tops). Besides, if you’re going to get wet I can see why it would be easier to do so in a bikini then in your clothes.
